• Boot problems after installing Vista SP2 (KB948465)

  I installed SP2 via update.  During the update process there was a power failure.  After that (I don't remember if it's immediately after, or if a few days elapsed) I had problems with the startup.  Initially, seemed the Startup Repair to fix the problem, but not permanently, and the Startup Repair had to be used repeatedly just to start.

  After a few times of what is happening, Startup Repair did not turn, and the PC wouldn't start.  After about 5 attempts using the decision-making power, sometimes choose the Startup Repair, sometimes choose to load windows normally, he did start.
  I immediately did a system restore to return my PC before SP2 was installed.

  After the restoration of versions prior to SP2, Windows Update showed that the SP2 update failed.  It was on 9 November.  As I need my computer, I didn't reinstall SP2 until I had finished this work.

  As I thought that the problem is probably caused by the power outage, on 10 September, I reinstalled SP2.  Windows Update show no SP2 as an available update, then I downloaded and installed the standalone update.

  Between the 10th and today, 14, Windows Update has installed more than updated.

  Today, I was unable to start for the first time since the reinstall SP2 and Startup Repair has allowed me to open a session.
  I tried to uninstall SP2 via update.  The first part of it seemed to work, but when it came to reboot, the PC stopped at the end power to the bottom of the procedure.  I used the power switch to turn the PC back on.  After startup, the PC told me that deletion failed.

  Then I tried the system restore.  Unfortunately, the first available restore point was post - SP2 installation.  I restored it for the point that is as close as I could.  I tried to uninstall SP2 again through Windows Update.  This time, I receive a generic error message immediately (less than a second) - it does not attempt to go through the configuration - restart the procedure.

  I haven't restarted my PC since then.  Most updates have been downloaded automatically, and the PC tells me that a restart is required.  I'm a little worried that I will end up with a completely insensitive PC.

  I use an Acer Aspire X 3200 with Vista home premium pre-installed.  I don't have a Vista disc.

• my computer does not recognize my camera in the finepix viewer. If I reload the original finepix instalation disc I'll lose my photos already uploaded

  Just recently I seem to have lost my finepix Viewer access. I get a message saying that it cannot connect. If I reload the instalation disc I'll lose all my photos that have been previously downloaded? I have no idea how I lost the connection also card xd on the lower task bar symbol has disappeared. Can H ow I restart the program?

  As suggested in the previous post, I suggest you to update the software FinePix Viewer Updater. Later, check to see if the problem persists.

  I have serious problems when you try to install a driver for my scanner - Epson Perfection V700 - on my desk. It was installed earlier, but after a reinstall of XP Pro (SP3), it seems impossible to install it again. Whenever I get an errormessage: "not able to copy the files. Make sure that the target disk is not dead. »

  I tried to install the driver when I had turned off almost all the programs, in "auto-start" - same problem. I run a scan of the disc and also done a defrag - same problem. I have installed many programs on my desktop, so until after I encountered the problem with the driver for the scanner and it was no problem to install the driver on my laptop (also XP Pro).

  I ' v chatted with the support of Epson in England and they have suggested that the problem was in my PC. Because I'm taking care of family archives, I am more eager to get the scanner working again. Any advice/suggestions how to deal with the situation are so much appreciated.

  ·        If the scanner works fine then, why do you want to update the driver?

  You may need to consult the manufacturer of the scanner (Epson) to check if they have released an update of the driver for your scanner. To update the drivers on which are present on the system, follow the steps mentioned in the article below.

  Go to control panel, administrative--> computer management tools, and then disk management.  Take a look in the box that is the Center and the top. List of all partitions and the layout and type.

• Mouse and keyboard not working only not with the ERD in Windows 7 and Windows 7 install disc

  I have a Dell XPS 8700.  I just did an upgrade to an SSD.  The DSS started once with no problems, then it wouldn't start.  I get an error message 1 MBR.

  If I do a F12, I am able to boot from the SSD drive and everything works fine, but if any process requires a reboot it will not work.  IE, windows update that requires a restart does not update because it cannot restart.

  To fix the MBR, use either the repair or install disk to get to the command line.  I have two drives and when I boot with them I get the initial screen of language/keyboard and mouse and keyboard do not work.  I have the keyboard and mouse installed in USB 2.0 ports, their was also in 3.0 ports with the same results.  They work fine until the disc over to install the files, and then they die.  I tried 2 different sets of keyboards and mice with the same results.

  I also tried to use the Dell recovery disk and it did find and supposed to solve a problem when I ran in the beginning.  But I still get the MBR error.  The disc is represented and it did not find any problems and I wanted to reinstall windows back to the factory.

  Suggestions as to how to get my mouse and keyboard work again with the repair and install discs would be greatly appreciated.

  Yes, I have, but that was before the SSD.  I upgraded the video card and added a 1 TB of HARD drive data.

  What is the complete error message you get on the MBR?

  The message reads as follows;

  "MBR 1 error.  Press any key to boot from floppy. »

  There is no floppy drive installed and I even tried to start with only the connected SSD.

  Are you an error code?

  No error code.

  As for changing the BIOS, I am not satisfied with messing with the BIOS, if this isn't an option.

  After thinking about this problem, I think that Dell has disabled somehow able to use disc repair/install "Windows".  I say this because they have disabled the ability to create a disk to repair Windows out of the Dell system and cannot create a Dell recovery disk.  Also because Dell has changed the MBR it wouldn't do any good to reset the MBR to the default value of Windows and the Dell recovery disk does not give you the ability to recover the MBR manually only.

  I decided that the best option was to do a clean reinstall of the OS, and that's what I did.  Everything works great for now.   It is a PITA, but nothing that I have not done before.

  Your only other option is to go to a computer to work with a Player DVD copy the contents of the disc to a folder and copy this folder on a USB and install from it on the target computer.

  When we installed 8.6 on our 7 machine we had mistakes, too.  I found this link posted by smerc here , to empty the file distributions has worked for us.

• Problems after installing KB978338 on Windows Vista SP2

  I met a problem after installing KB978338. The update installs without error or problem, but the system is extremely inadmissible after the reboot. The "\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop is not accessible" error, and the system is practically unusable.
