PowerSave mode on laserjet 4l

How can I turn off power save mode on a Laser Jet 4l? The problem is that the printer is connected through an adapter for USB LPT tgo to a USB port on the computer. Port Bidirectiomal is activated, leave cumputer to this USB device to sleep is not checked, but whenever the printer is on pawer save he didn't wake when I print something for her.

Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks Norbert of Crete, Greece

Hi Norbert,.

If I remember correctly there is no way to disable the saving on this older laserjet printer. This seems to be a conflict with the communication between the printer and the computer. I suggest you try a new cable or by stopping the Bidirectiomal communication in the pilot to see if you are still having issues.

  • Printer OfficeJet 4500 is not the powersave mode

I just got a printer wireless HP OfficeJet 4500 (CN547A). This printer seems to be all the time and won't in powersave mode. After discussions with tech support, my understanding is that if no print jobs are sent to the printer at the end of an hour, the printer is supposed to enter powersave mode. I do not understand why it remains online in the State of full power all the time. I first asked HP support about this and they had me unplug the printer and press on and press and hold the # and 3 while plugging him back in. That seemed to put the printer in mode powersave, but then as soon as I printed something, that he would stay in line other times, as in, it would still be online in a status of full power several hours after it printed something. The next technician I chatted with that suggested I have unplug the printer, then press and hold the # 6 button while plugging back in. That was exactly equals the previous reset method. Why the printer is not entering powersave mode?

    I have the same problem.

Product name: HP Officejet 4500 G510n-z

    Model number: CN547A

    Firmware: MWM2FN0944AR

I tried unplug him and plug in now # 3.  This just reset the values by default, so I need to hang it on the wireless connection.

I did a scan and he returned to power in 20 minutes saving mode.  However, I printed a test page (google.com search), and it has been two hours and not yet in power save mode.

AFAICT, there is no firmware available to upgrade the Officejet 4500.

  • U2715H go through the powersave mode

    Hello

I have a problem with a relatively new U2715H.  It was working fine, but now I can't get a signal in my office (Windows 8.1, Nvidia 670GTX, the latest drivers).

I tested with my computer laptop (mini DP) and monitor (DP) and it works well.

However, on my desk, I get the "entering Powersave Mode" when I try to connect to it.  I tried HDMI (two ports) and DVI - DP.  I did a factory reset, but failed to get any signal from my office on this subject.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

I have a monitor LG Flatron W2243T that entered in powersaver mode and I cannot get it out it dose - anyone know how to wake up?

    Hi Marcus,

What is the brand and model of your computer?

This can happen when the monitor does not have the power to turn it on.

    Method 1:
check if the monitor connections are properly set.  You can disconnect the monitor connections, reconnect and check if that helps.

    a. power on the computer and monitor off

    b. unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor monitor

    c. unplug the video monitor to the video card PC

    d. reconnect the monitor power cord

    e. reconnect the video cable from the monitor

    f. power on the monitor

Charles Gavan power on the PC

I also suggest you to consult the user manual for more help with connections.

Method 2: You can also try to change the video cord that allows you to connect your monitor CPU (turn) and check if it works.

Hope that the information provided is useful. If you have additional questions, or if this problem persists, come in and we will be happy to help you.

Can I leave my printer connected 24-7?  Does go to sleep mode?  I do not see every day or week necessarily!

According to the manual (HP Envy 5540 all in a manual series) on page 22, it goes into powersave mode after 5 minutes of inactivity. You can change this time in the control panel if you wish.

After 2 hours of inactivity, the printer will automatically turn off, and you have to press the power button to restart. This auto off function is not active if the printer has wireless or WiFi Direct features turned on. Or if she has a fax, Ethernet, or USB connection. This info can be found on page 23 of the manual linked to the previous paragraph.

  • HP LJ 4 M more w/JetDirect Eve interfere with printing?

I have an old HP Laserjet 4 M Plus on a home network, connected via a JetDirect to my router (Linksys E3200).  I was able to add the printer using a TCP/IP port set up and it works fine.  However, it seems that maybe the printer go in mode sleep (Powersave) can cause a problem.

When I go to print, the printer does no requirement for troubleshooting, but do not print.  When I remove the printer and add it again with the same settings, it prints very well.

