Hello

(The menu uefi bios) error codes would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This is also consistent with the question of commissioning.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, please let me know - include the full model number and the laptop Nr - see here for an explanation.

Kind regards

According to the description, I understand that you are unable to start your computer.

    1. Select 'Advanced options', then 'command prompt'.
    2. If you are prompted, enter the password for the user name.

  • System does not boot, get the white screen after preparation for auto repair

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite with Windows 8 and yesterday there were some ongoing update and must restart.  When the computer reboots, it took some time and then I got a blue screen (very quickly) who said something as she encountered a problem and needs to fix (it is really fast and I can't see the whole text).  Then goes and comes back as it is booting (with the toshiba logo) and he says prepare auto repair.  Then it goes to a white screen. I tried to get into the HARD drive recovery (power with F12) and when I select HDD Recovery and confirm Yes, it just goes to a blank screen.  I went into the Setup utility (powering now F2 while) and has chosen default install and who does not either (although it has fixed the problem with my keyboard backlight does not). Support of Toshiba said that it is the operating system, not the hard drive.  But I need a drive recovery media that will scan all.  Anyone know other options?  I have a disc of recovery of a Microsoft coming 8 Pro (dell).  Would it be an option, to use it (I got it on a flash drive) and start-up of that?  Thanks for the help.

    Hi John,.

    Thank you for the update.

Given that you want to use the Windows 8.1 recovery disk, you won't perhaps able to start Windows 8 using Windows 8.1 because the computer may not be able to find the files of Windows 8 start to recover.

Yes, you pouvez install 8.1 Windows using the recovery disk. However, you may not be able to perform the upgrade option when installing Windows 8.1. When you click install now and follow the instructions, you must choose the Custom Advanced option to continue installation. Choose Advanced custom options will create a folder in the C: drive (or any other partition when you do not want to install) named the Windows.old folder which expected to have all of your files and documents of previous installation and are accessible.

Make sure you have the drivers available for the devices installed on the computer as network card, drivers etc. of video card you install Windows 8.1.

Hope the information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

    Thank you.

There are many different items on such behavior Windows 10 and probably this kind of issue should be fixed by Microsoft update.

  • Spectrum of HP x 360-13-4009na: Machine starts with "Preparation of auto repair. Cannot reset. "The disk is locked.

One day the machine started start mode "Preparation of auto repair. I tried to reboot several times, including a hard reset without effect.

Then I tried to "put this PC" but I get the message "the drive where Windows is installed is locked." Once, he did pass this screen and asked me my credentials for the Windows account but then failed. Now it's to the same message.

I then tried of the system hard disk diagnostics. The DST short and SMART test passed BUT the long DST has failed with an error code ridiculously long...

    0LPMB9-7LT88D-MFPWMG-61V503

My conclusion is that this problem is hard disk (SSD) related, but what I can do now.  Needless to say my warranty missed in January 2015 (I think) and the machine is currently blocked.

Does anyone know what the code above means?

If it's a SSD failure, how can I get it replaced and then how do I reinstall Windows 10 since HP did not provide support for recovery with the machine, either 8.1 win or win 10.

    Any help appreciated.

    Paul.

Your long test failed.  I wouldn't replace the drive if I felt it unnecessary.

You'd better replace but weather that you do it yourself or not, I can't comment. HP has no instructions for your model on the replacement of this player.

If your comfortable with DIY, go ahead as long as its out of warranty.

Specs say it has a 256 GB SSD M.2

Personally, I would like to look at the disc before I ordered one, to make sure that I get the correct type.

    Good luck.

  • Urgent - Windows RT Surface is in preparation for loop of auto repair

    Team MS Hello,

I have been using my Windows 8 RT Surfact Tablet for a few days. I don't know what went wrong, my Tablet Surface is not able to connect.
Rebooted/Reset/refresh all operations starts with 'Auto repair Preparation' and fails with the error message with below "Shut down" and "Advanced Options":
Auto repair couldn't fix your PC
Press 'Advanced Options' to try other options to repair your PC or "Shut down" to turn off your PC.
    Log file: C:\windows\System32\LogFiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt

But could not find any file of that type in the c:\windows\system32\logfiles folder. Not even the record 'Srt' are available.
On automatic selection of Advanced repair options-->--> advanced troubleshooting, tablet will show "Diagnose your PC" with spinning points, then displays the same error message.

