    My idea is to copy all the files from my HP System Recovery DVD on an external hard drive and start over. Or I should rethink that?

    Thank you!

    Yes, I just read a thread where you posted a few comments on this machine. Regarding the problems of DVD player, this seems to be common on the same machines that end up needing a new GPU ball so I tend to think that it has something to do with the mother/controller card. Previous DV series with Nvidia problem generally lost WiFi, later models have problems with CD/DVD player.

  • Trying to recover from a disaster

    It is difficult to explain... the entire chain of disasters, largely due to bad practices. I'd appreciate a lot of help

    We (really, we had...) a server Oracle 10g 10.2.0.1 6 databases running on it. We did backups RMAN bands to each other using Symantec Netbackup. The script was like this:

    RUN {}
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch00 TYPE 'SBT_TAPE ';
    BACKUP
    BACKUP %
    FORMAT ' bk_u % u_s % s_p % p_t % you
    DATABASE;
    SQL 'alter system archive log current';
    OUTPUT CHANNEL ch00;
    # Backup all archive logs
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch00 TYPE 'SBT_TAPE ';
    BACKUP
    FILESPERSET 20
    FORMAT ' arch-s % s-p % p'
    REMOVE ALL ARCHIVELOG ENTRY;
    OUTPUT CHANNEL ch00;
    # Backup control files
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch00 TYPE 'SBT_TAPE ';
    BACKUP
    FORMAT "ctrl_u % u_s s_p p_t %t % %.
    CURRENT CONTROLFILE;
    OUTPUT CHANNEL ch00;
    }

    Last week the server crashed down, due to problems of phisycal on hard drives, and we could not get it to the top. Then restore the databases from scratch since the backup tapes that we have.
    We had the RMAN catalog on the same server database... so we lost too much and we can't use ir to restore.
    We cannot use the dbid because we don't know them and we cannot see them on the server.
    In order to obtain the control files of the backup, another way to restore of databases, we reviewed documentation and it says it takes to use the name of the control file. The control file name problem is the same in all databases, so RMAN always return the last database saved file.
    Perhaps the first thing to do is to restore the database with RMAN, but I don't ' know if it is possible in this situation.

    To will be appreciated. Thank you very much

    Hello
    Now, I understand your question. It seems that the format for the controlfile doesn't generate the same name.

    -rw - SYSTEM SYSTEM 7340032 jul 10 12 ctrl_us_pt:------.
    -rw - SYSTEM SYSTEM 7340032 jul 10 12 ctrl_us_pt:------.
    -rw - SYSTEM SYSTEM 7340032 jul 10 12 ctrl_us_pt:------.
    -rw - SYSTEM SYSTEM 9175040 Jun 09 12 ctrl_us_pt:------.
    -rw - SYSTEM SYSTEM 8650752 Jun 09 12 ctrl_us_pt:------.
    -rw - SYSTEM SYSTEM 7340032 Jun 09 12 ctrl_us_pt:------.

    You can try to restore the controlfiles from backup items.
    as:

    RUN {}
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch00 TYPE 'SBT_TAPE ';
    RESTORE CONTROLFILE to ' / tmp/test_1.ctl ' to 'bk_uh9mh1p66_s553_p1_t756081862 ';
    OUTPUT CHANNEL ch00;
    }

    Only songs that contain the system01.dbf will have a backup controlfile so (if controlfile autobackup is off) so try several pieces.
    Here some results a test of a bunch of restoration by using the above script.

    If the piece has no controlfile:
    - - - -
    From restoration to 19 - AUG - 2011:15:51:40

    channel tc1: restoring controlfile
    output channel: tc1
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-00569: = ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS =.
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-03002: failure of the restore command to 2011-08-19 15:53:28
    ORA-19615: some files not found in the backup set
    ORA-19613: datafile 0 not found in the backup set

    - - - -
    If the room contains a controlfile:

    From restoration to 19 - AUG - 2011:15:55:03

    channel tc1: restoring controlfile
    channel tc1: full restoration
    Finished restoring to 19 - AUG - 2011:15:55:18
    - - - -

  • recover from the recovery partition

    I found several entries by searching in the forum, but nobody seems to be similar to my problem:

    I want to recover my windows vista system partition using the partition recovery on my T61p.

