Print - no access on Windows 7

I have a Laserjet 4000n.  It prints very well but I do not know how to select Preview before printing before printing.  I am running Windows 7.  Is this a problem of computer or a printer problem?  Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the Community Forum of HP.

I admit that I don't remember a lot about laser printers; for a long time I used a longer until I supported.  Things have changed - much.

In general, and at least for the majority of "regular" printers, in other words, these printers that most of us use at home, preview print is a function of the application that we use and either a direct function of the printing software.

The next Dragon Document could be useful in the context - assuming that your laser printer falls into this category of how-things-work.  Although the document was written to describe the use of fonts and printing to scale, the content should be useful to describe how the preview printing is accessed and used.

    From: Steve

Desperately, I try to print from my laptop Windows Vista Home Premium to a shared printer on my home wireless network.  The shared printer is connected to a XP Home machine.  This machine is wired (via a LAN cable) to the wireless router.  I can 'see' the printer that I want to use but trying to to connect to it. I get the error message "Windows cannot connect to the printer.  Access is denied. "I would be grateful for any help.

    Kind regards.

    From: Alan Morris [MSFT]

Since the XP machine is HOME, I don't think that the permissions dialog box is accessible.

Run the XP network sharing wizard again and see if it affects safety correctly on sharing.

Is the printer you share one that has drivers provided with Windows XP?

In the meantime we will at least get the printer works for you.

Create a local printer on Windows Vista; Creation of a Local Port in the form \\XPMACHINE\Printsharename (this will send the files by using the redirector instead of the RPC service).  Install the Windows Vista driver for the device.

You can print because print$ access is required for printer drivers.

  • Windows can't open add printer. Access is denied.

I have a Windows 7 HP Pavilion Elite.  The printer that I have connected to it, a HP Photosmart D7360 worked OK for a few days until what I tried to connect it to the network.  In the House, either XP or Vista laptops do not have to connect to it.  I think I ruined somehow with permissions... I also uninstalled the printer...  Now, I can't even reinstall the printer.  The error message is: Windows can't open add printer.  Access is denied.  Help!
How regain access so that I can re - install the printer?

    Beginning
    Run
    rundll32 printui.dll /il

    If not work

    runas / user: compturnam\admini "rundll32 printui.dll, PrintUIEntry /il.

How to receive the permissions it ruins I have no idea--> I guess your just using one account - no changes? (your not trying to add the printer via a limited right account) Computer nerd who serves the grannies

  • Add Printer__ Windows cannot connect to the printer. Access is denied

Laptops have just loaded with Windows 7 Pro on my domain. Try to load printers to a print server. Print server running Windows 2003 R2.

When I log in with a user profile, I go to devices and printers------click Add a printer-network printer select------I see a list of printers on the print server - choose the printer that I want to load------asked if I have confidence in this printer - click install drver------opens window files Coping - green bar moves as if it were loading drivers------then just before you get to the window asking if you want to make a default printer. open window that says - Connect Add Printer (X RED) for printer Windows cannot connect to the printer. Access is denied

Changes to device settings to allow the user load the drivers. Check the security access (everyone has permissions) for this printer on the print server.

Disable UAC control on the laptop. Group Policy has changed restrictions point and print.

But this same user can log on to another computer on the network, which has loaded XP Pro and can load the same printers that are denied with windows 7 pro

As a network administrator, I can log on to laptop computers and load A B and C printers.

So I can log on as a user and then I can load A B and C printers, but as a user I want printer D I get the same message as above.

Thank you in advace for your help

This is the solution I received and seems to work.

You have to go into the local group policy on Windows 7 computers, and not on the server.

    Go to the Group Policy:

Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Printers\Point and printing Restrictions ss SET TO OFF

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Printers\Point and printing Restrictions ss SET TO OFF

  • How to share printer connected to the Windows XP with Windows 7 computer

    Original title: printer problem

I have a HP USB printer connected to a PC running XP.  My wife has a laptop and connects to my Internet connection through a router.  Is there a command in XP that will access the printer even though it is not wireless?  The laptop is running Windows 7 and using Microsoft Home and Business 2010, and therefore the PC.   I was told that it is a command, but can't find it.

Share the printer from Windows XP for use with Windows 7 as well.

See this link for more information on this operation:

    Additional reference on:

  • Photos will not be printed in color of Windows Photo Gallery

Last year, I bought a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium.   I never had no problems printing photos in color in color until this week.  Pictures always print well in the color of the internet, inserted in a document, or to a printer test page.  However, they will be print in color directly from Windows Photo Gallery.   They would do so last week, but suddenly, all I get is black & white print pictures in color Windows Photo Gallery.  I even checked to make sure that I have a color cartridge in my HP Officejet 7310.  Does anyone have any suggestions how I can solve this problem?