All computers on the network are Windows 7 and this problem happens on all of them.    This is just a guess that it's the powersave mode that causes the problem and since I was home user level computer skills, I do not know what cause check or what to do about this problem even if it's the powersave.

    Any help would be appreciated.

The Jetdirect card is a J2552B.  I don't have another card.  This printer was given to me by my former employer for my office at home and let me keep after firing me.  So I try just to make it work on a home network.

However, an interesting thing happened after I installed it as a local printer, as I mentioned before.   When I tried to send a test page, it did not work.  So exasperated, after posting the previous message, I turned off the printer and walked away.  Later I'm back and turned on the printer to try again and miracle and by itself it printed on the test page.    It seems to work now.    I let my computer go into sleep, off the printer for several hours and continues to acknowledge it and print it without having to remove and then add the printer again.

Do not know why, but do not look a gift horse...

  • None put into Hibernate or standby in Windows Vista on Portege M200

    Hello

I use a M200 with 2 GB of RAM, latest BIOS and Windows Vista business. As well as a few minor problems, I can't go to the energy saving Mode or Hibernation.
After entering the command, the screen turns black and either nothing happens, or I got a blue screen after a few minutes. The only way to back the M200 to work is a hard reset.

My BIOS is on the latest version (1.6?) and I installed the nVidia driver from the Toshiba Support Site and most of the other drivers and programs. I googled a lot to solve the problem, but could not get a clue. Most problems depend on getting the M200 return to hibernation, but I coulnd't even not get inside.

Other problems occur when the M200 starts in the docking station. Different parameters of the screen and the brightness unmodifiable. Maybe, if you have already solved my problem, you have a solution for everything :(

    Yours Alexander

    Hello

are you sure that the powersaver has been correctly installed? I would say to set all the default BIOS settings and reinstall the "common modules" and the "Toshiba powersaver" because those are the programs that are relevant enemy these things like powersaving mode and standby/hibernation

Would also be interesting if you can answer the question if it worked with XP (I mean put in hibernation). You can also check if the "hibernation" file is set correctly.
You can check this by taking a peek in powersaver and looking at what settings have been made...

Please give some comments because something is missing, some small detail that I need you help.

  • Portege 7220: has a switch from the darkness and brightness?

    Hi all
do you know if the Portege 7220 has a twilight switch. My portege is just too bright?
I read the manuals and searched the web - but do not know how to change...

    Help!

    Hello

I m not 100% sure that this function works on the 7220 protégé, but usually the FN + F6 and FN + F7 key combination should be responsible for the display brightness and darkness.
In addition, you should check the power Toshiba Powersaver modes. If the laptop works only with the battery then the Powersaver change the brightness of the display on the lower level due to the economy of battery power.

  • L750 WiFi blank SuperHub satellite question

I see that many users have Wi - Fi problems with Atheros AR9002WB card. Until last week, I had no problem at all to connect to my cable Superhub Virgin (Netgear) router, which had worked very well with my L750 since I bought it in March. However, since then, I had a lot of bad to do both to authenticate, despite inSSIder recognizing the network with a signal strong. According to Virgin Media the Atheros card and the Superhub are incompatible and they are suggesting a USB adapter for my problems, is not ideal. I tried to update the driver for 9.2.0.419 from the previous 9.2.0.206, but although at the beginning, it worked, as soon as have hibernated the latop and turned on again, the problem reappears.

What I don't understand is why it worked fine from March until early August and then abruptly stopped. Virgin has replaced the SuperHub, but it does not solve the problem.

because no one from toshiba will provide a fix for this, here is what I found to work, I have a L750 so and exactly the same problem encounted, but not with blank superhub.

  • Satellite A500-134 fan problem

    Hello!

I recently bought a laptop Toshiba A500-134, and I have two problems with that.
First of all, the largest: fans will always practically. Currently, the temperature is the following (I checked with Everest):
    CPU: 37
    CPU 1 core: 36 c
    CPU core 2: 36 c
    DispIO GPU: 46C
    MemIO GPU: 44 c
    The laptop temperature: 34 c

The speed of the fans (utility Toshiba): 73% and sometimes more (and this is waaay out loud)
Is this normal? Tried another (same type) for laptop and seems he did the same things. He doesn't do anything, that the Vista desktop are running, and the fans are still ongoing.

