Problems to import pictures from a Sony PMW - EX1 in first CS5.5

Someone gave me some footage shot on his Sony PMW - EX1 to change. He gave me a folder with files inside .mov. When I try to import in first (full version), it says "codec missing or unavailable. I don't know anything about this particular camera and I'm not finding a clear set of guidelines on how to import these images into first. I'm editing on my Mac with Lion.

Thanks for the help!

He gave me a folder with files inside .mov.

There is the problem.  That the camera does not record the .mov files.  As you, he converted files.  It only gives you what you need, i.e. files originals of the card, with the structure of the original file intact.

  • Problems to import pictures from a scanner

Hi, I am writing to report several bugs with the "import" Wizard when importing images directly from a scanner.  So far, I noticed 3 bugs:

    (1) if you disable the option tag images as import you them, there seems to be no way to get the 'Import settings' dialog box, except by another type of import (for example the import of images from a memory stick).  If you have disabled the tags for all types of imports, you'd be stuck - no way to make it back at all.  (Note: this has been reported elsewhere)

    (2) in the import dialog box, deselect "Open Windows Explorer after import" has no effect.  After each import, a Windows Explorer window appears showing me that the directory of the file has been imported to (i.e. "imported photos and videos").  Worse still, this happens even if another this window is already open - so if (for example), I scan 10 pictures, I have 10 windows explore open all showing this same directory (unless I close them I will).

    (3) I have my default scanning profile configured to save scans to. PNG format.  Once I log in, the first time I scan an image it works fine.  However, the time 2 and following, I get an error message "the following error occurred during the import Image.png: the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."  I need to click 'Try Again' to twice before the import goes forward, every time, but after doing that it works. (This only happens when registering as a. JPG; Note that I'm using Win7 x 64 and my scanner is a multifunction Canon MP730 with the latest device drivers installed from Microsoft Update).

I have the same problem using a scanner hp scanjet 3670 in Windows 7. Doesn't seem to be common - in fact it is one of only two posts, I found pertaining to it! The workaround is to set "always combine, skin tags" in the properties of the taskbar, do a right click Explore and "Close all windows" both button.

In the end, I stopped using a direct link to the scanner, as these options has never made any difference despite an OS reinstall :(

Somewhere, I found a recommendation to scan using Windows Fax and Scan Manager:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-GB/Windows7/products/features/Windows-fax-and-scan

Surprisingly simple & uncluttered, unlike a vendor supplied software. I can do several previews and analysis within the program save in the specified directory. The same program allows you to move the image files according to the needs

How to import pictures from my sony digital camera to my computer

    Hi skootto58,

Google may help, or it can take you in many directions different or bad.  I have actually used Bing to get to most of the links posted here - so it is obviously useful, but most of us are trying to be a bit more useful than answering questions (even if lack us critical information).  I have referred you to a more appropriate forum, but since I think I can help with the question, I'll answer anyway.  Next time, unless you think that the problem is caused by malware or MSE (which I doubt is the case here), a question like that should be displayed in the site appropriate in the main forum from here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/hardware?page=1&tab=all&tm=1300700638376.

I could be more specific, if I had the specific brand and model of the digital camera and the version of Windows you are using (for example, the SP2 32-bit Vista Business - Yes that much detail).  I don't know if your model has a USB transfer cable or if you remove the memory card and use a player to access the photos.  As it is, I can provide only generic information.  If it helps, it's fine.  If not, then provide this information and I'll try to find specific instructions.

This article deals with transfers of memory flash cards as well as in Windows 7: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Working-with-digital-pictures.

If using Vista and the problem is that AutoPlay is not enable, see the following set up: http://maximumpcguides.com/windows-vista/change-windows-vista-auto-play-options/.

To be honest, I think the best bet is to go to the Sony support, enter information about your camera, and I think one of the most frequently asked questions for each of them is to know how to transfer pictures to a computer.  Click on that and you should get specific instructions (even though they may vary depending on your Windows operating system, but will probably provide details for the latest versions or they will be so similar that no additional detail is required).  Start here enter your camera model: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/select-system.pl?PRODTYPE=7&NAVDISP=di# and then just look for the instructions and follow them.

If the above does not work, try to download the manual of your camera from here: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/select-system.pl?DIRECTOR=DOCS and there is an excellent chance it will cover transfers to computers in every detail.

If that still doesn't work, try their technical support at: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/support-contacts.pl?mdltype_id=3233637171028026724455847427576110810910389103578487710629503964124158815260451017366768662546770682171881008225288369594924104537922424613105685336519473843437435.  There is a good chance that this may involve a cost if your camera is out of warranty. In any case, chances are that it will cost you are highest with phone average contact with chat contacts and the lowest with contact e-mail (just as the level and speed of charge often decreases the same way).

If you can't get free technical support from Sony and don't want to pay for it (and I can't blame you for it), then try their Forums (like this but for Sony and products free to use) and ask your questions there. Start here: https://forum.sel.sony.com/viewforum.php?f=69&sid=7d46201819078b814c4a7095f972920b and check to see if your question is already answered - it can be.  If this isn't the case, post and wait.  They seem not very active so it may be a while before you get a useful answer.

If any of the works above, answer the questions I asked earlier to identify what we deal with, and I'll try to find something a little more precise.  If you have tried to do so but have a certain type of problem, then please also go into detail about what has happened or not happened when you tried.  The system detects the device or memory card?  Be as specific and detailed as possible because more I know, the better I can help you.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • I have problems to import photos from the Canon EOS 70 d in Lightroom on a macbook pro

When I try to import photos from my Canon EOS70D in Lightroom, first I get "Preview not available for this file" for all files on the camera. If I check a few photos to import Lightroom said then that's important but the pictures never import and eventually I have to cancel the import. • How to import pictures from my Album "Photostream" in my local library

    Hi all

I was wondering how do I import pictures from my 'Photostream Album' in my local library. It seems that when I remove my phone Photostream things it reflects on my Photostream App Photo Album. I'd like to import the photos in Photostream locally then remove them from the photo gallery. I believe that I was able to do it from iPhoto.

My photo stream is to automatically import photos of your devices. No necessary imports.

Wait with removal of the photos from your iPhone Photo Stream, until the importation of your Mac photo library was finished. Do not delete not all the photos from the album My Photo Stream, which do not present in the Moments in the library of Photos from your Mac.

If you ctrl - click a Photo in My Stream Photo album and click on 'Show in the Moment' and photography can be revealed in the times, it has been imported safely. If you cannot reveal it in moments, but not to delete my photo stream.

How can I import photos to date they have been taken from my iPhone 5 for my laptop that has Windows 8? Currently when I import pictures from my phone, they are saved in a folder with the date on which I'm importing, not the date the photo was taken.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand you have questions, import photos from IPhone to the Windows computer. We will certainly help you with the same.

In fact, by default, the pictures and videos are saved in the pictures folder in a subfolder named with the date (for example, 2013-09-10). But, if you want to make changes to the template files will be saved.

In addition, you can try to refer to the article mentioned below as a solution, saving pictures in groups (folders) of SHOOTING DATE instead of the date imported in bulk. Follow the suggestions of Geoffc1 and see if that helps.
