Protocol GPS in Toshiba NB100 12 H

Hello!
I have computer Toshiba NB100 12 H. My Manifold GIS program can recognize the version 2 NMEA protocol, but cannot recognize this Toshiba GPS. Someone knows what kind of version with GPS NMEA protocol in my computer.

Thanks, Matjaz

Hello

Maybe I'm wrong, but as far as I know NB100 - 12 H was not equipped with GPS.

The phone supports 3G (HSPA) 3G HSPA 7.2/2.0MBPS DIVERSITY and WLan Atheros 802 .11B/G.

See you soon

  • No sticker with the license number Windows XP for Toshiba NB100

I lost the sticker with the license number Windows XP for Toshiba NB100. I have an invoice.
How can I recover the license number?

Licensed refused to support this topic.

    Hello

You can't get the license number.
First the sticker on the bottom of the unit has been a serial OEM key. This key cannot be used and would not work under Win XP installed system costs.

The point is that Toshiba image which was preinstalled on this laptop has already been activated, which means that this key has been useless.

I assume that you have not created a disk recovery Toshiba (or flash USB stick) in the past? Right?
These records would be reinstall the image of Toshiba containing the active Win XP system.

Well, usually it of possible to order this disc [here | http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx] but I think that would be more because of the age of the laptop.

Solution: you have to buy Win XP with valid serial key.

  • Not ReiserFS are supported on the Toshiba NB100

    Hello world

    I recently had a new Toshiba NB100 (netbook) with Ubuntu installed Remix (hardy, uname - r = 2.6.24 - 19-lpia).

The problem I have is that it does not support reiserfs volume (disk usb in my case) and I couldn't find the way to solve. The only available with the string 'reiserfs' package is 'reiserfsprogs' (already installed).

I realized that resierfs module has not yet built on architecture 'lpia '.

    Is this correct? Any solution?

    Thanks in advance

Can I change hard drive with an SSD in Toshiba NB100?
The hard drive in this model is the same size as SSD 2.5 drive "?

    Hello

As far as I know the laptop supports the disk HARD 2.5 SATA.
I think you could use a SATA SSD drive. Usually some SSDS require the firmware update but this should be provided by the manufacturers of SSD drives.

  • Re: Where is the CMOS battery in Toshiba NB100?

    Hi guys,.

I disassembled my nb100 and have been to look at the motherboard for centuries, trying to find the CMOS battery.
Basically, my netbook is not in the bios, it is just stuck on the Toshiba start screen.
so I thought I would try to remove the cmos battery to see if that could fix the problem.

So if someone could please tell me where I could the cmos battery?

    > Basically my netbook will not go into the bios, it remains just stuck on the home screen Toshiba.
    > so I thought I would try to remove the cmos battery too see if that would solve the problem.

I doubt that this will help you solve this problem
First and foremost the CMOS is soldered to the motherboard (in most cases).
I think there must be a problem with a motherboard if the laptop is unable to pass the POST (power on self test).
Basically, all that might be affected; RAM, etc.

I think you should check the RAM first, if that is not enough, then an ASP should try to reflash the BIOS, otherwise the motherboard needs to be replaced.

  • With Ubuntu - wellcome very slow when screen Toshiba NB100 no wifi access

    Hello
I am a new user of ubuntu on nb100 and I have a problem when there is no wifi connection:

Wellcome Toshiba ubuntu with every choice menu (games, administration, internet...) work very quickly when WiFi is okay and on and if you are in other cases, it works very, very slowly.

    Other cases, it means:
    -ubuntu stop you lan connections,
    - or are you somewhere without wifi connections

If you have already loaded programs that that program working normally, it is only the menu toshiba ubuntu that does not work properly. When you share a program to the Ubuntu menu, sometimes, you have a blank screen instead of work well

I hope someone can help me

    Thank you.

This problem occurs when you use the menu of ubuntu GUI written by toshiba, I think, because if you use ALT - F1, everything goes fast.

    Hello!

It is a known issue on Windows systems. If you n t use the WLAN and connect to the local network and you have active DHCP it will takes a lot of time on start up because the operating system tries to get an IP address from the DHCP server.

Try to assign a static IP address, and the problem should be solved.

    Good bye

  • Starting with Ubuntu Remix on Toshiba NB100 problems

Today, I tried to use the Update Manager to install several updates.

