Problem installing ESXi 5.0

Hello

I am trying to install ESXi on my HP DL360p Gen8 Server 5.0. The problem is that we can't see local hard disks that are mirrored on the server. It recognizes only the internal SD memory.

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Craig

Make sure that your internal controller firmware is up-to-date and also try to install it by using the image of HP for ESXi: Customize the Images VMware ESXi for HP ProLiant servers

This should work better that you may need some driver embedded specific access disks.

I had a problem during the installation of VMware ESXi 4.1 update 1. I have attached an image with this mail. It appears once I hit F11 after loading files and the acceptance of the license to install and do not operate. Could someone help me please.

I'm not familiar term "Proliant model". is the term of avobe you wanted to say

HP appoints its servers "Proliant", for example HP Proliant G7 BL460.

To install ESXi on this server model, you may need to use HP custom image. Please take a look at http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1035114 for details and the download link.

ESXi is very demanding and specific with regard to the material. There is a very short list and I do not think that your software is on the supported list. You may be able to get hardware not supported for installation, but you must work there. I would look on the site http://vm-help.com for possible solutions for your hardware not supported.

  • UCS C220 M3 custom problem after installing ESXi 5.1.0 Cisco

    Hello world

I m using a Cisco UCS C220 M3 when I tried to install ESXi 5.1.0 custom Cisco after complete the entire process and restart the server. The ESXi has not started it appeared as if there is no operating system.

In addition, before installing ESXi I configured a HDD in RAID 0, initialized the RAMDisk and chosen as a pilot.

    Hoping someone could help me.

    Llianovich,

Unfortunately, the on-board controller is not supported with ESXi.  I saw other people using this controller for VMware and makes the work but the behavior is very random and it could work or fail at any time. It is recommended to use one of the controllers of basic PCI or Mezzanine by the ESXi (see c220 m3 datasheet below)

After a repair of an already open a question problem, a new question was raised.  I open another question because this problem is new, and I thought that a new question must be requested in this regard.

Following the instructions of this question, I have re-recognized my blade twice.  Looking at the KVM, I have not seen a no boot device message, which was to be expected.  I went to re - install ESXi 5.5 (which was already installed on the SD card before the open-ended question) and I am now met with the following message is displayed:

isolinux: disk error 20, AX = 422D, reader EF

I rebooted several times the blade to re - try unsuccessfully to installation.  I even went back to an ISO of 5.1 ESXi, who gave the best results.

The ISOs I use are UCS VMware ISOs downloaded directly from VMware.

  • Having problems with ESXi/vSphere Client Network

First of all, I apologize if it's thread is in the wrong section.

I recently installed ESXi v6.0.0 in VMware Workstation 12.0 trying to familiarize myself with ESXi as I recently graduated and I forgot most of what I learned from the class I took.

Then, ESXi installed smoothly and was very painless.

Then, I tried to create a virtual machine. It's when things are messy. I can't understand why, but I don't get any network connectivity after obtaining a DHCP address to all within the virtual machine, in addition to being able to ping the host ESXi itself.

First of all, networking is like so:

    10.10.10.1 router/gateway

10.10.10.254 DHCP, DNS, server, VMware Workstation files 12

    10.10.10.250 ESXi host

    10.10.10.244 ESXi reviews - Windows 7

    Googles DNS 8.8.8.8

    VMware workstation 12:

    AMD FX-8350

Intel Corporation 82574L Gigabit Network Connection

NVIDIA Corporation GF119 [GeForce GT 520] (rev a1) - However, not allowed to work with VMware VMware or xvnc throws a fit to this topic

    ESXi host

    Images: 2015-10-04_21-13 - 57.png, 2015-10-04_21-14 - 34.png

The vSwitch has the following properties:

    Image: 2015-10-04_21-19 - 38.png

And the following then occurs on the ESXi prompt:

    Images:,2015-10-04_21-01 - 58.png, 2015-10-04_21-03 - 32.png

I can't really understand what the problem is, or what is happening. Yes, I could set up an internal network of the virtual machine with a firewall and what not, but I was hoping that there would already network connectivity while I wouldn't do. Also, is it possible to make attachments online?

    Thanks for all their help

This could be a problem of permission on the host vmnet adapter, see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/287.

  • Problem of ESXi 5.5 and RAID

So I have an ESXi host and RAID problem with a motherboard for Intel Server S1200V3RP. Basically, the problem is that the 5.5 ESXi host is not recognizing the RAID array set up with the utility integrated. See the images below for what I mean.

