  • Pavilion dv6700: white screen permanently after connecting to the projector (stuck in "projector only" mode)

    Hello community,

    Here is what happened:

I have connected my laptop to a TV via HDMI and set the display option to show the "projector only" in the Panel.

The fn functions do not work and have never been, probably because I, at some point, off the never installed or quick launch buttons driver after the transition from Vista to Win7.

With the TV still plugged, I closed the laptop.

Now, when my device is restarted, the screen remains black.

Connect to the same or other TV sets via HDMI won't show 'no signal' on the TV.

Connection to an external display or projector via VGA will show either no signal.

So I presume this must be the source parameter, which would need to be changed back, but I have no idea how to do that blindly. Anyone got any ideas how I could solve this problem?

I thank very you much in advance!

Fixed drawing of one of the two RAM Modules. Just like that.

Hope this can help others to solve the problem.

    What has not helped:

    • Permutation of these two RAM modules and then start.
    • Reset the BIOS by pressing the keys Windows + B while pressing the power button.
    • From the BIOS menu by (several times) by pressing f8 or f10
    • Pressing on the power while pressing fn + f4 button
    • Let start normally and then by pressing Windows key + P
    • Choose different start-up options blindly with the arrow keys and enter

If I turn on monitor 2 what I get is an image of the desktop background but no program. What parameters are likely to have been messed up?

If so, clear the check box and use the FN + F5 key combination to switch to projector only.

This would help the designers of Microsoft Answers if you could explain why you chose to post a technical question on the Feedback forum and how you access this forum.

I moved your post to the forum "photo and video" for WIndows, although 'Desktop and personalization' or 'hardware and drivers' would have probably been adequate as well.  Please return to your message, click on modify just below, change the Version of WIndows, menu dropdown to indicate your version of Windows, then click on submit.

  • How to set the display to the projector

    original title: the projector display

I have connected a projector Acer to a Medion laptop xp and cannot display the screen saver. After trying to select 1 and 2 in the properties he still doesn't. The projector show a pre recorded DVD but not the photographs onto a CD. Any suggestions?

    Hello

    ·         You are able to view photos from CD to computer?

To indicate to the laptop you want to see the image of the projector, simply push the right buttons. The buttons are the right ones for you depends on your laptop. In general, it is a combination of the FN key and the function (F1-F12) keys on your keyboard. The appropriate function key is usually labeled with the letters "LCD/CRT" or a picture of a monitor and a laptop. (Refer to the documentation of your laptop for the specific key combination of your laptop.) The keystrokes needed are: first, press and hold down the FN key, then press the appropriate function key and then release both. Beware! This can make your laptop screen go black. Once again, don't panic! You can get your laptop screen by pressing these keys again. Most laptops have three possible combinations of display: laptop screen, laptop screen and projector and projector only. Scroll you by pressing the toggle monitor keys until you get to the desired display combination.

So remember, when you set for your presentation, put the projector first, and then use the toggle screen keystrokes. These two steps you will have a long way to maintaining your projector and the laptop so speaking the conduct of your presentations. If you still have problems, see the manual of the projector.

  • NVIDIA HDMI output "Is not connected" - Audio does not have TV

I have a HP HDX X18T-1200 CTO Premium Notebook PC.

    I am running Windows 7 64-bit, Service Pack 1.

Some time previously, the audio has stopped working when you plug an HDMI cable to my tv (perhaps after updating a driver?). It always occurs on the laptop itself.

Under the control panel: sound, the output device HDMI NVIDIA said that it is "not connected" and is grayed out so I can't set as default device. I can see the video output to the TV, but the audio is not go with her, even when you set the video mode for projector only.

I tried to uninstall the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC and drivers NVIDIA High Definition Audio from the Device Manager, but that did not help. The IDT driver is version 6.10.6276.0, and the Nvidia is 1.2.24.0. Both are as up-to-date as possible I think.

I work in the COMPUTER industry, so I'm not a total fool when it comes to this sort of thing, but it's me confused. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

    So here's what I discovered...

