Problems of CQ58-301SA

Hello

About 3 months ago I bought this laptop. I used only twice and now I want to sell it. However, I have a problem.

Whenever I run the HP Wizard and try to get into the recovery environment I wonder whether or not I want to restart but when I choose 'ok', nothing happens, if I click on cancel his instant response. About 2 minutes later the machine restarts, but then it restarts just in the Win8 login screen.

When I do the windows F11 recovery option I get the 'Please Wait' and spinning 8 logo, but then I get the "" you're PC has encountered a problem and needs reboot ' EVERY time! "

I'll try and create some media discs and see if it will get me out but is it usual? Should I just bin this machine and do not bother with HP/Compaq again?

Update for later reference. This problem has been resolved because the BIOS was in fact wrong. Secure boot and Legacy Boot was turned off. These all about switching allowed me to restore from the media disks that I had created.

My laptop does not connect to the band 50Ghz on my router dual-band. I know that my router Netgear dual band diffuse 24 and 50 Ghz, but the laptop only shows the 24 Ghz band depending on availability.

I have a Compaq CQ58 301SA Notebook PC, Windows 8 (64 bit OS).  It has a Ralink RT5390R 802 11bgn network adapter and a Realtek ethernet network adapter. I use the laptop wireless, for example using the Ralink connection and it connects easily to the 24 GHz band, but I want to broadcast TV programs and movies smoothly, for which, I understand that the 50Ghz band is preferable. I pay my ISP (Virgin Media) for a connection to Super-fast broadband but my laptop seems to be limited to the 24 GHz band. Seems to be the case if I work with the adapter Ralink wireless or wired with Realtek ethernet connection.

This problem can be corrected? If so, how? What I have done research on the web, the problem seems to be network adapters. Can they work on the 50Ghz band? Or do I need to download another adapter (if so, which?) Or use an adapter external network I plug into a USB port?

    Driving me crazy...

    Hello:

The Ralink RT5390R 802 11bgn is a map of the only band (2.4 GHz) only.

Whenever you see a labeled bgn wireless card, it is a single band card.

Cards labeled dual band abgn or agn.

The maintenance manual (Chapter 3, page 19) does not indicate that any internal dual band card is supported, so you would probably have to go with an external usb dual wireless adapter.

  • Problem with new Compaq CQ58

I bought a Compaq CQ58-201SA as a surprise gift for my young grandson.

BEFORE GIVING IT to HIM, I want to load some programs, so it's all ready for him to go.  However, when you start the new laptop for this purpose, I get invited to "Choose a color" (for display) and "Name your computer" as part of the initial installation process.  Well, I don't want to do this - it's for my grandson to decide later - but I find it impossible to overtake this screen without entering a name.

How can I pass this screen?  And will there be obstacles to go through before I can start loading the new similar software?

Please help a Grandpa who are struggling!

    Thank you very much, Kalt.

It's a shame I won't be able to get his laptop in the mode "ready to go" before giving him the gift.  Well...

Thanks again for your quick and helpful response.

Hello, I tried to install windows 7, when I got "the Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is a MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows cannot be installed to GTP discs etc"error.

I know that I had to turn off something in the bios but bios of this laptop is not very detailed, I tried to disable the start-up of the legacy and now the laptop will not boot, not even in the bios. When I turn on it all I get is a black screen and the caps lock flashes twice.

I tried the windows key + B key + power for one second while the laptop is turned off, but it did nothing.

I managed to fix it by resetting the bios battery. You can close/delete this thread. Thanks for the help.

  • Realtek ethernet error code driver 35, Compaq CQ58, Windows 8.1

    Hello.

I have a new laptop Compaq CQ58-353EM. It came with preinstalled system (Windows 8). Subsequently, I installed Windows and HP updates.

The problem I have is with the Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller (ethernet). In Device Manager, it is represented by a yellow triangle with an exclamation point. In the State of the device, it is stated: your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact the manufacturer to obtain a firmware or an update of the BIOS of your computer. (Code 35).

Laptop has everything system and hp updates installed.

I have tried the following to resolve the problem:

-2 versions of various bios (F.26 and F.25).

    -several add/remove/reinstall the Realtek drivers

-2 different versions of Realtek drivers: 8.3.730.2012 and 8.20.815.2013 (extract from the Realtek site).

    Ethernet works OK on Ubuntu.

Any suggestions or solutions to this problem?

My compaq cq58 windows 8 simple, is 2 months old. It began to vibrate on start up. and also to use. What could be the cause and how can I do away with it. y at - it software that I could have installed that could possibly be the cause. Also, it became slow. Help, please.

my friends hp series had similar problems and crashed in the process, it no longer works. This thng is new so what could be the problem

Hello pgachire.  I understand that your phone vibrates.

There are really only a part inside the computer that could cause vibrations and which would be the hard drive.  Inside the car there is the platters that spin at a very high rate, the problem must be there.  I suggest you first run a diagnostic on your hard drive to make sure it is in working condition.  This document contains the instructions to test the hard drive.

Also, because this notebook is so new, I recommend you contact HP support directly and let them know about the issue as well.  The number of customers in the United States / Canada is 1-800-474-6836.  If you are in another part of the world, you visit HP's Support around the world to find the coordinates for your region.

