• Questions of UPD on 4700dn printer - unable to communicate with the printer

  I'm testing the UPD on my laptop which has Windows 7 64 bit on my network printers all in my building. All network printers work fine except one... Color LaserJet 4700dn.

  When you use the UPD interface when you try to print, I try to use the IP address of the printer and it cannot connect. "When you use the search for network printers option, it recognizes the printer, but when I try to connect, I get the error ' unable to communicate with the printer.

  I changed the host name of the printer, changed the IP address on this subject, I can ping the printer and print using the print server, I rebooted the printer... Even got a older laptop that has Windows 7 32-bit and used the UPD 32 bits and the same symptoms occur.

  Any ideas because I hit a brick wall.

  Looks like you can set up a standard port and print ok from a print server.  The UPD in the stream you describe will attempt to make multiple calls SNMP to determine the abilities of the printer, and those who are failing, causing the UPD to throw the error you see.

  Take a look at the network settings in the SAP.  Specifically, under Security, management of the protocols and the SNMP tab.  Watch to see if one of these parameters differ from other devices that work, like maybe SNMP is disabled on the YOA 4700n.

  I assume you actually mean that you have a printer HP Photosmart 8250?

  This printer is essentially - not * really * supported by HP to the title of the edition of Windows that you are using.  That's about what I believe it means when you choose the operating system on the Web of HPs site for your printer and you get the, "installation of the product with the USB cable and using the driver located in the Windows operating system _»<-- they="" gave="" some="" generic="" universal="" driver="" to="" microsoft="" for="" distribution="" and="" you="" might="" get="" it="" working,="" but="" it="" may="" not="" have="" all="" the="" features="" you="" used="" to="" have="" in="" an="" other="">

  One thing probably listed in these forums is to replace the printer inherited by a support by the manufacturer of equipment under an operating system, that you have chosen to run... That failed?  * smile *.

  Honestly - reviews and other for this printer back in 2004 I can say - it means that this printer is old enough (although more recent you).  I'm shocked they kept alive that long, really.  Looking at the Vista drivers and others, later are of March 2007, over 5 years.

  I think you you would save a lot of time and invest in a newer printer that is designed to work with modern operating systems, :-) grief

  It won't be Windows 8 drivers for this printer. You can try this, it may or may not work.

  First run, delete print jobs to eliminate any print job stuck in the queue.

  Unplug the printer.

  Download and run the patch (cleaning printer utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

  Restart your computer. Make sure that the printer is deleted. Deleting Manual printer driver

  Download the 32-bit drivers for Windows 8 32 bit Vista or 64-bit drivers for 64 bit Vista Windows 8. Install the Vista drivers in Vista compatibility mode, you will get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at the moment (power on).

  I upgraded Vista to Windows 7 laptop, three days ago. Previously, running Vista, I printed on my LAN (based on a Netgear DG834G v.2) on an OKI C5250n printer. But I can't make my computer Windows 7 see the printer. An another XP computer prints normally.
  The Working Group is called MSHOME and my new Windows 7 is apparently set to share on the same workgroup.
  If I try to 'add printer' I get a warning that I can't do "due to restrictions on this computer" and I need to see my system administrator - that is me and I don't have what it can refer to!

  I succeeded in printing by connecting directly via the USB port, but has not recently by a spoolsv.exe problem (which I asked a separate question).

  Please can you suggest my next steps.

  The printer is configured to use the same port it was Vista, namely the TCP/IP port.

  You are prompted to do so by your indication of a faulty print driver, I have installed the latest on the OKI web site but the printer fails to operate on the network. Next step is OKI technical services I guess.