The link to the Nvidia site provided by maxpower757 also had a link to this page on this topic: No. HDMI audio when connected to a TV by Philips HD graphics card. In case the link stops working at some point, this is what he said:

    • Some Philips HDMI screens may have problems with some older NVIDIA graphics cards that could lead to corruption of the image when the audio over HDMI is turned on. In this case, the NVIDIA driver attempts to identify these views and default settings to disable the audio if necessary. To re-enable audio (note that this could cause corruption of the image), go to the NVIDIA Control Panel, and then select the page resolution of changes in the View Menu. Select your HDMI display in step 1, and then change the connector in step 2 of "HDMI-HDTV (compatible Audio)" and select apply.

But when I went looking this "connector" setting, it was not found. I upgraded my drivers to the latest versions, and it was there! When I put it to Audio-enabled, it pops up a warning, and after clicking on Yes, I could open the peripheral reading window and set the HDMI as the default device.

Hooray! It works again! Here is a screenshot of the setting you would look to (notice the connector set in the middle of the window).

  • Turning the monitor off

    Hello

I use Lenovo U400 and I wonder if it is possible to turn off the monitor, only,

    Thank you.

    Hi CalciumKid,

Lenovo U400 is not a hotkey to turn off the LCD, but as an alternative:

If you are running Windows 7, press the F10 key and choose projector only. This will turn off the internal LCD monitor and switch to an external monitor (if you have not, it will simply turn the monitor off). To switch back, simply press the Enter key.

If you are under Windows 8, press the F10 key and choose the second screen only. To switch back, simply press the Enter key.

    I hope this helps.

  • How to change HDMI output resolution in Windows 7?

This is a new laptop Sony VAIO Y Series with Windows 7 Professional and a Samsung plasma TV.  Yesterday I connected my laptop and the TV with an HDMI-HDMI cable.  After that I went in Fn + F7 and selected "Projector" only, my desktop screen was successfully mirrored on my TV.   However, after I disconnected and then reconnected the cable, a dialog box appeared and asked me if I wanted to change my resolution of HDMI output.  While I felt fairly certain that my TV supports 720 or 768 only, I chose 1080 p.  (I realized it was a mistake.)  After doing this, the graphics in a video streaming box on MLB. TV is scrambled and very bad.

So, I think I have to set my resolution of HDMI output for 768 or 720, but I can't determine how to proceed.  I scoured the foundations of knowledge and electronic bulletin boards without result.  I searched through my display settings and resolution.  I have made a restore of the system for the day before my error, also to nothing does not.

When I right-click on the desktop and select 'Screen Resolution', then select the second (my TV) screen, the resolution drop-down list is 'greyed out', and I'm not able to change the setting, which reflects the 1366 x 768.

Can someone please?  Thanks in advance for your time.

    Josh

    Hello, Ithilias

Plug the HDMI and instead choose projector only, choose Extend.

Now, return to the screen resolution of the screen and you should be able to change the resolution of the display of the second.

  • An inexpensive DLP to your Xoom

I discovered a great deal today on (by Texas Instruments) brightboxe DLP projectors that were dropped on the target. They normally retail for about $200, but they are currently available (up to) for $90. So I picked up one today to try out it with my Xoom and I was surprised of the quality it produces. This inexpensive and portable DLP projector only includes VGA and composite, but I had already picked up a HDMI adapter / VGA on eBay for $25 to use the Xoom with my conference room projectors (which all have VGA adapters as well).

Don't get me wrong, this projector is not designed to produce HD-quality output to compete with the $1,500 projectors + out there, but it does not output quality (up to 720 P) which rivals that of the other Spotlight $ 500 - $700 for only $90 and the image is very sharp and colorful. Like a laptop to show presentations projector, he shares the Xoom in a group or game videos (or even streaming content) on the road to my Xoom environment, this is the ticket. I also played a movie to a DVD player and hung our family Wii, both looked as good as they do on my LCD TV. This DLP projector uses LED R/G/B to the exit without no bulbs to replace, and a very long service life of the project.

Here is the configuration between the Xoom and DLP projector:

If you are looking for reasonable and inexpensive to use with your Xoom DLP projection options, it's an incredibly good deal. Don't forget that you still need a VGA to HDMI converter / and then you're ready to go! The total cost for me was $ 115 for a DLP player and converter can I use with my Xoom, reader DVD, Wii, or other video source - awesome!