I'll keep an eye the diagnostic results.  You have a wonderful day!

  • CQ58-bf9WM Courrpted BIOS Compaq

I tried to fix my Compaq CQ58-bf9WM friends. First, I tried to see if it was under warranty. It is not the case. The warranty expired last month. An inspection further, I found that the hard drive was dead, because it gives the click of death. I tested on another computer just to be sure. I can't access all the data from the hard drive. Fortunately, I have a few Spears that I don't mind my friend with. I advanced and installed a trail of windows 7 on the hard drive and all was fine. I was trying to install all the drivers, when I started to update the BIOS. Now, it's the problem. I did not look closely enough and a windows update reset the computer during execution of the update of the BIOS. After reboot, the BIOS fails to detec of bootable devices even when the widows 7 disc is in the drive. I cannot start anything without getting this message now. I first tried to make a USB UEIF recovery and press WIN + B but the USB flashing only for a few seconds, stops, then caps lock flashes twice with a pause before she again this model. I guess that means corrupt BIOS flashers I know. I tried to extract the .exe file to get the sync .bin file and I put the 0169A.bin that I find in the current folder and I get nothing on reboot.  I tried to rename in 0169.bin and still nothing. I also read that I may need to put the current BIOS.bin and the BIOS.sig in the current folder for the BIOS to start the update. I tried using Phoenix Andy tool to generate the BIOS.bin and the BIOS.sig. Andy's Phoenix tool does not recognize the .bin file which comes from extraction. I can just be provided with the .bin and .sig file I need? I have all of the installation program, that I just cannot generate two files that I need. Is there an easier way? In the old days, I know I could have done a disk with the image on it, but it is not possible now. If there is another way that I'd be happy to try it. Thank you all anwser is useful.

OK I fixed it! The HARD death disc worked somehow :/ I was able to restore the image of the BIOS it and the computer working again. It's weird because the disk boot more and I was unable to extract anything of him as a second HDD, but apparently the HP_TOOLS partition was still in tact.

  • 8, 1-Firmware Windows problem

I have a recently HP Compaq CQ58-201SA with whom I made the stupid mistake of letting windows store to go ahead and install the 8.1 update.

Everything seems very well went with two obvious questions.

    (1) edge LAN 'Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller' ('NO' the wireless) will not work.

While windows has installed the correct drivers for this hardware is unable to entrust resources system (IO, DMA, IRQ address) and it has thus been disabled with a message stating that I need to contact my provider of material for one and put to update the BIOS or Firmware.

Windows provides the following message in the Device Manager window.

"Your computer Firmware includes enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device contact the manufacturer to obtain a firmware or an update of the BIOS of your computer. (Code 35) »

Further investigation reveals the following message is displayed in the window Device Manager for the device in question, on the Details tab on the following two entries.

    Property: Code problem

    Value: 00000023

    : Fortune problem

Value: The resources for this device in conflict with the MCFG table.

    C0000908

    (2) life battary has fallen dramatically. While front with windows 8 I would observe periods of use of about 2.5 to 3.5 hours, now I see use of 0.5 to 1.5. It can be connected with an increase in the activity of the hard drive that I have been unable to locate the cause.

Two days after the installation of update that I made the decision to go back to windows 8. Kind of safe that I started with the restoration rather than reinstall that gives all the indications to complete successfully with one exception, I now see the table following partitioning for the laptop.

(no name) 400 MB Partition Recovery

(no name) 260 MB EFI System Partition

(no name) 350 MB Partition Recovery

(C: ) Start, primary page file, crash dump, 447,16 GB Partition

    (RECOVERY D :))) OEM Partition 17.49 GB

    (RECOVERY D :))) OEM Partition 17.49 GB

A UN extra named recovery partition appeared which I guess is something to do with windows 8.1. Two dashes for D: were present in the previous version of windows.

    My questions are this.

    (1) can I safely delete one of these two recovery partitions (if so which) or would it be better to leave them alone for now?

    (2) a firmware update will materialize in the near future to solve this problem on this machine line/model to make an update to windows 8.1 a viable option?

    (3) there will be a form any of the investigation into the claims of life such battary presented by the meter of the BONE

    (4) HP intend to produce a form a white paper dealing with issues and solutions for windows 8.1 update in the near future?

Thank you for you time and I hope someone can address these issues and provide answers.

The proposed pilots did not work, they produced only the same errors as above.

The solution was to simply wait for the F.29 BIOS updated for this model.

    Hello Fiona-s,

Thanks for posting in the Forum of Support HP!

I'm afraid that the HARD drive has failed - the question is material one and all simply restore/reinstall will not solve it. Yes, you need to replace the HARD disk new or better with the SSD. SSDS are up to 10 times faster than hard drives:

There are more than 100 manufacturers and sellers SSD, but personally, I would choose Samsung, Intel, Toshiba, or OCZ ones.

Microsoft Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 have supported for SSDS. Vista and XP - no

You will need a recovery media to restore the windows once you have installed the new SSD or HARD disk.

You can get possible by contacting HP Support. Here's how:
