Yes, you can, but you need to back up and do a custom installation. There is no place on the way to upgrade from Windows Vista 32 bit to 64 bit.
Installation and relocation of Windows Vista
Back up your files - Microsoft Corporation: software, Smartphones...Boot from the Windows Vista DVD
Click Install now
Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows Vista click Next.
You will receive the following warning:
The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.
(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK
The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.
Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.
You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

Satellite U300 PSU30E - 32 bit WIn XP does not see 4 GB of RAM
Hello
I have two qustions about my U300.
1. I have a 32-bit, XP Pro sp3 and 4 GB of ram. _PAE is enabeld_, Bios sees the 4gig to start, howerver XP does not work!
What I read I should at least see 3.1 or 3.3 GB of ram, but no, I self 2.99.
OK, so the video has borrowed the 256MB ram, but still why I can't get more ram memory?2. How do the video use not 256 MB but 358 MB (no option in the bios to do)
I do not wish to use XP64 and Vista therefore suggests that it
Thank you for the support
ViktorHello
The operating system 32-bit Win no matter if it s Vista or XP supports max 3.2 GB RAM
The operating system can show a smaller RAM value, because the small part of RAM would be assigned to the memory of the graphics card.
I think that your laptop was equipped with GPU Intel GM965.It supports memory system shared and own (128 MB) of video memory.
The shared system memory depends on main memory.
Using 1 GB main memory = 123 MB Shared System Memory (GPU)
To the help of 2 GB memory main = 230 MB Shared System Memory (GPU)Then system memory = total available graphics memory shared + video memory system
You have total 358MB memory (230 MB + 128 MB) graphic card3.2 GB 358 MB = 2.9 GB ;)
See you soon

D3D is disabled on my system for 32-bit programs and 64-bit, it works perfectly
D3D is disabled on my system for 32-bit programs, but 64-bit, it works perfectly. I previously had this problem but may not know what I did to cause this.
The only thing I found which seems to lack it is installing the dirext x Diag information are below.I reinstalled the drivers, put my graphics performance up and tried to reinstall direct x but it tells me its already there. Theres no option or a button to activate the d3d in dxdiag and I am full of ideas. I have a nice pile of games to work through, but none works. Any help is appreciated.

J4540 installation for 64-bit installations disc installs with success - although the works and so don't scan using the program "Paint" of Windows. But the HP "HP Solutions Center 's" interface software that allows you to use any print-fax-scan function does not work - it does not install correctly. This means that I can't scan multi page documents in 1 doc pdf.
I had a similar problem to install this printer on my Win 8 Pavilion Desktop and am good help on the forum.

Windows 7 Pro 64-bit Service Pack 1
I've installed, uninstalled and reinstalled several times from the disk.
I downloaded the windows updates
The Ofc 2007 SP3, I downloaded and installed, in case that this would contribute to
I downloaded the full feature software and driver for this model and tried to install from it.
With the full functionality & pilots came "Error of Installation HP - Windows 7.hta" and I followed him with attention for the installation of USB, including disabling my Avast antivirus for one hour on each attempt, disabling a normal startup in msconfig
After all this sw "HP Solutions Center 's" told me that the installation did not finish, so I uninstalled and retried twice, once the uninstall with the uninstall feature in the exe ' full functionality so & Driver "and once with the program control panel uninstall Uninstall System. Same result after these attempts "not completely installed.
Can't believe a HP product on a HP product installation can be this darn difficult.
Do you have any help? NB.
First of all, thank you again for further upward. I really appreciate your time and efforts. I successfully completed earlier and tested the installation. Here is what happened.
I'm supposed to go again very carefully through your instructions and began uninstalling. But as I went through this process, I came across problems of functionality - I mean, I could not get either the Windows uninstall or download of sw/driver uninstall function - nothing would happen.
Then I found (surprisingly) I own the original supplied with the notebook disks (I got this for my son as he was headed for duty in Afghanistan in early 2011). I therefore decided to back up and reinstall Windows & apps. But the DVD player would not read discs or discs, although Bishop device says it works correctly. My son used a lot of music and movies and had trouble with it in Af. So the original disks were not do me no good. I tried to create a repair on my GoFlex drive disc, but it does not work I think because the file system is not NTSC (initials right?), but is the Master Boot Record (sounds like the FAT).
I discovered THE system BIOS before startup offered a recovery option - I used that and today tried to install it on the system and voila!
I really didn't want to go this route to recovery because I wanted to overcome obstacles and make it work as it should. Stubborn. But retirement is only 7-8 years of absence and I had not a lot of time - ha!
Now, I need to get a replacement DVD + RW and this laptop should be back to the original form, and the battery takes no charge so I guess it expired. Since he does not need it, I have a pc to use so my wife can play Solitaire on the Pavilion.
Awesome support both by you and others in the forum. I am very grateful that you are here and it helped me to overcome the problems. I learned a little, installs windows and this laptop. At first I had no idea if I did something wrong, had the wrong approach, or what.
Thanks again - I cannot exactly call your work a solution, but I was at the point where the complete reinstallation was the thing to do.

