Problems scanning with c6150 all in one and Windows 8

I have a new touchsmart from HP running Windows 8. I have an old printer c6150 all in one. I downloaded and installed the latest software and drivers for 64-bit Windows 8.

I feel, copy and fax without problems. But when I try to scan, it freezes. It starts to scan and then just stops responding. I have to use Task Manager to quit the program. I tried the scan doctor and he says that there is a driver problem and it cannot communicate with the printer.

Help, please.

I solved the problem. The USB cable from the printer was not quite long enough to reach the back of my all in one computer, so I bought a USB extension cable. That works fine for normal printing, but apparently only works well for scanning.

Once I connected the printer directly to the USB port on the computer, the scan function worked normally.

    In courses run a Windows 8.1 high-end desktop system with a huge amount of memory and have experienced a tremendous amount of problems printing & scanning with my c410a. I have run the maintenance on this pc daily cleaning Cache, Virus scan, all and then some, the PC is a horse race except for printing and scanning...

    This Scanner/printer works very slowly, more slowly, and then it did on my old XP system for 10 years.

    Sometimes in the middle of the analysis, it stops and freezes by me to close the centre of solutions through the Manager of task or at best its not scan more then 2 or 3 elements software b4 of the scanner hangs. I tried everything in the forums I've seen, unplug the power cord of the c410a, restart, etc... Everything that...

    I ran the "HP Print and Scan Doctor" and sometimes it seems to work, allowing me to sweep slowly a point or two b4 it crashes again. Howeverwhen running the Scan Doctor it especially crashes when it gets to the part "scan Windows wia" of its efforts. These poor printing and scanning capabilities on the PC or faster (a factor) that I've ever used is unacceptable.

    Surely you experts can troubleshoot a very frustrated guy from HP?

    Thank you all for your help, especially the HP Tech Support staff... Although I just bought a laptop $1100.00 at HP with a support package for Smartfriend Tech that I don't try to use it for this problem because this c410 is on my desk which is not an HP.  Just for the record I never got my HP HP mini work said they could fix it by phone, but wanted at least $60.00 $ to do. I never had luck with my HP stuff, but I hope that this will not be the case with my new HP laptop... I had heard that HP had better...

    The problem with my c410a seems to be resolved and I can make the dpi / send changes in 10 seconds approximately. Slow but manageable compared to the 3-30 minutes, he took earlier today.  How I solved it on my own without ANY HP

    Support Tech or HP Forum was to completely delete all HP software from my desktop system and installation of the HP Wizard and to install All THE OF BLOATWARE ITS on my system. I had previously been excluding the HP Photo creations, Bing toolbar and software HP Customer Participation however magically or predictable when I allowed all of HP's Bloatware to be installed it worked the works. With the exception of the Bing toolbar that I got an error for which says it's not compatible with IE 11, it's funny I think.

    Only, I posted this comment on the risk that it may help other people having the same problem as it may seem, with HP, you have a better chance to get help from people who are not HP or only if you pay HP to help. While I would expect HP to delete this message who knows maybe they figure this is the best message in the month.

  • Totally Fed Up with C6300 All in One and lousy customer service!

    I bought this C6380 All In One back to 2009, and since the first day have had problems. I had to search customer support every time I tried to use it and became so frustrated I've avoided simply by using the thing! I've tried for the last 6 weeks get this thing working and after contacting a representitive of the customer service that has talked about what could only be called VERY BROKEN English I was told that my product was "Obsolète" and that given that this model was made is no longer that there nothing they could do for me, except propose me an agreement on a new model. I tried all the solutions proposed in the print and Scan doctor and still can not print anything! My computer shows that it detects my printer but I get... "Failed to communicate with your selected product. I ran the whole wireless upward again and again and have tried everything, except pay HP to tell me what the problem with my printer 5 years 'OBSOLETE '!

    It might be in the best interest to perform a complete uninstall and try to install it again with a clean slate. The software on the CD causes the error is not compatible, this CD was manufactured long before Windows 8. The CD can be discarded when doing anything on this computer.

