Problem recovery disc HARD on the Satellite C660

My apologies if this is the wrong sub-forum:

The fool that I am, I changed my WIndows login and password since I use very long passwords, I don't know what I changed it to. Guessing is out of the question.

So I turned on my computer laptop while holding the key 0, what brought me to the Windows Boot Manager screen. I pressed F8 on Windows 7 for advanced options and opted for "Recovery Mode", as I've used in the past to install the operating system from scratch.

It asks me to select a keyboard layout, and then enter my user name and password to proceed to the recovery of HARD drive. It is this lack of password which is the reason for the recovery.

Any advice on what I can do?

Thank you

On this step, you must enter your login name and login password of Windows. Without correct password, you will not be able to start the installation of HARD drive recovery.

There is option to install the recovery image. You can do so now using recovery DVDs. You have created using the preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator?

  • Can I use the Qosmio recovery discs to recover the Satellite P750?

I have a Satellite P750 with an irreparably damaged HARD disk and none of the recovery disks. I have a Qosmio X 770, I can make the recovery disks from.

Both machines were equipped with Windows 7 and the two license codes. Can I use recovery since the Qosmio discs to load on a new HARD drive into the P750?

I realize that the drivers may be different, but if I can get the P750 operation, I can then correct the drivers.

I don't want to pay $66 for Toshiba disks, as much as other manufacturers such as Dell don't charge $20.

    No, you can t.
The recovery image is a package.
It contains the Windows system, but also the drivers and tools.
This means that you must install drivers Qosmio on Satellite P and this would make for difficulties.

    Hello

I'm afraid that something was wrong during the process of recovery of m.
I think you can try to repeat once more. Maybe it would work. In the case of the disk HARD recovery isn't possible, you will need to retrieve the laptop using recovery media.

Do you have created disk recovery or recovery USB flash memory stick in the past?

  • No recovery disc supplied with my Satellite P300

I recently bought a new laptop from Toshiba, Satellite P300. It has Vista installed out of the box, but there is no recovery media supplied with the package. I'm afraid that if something can go wrong in the future, I will not be able to repair my operating system.

    Two questions:
    (1) is this normal that there is no restore disk provided with the Satellite P300? In other words, other customers who bought the same laptop doesn't have that either. Or is it an exception and an error in my local provider. In the manual on the "included in this package" list is any mention of a recovery disc supplied with the package.

    (2) can I get a Toshiba Recovery disk if something is wrong?

    Hello

    > Is it normal that there is no restore disk provided with the Satellite P300?
Yes, because the laptop was equipped with HARD drive recovery option that allows to recover the laptop from the HARD drive.

    > Can I get a Toshiba Recovery disk if something is wrong?
There are some pre-installed Toshiba Recovery disc creator software.
This software creates a Toshiba Recovery DVD. I think that this info was published in the user manual which must be preinstalled on your laptop.

So, I strongly recommend reading the user manual and to create this DVD of recovery before you change anything on the laptop.

    Cheers mate

  • Modeling 3D (Sketch Up) programs keep crashing on the Satellite C660 - 28 d

    Hi guys,.

Obtained the Satellite C660 - 28 d to Christmas as my old laptop was dying on its feet. So far I've had no problems with it, except for when you use a selection of programs, namely Sketch Up and the rhinoceros are two 3D modeling programs. Strangely enough, AutoCAD Revit works great, I have imagined would have been more demanding on the system.

When Rhino opening he allows me to choose my model before crashing and displaying a message saying "Rhino 4.0 has encountered a problem and needs to close" and with Sketch Up I get again select a model but then a message saying "Google SketchUp has produced a bug splat and needs to close" followed by a similar error report form that never works when I try and send the error. This is happening on SketchUp 8, after having uninstalled and reinstalled SketchUp 8 and then uninstall and install SketchUp 7, all with the same result.

It has been suggested to me that there is an error with the graphics card and I have to download a driver, but the only driver on the Toshiba site that would make sense to me is the display driver, I have installed and makes no difference.

Please help me, I need the use of these types of programs for the University.

    Hello

It is possible to have these problems because of display driver.
You should maybe contact the software manufacturer and ask for help. Toshiba doesn't third party software support. Software maker has better experience with own product. I presume that what they have tested on different platforms and need to know what can be the problem.