Run the 32-bit program on 64 bit OS
Is it possible to run a program in Windows XP 32-bit on a 64-bit computer laptop with Win 7 Pro. The laptop currently available virtual PC / XP mode.
The vast majority of software is 32 bit and should work on 64-bit Windows, but it really comes down
on the software in question and things like if they developed a patch or a newer version
for Win7 64 bit, when necessary, or if the program uses a special driver that was specific XP.
And some systems of protection against copying of the time XP do not recognize 64-bit Windows, so this can sometimes cause problems.
Release date near the date of the release of Vista should have the sides however very good compatibility.
I have not used XP MODE, and even though I know that it doesn't work with games (no d3d), I can only
guess it is also 64-bit (when using Win7 64 bit), so if 32 vs 64-bit is a problem with a particular program
then XP MODE would not help.
BTW - most programs that have an executable option 64-bit also have a 32-bit option and very little
run only on 64-bit.
If there is a forum for the program on the website of the developers, it would be the best place to find
It is compatible with Windows 64-bit and if there is resolve work around the problems.

Constant unhandled exceptions of msvcrt.dll on a 64-bit Win 7 Ultimate
Yesterday morning I was see dozens of these errors pop up on my Win 7 64 bit box very new.
They block any program I am trying to run (Google Chrome, Google Desktop, anything with a toolbar Google and - frustrating - the features to install or remove anything.) I thought maybe would it virus/spyware but my scans (with eset) have turned up nothing. Try to install SpyBot causing the error again, so I was not able to run it. :(
I think it's a virus, but I read something somewhere tha seemed to suggest that it could just be a jerk Installer crushing a bad version of msvcrt.dll... But how to find the right version of msvcrt.dll to put back in place?

No idea how I could fix this?
Install 7-zip [1], run the tool and open the file install.wim from the DVD and extract the PeerDist.dll on the HARD drive. Now, the value of your account as the owner of the file and you give all the permissions. Now replace the old file broken with the DLL from the DVD.

No, there is no way to do it. You can move the data to the new computer
but you can't do anything with the installed Windows 32-bit or the
installed program. Everything must be installed from scratch.Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP

Yes, it should be under devices and printers. IF you have other utilities (not) installed, you will get two different points.

How can I do a manual installation of ACR 7.4 64-bit Win 7 PES 11?
I found detailed instructions on this forum which I think are for 32-bit Windows 7, but I hope to install 64-bit is different since I followed the and always without success. I know that the 8.1 is supposed to be able to be installed manually and it would be okay, too but I just need to go from 7.1 to 7.4 and the update function is grayed out. I started with a free trial on this machine so maybe that has something to do with it? He is registered and activated. Tried to uninstall/reinstall and still no luck (does not check the "disable" but then maybe I should try again and choose this option?
Is not afraid to try a manual installation, if it is in fact different.
This is the thread that I follow - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1266134
I also have the PES 11 on a Mac platform and could be updated smoothly... cannot get win 7 to work for the life of me.
Thanks for the replies.

Recording stops when the alt - tab to another program (win7 64 bit)
I've recently updated to Audition 3.0 so I could use Audition on my new Win7 64-bit configuration.
Everything seems to work quite well except...
When registering, if I leave the hearing program (for example, to use my browser while making a recording) recording immediately stops.
Anyone encountered this?
Is there a setting some part that I forgot?
I'm sure that's not the way it should work - Win XP & hearing 1.1 worked well while multitasking.
Appreciated by the suggestion. Thanks in advance.