If you want to see if a target has this point keeps in stock (and if so, on what Island), just use this link and enter your zip code:

If you have any other questions on this winning combination and my experiences with it up to now, please let me know.

    -Doc

    Jerry,

I can try to put in place tomorrow for you, but the photos generally don't do him justice. You can find several videos of this projector DLP on YouTube and they seem OK, but when you get home and hang it up, the colors are much more dynamic and stronger than what is recorded on YouTube. Someone else had written that the unit does not have focus, but it does and it produces a sharp result for the cost.

  • HP G42-415DX: in a Setup dual monitor, perhaps armored secondary monitor white screen?

I have a Setup dual monitor, where the laptop is tied to a 2nd monitor (TV) via HDMI. I mainly use the 2nd monitor. Can I empty the 1st monitor (laptop screen) screen, yet still use the 2nd monitor with lid open to access the keyboard?

(I noticed with parameters changed in the Panel of Win7, I can close the lid without cutting [sleep, Hibernate or shutdown] computer and had to lower the monitor display 2nd to adapt to the screen.) But to use the keyboard, open the lid of the portable computer, which involved the 1st screen)

    Thank you

    Hi Kalad,

I think the same as you do sometimes, especially when I watch a movie and you want that it will display on the bigger screen and the simultaneouly have the laptop screen is off.

As you need to use the keyboard of the laptop and want the second poster only, which suggests to select the "Projector" only option in the pop-up menu by pressing the Fn + F4 key.

& to come back again having two screens or single screen press Fn Key & F4 on your keyboard and select "Extend" or 'Unplug the projector' options respectively.

I am an employee of HP.

  • HP Envy 17 built-in screen went black after system updates.

    Hello!

Earlier today, after updates monthly to Win 7 Home Prem (64 bit, Engl.)  I had the problem with the display of colors with my HP Envy 17. It turns out that caused Windows Silverlight (?) to indicate only a few 256 colors (?). So I plugged another screen (Samsung 22 inch SyncMaster) as external monitor to the computer.  This worked OK. So, I removed the updates of windows outside one by one, starting system after each file. After the removal of Silverlight, the built-in screen returned to original resolution and colors (1910 * 1080, 60 Hz, 32-bit). Then I reinstalled all the other updates and started the system. So far, I was happy. The original problem has been resolved.

Then, I checked the status of HP Support Assistant. He suggested the update of the program itself and some 5 other updates. I've updated the HP Support Assistant first.  That went well, I guess. After the system start, I checked the other updates the new version of HP Support Assistant suggested. This includes for example. update the BIOS and 4 other updates. After download and installation of these, system startup has produced, triggered by the update. OK to start the system, and Windows started a little. But then the screen integrated (HP laptop) do not continue to see the picture more, external only display gave the image. I used the double at this stage display mode. -Only when you start Windows in safe mode, the screen seems to work, but with a limited resolution and properties.

I tried to change display modes (dual Extended display, disconnect, projector only), but the screen does not appear. Or, if we turn off the lights (black room), one can imagine to be able to see a light screen Veery also (built-in display) - so some photos also forms in this case (the built-in screen of HP Envy 17). Remove the external display and the system startup without it does not help.

Please help me and teach how to bring back the computer screen in life!

    Hello.

Just letting you know that the screen of my HP Envy 17 2050ea now works fine! What helped was a call to the local HP support; Today, I managed to pass through. He suggested to delete the display driver that I did in Safe Mode, as the built-in screen still worked. I've done the following:

    * I started the system using Windows Mode safe mode with networking (press F8 to get there after startup)

    * The I went to the Device Manager (you can use the start search to find)

    * There, I chose the graphics cards. With the right button of your mouse, I have selected to uninstall the display Radeon (TM) driver. In my case it was Radeon (TM) HD 6850 M.

    * After the driver has been uninstalled, I started the system. System booted normally (complete Windows).

    * Now the display settings were a little strange, but the screen has worked

    * After a minute or two, automatic update of the display driver has occurred. System infomed me to this topic. Then I rebooted, to allow the driver to use.

    * After reboot my screen was back to normal, as it was before the problem.

Summary: The problem has been resolved through resettlement of the display driver. Fortunately, heavy recovery or reinstallation of the entire system was not necessary.
