printing through RDP remotely on the local printer via \\tsclient\ < printershare >

Hi all!

We have a customer who wants to print RDP remote at a local level
AIO printer is connected. the printer is unable to print on the TS00x
port - driver problem.

now, we found, is it possible to print directly on the unc path of the
printer when it is shared on the network.

problem now is that the customer accesses the RDP session through a
Web site while being not connected via VPN or something like that.

attempted to map the printer via \\tsclient\
local drives, if I select them to be shared to the remote system. the
printer is not visible.

When I try to connect to the printer in a command prompt with

NET print \\tsclient\

I get the not found network path.

The printer is there because

NET print \.<>

works.

in general - is it possible that I am doing?
If so, what am I doing wrong?

Thank you people.
Markus

  • Win 7 remote desktop and Local printing does not

I cannot using the network printer locally when I use remote desktop to connect to a Vista computer.  Tab resources for RD, I checked the printers.  The only thing I can understand is that my local network printer, not directly connected to my machine.  Whenever I try to print over my remote desktop session, I can not access my local network printer.

I installed the printer drivers on the remote computer and when I try to locate the printer, I get the following error message: "Windows cannot connect to the printer.  Print Server Spooler service is not running... "but the spooler service IS running Board.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  I spent a few hours on this one and am at a loss at this point.

UPDATE: I tried to connect my printer to the local USB port this morning.  Still would not work.  I get the same error of queue.  The drivers are not corrupt, as others have indicated may be the cause.  They work very well on my system locally with 7.

I also found a post elsewhere that he issue 'sharing permissions' and 'network permissons' setting to resovle the spooler error.  Still no go.

Help, please.  I really need to print locally.

I finally have figued try after four days and many hours on the phone with Microsoft.  Microsoft said it was related to my router settings, but I didn't believe it because the remote computer has seen my iPhone very well when it was connected locally.  After just playing, here is what I found... it was pretty basic!

On the remote system, when you try to add a 'local' printer, it has a drop-down list with a list of local ports who sees your system remotely.  Some of those who will be on the remote system, but others will be on your local system.  Take note of those that are visible on your local system.  In my case, LPT1 was not visible, but was COM3.

Then, on your local system, in the settings of your printer works (printer, Ports tab properties), there is a checkbox indicating "Enable Printer Pooling."  When you check this box, you can select multiple ports on your local computer.  Here, you must check the box that shows your remote system (in my case, this is COM3), but make sure your exisitng port is checked as well as (in my case, an IP port for my wireless router).  Basically what you do is on your local system, you are pooling your installation existing printer with a port that can be seen by your system remotely.

Then, on the remote system, install the printer drivers, but do not select a port.  Then go to printers and add a printer.  Select 'local' facility for whom and when asked for the port, use the port that you checked in the previous step on your local system (in my case, I chose COM3 on my local system).  Select your printer from the list.  It will ask you if you want to use the existing drivers... say Yes.  Print a test page to make sure it works.  Worked fine for me.

I can simply not believe how obvsious this solution has been!  If the remote system is unable to see the port that you are using currently, pool your configuration with a port that he can see!

    Hi @AnnisMonadjem,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are unable to print to your printer HP Officejet Pro 8600. I'd be happy to help you and don't forget to come back to this thread and check "Accept as Solution", if I have successfully helped solve you the problem. If you want to say 'Thank you' to my effort to help, click on the "thumbs up" to give me a Kudos.

When you say 'LAN', are you referring to the network or you try to share the printer on the network?

How is the printer connected? (Ethernet/WiFi)

If you have noticed that the port is causing problems, please download and run the print and Scan doctor, it will be probably diagnose and fix the problem you are experiencing.

What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (she print or scan, error messages)

HP has several Officejet Pro 8600 series.

What is the name and the product number of your printer? How can I find my model number or product number?

