  • Problem update the Atheros wifi in my windows vista

    I have a Toshiba Sat with Vista. Whenever windows update my atheros gel to start the computer. I had to do a full restore twice in the past week. Can anyone help?

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial140.html

    Understand the Extras in Windows Vista and Windows Update info is at the link above.

    Remove the Vista updates; two ways to do this:

    1. a System Restore to before the updates:

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > System Restore > restore time/choose your own date > next

    If you use Norton, disable it before using the system restore.

    If it is impossible to enter the Normal Mode, do a Safe Mode system restore:

    Press F8 at the startup/power and the list of startup options, use THE ARROW key to select Safe mode > and then press ENTER.

    System restore steps according to the info above.

    Also:

    2. click on start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > updates installed in the lower left corner in the next window

    > then click the one that you don't want > uninstall will appear at the top > uninstall it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, on the page where you clicked "Installed updates", click on change settings at the top left corner it
    > Change update settings in the next page of AutoUpdate to "check for updates but let me choose etc" > OK ".
    When you take a look at pending updates, you can either download/install them one at the time, namely the update causing you problems.
    > and if you don't need that an individual > right-click on > UAC prompt > hide it
    See you soon.
  • Problem updating driver wireless Thinkpad x100e
    I downloaded the latest update driver for 'ThinkPad Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter II 802.11bgn', version 1.00.0026.0 for Win7 (32-bit), the 6iws21ww.exe file. I run it to extract the files, and then proceed with the installation. I get an error current through the installation:
    Cannot run the file C:\drivers\win\wlanrltk\setup.exe
    CreateProcess failed: code 740
    The requested operation requires a rise.
    What does that mean? Why I can't install?
    Thank you
    Doug
    Hello
    It seems that the update requires higher privileges to install that are currently available for the title of the login of the user account.
    Try to go into the directory C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLANRLTK\, right click on the installer. EXE file, selecting run as administrator from the context menu to popup and then accept the guest user account control that allows the software to install.
    Does make a difference?
    Kind regards
  • relative to update driver for WLAN INTEL 82562V card: how is?
    One of the problems preventing an update from WIN XP to WIN 7.0 is an 'UPDATE of above mentioned DRIVER.
    * QUESTION: WHERE IT IS POSSIBLE? INTEL? Your advice please.
    I know that for uninstall applications, and save the data to a new custom installation of 7.0 Win.  7.0 Upgrade Advisor to win ran.
    Win XP drivers cannot be updated, so maybe that an upgrade is not supported in all cases.
    Best regards, Doug
    Doug (questioner) here. I see no link to inform him that he's answered my question.
    I happened to visit the Intel Web site (to check the drivers).
    'Not supported' was the result. Thanks to all, Doug
  • S205 Lenovo with RaLink 3090 series wifi adapter problems - update driver 3.2.1 solve?
    Hello.
    I just got the Lenovo S205 with RaLink 3090 series wifi card and had a steady decline until I downloaded the Version 3.2.1 update which was included in the link for the 309 X (X being 0 for me for my wifi card) software/drivers on RaLink site, under the Help menu.
    Go to ralinktech.com and go to Support > downloads > Windows and you will see a list of several RaLink devices which include the adapter X 309. I chose to download/install the full utility with the driver. I remember well, it may be more 28 megabytes.
    I hope it works for you!
    Update:
    I uninstalled the RaLink wireless utility that came with the 3.2.1 pilot, but it uninstalled the driver too. Then I reinstalled and activated the option "install driver only", went into the control panel > hardware and audio > Device Manager > network adapters >
    RALink RT3090 802.11n WiFi adapter > double-click to open the properties > power management tab > uncheck "allow this computer to turn off device to save energy ', 'OK', close and restart programs.
    So when I start or wake the system from sleep, I click the Wireless connections icon in the lower right (next), bar and then click on the link that I want to connect, and then click 'Connect' While it takes 8 seconds to connect, it is worth MUCH more that to have the connection drop constantly, and I probably reboot my system only once when he didn't to reconnect out of a State of sleep.
    I had a MUCH more homogeneous behaviour since this change, and I hope it works well for you too!
  • Satellite L20-196 - updates to the Atheros WLAN driver
    As may relative novice, I ask why Toshiba have updated the version of the driver (Windows XP) wireless lan Atheros three times in the last two months? The last update 25/05/11. It would not be because it's still a beta version and it would be better to wait for a final version?
    Thank you.
    Hello
    Only the Toshiba himself knows why they have updated the driver. Here it s only a user to user forum so I doubt someone can answer your question because only this is no people of Toshiba.
    But why is it so important? If you n t have any problems you can forget the driver updates. This is only necessary if something doesn't work properly.
    Theoretically the new drivers don t contains bug fixes and supports Atheros WLAN cards. Who knows?
    I have a portable Satellite Pro M70 under Win XP SP3 and would be very happy of little help and answers to the following problems:
