Problem with the cable on PC with usb54g wireless network

I have a pc with a usb54g interface that communicates very well with my wrt54g2 router.  The router is 192.168.1.1 (default), and the pc has a static (wireless) address of 192.168.1.10.  My problem just is whenever I try to connect to one of the connections on the pc to a switch 100base2.  (The 100baseT interface is on 192.168.2.1).

Whenever I turn on the switch, I lose my connection to the IP address that my satellite modem has attributed to the 'internet' on the wrt54g2 interface.  I am running Windows XP, SP3 on the pc.  Can I fix my problems with the installation of the network in the windows GUI, or should I change my command prompt routing tables?  I suspect that, when I get an address for one network other than that the pc is aware, he is trying to use the interface that he thinks is faster, obviously wired LAN.   I apologize in advance if this has already been covered on the forum.

You can do this by using the GUI under Windows by changing the metric parameter of the interface under the advanced part of the configuration of the connection network GUI.

  • Wusb54g v2 - problem with Linksys Wireless Network Monitor Software

I have a card Linksys USB wireless (WUSB54Gv2) that is currently used with an old HP Desktop running Windows XP Service Pack 3.

I also have a Linksys Wireless PCI Adpater (WMP54Gv4.1) that is currently used with an old Dell desktop running Windows XP.

I have a wired and wireless home network... My broadband provider is Verizon FIOS; I use their supplied router because the coaxial cable that provides the internet connection plugs only into their wireless router, not in a modem and a router. I have an encryption key for 128-bit WEP on the side of the network wireless; It is even once managed via the Verizon FIOS router via a web browser (like most routers).

Two other computers I own are a desk custom-made to date with a direct link to the Verizon router and a laptop from Apple. These two computers are NOT having internet connectivity problems.

I've updated to the latest drivers for my USB adapter and the car PCI.

    ---

    Here's my problem:

When I try to connect to the internet using the Wireless Network Monitor software provided by Linksys, computers, I can connect to the "access point", but not internet. This product only when I don't have the key WEP 128 bits in place, when security is disabled.

If I right click on the Wireless Network Monitor icon in the taskbar and select "Use Windows XP Wireless Configuration", enter my network through windows manually information (including the WEP key), I can connect to the internet perfectly.

However, when I restart or stop two PC, the Linksys Wireless Network Monitor reactive software itself, where it automatically attempts to connect to the internet, but fails, after which I right click on the icon of the monitor again and select «Use Windows XP...» "and then I connect to the internet.

Is anyway to disable the Linksys continuously monitor software WITHOUT uninstalling the software or drivers? (I tried this; Windows cannot use or recognize the network adapter).

    ---

I might just re - activate the Setup Wireless Windows XP every time I close / restart, but other users of PCs on my network (my family) are exceptionally illiterate computer/network and would not be able to learn how to do whenever they want to connect. There is very little practice.

If there is a way to solve this situation, please help! If all goes well there are other solutions I am open to suggestions.

I must emphasize that our Apple laptop connects fine when the WEP key is set.

Once more, looking for quick help!

  • Problems with N5050 wireless

Hi I've had problems with a wireless N5050 for six months now. He was inconsistent and little by little do worse even if the signal always displays also available. I have a N5030 who has never had any problem to connect to the same wireless network. I tried to reinstall the drivers. I tried to change the configuration wireless between WEP / WPA etc... I've updated the BIOS. This seemed to have worked briefly, but after about 3 or four connections immediate restarts more than 2/3, he returned to be flaky. Usually when I try to connect it fails and I need to connect a cable directly from the router for access. If I leave it on it will usually manage to connect to some point in the next hour or two. The windows messages/troubleshooting help make no difference and seem to contain no useful leads. Another curiosity is that usually when he can't connect only lists my wireless network and one or two others, but when he is able to connect it lists more neighbors etc... I also tried some changes configuration after completing the other threads, but without improvement. Firewall and AV is McAfee, but it's no good to an immediate connection is restarted in Mode safe mode with networking that seems that reading absolves McAfee to be the problem? The laptop out of the warranty period, is it likely to be a problem with the wireless card or is there other configuration changes, I can try? Thanks Ben

    Ben,

You have changed security WPA, correct?

  • IM problems with my wireless connection, it says my DNS server does not respond, what is this, can help to somone, thanks

IM problems with my wireless connection, it says my DNS server does not respond, what is this, can help to somone, thanks

    Hello

Thanks for posting the question in the Microsoft Community!

You can't use the wireless connection and the message that the DNS server is not responding.

The problem may occur if the computer is unable to connect to the DNS server.