  • Upgrade of RAM up to 8 GB on the Satellite C660-180

    Hey guys,.

Thanks a lot for taking a peek at my post.
I have the Satellite C660-108. I think the upgrade to 3 GB up to 8 GB ram.
I'll be very grateful if someone could answer my questions before making a purchase.

It is a model of Ram. I think of buying.

Kingston HyperX Plug and Play DDR3 1600 MHz CL9 8GB SODIMM Memory Module

I wonder if it would correspond to my laptop?

Also, I found this on C660-108

Type: Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator HD
amount of memory: 1 273 MB shared memory with 3 GB of installed system memory and up to 1 696 MB with 4 GB of system memory, (with system of 64-bit pre-installed operating)
    memory type: shared.

If I update up to 8 GB ram it would mean my graphics system memory will be up 3 392 MB as well?

    Thank you very much.

    Kit

According to the technical page of Toshiba laptop, 8 GB of RAM (2 x 4 GB) are certainly possible.
Kingston is a good manufacturer of RAM and provide good quality modules.

The RAM modules should support the following sepcs:
    DDR3 1066 MHz (PC3-8500)

Processor PENTIUM P6100 (2.00 GHZ) supports a 1,066 MHZ FSB and therefore the PC3-8500 must operate at full speed 1066 MHz

    > f I upgrade ram to 8 GB it would mean my graphics system memory will be up 3 392 MB as well?
More RAM means more can be shared with the GPU, but this is controlled by the graphics driver automatically.

  • How can I disable tap-to-click on the Satellite C660/C660D?

There is no option to disable it on this laptop, I looked for the answer online but nothing, there seems to be no way to do it on this laptop model. I tried to download the new driver for touchpad of the site but had absolutely no effect and gave me more options to turn it off, it has changed nothing. Now completely stuck and its driving me crazy!

The mouse click also on its own randomly even if Im not to touch, always seems to hurt when im game.

I still want to use the touch pad to move the pointer autour, just don't want to use it to click.

As far as I know the Satellite C660 supports Synaptics touchpad.
The Synaptics touchpad driver should support the tap to click option.

In order to ensure that Synaptics driver has been installed.
Then go to control panel-> mouse-> last tab (button settings)
Now, you need to access the properties of Synaptics and here you should find the option called tapping

  • Satellite L750 - if I use the recovery disc HARD Will this work?

    Guy Alrights

I have a L750 machine that gives me problems at the moment, so I'm going back to Strath, as when I brought brand new... So I wonder if I use HARD drive recovery which will be re install windows and all the drivers and all the pre install software? Or what will be installed?

    Hello

HARD drive recovery would fix the laptop back to factory settings.
Recovery of HARD drive installs the image of Toshiba. Toshiba is a package that contains the system Windows, drivers and tools and utilities.

But I read the other thread you created here, and it seems you did a clean installation
In this case the HARD disk recovery would not work more :(

  • Satellite A200: Can I use the recovery disc without wiping the drive

I read the threads on this forum, but I did not come with an exact answer to my problem.

With my regular PC, I got a disc of Installation of Vista, which is also a recovery disk (like that could do with XP). One of the most useful things is that when you start from the disc you have an option to "fix" the system, which means that all the vital files (such as the bootloader...) will be restored, but otherwise all data will remain. This is extremely important when for example you install a dual boot with Linux, when often Vista refuses to start and to repair the boot loader has solved the problem. Of course it can easily and quickly fix all kinds of other problems in the system as well.

My laptop Toshiba A200 (otherwise a wonderful machine), came with the Toshiba product recovery disc. From everything I read on the forum and what he says on the disc itself, I understand that it only allows a total reinstallation of the system, set at the factory, wiping your drive and everything on it.

Toshiba really leaves us without a 'repair' option '?
I find that quite amazing, because after all, I paid for the Vista operating system, so why shouldn't I get the options I would have if I had an original Vista disc?

If all the above I have is right, it means that if I want to install a dual boot with Ubuntu and would get a bootloader problem, I loose all my data when I have to repair the boot loader? (A problem which, with the option 'fix', takes only 5 minutes to fix!).

I would like to hear reactions, solutions, suggestions or alternatives.

    Thanks in advance,
    Yossi Beck

    Hey Yossi

I think you have misunderstood something!