    1 Wireles Internet connection problem: my laptop Satellite Pro M70-220 (part number: PSM75E-00D008G3) is an adapter Intel(r) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection, with driver version 9.0.2.25, according to Device Manager
    I am staying with someone, and I'm trying to use his internet connection through its network (WPA2) secure wireless home.
    I could connect my laptop to the wireless network, but I can not get Internet Explorer and Outlook Express to work on it.
    I tried the Intel Wireless driver update to the latest version of the driver 9.0.4.39, but got the same result, and I'm back to Driver version 9.0.2.25.
    If you'd be grateful if someone could advise me on what could cause this problem and how to solve it.
    2. wireless driver update: site Web de Toshiba advised me for the two years that there is a driver update available (Atheros Wireless Driver v 7.7.0.406.2) for my laptop, but I have NOT installed, because the wireless network adapter Intel(r) PRO/Wireless 2200BG, NOT of Atheros.
    Ques:am I correct?
    Question: Why the Web from Toshiba site recommends the Atheros wireless driver update?
    Thank you
    AlanCB
    Hi Alan
    1.
    Can you use IE and other applications if the WIFI network is not secure with WPA2?
    You can test using WEP?
    Just to be safe because of securing WLAN.
    2.
    You are right. Your model has Intel WLAN card and if you need a new driver just visit Portal Toshiba WLAn under http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/
    I really don't know what service or upgrade of system you are using, but if everything works well you don't need any update to date.
  • Satellite S50D - A - 10 G - accidentally uninstalled Atheros WLAN driver
    Hey,.
    So, be a fool, I accidentally uninstalled the Atheros driver, and then I noticed that my laptop is therefore more able to detect my WiFi at home. After looking around, online, apparently it's because I uninstalled Atheros? (Sorry, I'm a noob to computer).
    So I try to download the driver for my laptop, but I can't seem to find where to download the driver. My laptop is the Satellite S50D - A - 10 G, and I do not know where to look. I tried to look on the Toshiba.com site, and they said that my serial number was invalid etc..
    Advice and assistance would be greatly appreciated!
    Sorry, I have very little idea of what I'm doing!
    I ve checked the Toshiba download page and found the Atheros WLAN driver.
    You can download it if you visit http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
    Please choose your Satellite S50D-A, with the PSKKWE part number and you will find it.
    If there is still some problem let us know.
  • HP G60: update for Atheros AR5007 802. 11 b / g Driver HP G60 local only
    Hi all!
    Hoping that someone who has a lot more of an idea about this can help me because I can't really find what I need to fix this!
    Basically - I have a computer old enough HP G60 laptop running Windows Vista and using some providers of internet (SKY and Virgin Media) I can connect to the internet, but it only shows Local only. (I don't have this problem when it is connected to BT Openworld is told by the way, not sure of the relevance of this?) I can connect to my wifi with my iPhone without problems, so currently connect to the internet using the USB cable, but it's so slow!
    Is it possible to update the Atheros driver for this problem?
    Very grateful to anyone who could help me!
    Thanks in advance
    Hello:
    You probably need to install the updated wireless driver that provides support for WPA2 security.
    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?sp4ts.Oid=5060881&swItemId=ob_108905_1&swEnvOid=4059#
    Check to make sure that the new driver has replaced a former and indicates a date of version 2011.
    If she does not, uninstall the device by right clicking on the Atheros wireless card, select uninstall, reboot and install the new driver.
  • Satellite R630 - Message about the update driver WLAN
    I get the message driver LAN Wireless update. Have tried several times but still get the same result, messgae I need to update my driver wireless lan.
    Appreciate any help
    Hey Buddy,
    What program tells you that you need to update the driver WLAN?
    In General if everything works properly, there is no reason for an update driver.
    Never touch a running system! ;)
  • Satellite L50-A01Q - WLAN not detected after installing the Atheros WLAN driver
    I have a C50-A01Q. I recently replace the hard drive for an SSD. I installed Win8.1 via a DVD downloaded from Microsoft. I also installed the Download Driver Atheros Wireless LAN from Toshiba. However, the system does not recognize the WLAN. Someone reinstall windows 8.1? How did you get the driver?
    Maybe your laptop has a Realtek or Intel WLAN card inside. Specification of your laptop does not for me so I can't say with certainty what WLAN card is inside.
    Try to install other drivers and check in Device Manager.
  • Problem of update driver ATI video or buggy drivers-solved
    Attempted to update the video drivers for my NEW PC P6-2133W and it was a nightmare, but I had the original reinstalled driver and the PC works well again...
    Knew not update ATI drivers would be so hard, a game crashing a lot, to half of drivers installed, but I guess I'm back to normal.
    Lesson here, I learned is only updated if a party requests an updated driver, I think, will wait 12.7 and 12.8 for out then maybe try to update again
    If anyone can share tips to make it easier next time I would be grateful
    Well I solved the problem with the program was figured out Secondlife support Open GL Vertex buffer causing crash video driver, I am now running 12.6 catalyst successfully, crashes in all games, I hope in the future the Open GL Vertex Buffer bug is fixed in the video drivers so I can resume some framerates.
    But the whole works well these days
    Card is Radeon 6530d
    HP P6-2133W
    Driver currently installed: 12.6 Catalyst WHQL