I did some research and my research has pointed out to me the possibility that this on the Intel Server raid controller is not actually a hardware controller but a piece of software built using the computer as controller. My research basically tells me that ESXi is super picky and don't play well with fake RAID. Although I may be wrong on this subject the behaviour of ESXi and each site Web I found says that this may be the case. I tried integrating storage and RAID drivers in the iso ESXi, I tried to update the BIOS chipset with the deployment server disk, and the management and I tried a USB installation with the drivers but nothing seems to solve this problem.

Since ESXi does not the table as something other than dedicated disks, I tried an inventive work around by choosing the AHCI BIOS and install ESXi 5.5 mode host on a dedicated disk (volume 0). Then I switched back to RAID and used the Intel Rapid Storage Management utility to configure a RAID5 to three remaining disks. It seems to work very well and I was able to access the vsphere ESXi environment. However I couldn't see the RAID volume again on vsphere storage.

I've plotted a plan where I could load the drives as individual data on the host and virtual server stores use the disk management utility or another program for RAID 3 hard drives together so that they appear as a single volume. However when I booted the system upward it appeared that the integrity of the RAID5 degraded after the addition of each drive separately (probably because he had to load a VMFS on each disc, thereby breaking the table). So this probably won't work (and even if it's possible, it's probably unnecessarily complex).

So yes, I don't have really a clear idea of the place where to go to get the RAID controller integrated to be read by ESXi. I was told that there may be compatibility issues between VMware and my Intel server model, but I checked and its on its list of approved so compatibility it couldn't be her. I guess I could just stick with dedicated drives and load the HARD drives as data stores, and then use software RAID across virtual machines - but I am concerned about the way in which redundancy will include when we drive finally fails (could I just Exchange on as a hardware raid?). I always thought that software RAID (especially on windows server disk management) smb read and write speed is terrible compared to hardware RAID.

Anyone know a solution to this problem or where I could go from here?

ESXi is not 'super picky' here. This kind of fake-RAIDs that are so common on desktop PC motherboards and entry-level rely on specific drivers provided by the hardware vendor to work really. And suppliers basically only provide Windows drivers in the first place. Any other non-OS Windows would be faced with the same question. Try installing a Linux and that you will not see your RAID volume either.

Yes, your motherboard does not use a real independent of hardware RAID but a cheap RAID/fake-software controller. See the Intel website:

    Welcome to the community,

Please take a look at http://www.virten.net/2013/09/esxi-5-x-installation-on-intel-nuc-fails-with-no-network-adapters/ for more information on how to customize the installation image to recognize your network card. When you install ESXi as a virtual machine in VMware Workstation, it is not the physical NETWORK adapter which is presented to the virtual machine, but a virtual NETWORK adapter for which ESXi uses built-in drivers.

  • Question about installing ESXi 5.5

I'm new to VMware and I tried to install ESXi 5.5 on some hardware that I need to build a test environment to home.  I know that some of my hardware is not on the supported list, but I have worked and now faced with a situation that I don't understand.

I have a processor intel Core i3 4130 running on a card mother B85 based.  I seems to have a problem with the VTx - d settings in the bios and that you must use noIOMMU to get the installation to run.

When I run the file .iso installation disc or usb image I go to the screen that says download now the client and to manage the server.  The strange thing is that along the way, I'm never asked what hard drive to install to, and it does not install on a hard drive.  It loads just for memory and runs from there, I think I can run this because all the hard drives are connected to the SATA3 and not SATA2 ports.  Could it be simple or is it the result of hardware compatibility problems, a simple change of SATA port will not fix?

As someone can tell me what noIOMMU done or where I can find this information for me.

    Thank you

    Ted

    Found!

It turns out that, as a result of information found in the thread Re: i7 - 4770 K Haswell core - ESXi5.1 hang "initializing IOV" is what made me.  The last message says to delete what is on the line and add noIOMMU to the line.  Delete what was on the line caused the installer to does not work.  Leaving the "runweasel" and adding let Setup and I'm good.  I guess not knowing what I was doing at all, let me make a mistake so simple, who would have thought to check it out.

In any case I now have ESXi installed in running and so time to play and learn.

Thanks for the help.  I'll probably looking more as I go.

  • Install ESXi 5.5 restarts the Adaptec RAiD card

    Hello

I have a job im trying to install ESXi 5.5 on. I got it running on the machine perfectly well until I added a map of Adaptec Raid 3805. Now when I try to install ESXi it restarts everything when trying to load the AACRAID driver. It isn't hanging or show all errors. It just restarts immediately.

VMware claim the Adaptec 3805 is compatible with ESXi 5.5

Anyone got any ideas on why this is happening?

    Managed to solve this problem.

I had to disable virtualization technology Intel® for Directed i/o in bios and now the installation program works perfectly