    To configure the computer for a clean installation follow these steps;

    1. Press the Windows and R key on the keyboard when your desktop
    2. Type %temp% , and then press on ENTRY.
    3. Find the most current 7z folder and open it
    4. Open Util or Utils, CCC
    5. Double-click the Uninstall_L3 , and follow the steps.

    Now that's been following this: Windows: "Device setup has failed to complete" or the "Unknown device" Message appears on the computer during the Installation USB has, certain steps will be duplicates for what you have done in the past but follow exactly. When you are ready to install open the download before or click on my previous link to your printer software.

    Please uninstall and reinstall the software COMPLETE features, follow these steps:

    1 uninstall the software from your computer
    2. download and save the software COMPLETE features (do not install online)

    3. install the FULL feature software "saved".

    Once you have downloaded and installed the software, FULL of features, you will be able to print and scan.

    I recently changed in the course of an older PC using Vista Windows 8.1 a new unit.  I downloaded and installed the latest software and drivers from the HP support site and can print documents and photos.

    However, everything I print seem to have a green tint, pictures are green and when I print in black and white, the color of any text is printed in green and when I print in color, red fate yellow, etc.

    Can anyone suggest what is the problem?

    From your description, it seems that this quality problem of barely since the upgrade to Windows 8.1. Colors appear turned off when you copy to? From my understanding of the issue, I suspect that the following document will be more useful; HP Photosmart C7100 Series all-in-One - color wrong.

    Try the following procedure. It will remove the HP software and software that can cause problems. Please let me know if any of you have problems.

    Of the Original installation CD:

    1. Insert the CD in the drive and then cancel Setup

    2. open my computer and click right then on the CD from the drive and select open

    3 open the Util folder

    4 open the CCC folder

    5. If you have an HP computer, run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a computer not HP, run the L4uninstall.exe

    6. once the uninstall is complete, restart the computer

    7 run the Accessories\ System Tools Disk Cleanup

    8. download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

    9 download drivers and full software features

    10. run the download to reinstall the printer

    If the software has been downloaded and extracted to your system:

    1. type % temp % in the field of race

    Finally able to install the drivers for this printer work under Windows 8.1 (using Vista on my old machine). Not all features work - namely, the duplex function.  I can't force him to print automatic double-sided; I keep getting invited to insert the pages on the other side. Never had to do before.

    Thanks for your efforts to clear up my problem with the printer. Your last suggestion did not work well, as I have lst most of the functionality of the printer. Because of the problem with some software from Asus, I was forced to do a Refresh of system restored my laptop to a point prior to downloading the software of the printer. I downloaded the software, and with a few outside fiddling when I print, scan, etc. that I can usually get some features I used to have.

    Thank you, once again, to try to resolve the problem. I'll probably need to buy a new printer soon to get what I used to have.

I think that the reason is that I have not all in software on this PC (I think that windows just downloaded the drriver to the printer.)     Please try the below mentioned steps...

    1 > open the directory C:\program imaging\bin HP and then search for the following file: hpiscnapp.exe
    2 > right click on it and then select Creat shortcut on the desktop.
    3 > now get on the desktop and double-click the shortcut for hpiscnapp.exe open a window.
    4 > click new scan to start the search.

  • My HP C6150 all-in-One will not print. The printer icon appears, but it shows 0 pending work.

    I have just upgraded to Windows 7.  I installed the HP update software/driver for my HP C6150 all-in-One.  I can scan, but I cannot print.  I can print a test page from the HP solution Center under the Toolbox settings/printers; However, it is not a full test page.  I was also able to print an Extended Self Test diagnostic of the HP solution Center under the settings/printer Toolbox.  When I try to print from anywhere else the printer icon appears, but it shows 0 pending work.  Nothing happens, and the icon of the printer ends by goes.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software/driver with no luck.  I can't find a patch and update HP says there is no new update.  All diagnostic tests, I'm saying that everything works correctly.  Please help me.

    I was able to remove the printer drivers by using a printer driver removal utility.  The printer driver for Windows Vista and Windows 7 (I've upgraded to Windows 7) were apparently contradictory.  I reinstalled the software/driver and everything is good.  Thank you!