    It worked very well for me last time. But in the meantime I installed Ubuntu which was installing the grub loader, I think that what causes the problem all to rewrite the mbr.

    By pressing the Thinvantage key while booting does not show me the usable entries. If I boot from the Thinkpad - Recovery Boot disk iexpect only after pressing 'next' linux partitions and data will be deleted also.

    But especially as I could finally recovery... "Select the partition you want to use as the system partition" or another message like this.

    I remember, I was delighted when I saw this message. Because at the time, I was doing this I was expecting something like that. But today, that would be great, I don't have to reinstall Linux.

    Can you please tell me how I'm going to continue?

    Thank you

    For 3 or 4 days I'm looking a solution for my problem.

    I tried many things and spent a lot of time reading about similar issues.

    Windows Vista Ultimate on my T61p is not able to upgrade to SP1. I did it via ThinkVantage System Update, Windows Update function function and I downloaded the SP1 of Microsoft.com.

    Meanwhile my games installed do not work, I reinstalled them and then got an error message like: ereg.exe does not work.

    Installation completed then and I got the same error as before, at the start of the game.

    I had a serious accident before 4 months and I spent all the time in hospitals. My only satisfaction now is my new T61p and I don't get to work.

    PROBLEM:

    Maybe I did something wrong before update so I tried to use the recovery feature to set windows to the same status as when I got the laptop.

    I tried using the CD Boot Vista added, disk 1-c and the last c. I also tried using the recovery partition which I did not have to work when I started this thread.

    During this time I installed the rescue and recovery 4.2 and now he got the correct menu entry. When I select this function (F11) starting the computer was 'normal' and I had the selection of GRUB menu...

    I also found a scandiskpatch.exe which should correct some problems of RnR using Vista and 4.2 RnR. But when I doubleclick on it, I get a message that my computer do not have good condition for the correction of program (or something else, I use the German language pack.

    I want to restore my computer, and then try to update and if this doesn't work I still will have to find a solution for this.

    Please help me with this very annoying problem.

  • p6210f crash, unable to recover from a previous date or access system recovery

    Hello, I have a HP with Windows 7 Home Edition 32 bit p6210f. We have done only recommended updates, added a modem, the router and the printer (all in buying there are almost 3 years).

    Our computer had been freezing so I ran Norton and it said we had a Trojan horse (I don't remember the details for the moment) the virus which, according to the web, have appeared around August 2012. Once I discovered this, I went online to find a solution like Norton said it took a manual removal. It's freezing, close and gives me the blue screen crash dump to avoid additional damage when the computer starts. I tried to find the computer from an earlier date (started with the oldest date and working current) and it gives me an error that the system recovery did not complete and it is usually followed by a crash. I tried to access the recovery files to put them on a USB key or make the recovery disks, but then he tells me that they are not available, even though I know they are there. Once again, this message is usually follow up with a message from blue screen crash dump.

    I know that the computer is on the older side, but we use to surf the web and now my son needs to do her homework, so I need to get back to work. Other viruses and errors, the computer runs generally very quickly and don't usually get us any errors or have questions so I think it is worth recovering it.

    Here are the specifications of your desktop HP Pavilion p6210f. According to the specifications, the computer has been put on sale about 3 years ago and came from the factory with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit). Please read this HP document titled ""looking for recovery discs?' for more information on 'Recover your computer without recovery disks', 'Creating recovery disc (or USB storage device solution)' and 'Order of the recovery disks from HP in the United States and the Canada'. " Since you say that your computer is infected by a virus, Windows recovery and/or create discs of recovery may leave the intact virus or reproduce it. Try to turn on the computer and immediately tapping the "F11" key and about once a second later until the computer starts in the recovery partition. If it fail to boot into recovery, your best bet is to order a 'clean' set of discs of recovery HP or third-party provider ComputerSurgeons.com
