Problem of satellite 2450 - sound

I got a new hard drive installed, and since there has been no noise. I've updated the BIOS and the sound (Sound Max Integrated) sound card driver. Today, there is a bit of sound, but it is very low, and all volume controls are full up. The sound was working perfectly before the hard drive has been replaced.
This happened once before, with the old hard drive, and then he suddenly returned until...

Thanks for any help you can give.

Hello

check the volume control on the left or right of the laptop?

Also, you should check your sound card device manager entry!

The HARD drive has been replaced by yourself?

My sound has kept silent for while now. I didn't know about the volume control sneaky hidden on the side of my laptop, so I've done all sorts...

Today, I was so desperate to hear certain sounds (a little knowledge is a dangerous thing) that I played a little... It seems to me have uninstalled audio device - in the Control Panel, windows tells me I have no audio device.

Obviously, it was a stupid thing to do - how can I remedy this? Download anything from microsoft? Or is it a problem of Toshiba? My manual is no help.

    Hi Charlotte,.

You should be able to re - install the audio device from the utilities Toshiba (NOT recovery CD) CD that you received with your laptop.

  • Satellite 2450 - no sound after I re-installed XP SP2

I need to find a driver for my sound card, and I don't know how.

I have a Satellite 2450 and I bought it in 2003 at the Denmark.
That's basically what I know on the PC and it does not help me much because looking for drivers is structured in A, B, C... etc the series, I don't see no number 2450.

    Can you help me?

    Hello

Your series of laptops is very old ;) to look for in the area of ARCHIVE page of European driver of Toshiba.

There you should find an audio driver that could be compatible with the Win SP2.

Please post feedback after reinstalling the driver.

    Hello

For me, it's like something wrong with the internal keyboard or only with the keyboard controller.
Maybe it's only one loses the keyboard cable but it's only a sugestion.
Unfortunately, I don't think that you will be able to solve this problem without any help.
I think you should ask the Toshiba service partner in your country for assistance and advice.

  • Files corrupt on Satellite 2450

    Hello world
about a year on a toshiba laptop - info below - my wife has complained that its files in Word 2003 have been mysteriously transformed into unreadable garble.
Text became symbols... or, a translation box appears, but there is no way to return this mutilated in its original file. Most of his recorded pictures have also disappeared. (The files remained, but each page was empty when opening). So I wanted to put this on this forum and see exactly what the Devil's going on.
I had my own problems with the laptop. I transferred more than 2100 JPEGs of my drive hard iomega and created a disc using nero. Everything was fine until I saw the disc on another dvd player - info files were black, some pictures would be partially visible, and the disk drive had trouble reading the cd. When I plugged in my Iomega hard drive in our old workhorse 98se and used an older version of nero, I got the cd and it played perfectly in 2 separate dvd players.

    Hello

seems that the hard drive or RAM is defective. I don't know, but if I were you I exchanged these components as your problem doesn't sound like a software problem...
First try to replace the memory modules because they sometimes are the main reason for this error. I would test the modules with "SuperPi" before replacing the RAM. The same should be done with the hard disk, depending on the manufacturer of the HARD drive, I would check the Web site of the manufacturers for some specific tools of the reader to check if the drive works properly.

  • Satellite 2450-101: need last display driver

    Satellite 2450-101 with geforce4 420go - last display driver? Posted the: 7 May 06 18:12

My laptop does not work the games 'Fear' or 'Call of cthulhu.
The errors seem to relate to the display (fear gives an empty window, even if the sound is running, then crashes. Cthulhu says that it cannot find a suitable resolution).

The latest display driver I can find is dated 36,48 Date 02/12/2003 version.
It looks pretty old. Is no later versions available?

I also see that there is an update of the BIOS for my laptop - is - this may have an impact on the problem of game?

Anyone who manages to run these games on a similar specification?

    Thank you

    Hello

The problem is that the graphics drivers from Toshiba are distinguished as the graphics of origin for example nVidia drivers.
Original graphics drivers are designed for desktop use and you may not use these drivers, as they can damage the graphics chip for laptop. Graphics drivers from Toshiba support thermal protection and control the performance of the graphics card.

As far as I know that this unit has been delivered with a NVidia GeForce4 420Go 32 MB graphics card. You can try to check out the other laptops with the same graphics card and try to use this driver.
I also found a few topics on the omega drivers. It seems that this could be a good solution, but if you use other drivers, so you can do it at your own risk!

  • How to replace RAM on Satellite 2450?

I own a Satellite 2450-201 and want to upgrade the Ram. The only problem is to know how to access.

    Anyone know?

    Hello

You won't find the memory locations at the bottom of the unit. As far as I know there are only places to drive HARD, battery and slim select bay.
However, this computer has 2 sticks of memory under the keyboard.

    Please follow these steps:
    1. turn off the power to the computer
    2. remove the power adapter
    3. remove the battery
    4. open the screen and remove the small cover at the top of the keyboard
    5. you will find 3 screws. Remove it
    6. carefully remove the keyboard (please don t forget the flat cable)
    7. raise the insulating sheet covering the module memory to appear the module.

Well, it's not very difficult to upgrde the memory and the entire statement, you will find in the user manual that must be installed on your laptop. Chapter 8

  • Satellite 2450-201: USB 1.1 instead of 2.0 controller

I formatted the hard drive on my Satellite 2450-201 and loaded Windows XP SP2. I loaded all the drivers from the disk utilities and everything works well except the USB ports work only in 1.1 instead of 2. There is a yellow exclamation point in device on USB controller Manager. I tried a Toshiba download driver but there is nothing available.
Can someone suggest a soloution to this problem.

