  In the article I posted above, he says mscoree.dll could fail to update during the installation of .NET framework 4, and the Setup program may not be aware of it. Go to your windows system32 or syswow64 folder and check the properties of mscoree.dll - if it's version 2.0 instead of 4.0 then the .NET framework has not been installed correctly.   Hi, I'm nbeerbower. I have trouble with my .NET 4.0 and it generated an error 2908 Installing XNA which is necessary for terrariums.
  The problem is, because for some reason any .NET 4 does not update .NET 2 mscoree.dll.
  Here is a "kit" to help you fix it.

  1. open take Ownership.reg and add registry keys. This allows you to easily replace mscoree.dll
  2. go in Windows/system32 (if you have a x 64 OS also do the SAME procedure in the Windows/SysWOW64 folder)
  3. find mscoree.dll and right click and take Ownership(you can alsocheck properties and see version, if it's 2.00 then this fix will work!)
  4. replace the included mscoree.dll
  5. repeat in SysWOW64 so you have a 64 bit OS

  Hey there fellow. From the outset, I would apologize for bumping this thread if the OP found a satisfactory solution to their particular issue - as well as an apology to resurrect a debate closed if it's already been resolved.

  I came across this problem, try to run a particular game that required the .net framework version 4; a game that I had literally played earlier the same day. I use 32 bit Windows 7, so that the details of my solution may or may not be applicable to your situation. What I did to fix my problem was simply to repair my installations of .net Framework extended and .net Framework 4 Client Profile. After this, I restarted my computer, uninstalled my XNA Framework and reinstalled. After that, the game starts and runs without a problem.

  Not sure if my problem was an exception or if it will help someone else situation, but I thought I'd post my experience just in case it would be of any help. Good luck out there.

  Hi Mick Murphy, I can't install SP2, although it should have been downloaded automatically until I'm having some strange problems with my Vista so I'm trying to verify that this update is installed correctly.  As it has been dated to 2009, I do not remember exactly but think I had a problem and claimed a record that never came.

  I tried a reboot before reinstalling clean but KB948465 gets up to now and shows then I think a mess of Ox80070bc9 error (sorry, but I'm starting to get confused by all of this.)  I then read to use the KB947821 Hotfix but who wants to install both versions at the same time;  Thus abandoned that.

  Thanks for posting on the Forum of Microsoft Answeres.  Given that this only happens with these games the first thing I would say is to check that there is nothing wrong with the media.  Make sure that the disc is clean and have no scratches.  Then, create a folder on your desktop and copy one of the game CD in the folder and run Setup from the folder.  Try them and let us know the results.   See the following steps:

  Follow these steps to save an executable or .exe:

  1. In the taskbar, select Start > run.
  2. In the open field, type ""\NameOfFile.exe ' /regserver, where is the directory where the file is located on your computer andNameOfFile.exe is the name of the file. " For example:

     "C:\Program Files\MyAppLocation\MyApp.exe" / regserver

  3. Press ENTER.

  Most of the executables are not all message boxes when recorded.

  Then, run a SFC/scannow to see if there are any corrupt system files.
  Click Start
  At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

  This will check for any violation of the integrity and repair any damaged operating system files.

  Reboot your system.

• DirectX error when you install the game: "an internal system error has occurred. See DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder to determine the problem.

  I am trying to install a game open source called Rigs of Rods on my dual-boot MacBook Pro with Windows 7 installed via Boot Camp. I get an error that prevents the installation of DirectX. I know that Win 7 includes DirectX 11, but this game does not currently support the DX 11. If I get this error when you try to install DirectX 9. I had a similar problem with another game that I tried installing on another machine Win 7 which is not started in dual mode, and install DirectX 9 worked perfectly.   The reason why you get this error is due to problems with the integrity of the install file. If you downloaded the installation file you want to remove the existing installation file and re-upload. This will often fix this problem by getting you a fresh and non-corrupt installation file.

  When you download, make sure that you have disabled all virus running scanner. This can cause a problem with the installation. So go ahead and reinstall and it should install correctly.

  (a) what is the exact error message that you receive?

  (b) what is the type of your operating system (32-bit \64bit) system?

  I suggest you try the following steps:

  Step 1: Use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility

  Download and then install the Microsoft Windows Cleanup utility. To do this, see the Microsoft Web site:

  Save the file to the desktop. When the download is complete, double-click the file and then follow the directions. When the installation is complete, click Start, point to all programsand then click Windows Installer Cleanup.

  In the list of the products installed , delete all entries that are related to the product you have installed wrong. If there are too many entries, click select all, and then click Remove. When you have deleted all entries, click exit, and then start the installation of the product

  Step 2: Download and install the latest Windows Installer 4.5

  Step 3: The clean boot computer and try to install the game.

  ·         What game is causing the problem?

  ·         Were there recent changes made on the computer before the show?