You received with the image of Toshiba Toshiba Recovery CD! The image contains drivers Vista OS, Toshiba, tools, utilities, and additional programs!

Please don't compare this disc for the original CD of Microsoft Vista and don t mix it!

So using this disk, you can set the laptop back to factory settings!
This is very useful because this procedure takes about 10 minutes only and you get everything functioning OS with all the drivers, tools, etc.

Please note that no all users and customers who buy these phones are technicians and scientists ;) but simply newbie and such possibility of recovery is always welcome!

but the use of this recovery CD format the whole HARD drive and erases all partitions.
That is why it s advisable to back up the data before using the recovery CD/DVDs

I am not very computer - I can not enter my laptop Toshiba Satellite C. I had written my password, but it is not accepted and I lost my recovery disc.

You may have problem with Windows password or BIOS password?

In any case, if you want to install Windows again using HARD drive recovery option you Windows password, so you will not be able to install Windows again.

  • HP mini 110 cannot use recovery discs - BIOS insists the hard drive test failed. Drive works on another computer.

My niece has a HP mini 110 that does not have a day. Do a check of the hard drive in the bios, it failed (7 on playback). I though I should get a new one so I ordered another. While waiting for that to happen, I had access to a usb SATA bridge and the opperating system was beyond repair and the unreadable disk from HP mini, I decided to try to repair the disk. So I reformatted the old disk using my desktop computer. Windows had no problem with the drive and it seems to work very well.

I also had to order the recovery disks (intro to windows 7).

In any case try to reinstall using the recovery via the DVD USB drive disks. It kept coming back with error 17 - I found a hard drive error. I also tried to install with a Windows XP installation disc and it was more explicit hard drive it said it had NOT installed it - or "it does not match the sheet material for unity" (or words to that effect)

To get the new hard drive - the same problem. Even if both of these drives operate as USB connected to my main desktop drives. SO my conclusion is that the BIOS start inspect the hard drive, check the configuration of the formatting. that is the size and the partitions etc. and when they do not correspond to the idea of BIOS of good care he rejects the hard drive and finds it is not installed.  Or maybe to do some files on the hard drive of base. Whatever it is, the bios concludes that there is no hard drive and will always return a "failed" to the hard drive of the bios test.

Any ideas on that? I need to know exactly which partitions are expected by the bios. Does anyone have these specs, or maybe you have a mini HP and can examine your hard disk and tell me the amounts of partition and the size?

Unless I can get the bios to recognize the hard drive, I don't see how I can reinstall the operating system on it. Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you

    HI David

Well, I hope this is my last post here. I had already printed a return address for the recovery disks, being returned to the Netherlands. Just for the beggar of cast iron, however, I decided to try just once more would like to think that now that there is a kind of operating system on the hard drive it might work. But unfortunately still; no joy.

All this time I would be considered may not be something wrong with the external hard drive because it was no problem to start the installation of XP. So I was just wondering maybe it does not receive enough power (it is a slimline portable DVD player that gets its power from a second usb) so I made a DVD player external adhock using an IDE hard drive enclosure (which has its own power supply and an old internal DVD burner I had put aside.

To my surprise and joy; the HP mini started the recovery process. I am now watching reformat the windows partition and copy the files needed to restore the hard disk.

So anyone with a similar problem to the HP mini not recognize the recovery disks is my advice; try an another external DVD drive, preferably one with its own supply of.

Thanks for all your help and patience David.

  • Connection problem with the satellite C660 - 24L

    Hello world

I have a Toshiba satellite c660 - 24L running windows 7 and have had a problem with internet connection in the last two days.

Marketing, the internet works very well for around a minute and then I lose the connection. The computer says still connected but the network map displays a problem between the computer and the Wi - Fi router. After that restart the internet works fine again, and then disconnects after ~ 1 min.

A few times, the computer froze, and gave me a blue screen and memory dump, and then a forced restart.

Computer behaving the same way when connected and disconnected from the mains.

All other devices will connect to the router talk-talk with no problems.

Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance.

    Lewis.

Have you noticed a few problems if you use the local network connection?
Original Toshiba WLAN driver is pre-installed on your computer?

To be honest, it is not easy to say why this show is starting to happen so suddenly.
Try to back up OS to an earlier time using System Restore tool just to see if the problem will still be there.