    John

    Hi John

As far as I know that there is no driver for USB controller. When you install the chipset driver all USB ports should be recognized correctly. Exclamation mark in Device Manager is an indication that the device is not configured correctly. Try to remove the controller and reboot the device. After this check again in Device Manager.

Some external device is connected to the unit by USB ports?

  • Satellite 2450 does not start - only in safe mode

    Hello

I'm having a problem with my Satellite 2450 where it is not initialize properly - is stuck in the screen of Windows XP (just continues to scroll through and hangs there).
I can boot into safe mode.
Have not had any other problems with it - no errors, do not have installed/uninstalled anything recently.

Any ideas what could cause this problem?
Do you think I should use the recovery disk to reinstall the OS? Anything less drastic I can try?

    any advice appreciated,
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Usually, if the laptop does not start correctly in normal mode, but only in SafeMode because some drivers or / and software applications are false or defective.
In this case, the recovery procedure should solve this problem.
If you n t have the Toshiba Recovery CD, you can install from the original CD of Microsoft's operating system, and then you can try to install stuff together from Toshiba (driver, tools)
These software, you will find on the page of the Toshiba driver.

  • How to replace the hard drive internal on Satellite 2450?

    Hello!
Last month, after a BSOD displayed (I don't have the code of error message, unfortunately) my laptop decided to not work again.
At the start, he reached the start menu and then displays a black screen... no message, no auto restart... nothing. Just a weird noise coming from the hard drive (like a scratched cd).

I tried to format the drive, but without success. After choosing the boot source, trying to read the cd and the black screen appears again, with no message. I checked if the Bay of cd is not working properly and it is. (I think)
So I replaced the HDD in my satellite 2450. A new toshiba ide 2.5 30 GB hard drive. But when I install a new one, the system does not recognize.

The control panel of the Bios says that "no hard disk" is available, and I can not change this option. (locked)
With the Windows Xp cd in the drive, the Setup program runs all properly until the 'select drive' format menu, witch says that no hard drive is recognized (with a new drive hard in).

I don't really know what to do!
Is something missing in this process?

    Thank you for the patience

    Hello

The laptop did not recognize a new HARD drive. Which is one reason why Win XP cannot follow the additional installation steps

I can't say exactly why the HARD drive is not recognized, but the 30 GB IDE should be ok.
I remember one of my friends had a similar problem with the new HARD drive.
Some hard drives have a jumper (3.5 HARD drive and 2.5 IDE HARD drive too)
Maybe you should check if a rider has been set to the right position (slave?).

Check it otherwise that I recommend to test with another new HARD drive

In the worst case the disc HARD controller might be faulty, but it would mean replacing a motherboard

  • Satellite 2450 S203: registration issue

I am the owner of a Satellite 2450 S203 and I can't find it on the recording of "my computer"? any idea?

    Hello

You can try other toshiba sites around the world. Start with toshiba.com, I don't know where you are, but for example, I am from Turkey and my satellite SA30-303 does not appear in the U.S. site. This can be the same kind of problem. Some models of satellite are not sold in some countries I think.

In addition, yet once I'm not sure of your model of satellite, but you can see the discontinued models.

  • Satellite 2450 s203, "Key Blind" vs Alt right

    Hello!
I have a problem with my Satellite 2450 s203 keyboard. The sequence of keys on my keyboard is (right): bar space, "blind button", Ins, Del, RightAlt.
"Blind touch" is the key with any letter/sign on them. When you type, you will get "------" ("' | ' with pressed Shift"). A special touch for "-" ("" | "") exist on the keyboard as well (with the signs- and | clearly marked on it)!

To get specific special characters for the Polish language I frequently do RightAlt Key, which is too far to the right, to hit him. Usually the faucets of my finger on the delete key instead of Alt right, and the effect of this makes me nervous ;-)

The question is: is there any software provided for the mapping of this key"blind"? What it is?
And finally: it is possible to map the Alt key on the right the key "blind"?

I found a resolution to http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/input/w2kscan-map.mspx, but I do not know what scan code generate this key "blind."

Thank you in advance for your help!

  • Satellite 2450-201: impossible to format SD card 4 GB card

    Hello

IA´m an owner of Satellite 2450-201 and I have a big problem.
I just bought a 4 GB SD memory card and Nice, it adapts to the side slot on my laptop.

This is the first time using the memory card, so a needs-to-format window appears when I try to access.

The window has the right information: 3.78 GB, Fat32,...

I click 'OK' and informs the Windows (XP SP2): impossible to complete format (here is Portuguese, then it is translated into English)

If the correct size is informed, 3.78 GB, why windows can't format it?

My laptop is virus and spyware free (only 23 spots in the running and supervision), I have SP2, Bios (most recent) 1.50, SD my controller drivers is up to date (the last and the only one that was released in 2003).

Also tried third party "Panasonic SDFormatter 2.0". He reports the (physical) unit or the mem SD stick is not compatible with the program. And the same effect occurs: the Sd device lost the nice icon and I need to remove/insert the SD card to see again the same story.

    Help me please, friends.

    Hello

It of very strange that you re possible to see the plugin SD card. Some people suggested that this SD card supports only 256MB, 512 MB cards and more with no MMC support.

I put t know if you have a format utility Toshiba SD card installed on the laptop, but on many notebooks of utility such Tosh is preinstalled and could be used for formatting of the card.

According to some poster in this forum the Portege M400 utility format could handle 2 GB, but not sure about 4 GB SD cards.
If possible, you can try to install this utility on your laptop, but you know you don't have much chance that it works.

I think that in this case only an external SD card reader will help you.

    Hello

If you use the internal CD/DVD drive you press simply the C key immediately after starting the laptop or you will simply change the boot order in the BIOS to CD/DVD drive.
