Printer sharing in Windows XP for Windows 8 (64-bit)

Hello!

How to connect Windows XP shared printer to Windows 8 (64-bit).

When I connect the 8 (64-Bit) windows printer it shows a message.

"No driver found" () Windows cannot find a driver for HP LaserJet P2015 Series PS on the network. To locate one manually, click on OK. Otherwise, click Cancel and consult your network administrator or the printer manufacturer's Web site. )

I click OK. And then, I connect to my shared printer on xp through windows 8. It displays a message.

"Connect to the printer" () Windows could not connect to the printer. Check the name of the printer, and then try again. If it is a network printer, make sure that the printer is turned on and that the printer address is correct. )
Thank you.

Hi Malik.

I suggest to try and install the latest printer drivers for your model of printer from the HP website and check to see if that solves the problem.

You can download the latest drivers for your model printer from this link:

  • How to make a shared printer on a Windows 7 64-bit machine accessible to a user on a 32-bit XP machine.

    Hello

I have two Windows machines on a private working group, old stamp. A XP 32-bit, and a 64-bit Windows 7. The Windows 7 machine has a Canon printer attached. The problem is how to give the ability to print to the shared printer on the Windows 7 machine to a user on the XP machine.

After a day of p____g about, I managed to get the feel of XP machine for the shared printer when I'm logged on two machines. But there is a problem.

When my wife connects to the XP computer (instead of me), it can not print. His account apparently can 'See' the printer and everything seems to be in order when I discover the properties of the printer, but when it prints, it fails silently. There is no error; printing seems fine, but nothing happens. This happens if I print from Word, Notepad, or even simply the test page in the printer properties.

I have another printer shared from the Windows 7 machine, and it can print on it without problem.

The big problem is that I can't follow the 'normal' procedure to add a printer to the XP computer because it tries to install the drivers and then machine claims Windows 7 is not the correct drivers. This is true because the Canon Setup is fully automated and does not provide an option to install the 32-bit drivers alongside 64-bit drivers, so that customers can download.

Sorry for the length of this post, but I am here in desperation. I lost count of the number of Web sites, I've been to, who claims to have an answer to this problem, to see any of the steps fail. Many solutions rely on the use of residential groups, which I can't do because XP does not know these (I don't think).

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Kind wishes, Patrick

Check permissions to print on the XP machine (Fortunately, you have XP Pro):

    1. Disable Simple file so sharing is not off (in Windows Explorer > tools > Folder Options > view tab > uncheck "Use Simple file sharing" - low point in the list--> OK your way out)
    2. Start > printers and faxes
    3. Right click on the printer icon and select Properties
    4. Select the Security tab

You can see who has permissions to the printer.  By default, the "Everyone" group has 'print' permission but none of the other permissions related to printing.  If you want to add a group or an individual user, click the ' Add ' button.  See the following for more information: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/print_limit_accessw.mspx?mfr=true and the topics listed at the bottom of this page.

To determine if a user is in a group (for example, is the user who cannot print a member of the "Everyone" group), click Start, right-click my computer and select manage.

In the management console of the computer that opens, select "Local users and groups."  By double-clicking a user, you can select the "Member" tab and see what groups that user is a member.  Similarly, by double-clicking a group, you can see the members of this group.

  • Canon i850 printer shared by Windows XP and Win7 does not print the entire page

I've just updated my Vista laptop to Windows 7 as a place to upgrade. All migrated without problem except this shared printer. I downloaded the updated driver from MS download the catalog and the Win 7 Add the fron Canon pack I have installed in that order. The printer is connected to the desktop from Win XP to USB and is configured as a shared printer. Windows 7 sees the printer and also its status but print a test page prints only the windows of the flag in the upper left corner of the rest of the page is empty. Print directly to the printer under Win XP works perfectly. All ideas are welcome. Thank you.

Well, I've had sorted it here's what I did:

Removed all instances of canon i850 of devices and printers in Win 7.Rebooted, and then at the Run prompt run this command, "Printui/s/t2" without the quotes... Removed the i850 canon drivers and packages, then restarted again. Then I turned on the printer and plugged into a USB port on the computer to Win7... It installed the driver for me to Windows Update and a USB driver. I then added a printer shared in devices and printers selected local printer and set up the port as: \\xp computer name\share name\. I chose the same driver in the list that was created previously Setup USB canon i850... Restarted then installed the Canon Add / on module: aomwin110ea23us.exe. Restarted again... NOW, I CAN PRINT!

