  According to the description of the problem, it seems that media player pauses and stops when you connect and reconnect USB portable HARD disk or by phone on Windows 7 computer.

  If there is audio or video files on hard disk or USB and phone, Media Player will attempt to add to the library and so it can suspend or stop.

  I suggest you run the Troubleshooter in Windows Media Player Settings and check if it helps.

  It's really not easy to say what can be the problem. I use two external hard drives (30 and 60 GB) and two of them that I can use with various Toshiba laptops. At home, I have Satellite P20 and it works perfectly. The HARD drive is recognized automatically and after a few seconds I can use.

  In my opinion you need to update all the drivers but try to connect some other disk external DRIVE on your device. If there is no possibility, take your laptop in-store PC and test it. I really don't understand why this is happening. By the way: I connect always the two USB cables because of the speed of data transfer.

  The problem with your laptop is Skylake chipset and lack of USB3 drivers in your windows installation media.

  Skylake chipset does not have USB2 support until after you have installed the chipset driver.

  The solution to your dilemma is to run this tool on a PC with W8.1 or W10.

  I want to connect my printer Deskjet 722C for my new laptop Windows 7 USB port parallel port.    Has anyone linked successfully an old HP parallel port printer to a Windows 7 computer.  If so, what cable did you use and what have you got to do to make this work?  The others don't seem to be for Windows 7 and also seem to indicate problems in general.  Apparently, it is not as simple as a connecting cable.

  There are two possible problems here.  First of all, if you are using the 64 bit version of Windows 7, you need to apply the patch here.  There is a bug in the supplied driver that causes the spooler crash in x 64 versions of Vista or Windows 7, the patch corrects this problem.

  Second, as mentioned above the USB-parallel cables, converters can be problematic.  Make sure that the model you have is supported in Windows 7.  The links here have jobs where people are models of converters used successfully with Windows 7.

  The old HDD on your machine is a little thicker, but at least 4 screws I do not think that new SSD will circulate in the case. I have actually put new SSD in one of my laptop (not HP) and no problem, BUT I don't move this laptop. If so, blue tac can help.

  I recently acquired the dead laptop HP 2000 model bf69WM with a hard drive (error in the log of BIOS: 03F0). I studied a replacement and found gaps in the Service Guide.   Is a license for your laptop to Windows 7 or Windows 8? Can't help much with Windows 8, but if you have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit here is a link to an .iso that is a legal copy of the operating system that you are naked.
