ProBook 4530: Problem installing Ubuntu 14.04 Destkop on hp probook 4530 s

Currently I am running windows 8.1(64x) on my pc and I want to install ubuntu along side with windows, but I'm having a problem of Ubuntu startup process. I write Ubuntu 14.04.2 on my USB when I try to boot my system through a black screen appears nothing will happen, even if I correctly write Ubunt 14.04.2 on my flash, but what is the problem in the USB key boot process I don't know someone can help me on this issue

You need to know if your laptop starts in legacy mode or UEFI mode now, and then your best bet is to start Ubuntu in the same mode. If the original system is Windows 8 or 8.1 then it is most certainly the UEFI. Otherwise you never changed, and it's almost certainly legacy.

If you want to be sure: type x and select disk management. In the window that appears, it should be a field with all partitions arranged side by side. On my UEFI system, there are a 100 MB partition which says "Healthy (EFI System Partition)" when the mouse pointer is above it.

With the RUFUS (http://rufus.akeo.ie/) utility, you can choose if the USB key must start in UEFI - or legacy mode.

  • Satellite L300D-12U - two problems after installing Ubuntu Linux

    Hello

    I installed Ubuntu 8.10 on my brand-new u. Satellite L300D-12
So far, everything works fine, but there are two things bother me.

    1. I have problem with suspends to RAM. It does not work. If I use the option to boot, the screen goes black but the laptop is still running (you can hear it).
In addition, nothing happens when I press the power button to exit the sleep option.
I completely close the laptop and restart to be back in Ubuntu.
Maybe someone has some ideas how I can fix the problem?

    My/etc/default/acpi-support have these entries:

    # Comment the following line to disable the ACPI suspend to RAM
    ACPI_SLEEP = true

    # Comment the following line to disable the suspension on disc
    ACPI_HIBERNATE = true

    # Change the following of 'sleep' to use ACPI S1 sleep, rather than S3.
    # This will save less energy, but can run on machines more
    # ACPI_SLEEP_MODE = mem
    ACPI_SLEEP_MODE = standby

    2 battery life
My current maximum battery life is 01:10 hours. On windows, it's 2 hours >. Maybe someone has some ideas of configuration to increase the time of battery under Ubuntu?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello manual

I'm really skeptical about Linux here support. I heard that Toshiba will start with Linux support, but of course, it is not started yet.

If nobody here can offer help I recommend you discuss this on some Linux forum. You have more chance of getting help here.

  • Failed to install Ubuntu on L650D - 10 H - ACPI / Bios problem

    Hello

It is not possible to install Ubuntu newer than 9.10 to Toshiba laptop, L650D - 10H.

This is where the Live CD stuck (you get not even the menu)

    http://www.casimages.com/img.php?i=100809073739544531.jpg

I made ist with the spare DVD menu, disabled ACPI by pressing F6, but then, if you choose to install the Black Guard screen.

    Summary:

9.04 64 bit without any problem to install, but wireless lan doesn't work, but you can fix it.
Dist upgrade to 9.10 no problem
installation of Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit does not work, even with 10.10

ACPI or disable is not serious.

I read in several forum that it is a problem of ACPI. For most notebook, toshiba has provided an update of the BIOS, then there was no problem.

Unfortunately there is no update of the BIOS so far for the L650D - 10H.

    Any other idea?

    Thank you in advance.

  • Install Ubuntu with Windows 10 problems.

    Hello

I had problems trying to install Ubuntu with Windows 10 (and Linux Mint also has problems). When I try to mount my hard drive (with 10 Windows on it), it says that Windows is put into hibernation. I want to install Ubuntu with Windows and not to clean install. Ubuntu detects my external hard drive and said: «There are currently no operating system installed...» ', but it does not detect my hard drive with Windows 10 on it.