  • HP990Cse connection via print sever in Windows 7 64 bit

I want to install drivers for a printer HP990Cse that is connected through a print server built into my WD Netcenter network drive. Windows 7 (64-bit) can find the printer, but not the driver. In addition, this printer is not in the list provided in Windows. He asked that the location of the driver files (Browse button), however, I am unable to download driver from the HP website files. All they have is an Assistant to allow the connection via USB or ask the user to just plug the printer on Windows and that it will give the driver. I'm not connect via the USB port, so I don't know what to do.

When you install a Brother printer, I have had no problems since I could download the driver files, place them in a folder and then point Windows to this folder. Where can I get the driver of this printer files or what procedure should I use to install this printer?

    Thank you

I'll answer this question myself in the interest of all those who might find themselves in this position. After some advice I found on the Internet. I did the following:

    1. I installed the printer as a local printer on the USB port allowing Windows to provide the driver. He worked to find plugged into a USB port.
    2. I then backed up the printer to the print server in the NetCenter.
    3. Then, I went to the driver on the ports tab and added a new port with the network printer path. For example \\printer_server_name\printers\DESKJET-990C.

It did not work, however. So I went the network and sharing Center and selected the option to view computers and devices which shows print server. I double clicked on the print server, which then displays the connected printer. I double click on the printer to connect to it. I got a message saying that the driver is not found. I clicked on OK to install the driver. When the list of drivers appeared, I have selected HP in the left column and guess what? The 990C printer driver and a bunch of HP printer drivers more have been listed. I chose the 990c and everything worked fine.

I don't know if the installation of the printer locally caused Windows fill the list with several drivers of HP, but it seems like if she did because these drivers were not in the list before.

  • HP Envy 7645: HP Envy 7645 does not print after installation (Windows 8 64-bit)

I have a weird problem with the HP Envy 7645. After going through the movements to print anything, documents word to pages web, the printer does not print the document and somehow work not even end in the windows print queue. I ran all the diagnosis of HP and there is no connectivity problem, be it wireless or USB connected. No one else in my family have printing problems (we use XP, use another 8.1 and a mac user). The printer prints a test page and a page of diagnosis of the HP software, but will fail to print a windows test page 8. Also the windows 8 printer troubleshooting tool detects any problems with the printer. I'm a bit of a loss.

I saw a similar question on these cards with the HP Envy 5530 and wonder if it should be the same solution. However, after watching this Board, it requires the name change of a different .dll extension that I don't see with the 7645, but I was wondering if it could be something similar. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

UPDATE: I solved the problem yesterday, but not by the above method, I had tried earlier. I tried a solution for the 5530 envy and it worked. I completed all the steps, including get adobe flash. Only, I have encountered a problem and has been updated to adobe flash. It would download, but as soon as it starts to install, I get a message: "this user has not sufficiently privleges." If you get this error, I'll post the links I used to solve the problem below the solution. I do not guarantee they will work, but they did for me. If not, just follow the step by step solution below:

EDIT: I forgot to mention that, before using the links to solve the problem of permission with adobe, I had created another account to administrator in Windows 8 and activate the default Administrator account, which is hidden. None of these solutions had solved the problem, but you can try these first, despite the fact that the difficulty of a temp.

  • Fax: HP Officejet 8600 more (all in one wireless printer) operating system: windows 7 64-bit router/DSL Modem

It's my second printer of HP wireless. the main problem and the only problem is that whenever my phone rings responses of fax, which is very annoying, on hearing the tone while trying to answer the phone.  I followed the instructions exactly.  Have configured fax to answer on the 6th ring... auto answer set OFF... and yet he answers at all times when the phone rings.  I tried to turn off the printer and it happens again... even when the PC and the printer are out of service happens.

I'm on a DSL line with phone... have voicemail... have a home network...

    Hello

Given that you have tried to put off the printer and it still happens, I can hardly believe it's the printer the fax must be turned off, as all the other features of the device.

Please try to disconnect the telephone line from the port fax 1LINE and try the composition for your phone line... You will hear a fax tone?

If so, I'm afraid, he's probably not coming from the equipment to HP...

If you can see any change, reconnect the printer... Make sure that you connect the cable in 1LINE and not in any other port by mistake...

Also, make sure that you connect the cable from the phone using an ADSL micro filter... Make sure that the printer connected to port telephone filter and not in the ADSL port by mistake.

Please let me know of any changes,