Also, tried all the options that are available in advanced option, except, "use a USB network connection device or Windows recovery DVD", as I do not have Windows Recovery DVD with me.

I am badly stuck with my work, please help me solve this problem.

    Thank you

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

It is normal for the Chargers for devices such as the Surface to be warm to the touch. It is not normal for them to also get very hot though. If it's hot, I consider that it is defective and a possible fire hazard and would communicate with the support of Microsoft Surface to have it replaced. Please see:

I suggest you check out the link below

  • XPS 12 stuck on the preparation of the auto repair

    Hey,.

I have a huge problem with my new dell xps 12 boots go POST but to get stuck on loading windows logo or the preparation of auto repair. I don't know what to do anymore. I tried to boot from USB only legacy enabled it does not start. I'm trying to see if my DRE order can help, but I don't know if it is compatible with windows 8. I can't use F8 F2 and F12 to enterering of INSTALLATION and Startup Options.

    Help, please!

    All,

I have a XPS 12 that was stuck on "automatic Preapring repair." I had put to sleep it and bought another, I recently met the old an and had a quick Google to see if something had changed! Of course, I came across this:

I opened the XPS 12, reinstall the daughter (removed all connections and reconnected) card, turn on the laptop with a fresh install of Win 8.1 and it installed and everything seems good! He runs a Windows Update as I type!

Worth a try? Give it a go!

    Good luck!

  • HP Envy m6-k010dx: update Windows 10, recently received message OS not found, stuck in auto repair

Recently updated to Windows 10 8.1 and everything was fine, but then I started affected by Frost (windows stopped responding and the mouse and keyboard and I couldn't get to the Manager of the tasks accordingly) sometimes the gel would solve itself, but more often than not a closed hard must be carried out. Fast forward to today, and my computer froze 5 + at a time or two hours, then I close it and let it sit for a few hours, because I had to leave in any case. When I turned it on back but can't find OS message not shown on the screen and the computer turns off. I turned it on the message before auto repair, who showed up for a minute or two and then goes to a black screen and stays there, no options provided (I've ever seen the screen which offers the possibility to fix computer or solve the problems I found among other positions) and this has been the case all day no matter how I try to start it. A further experimentation I managed to get Hardware Diagnostics UEFI test using F2 (checking the battery, check processor, check for the wireless module, check the system board and the SMART hard disk check were in seconds, as soon as he started on short Hard Drive DST check that I received the result of the FAILURE and the test fails also) the results displayed as follows:

    ID 90F439-6MP7RE-XD7WXG-60QJ03 failure

    Product IF: E0L01UA #ABA

    Hard drive 1

Do I have to replace the hard drive? Of course if this isn't the case any other ideas would be appreciated particularly with regard to the possible explanations about what could have caused this since I have not had any problems with the computer before the upgrade and no damage had never place and best way to proceed.

Update: before posting this I turned on the computer and received the HP normal logo displayed during startup, after waiting a few minutes however the dreaded blue screen appears and displays the message saying:

your PC must be rebooted, it will restart for you in a few moments...

Then below this additional information concerns the following text is displayed:

    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

and then of course the computer shuts down. The computer was then turned and saw the preparation of auto repair as before (I had never received this precondition of message blue screen). So even once any idea would be appreciated, I think I've covered most of the details, but if anything else would be helpful let me know.

@SabrinaRM: sorry to say this, but the drive test result means that your drive is defective or has already failed - and needs to be replaced. This means that no recovery, automatic or not, will work as the recovery information are damaged on the drive.

Once you have a new drive, you must restore your PC - but that is a problem.

Normally, I advise to use HP recovery media to restore your PC to its original state, but, unfortunately, there is only no recovery media HP not related to HP for your PC Product Page.  You can try to contact the HP customer directly, using the links below, to see if you can order them if:

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

If HP no longer provides a recovery media for your model, a few other sites, you can check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/Default.aspx and http://www.restoredisks.com/

    Good luck