The second problem is a high tone sound from speakers. In my view, the processor to affect it. When I change the portable powersaving mode, the sound is silent, or it disappears.

    Hey Buddy

To be honest I n t see a problem with the temperature of your fan or your laptop.
CPU and GPU temperature appears to be low and there s nothing unusual.

  • Z580 battery (drivers or WIndows?)

    Greetings!

I bought a laptop Lenovo Z580 and got the hard drive replaced with a samsung 830 series SSD (128 GB) with a new installation of W7, the store to the 750 GB hard drive in an external enclosure and I was all this at a very nice price. The laptop was awesome.

    But for the battery.

From the first day I had only 1.5 to 2 hours on a full charge of battery problems. I did check the following:
    1. fact that all device drivers have been installed since Lenovo Web site (or hard drive OEM, depending on which were most recent file). I did this because the SSD had a fresh W7 install first.
    2. the fact that all the windows updates were installed
3 Levono power management has been implemented fully charged battery mode Mode and not the protection of the battery (where the battery capacity is limited, less than 100%)

Problem was not resolved. I called the store and they gave me a new battery, no questions asked. DIN can't solve the problem.

Then they gave me a new laptop, with the SSD even put in. Did not work. It was two weeks in the purchase of the laptop.

I asked them to put the old HDD 750GB thinking that maybe it is the SSD. Does not solve the problem. (At this point, the laptop was as good as out of the box and I did not know THAT SSD has not caused the problem). I don't want to ask money back because I need exactly this configuration in this laptop, and at the price I got it, it is not possible (at least in the Netherlands). In addition, he's exhausted. Apart from this problem, the laptop is perfect.

During this time, I run the powercfg-energy and found a few USB devices not enter powersave mode. Output below:

    Errors

I made the corrections mentioned on a few sites on the internet, and well, these things are now gone. Maybe the situation is better now, but now I get about 3 hours on a charge.

I also noticed in the advanced power settings of all the profiles that the minimum CPU on the battery condition was 5%, I changed it to 0%. Why not.

Now, the only thing that bothers me little is the continuous fan on the side of the laptop. That's all the time. Is this normal? Its not particularly noisy, but when I hold it to my ear, I can imagine the fan is very busy. I changed the "heat" to "Super silent" Managment and reduced noise and availability of the battery goes up to 4 hours. Still not here. I expect at least 6 hours for a new laptop.

My gut feeling is something to do with the drivers (yet) or some problem of management of power between 4000 integrated graphics intel and nvidia chipset. In the BIOS, I can choose Optimus (both) or intel only. But ideally, I would use the nvidia gerforce and permanently turn off the intel 4000. How can I do safely? I don't want to go to the Device Manager and disable it. If my screen uses intel right here, its all gone then. Is it not?

But before you go in this direction, am I missing something? How a Lenovo can offer only 4 hours of battery out of the box? Is the problem with my expectation?

    Hi all

Detachment to close this thread - my problem seems to have been resolved.

I'm not sure what it is resolved, but I did a number of things since then, including:

-Reinstall the chipset drivers intel from the website of intel rather than the OEM folder given by Lenovo. They seem to be release late last month.

-also updated the drivers from nvidia 630M - sequence also appears to have made a difference. I don't really know how it works maybe that wouldn't take a difference too, but I seem to be the case.

-in the lenovo energy management, there is an option to disable disk when not in use. It is not given you an option after how long, but I turned on. No matter what.

-in both mode balanced and power saver in the windows power settings, I changed the switch bank hard timeout to one minute. With 8 GB of RAM and page file reduced to 512 MB only, I don't think that my system needs read/write unless I have download/copy or sleep/hibernate implementation. It does nto creates problems with the disk access performance, at least not with my ssd.

-in advanced power settings, changed the wifi to run on maximum energy savings. changed setting to maximum power save everywhere, I saw.

-usb selective suspend has been activated. disabled, restarted. permit, rebooted.

-same setting for graphics card intel

Somethins must have worked. I get a nice 8 theoretical hours from the laptop now, almost 6 +.

I guess I'm fine with it now. Problem was in the software. I do not have compalaints with WIn7, but I guess all said and done, he must do a better job to save energy.
