  Well, as far as know that the operating system is unable to recognize the devices if the external USB device needs more power than the USB port provides. In this case, the USB devices must have an external power supply.
  In addition, try to remove the USB port on the Device Manager and restart the operating system.

• Problem with Webcam integrated on portege series

  When I try to use the webcam, it comes up with the following error message:

  It has 2 card, a Radeon HD 4200 (512 MB) and a 5470 (2 GB).

  For some time now, I have a problem with the 5470 card, it no longer works.

  Based on the software page and drivers found here, the unit was not tested and certified for Windows 8.  Check this site to find out what to expect during the upgrade of Windows 8 and if the device has been tested for Windows 8 by HP.

  This Microsoft support document indicates a code 10 in Device Manager is largely a driver problem.  Because the device did not receive Windows 8 drivers of HP, this makes things a little more complicated because of the new architecture of Windows 8 driver.

  This does not, however, mean that it is not possible to get this corrected.  You can try to install the driver of Windows 7 in compatibility mode.  I got this same error in my old laptop that I have upgraded to Windows 8 and this is what did the trick for me.

  Try these steps exactly as described here.  The order is very important because the process is sensitive and generally fails if made out of use and not exactly as shown.  Here is the driver you need.

I bought to use for work and college classes and bought Adobe PhotoShop Elements and CorelDraw x 7 software (after PhotoShop has not worked) for photo editing. The screen resolution is so high that I see even the buttons program, Windows Picture Viewer and many other programs. They appear in and 1 "x 2" square in the center of the screen). Can I decrease the resolution of the screen with less desirable results. The laptop also freezes at random and must be delivered to work again. There is also a major shift by typing in Word 2013, Facebook, Tumblr & Pinterest. I spent 8 hours trying to get some sort of resolution with all the problems only to be told by Dell support that he's spent 30 days return period and there is nothing they can do to help me. I'm just trying to get this fixed, replaced or repaired (at this point, I would like my money). I can't talk with anyone in the United States (not Dell policy) and do not know where to turn. I started to document (images and videos) many questions that keep appearing daily. Technical support tells me the question with the hi res screen is a known issue and they are sorry but there are no miracle or patches. I even took off from work and led to their location in Plano, TX to try to get ANY kind of help. No luck there. I work inside and many of our technicians look at there, both say there are problems with the laptop.

  Anyone know who I can talk to (a person in the United States would be although I was very missed by India support person I spoke with last) or where I can take the laptop to someone with Dell show what is happening with it? I am at a loss here. I am a mother single life work paycheck to paycheck and spent over $ 1500 on this laptop and the software I can't use. I own a very expensive paper weight now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Do a hard reset:
  1 disconnect all devices and remove all USB devices and multimedia cards.
  2 disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery and then press in and hold the button for at least 1 minute.
  3 reconnect the power adapter (do not connect the battery), press the power button.

  Verification is your problem is resolved or not.

  If you want to do a restore of Windows, follow this here.  If you want full restoration factory (deletion of data), then follow this link using F10 or this link using the Assist on Windows 8 unit button.  As a precaution, you should backup your data...

• Satellite Pro L10 problem with Ports COM/Hyperterminal & Bluetooth

  I have the following problems with the above machine:

  (1) I have attached an external series COM port to the machine. However, I can not connect to the COM Port using Hyperterminal.
  (2) I installed a Bluetooth USB adapter, but I can't view the protocol configuration.

  Each of the above works perfectly with another laptop that doesn't have a Bluetooth or even a network card.

  Everyone has experienced similar problems. I use WinXP SP2.

  1, in which is the external COM port connected? Is detected in a straight path in Device Manager? What is the error msg to Hyperterminal?
  When connected via PCMCIA, try to change the settings for PCMCIA slot in the BIOS!

  2, try to reinstall the Toshiba Bluetooth stack! There may be some problems. The MS Bluetooth stack does not work properly with the Toshiba devices and one of the earlier Toshiba Bluetooth stack is not signed by Windows XP Service Pack 2!
