  The problem is most likely an attempt to update a system malfunction prior it is probably a problem with your computer, not the El Capitan.

  Start by:

  Reset the PRAM and NVRAM on your Mac.

  MacIntel: Reset of the controller (SMC) system management

  Start in Safe Mode , and then re - start normally. It's slower that a normal start, so be patient.

  If you are unable to start;

  Reinstall El Capitan without erasing the drive

  Please make sure that you back up.

  1. Restart the computer. Immediately after that the chime hold down the command and R until the Utility Menu appears.
  2. Select disk utility, then click on the continue button.
  3. Select the withdrawal (usually Macintosh HD) entry of the volume in the list aside.
  4. Click first aid icon in the toolbar. Wait until the button is active, then click it.
  5. Quit disk utility and re-enter the Utility Menu.
  6. Select Reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

  If this doesn't get you;

  Install Yosemite or El Capitan, from scratch

  Backup if possible before proceeding.

  I hope someone can fix and enlighten the connundrum on my mac.

  During workflow last Friday my Macbook Pro became very unresponsive. The FCC kept crashing, and the beach ball stops all processes including typing.

  I went into the recovery partition and checked and repaired discs. There was a problem of partion with HD, but who fixed green OK.

  Once started in normal but also safe mode, the problem persisted still so I got Time Machine machine in the recovery partition, spend a couple of hours back. It took a little more than two days (50 something) hours to accomplish.

  The unresponsivness and beach-ball problem seemed fixed, however the finder would crash on start and remains afterwards, crashed, with all tests afterwards.

  I first tried the terminal fix to (re) move the plist, alas, that did not help.

  I tried to run in safe mode, but still no luck.

  I had another look at the recovery to do first aid on the disks. All were very well outside the HD this time. The fault could not set in the recovery partition.

  I used the single_user_mode to fix the HD and it worked. I ran until the result reported no abnormalities.

  But once enter the normal mode the finder still kept crashing.

  I tried to erase and recover the OS via the internet and the OS recovery. None of them would not work. The internet recevry would crash/freeze and display a triangle with an exclamation mark with something like apple/support message 2020 slot. Operating system recovery took a little more than two days once again and this time the mac could start not at all normal (or safe) mode. I got was the Apple logo on the screen with a bar that has frozen once filling up (I left it 12 hours, just in case)

  I now rebooted the machine through the using time Machine recovery partition again (this time come back someday).

  Unfortunately, the fault of finder is still there. I can access some programs such as safari and texedit, but anything that uses or is based on a finder is a no-go.

  I don't really know where to go from here.

  Do a 'genius' one appointment at an Apple Store, or select another authorized service provider. You may need to leave the machine there for several days.

  Back up the data on the internal disks before you turn on your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that is not fully functional - ask if you need advice.

  If privacy is a concern, delete the partitions of data with the ability to write zeros * (do it only if you have at least two backups complete, independent, and you know how to restore on a blank disc from any one of them.) Do not delete the recovery partition, if it is present.

  On my laptop cooling fan seems to cut in every minute or so, even when the machine is cool and not busy. It is not the quietest fan in the world, which is quite annoying!

• Satellite Pro 6100: no LED at all, the machine doesn't work anymore

  I have two nb, a 6000 and a 6100. Never had any probs with the 6000, but my 6100 gives me a real hard time:
  The battery has been fully charged, when out of nowhere, it froze... had no chance, but power button money to stop, something cut, two green LEDs (which is normal, right?)
  Down the silver power button to restart, nothing.
  Plugged the AC supply (because the battery is fully charged, see above...): all of THE lights is empty, no lights at all.
  Pressing the new button, NO RESPONSE AT ALL, it totally DEAD!

  What could have caused this? What can I do? any help appreciated, thanks.

  It seems that there is a hardware error that couldn t be repaired by a biosupdate or something. You will need to bring your machine to a partner of service approved for repair/hardwarecheckup. One of my friends had a similar problem with its 6100 with exactly the same symptoms and his "mother" was defective. But at this time the machine was still in warranty so I Don t know how´s with your mobile phone.

  I own a Toshiba Satellite P20. I'm having a problem with the battery. When I turn on my computer and try and charge the battery wilst working, battery is not charging.

  However, when I turn off the machine the battery normally charges.

  How old is your unit and has been the problem from the beginning?
  In my opinion it is either a problem with the motherboard electronic or battery failure there. The two cases are possible.

  So you could buy a new battery for a check or you will contact the ASP and technicians can find the fault.

  In my opinion, you should first contact the ASP. In this case, you need not spend a lot of money for a battery which could be allowed.

  If this page does not display the windows 10 when you open it, then click Edit and select Windows 10 in the menu drop-down.

  Unfortunately, the Win10 GoBack function is NOT reliable, and that can leave you with a corrupt machine that will require the factory reset and lose all that on it, to get it working again.
  
  You can avoid this by making an image backup to an external hard drive or a USB drive using Macrium reflect (MR), which provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or drives together.
  
  What I recommend is the following:
  (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
  (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
  (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key
  
  NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

  My 3 month old R830 fan runs often and hard... and on a daily basis will remain running loudly until finally the machine hangs. .. What is very, very frustrating.

  Someone told me he had something to with the security of fingerprint software... go figure!... but anyway I'm eager to find someone who has a solution.

  As it is I think the machine is way over rated, because it is only an improvement of the SSD on the orginal R600, which, when it came out was the best in its class. A portable "high-end" disappointing from my point of view... and the so-called 'new' Z series looks a lot like the R600 with a SAME size SSD... so as it seems that I am stuck with this one, I'll try to find a fix for a very annoying problem.

  I have the exact model.  There is an application called HPPhoenixControl that you can run to make changes to the colors to bicycle and how long between color changes.  You can also turn off the lights all together or just to have a single color.

  The file is located in c:\ProgramFiles(x86) \Hewlett-Packard\HPPhoenixCtrl.exe.  If I remember, when I was first of all the machine I saw this program in the Start Menu or anywhere else.  I think I stumbled on it any type of and he ran to see what he would do.  Have fun...

  I looked at the motherboard. Unless you replaced the motherboard (and I guess you haven't if you post here) you have a card mother IPISB-CU (Carmel2) in this machine. The unfortunate news is that you will not be able to use a GTX 950 with this motherboard.

  The reason? This bios on this motherboard is inherited and the latest graphics cards require UEFI. There is no update or the fix for it from HP. Your option is to find a graphics card that will run with a legacy bios or replace the motherboard.

  I just discovered this problem myself. I have a h8-1114 with the same motherboard. I bought a GTX 960 FTW assuming that HP offered updates for their hardware (bios). After hours on the phone with Nvidia, we finally understood that it was the bios. And a call to Evga quickly confirmed that it was the bios and there is no solution for it and HP is not providing an update problem.

  Personally I'm working on a limited budget, but the original video card that came with this machine is not an option for me (it was the newspaper ago given to my daughter for her machine to play Minecraft). I use an old GTX 260 we had laying around and can not read some of the games that I enjoy because of it.

  I've replace the mobo and will NEVER NEVER buy a pre-built computer.  HP has completely disgusted me with this machine. This isn't the first question I had and which would not have existed if I had built the machine myself.