    Hi Linda,.

Thank you for visiting the responses of Vista forum.

It sounds like your print options or preferences have been changed for your printer. To select print options, you must open the document, file, or picture you want to print. Most print options are located in the print dialog box, which you can access on the file menu in the program that you are using. The options that are available to you depend on the program and the printer you use.

To access some options, you may need to click on "Options" or "Advanced Options" link, a button or tab in the print dialog box. To learn more about the print options for a program, see the information for the program.

Printing options are determined by your printer capabilities are called printing preferences and may include printing separation pages, color or image quality options and Staples. Like program options, printing preferences are displayed in the print dialog box. Look for the buttons labeled "Préférences" or "Properties". You can choose preferences each time you print a document or preferences to default configuration to use for all documents that you send to a printer.

To set the default printing preferences

    1. Click to open Printers.

    2. Right-click the printer you want to use and then click Printing Preferences.

    3. Select the preferences you want to use as the default the next time you print to the printer, and then click OK.

    Use print preview

To see what the print will look like before you print it, open the document in a program that offers a preview before printing. Print preview is generally located in the file menu of a program. You should be able to get an overview of each page of the document. In some programs, you can choose print in preview mode options and then print directly from the preview. In other programs, you will need to close the preview, change the document or your printer settings and print.

  • Cannot find the printer Laserjet 5100 for Windows 7 driver

I have a HP Laserjet 5100 printer installed on a computer running XP that is on a network without internet access working group.  I have a new Windows 7 computer to the same workgroup.  I want to print documents created on Windows 7 computer with the Laserjet Printer, but I need to install the printer driver Windows 7 to do this.  The drivers of HP support site says the necessary driver is built into Windows 7, but it tells me it's name or I would like to download it.  Suggestions on how to find or download the driver or what is called?

    Hi micror,.

Drivers for Windows 7 are only available online through Windows Update...

If the specific computer is unable to access the web, you can download the drivers from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

As you the not mentioned your operating system type, you can find the two options below...

If you are not sure of your type of operating system, follow the steps below:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02033168

For the edition of 32-bit operating system, use the first result, 64-bit for the third or the fifth option (that very of your processor type, wrong that does not...)

    http://catalog.update.Microsoft.com/v7/site/search.aspx?q=LaserJet%205100

To download the Microsoft driver, first add the required file to the basket.

Then click on view basket and follow the download link...

Because the packet is compressed, you will need to use any archiver program to extract (for example Winrar).

Last but not least, as a printer is installed on Windows XP can not be automatically shared with the new client OS you need to add drivers to manually as follows:

    1. After you download the right driver to extract it to a temporary folder.
    2. From the Client (Windows 7) go to printers and devices and click Add a printer.
    3. Select this option to add a local printer
    4. From the port selection screen you can create a new port by selecting a Local Port.
    5. In the port name fill a \\HOSTNAME\Sharename prefix
      • To locate the host name of your HOST computer (XP PC), made a right click my computer and select Properties, the hostname will be listed on this screen...
      • To locate the name of the share go to printers and faxes, click right-click the printer icon and select Properties... Then, go to the sharing tab and appears the share name.
    6. Continue add it an assistant of the printer and the driver selection, click on disk... Browse ocntaining pilots the INF folder from your printer.

    Good luck

  • HP officejet 8600 not find network printer (macbook pro and windows 7)

I have installed the new software, set up the printer on the wireless and I can see the printer on my Airport Extreme, but I'm not during the game to the top (I can print via USB). I pulled out of Installer and is went on the forums and found a similar problem with an OfficeJet 6700. I followed the instructions given to the downloaded drivers from Apple. I could then see the printer online... briefly. I even hit print, got 12% in the printing process, but it died on me (not printed). I restarted/rebooted everything (printer, macbook pro, computer windows laptop and router) and no dice. I added the printer manually on the mac using the IP address, and I can see it. It gives me even a Green State, but when I try to print a document, the State of the printer is busy and turn until I have delete the print queue. I don't see anything when I'm in the box ' print and scan "to the default setting, that I should be able to.

    Any ideas out there?

I thought of it. I have a router using a double NAT and I had put the printer on the network of comments, as almost all of my devices are out there, but comments network does not allow access to other devices, only allow access to the internet. Installs everything other than mobile devices at "home"network and everything worked."
