SP3 was released two years ago: how is it that you get only to install it now?

What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?  Who were these applications that run in the background when you tried to install SP3?

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on the computer (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

  • Problem installing Windows Vista Service Pack 1

    Greetings,
I've been running Windows Vista for a while now. In general, I have no problem. I tried to install Service Pack 1 with a bit of luck.

My first attempt was to install using Windows Update. When it installs it gives me error 0 x 80070490

My second attempt was to install it as a Sandalone by Windows.com. He also gave me an error
    0 x 80070490

I followed the instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366.
I tried all resolutions and nothing will work.

Both times when I try to install it, the bar fills up all the way and then fails (no reboot or anything else) with in a few minutes. It restarts what only it either just fails or not. I tried using safe mode and normal Mode.

I tried to repair Windows to solve the problem. While the repair done, the computer has restarted and gave me the 'blue screen of death', the only way he could properly load was to load mode without failure. I had to wrap the last know configuration to start normally.

Usually, the tool is available to computers that could benefit from these tools, but you can manually download the same and see if it helps.

Unfortunately with your error code, it is usually a necessary repair install, but the damage may be too much even for a repair installation.

  • Error when you try to install Windows XP Service Pack 3: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.

    Windows XP SP3 problem

Recently, I met a problem with my PC and was forced to use the system recovery. Now I'm back to factory settings and try to install Windows XP Service Pack 3 on my computer. Windows Update won't work for me, that whenever I try to update I get [error number: 0x8024400A]. I think it's because I use Service Pack 2, or that's what I concluded after researching the problem, anyway.

This is not my real concern, however. Because I could not get the update automatically, I tried to download and install the "Windows XP Service Pack 3 Network Installation Package for IT professionals and developers" myself. The first time I did it, I restarted the PC after the installation and was met with "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this. "  I went into safe mode and went to a just system restore point before SP3 was installed, but now I don't know how to install it correctly without encountering this problem after reboot. I'm hardly the easy just stick with SP2 when there are potentially important available updates. How can I get Windows Service Pack 3 is installed on my PC?

    It's certainly interesting!

If the cause of your problem is to have a HP PC with an AMD processor and an original image on your hard drive (and of course it sounds like this is the case), the solution should be to rename the file intelppm.sys and launch the sp37394.exe patch. Once done, the SP3 file that you downloaded from here:
    SHOULD work!
I'm puzzled why there is no intelppm.sys file in your directory C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers.
Since you recently returned to square one with your PC ("return to factory settings"), then you may as well run the patch from this page:
and try the SP3 Setup file again.
But, first, let's be absolutely sure that we are both using the same terminology. Please answer the following questions:
    1. have you safely backed up ALL your data?
    2. what method did you use to ride "back to factory settings? I think that your choices have been a destructive restore (full) and a (partial) non-destructive recovery. The first erases the disk and leave you with a pristine image and NOTHING ELSE (which means that all of your programs and data get deleted). The other (which does not always correctly) is supposed to leave programs and data intact.

  • Cannot install Windows Vista Service Pack 2. The following error message appears: 0X800707d1

    Hello

Three years ago, I bought a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. Never met a problem until I tried to install Windows Vista Service Pack 2. I already followed each step instructions Support of Microsoft issues Service Pack for any result or solution. In these cases, I have downloaded the pack update directly from the wepage of Windows Vista, installed Windows Update Readiness Tool, disabled my antivirus (McAfee) and came up with nothing. I even tried to install this update in Mode safe but also failed to install Service Pack 2.

What is happening all the time, is that I double click on archive downloaded in order to install (having already started my computer in Mode safe mode with networking reportoire and disabled the antivirus as well as its firewall). The Service Pack window opens and I click 'Next' for all the necessary instructions, including 'the computer automatically restarts. When the toolbar installation is completed, the computer automatically goes to restart itself. 3 steps appear as a requirement for the completion of the installation process. All goes well until he reaches "step 3 of 3:100% finished. Do not turn off your computer. After about ten minutes of stall in this step, the following message appears on the screen: "the Service Pack cannot be installed, returning from changes. Do not turn off your computer.

The computer then rolls back all the changes and initiated in the normal state. After the opening, the first window that appears displays the following message: "the specific driver is not valid. "(Details): error: ERROR_BAD_DRIVER (0x800707d1). I proceeded to check and update alone driver of my computer, then try again to install the Windows Vista SP2 and all the operation has been a failure. I was cracking my head trying to solve this particular problem, and each time the same error pops up. I am seriously considering reformatting Windows Vista from manufacturer CD from my Dell, but I don't know if that would help.

If someone could help or advise with everything that I would appreciate it a lot.

    Kind regards

    Rodrigo