    Thanks for any help,

    DaComputer Guy

Sometimes, when the quick start is activated, it can cause Linux to correctly identify the Windows partition as being in the State of hibernation. Try to disable the quick start and see if it solves the problem:

    1. open the Control Paneland turn the mode icons

    2. in the list, go to Power Options

    3. in the left pane, click choose the power buttons what

    4. scroll down and uncheck the Quick start

  • Problem installing vmware in Ubuntu 11.10 tools

I've upgraded from vmware workstation 7 to 8 on a windows 7 pro workstation. I've added to my VM - 11.10 Ubuntu guest. Now I have a problem installing vmware tools.  That's what I did:

((1) installed Ubuntu 11.10 CD in the drive, 2) open vmware and Tools CD added to office.  (3) connect you open terminal window.and.  Since I'm new to Linux, I'm stuck on how to set a password.  I type sudo passwd root, and I can't type anything in the window.

Ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

    You have two questions unrealated

    (1) with respect to the OS - Ubuntu 11.10 - these shoud guest invited on ubuntuforums.org Creafe a connection there and ask in the beginner's forum.

Tip - You don't really have need a password for root in Ubuntu.  Use you sudo to run root permisssions wherer programs are needed.  He said on top of each terminal.

    (2) you have any questions on how to install VMware Tools in a Linux (Ubuntu 11.10) Guest.  You most certainly need assistance with this.  In the toolbar of the program, you will see a tab called "Help".  It only contained other information you are looking for.

See the sections on VMware Tools.   They are really useful!

Tip: You do not use the OS installation disc that you used to create the virtual machine. Look closely under the VM tab at the top. There will be an option in the drop-down list that says "The Install Vmware Tools" you need to select this option.  The insatll will be mounted as if by magic in SLE directory/Media in the comments.  Copy the tarred on this cdrom in / tmp.  Then naviagate (carefully) in / tmp and unpack the file you copied.  Carefully change (look at you spelling - do what I say - not as I do in this post!) to the directoyrf that was created.  Exceute as su (i.e. root - like in the 1 trick.)  the .pl program wiil be contain breast.  Technically, this is called a "script" don't forget to put a. / before the script name or the bad dthing don't know he lives there.  He will ask youj on many issues.  Answer Yes to all these thatg you can.  Most likely, he will say he does not find the gcc compiler (gcc to learn more about the new program of thisbrfand the man.  He complains of missing headers.  Exit the script (Ctrl + c).  Run a progarlm (as root!) called apt - get.  Type the command apt - get install build-esseential.  Thatt is going to install the compiler you need!   Yes still needs to install the header ogical file well! Phew!  The best way I found to do this is to install a nifty program called synaptic. Use apt - get install synaptic.  I think that Ubuntu even comes with a somewahat more easy to program called apt - get it will tell you and have fun there no Super Powers mean if you type an incorrect order!   I digress from the subject.   So, you can use use "sudo aptitude install synaptic l.  Now issue the command uname - r.  He sleeps on the same kernel you use since I use Ubuntu 11.10 asI type while I'm about to uplgrade to the very scary Ubuntu 12.04.  You don't want to do it yourself.

    3.0.0 - 12-Generic

Now launch Synaptic.  There will be a message the first time on the program expalining.  If you want to see it every time to understand this program if y0ou forget don't check the box saying you don't wang to see this every time.  BTW youi will be asked for your root passworfd to run the program.  Hope you rfemembered it!

In any case in the search box copy, then paste the result above (one that ends with - generic - but anything copylthe) there will be l be a long list of items, but choose the one that has the string above and the word "headers".  Insatll who.  After all it can return to the order which took end. / pl and run it once more.  Answere questions.  It will end with the encouraging words (you can take advantage of the VMware Tools.  Then, run the command - vmware-toolbox as it says.

  • Satellite L505D-S5986 - trouble installing Ubuntu using live CD/USB

Hello everyone I need to all emergency assistance and the ubuntu community.

I am a passionate user of Ubuntu, and I used it for a year. My old laptop got crashed when I flashed the bios.
Now, I bought a laptop TOSHIBA L505d-S5986 which has amd athlon 2 dual core M300 processor and an ATI Radon 4100 video card.

I had enormous difficulties to install ubuntu when I put cd/usb live that it took a long time to start and when he got this gel inside the BONE.
Then I tried fedora but even this work force well he got in the same problem freeze!