To check, I suggest you follow the steps:

    Method 1: Re-register the DNS

    a. Click Start. Type cmd in the search box and press ENTER.

    b. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
ipconfig/flushdns (there is a space between ipconfig and /)

It will display the message properly emptied the cache of DNS resolution.

    c. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
ipconfig/registerdns (there is a space between ipconfig and /)

    d. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

ipconfig/all (there is a space between ipconfig and /)
The command ipconfig/all command displays for all your network adapters, TCP/IP in Windows settings.

If your IP address of your Local network connection is 0.0.0.0 or 169.x.x.x (where x is a number any), then your computer does not receive an IP address from router.
If this is the case, try this:

    i. enough at the command prompt ipconfig and press ENTER

II. ipconfig / renew in command prompt and press ENTER

The test again by typing ipconfig/all to see what is the address? (If you are on a router, it should start by or 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x 10.x.x.x)

    Method 2:

    a. click Start and then click Control Panel.

    b. go to the networking and sharing Center and then click on change adapter settings.

    c. right-click on connection to the Local network and select Properties.

    d. Select Internet Protocol Version 6, and then click Properties.

    e. choose the DNS server to obtain an address automatically , then press Ok.

    f. Select obtain IP address automatically.

    g. Repeat steps for Internet Protocol version 4 as well.

    Hello

Check with the manufacturer of the router's support and most have forums and excellent documentation online.
You should be able to access the router to set a new SSID and password if necessary.

You must know the SSID (name of the router) and the password.

If you do not know these you can find in the running on the WiFi system now with this
free tool. This is not a crack, it should be run on a local computer that has access (or access)
to your router. Sure, the information will not be there if Windows was reinstalled or information
    has been deleted otherwise.

  • Problems with the IP settings on XP pc wireless network

I have (part time) a wireless network to recently set up. Router is connected to a pc windows 7, and there is a XP machine with a USB adapter as well. The PCs are turned on, and the XP shows a wireless connection with a 'very good' signal. When I try to start IE on XP it will fail to connect. When I then run the diagnostic network connection died at around the point where the diagnosis is trying to reactivate the adapter. The diagnosis of output reports "error renew IP address: semaphore timeout has expired" and "default gateway 0.0.0.0." If I then run ipconfig/all there is absolutely NO output. This happened yesterday, so I manually reset following IP 299357 instructions and the same thing happened again. I did the reset again and rebooted the XP. The router indicates that it has recognized the XP and ipconfig/all on XP shows things different, including

IP 192.168.2.6. subnet mask 255.255.255.0; gateway by default, dns server, and dhcp like 192.168.2.3 Server (the IP address of the router); DHCP and automatic configuration enabled. IP routing and WINS proxy are disabled.

While I was typing the above router lost sight the XP box, although the box XP still reports a 'very good' signal and a connection permanent.

So far, I had this network in place for 10 days, but could not use the connection to the outside of the PC XP on a day, which followed my re - configure the router to its IP address 192.168.2.3 rather than recommended in setting up such 192.168.2.1, because 192.168.2.3 was that the XP box trying to connect as. Two PCs have been turned off during the night and worked fine when started the next morning for the entire day. The next day that XP had a connection for long enough to reach the site where I was looking for updated printer drivers, and then he lost when I started to download the and nothing since. IP information now suggests that I might have little joy for a while, if I still have to reset the IP address of the router to 192.168.2.6 this time, but I don't see why I should continue to do.

Some of the other TCP performer? Troubleshooting IP connectivity:

Ping 127.0.0.1 return OK; ping 192.168.2.3 expires; ping 192.168.2.6 is OK; ping host name does not work (assuming that the host name is just the name of the computer to the pc win 7); Pathping 192.168.2.6 works. (If that this watch is actually the host name and then ping that name does not work either, there is no entry in the ARP cache, do not know the valid IP addresses to test those.)

Suggests that I have problems with the default gateway, and name resolution, but I do not know how to set resolution, unless you change the IP address of the router, which can do the first, but not the second.

    Suggestions welcome.

The fact that things worked fine for a day seems to indicate that the material is OK, and I checked that I have the latest firmware for the router and USB adapter. Security of the router is disabled, as is the firewall on the XP, neither of which is ideal

Technical support of Belikin has decided that the adapter was flakey too and should be replaced. If we call things the customer support, and I heard of them since, did not except a s message that seemed to ask whether or not I had entered with them...

    So what network?

Packed wireless router and got some kit devolo for a network of current carrier online (on the grid) put in place instead. More expensive, Yes, but IT WORKS! 6 weeks later, still no problem to access Internet from a PC.
