  The usual culprit is an anti-virus software - perhaps Avast!, AVG or Avira who has deleted or quarantined needed XP files as the file manager of Windows Session:

  c:\windows\system32\smss.exe

  I guess that the file might have been really infected and quarantined, but that has never been my experience.

  There is a copy of backup on your system. You just need to start somehow and replace it.

  Maybe someday the dialog box 'ask a question' forums XP will ask these questions automatically when a new thread is started so I don't have to ask every time.  It might even be possible to solve a problem in a single response when enough information is provided.

  I recently bought a new AT & T Centro for my wife and was very excited to see the software available for download with her bonus. However, when I try to download, the site asks me to enter the serial number of the phone, but it gives me the message: "* Please enter a valid serial number."

  I'm in one S/N that I can find on both the box and the phone.

  Can you PM me your serial number and I'll make sure it's the correct number and if there is something wrong with it see you get a different serial number to use to download the software.

  Hi NomadBob, another thing you can try is to start the computer in a clean condition and then try to install the update. You said that you have downloaded the entire file. Unplug all unnecessary equipment (external drives etc.) which could interfere with the process of update and update offline.

  2. based on what site you are trying to download and install the game?
  3 are logged as an administrator of the computer?

  Once the installation file downloaded, I would ask you right-click on it and select run as administrator and then check.