I searched and found that its due to the acpi:lnxvideo error:' exit unexpectedly with a status of 0 x 0009.
This has also given in this thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1301101

Then I put the acpi = off in the grub boot menu and then added to the gconf and now ubuntu works. But the system monitor shows a processor to use (again due to disabling acpi I guess) and of course when I remove her dosent Ubuntu power dim screen and dosent show no sign of the battery.

All the guys and linux developers please post a solution for this equipment module.

    Kind regards

I had a battery problem. Which is fixed now.

Installation is complete on the Lenovo G770 with InsydeH2O Bios. He managed.
Here are the steps I followed:
The disk partition table is TPG. I created a partition fat32 in first position and set the boot flag (partition type is EFI, checked with gdisk ef00 type). Then an ext4 /, year ext4/Home and a sectoral approach.
The installer told me that with this partition in use table format, I should normally have a separate partition for the boot loader code, also not yet would it be possible to install the boot loader for a partition. I ignored that did not create an and we went to the installation process.
He filled out. I then installed grub-efi-amd64 and everything works perfectly on this laptop, the system now works fine.

  • I use hp g32, I can't able to install ubuntu 11.10 on my laptop,

    Hello

    I use G32 with windows7

I tried to install ubuntu 11.10 in my book, it shows an error like "'windows Backend' object has no attribute 'iso_path'" what is the problem and what can I do?

You try to install Ubuntu via WUBI?

It seems that you are not alone in this problem, but seems to happen to various other users as well. It would probably be a bug or a bad disc/download Ubuntu. Many users have tried fixing this error by disconnected from the internet and try to install Ubuntu.

I suggest you to send your query on the ubuntu forums that would be the best place to get your landline number.

  • How to install Ubuntu for PowerEdge 1850 - updated: installed, but does not start?

I recently got a used PowerEdge 1850 (BIOS A04 version) without OS, with plans to install Ubuntu Server. I read that you can boot from a flash drive USB for it, so I used a tool to make a 8 GB USB 2.0 flash drive bootable for installing the operating system. I put USB drive on auto emulation and the USB controller on with BIOS support. In the order of start, emulated floppy USB drive has been updated with the top priority. The flash player has been connected to the USB port right front, with a keyboard at the front left, if it matters.

When I turn it on with this set all when it reaches the last line ("press CTRL-E to enter the BMC configuration within 5 seconds," without any player flash it just says only: "boot device available" at this stage "), it does nothing. Just on a blank line, no error or anything. I know that it did not freeze because underscore flashing. By pressing a button any will result in a single beep, same F2 to enter the BIOS setup.

There are 73 GB HARD drive at location 0 (left), nothing in the Slot 1 (right) and 4 GB of RAM. No material inside has changed.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong? If I just have something wrong set, can you give me instructions step by step from scratch (that is, a blank flash drive/CD and ISO downloaded), or at least point me in the right direction to correctly set up the flash player if it is the problem?

EDIT: All right. Ignore my next post in the thread. I'll post if no new complication.

    Roadsguy
It still hangs on the last line in the commissioning after the line 'Press CTRL-E to installation of BMC', with the blinking underscore, so I know that it is not frozen.

It is bootable media and try to boot from it. It seems that the bootstrapper does not initialize correctly. I would suggest reformatting and reinstallation of the operating system again. The question is not hardware related. You can try another version of Ubuntu.

    Thank you

I downloaded Ubuntu 14.10 (32-bit edition) and I want to install it without uninstalling my Windows 7. The installation gave me 2 options, it is to install Ubuntu with Windows 7, is second to install in a specific partition. My question is can I install Ubuntu in the 3rd partition of my hard drive without affecting Windows 7 that is installed in the first partition? Thank you.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

Ubuntu can be installed after Windows has already been installed. You can see the article below.

    https://help.Ubuntu.com/community/WindowsDualBoot

Alternatively, you can use "Wubi" install Ubuntu in Windows 7.

    You can check: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wubi

In addition, you can install Ubuntu on a separate partition. However, if you want to learn more about the process, I would ask contact you support Ubuntu.