    • Update the firmware of the printer.
    • Don't hide the SSID (network name).
    • What type of encryption are you helping? HP recommends WPA and WPA2.
    • You have a double router broadband? Make sure that the two groups were not the same network name.

If the problem persists, you may encounter an IP address conflict. It's a good idea to assign the printer a static IP address outside your DHCP range. For example, some routers default DHCP is located between 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.200. So, I would use 192.168.0.232.

To assign the static IP address, use the following steps as a guide.

    • Print a Page of Network Configuration menu of the printer front panel. Note the IP printer. IPV4 address
    • Type the IP address in the browser to bring up the SAP.
    • Choose the network tab, then wireless on the left side, and then select the IPv4 tab.
    • Select Manual IP.
    • Enter your IP address manual (192.168.0.232)
    • Enter 255.255.255.0 for the subnet mask, except if it is different.
    • Enter the IP address of your router that sits on the Network Configuration Page) for the default gateway.
    • Please, click on manual DNS server. For the preferred DNS Server Manual please enter 8.8.8.8 and the Alternate DNS Server Manual, please enter 8.8.4.4.
    • Click on apply.
    • Restart the router, the printer and the computer.
    • Test printing and scanning.

If the problem persists, download and run this patch rollup: resolving printing issues in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

    • Try printing and scanning.

In addition, if you are still having problems try the steps in this guide, HP printers - "offline" Status Message printer (Windows 7).

Continue on, if the problem persists.

  • Settings in the local printer that is applied to all users

    Greetings:

I need a little assistanace. We use Windows XP with SP3.

On some of our machines, we have the local installed "Generic/text" only printer This printer is connected to COM1.

Our users are domain users with roaming profiles with Folder Redirection.

    Question:

I need to change the preferences of the generic/text only on the local computer printer printer so that the settings are applied to ANY user who connects to this PC. The settings will be the same for all users. I do not if it is a domain user or a local user that connects to a PC. What I need, is that if this PC is the only generic/text printer installed I want some printing preferences to be applied to this printer regardless of the user.

Most of the research shows how to network printers, but nothing for a local printer. The closest I came was an article for Windows 7, but when I tried to adapt this article for my needs, it did not work.

    Any suggestions would be appreicated.

    Kind regards

  • Unable to delete the local printer on my system port

    Hello!

I wanted to use printer my colleague (HP Laserjet P2015d), which is not a LAN port. But our computers are connected to a local network. That's why I created a local port on my system to access this printer. I have been using this printer for the last 15-20 days. I have Windows 7 Professional 64 bit running on my system, while my colleague has Windows XP 32-bit.
I don't know what happened, but since yesterday, I am not able to print documents using this printer. After that I have give the document to print, check the status and it says "Error-printing" in the icon of the printer. Then, I removed the printer from Control Panel and added he returned with the same existing local port. It worked once, but the problem came back again.
I thought the local port itself the deletion and addition of it.
Then I tried to delete the local port by selecting this printer-printer server properties >->-> port of remove the Ports tab... But the local channel under question is not deleted. It throws a message "the requested resource is currently in use".
Then I repeated the above procedure after stopping the service from the coil and it restarts again. But it did not work.
So, I changed the printer driver, but the problem is not yet solved. Finally, I asked my colleague to check if the printer works by giving an impression of its system. It worked this way. I asked him then to disable sharing the printer and turn it back on. Yet, the problem was not resolved.
I ask you to give me advice on how to solve this problem.

    Click Start

    Control Panel

    Devices and printers

Right-click on your printer, on the left, click printer properties.

    Click on the ports

TOU can deselect printer ports there.

    Hi RobynGP,

This may occur if the print spooler requires other services, and these services are not running. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    1. in Services, right-click on print spooler and then click Properties.

    2. click the Dependencies tab. The first box list all system services that must work for the print spooler start. These are dependencies.

3 make a note of each service, click OK, and restart each service on which the print spooler is dependent, if the service is not already started. If a service is not started, right-click, click Properties, and then make sure that the startup type is automatic.