    During installation, the device froze.
Now start only takes me to the start page of Ubuntu with the logo and a progress bar is empty.

If I go to the Terminal, I have the following script
    BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3 - 5 Ubuntu12) shell (ash) integrated
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
    (initramfs)

I have no idea how to proceed. Is there a command that I can use for commissioning successfully or do I need to use the recovery CD?

    I'm a newbie to Linux.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I think that you should just grab the laptop because it's the easiest way to solve this problem starting Ubuntu.
Other workarounds would be too difficult and would take as long as a simple recovery.

Recovery if the NB100. The procedure should t take long.

    Check it out!

    Cheers mate

  • Toshiba NB100 ACPI & WIFI on Debian Squeeze

Hi, it is perhaps a good place to ask.

One morning, I founded my netbook completely hung. So I turned off and restarted, but it hung in new and latest lines on the screen where the ACPI: _OSI (Linux) ignored BIOS query. From now my linux can start very well just with the following kernel options: nolapic noapic, acpi = off, acpi = noirq and my atheros wireless card does not work. A strange thing is that this wireless card is now detected by lspci as AR5001, but before it was detected as AR242x. I tried the madwifi and ath5k drivers, but does not. On the touchpad, it is activated and I can activate and deactivate by pressing fn + f1

This is the result of lspci with the ath5k driver

02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5001 Wireless Network Adapter (rev ff) (prog-if ff)
!!! 7F of type unknown header

So I upgraded the BIOS to latest version 2.10, but it remains the same. Tried to boot with knoppix usb stick and it to 'start the nucleus' without freezing kernel options.

    My system is Debian Squeeze.

So I don't know what's going on, can someone help me with this?

    Thank you

    Hello

It seems that it s not the right place to ask this question here. The point is that most Toshiba laptops come with Windows and not with a distribution of Linux. Also I m not a Linux user, but I have based this interesting article:

  • Impossible to activate WiFi on Toshiba NB100 - 11G

    Hello

I try to activate wi - fi on nb100-11 g. I activate WiFi fn - F1, and the indicator down is light with an orange color.
But it seems that wi - fi is not enabled, even if bluetooth is enabled.

So I try to turn on wi - fi through Control Panel, but it shows no connection made.
The only link that is there is the connection to the local network. Thus, wi - fi, is not activate.

    How can I activate it?

    Hello

The FN + F1 key combination allows both the WiFi and Bluetooth.
If BT has been activated then it would mean that you have chosen the BT instead of WLan connection and that's why the WiFi network is disabled.

Press the FN + F1 again and check if you could choose Wlan and could allow it.

  • Update breaks sound on Toshiba NB100 (NBR of Ubuntu 8.04)

My netbook ran a batch of updates yesterday, including a new kernel, I think that (2.6.24 - 27-lpia) and the result is no sound (everything seems to be fine). there don't seem to be able to find sound devices. The start of the previous kernel (2.6.24 - 24-lpia) seems to fix the problem, but of course, this isn't an ideal solution.

    Is there a solution?

    Thank you
    John

You think it can't happen twice, but it has and I can confirm that. Install easypeasy 1.6 if there is no solution for this problem. I tested the beta version installed on the usb memory and it works well.

  • Toshiba NB100-11R - the Graphicsadapter

I'm looking for more information about the card-Intel GMA 950 graphics.
On what graphics card could compare it?
    Support Pixel shader?

Akuma already post the link to the official website of Intel, and I agree with him.

The Intel graphics card is not so fast as ATI or Nvidia card if I newer games don't go on this laptop computer or graphic card.
It is not a problem to play more games on it, but as I said the recent games they need a good and fast graphics card does not work on the Intel card.

Why are you asking this? You want to buy this laptop, or you already have?
If not and you want to play games, you should seek a new Qosmio notebook.

  • NB100 - need help with Toshiba Eco Utility to advanced user

I want to ask the advanced user (knowing regedit, windows services and processes) and Eco Utility installed to help me with Toshiba Eco Utility.

    (1) I need the registry branch where Eco Utility to store preferences.
    (2) screenshot for TecoService services. With params.
    (3) screen capture of process. Looking for TPCMpwr.exe it

    Why I need?
I have Toshiba NB100 netbook where Toshiba has not released Eco Utility.
NB200 there, but not for NB100.
I don't know why... It will work, only I need the registry and services information.

P.S. If Toshiba engineers will read this post.
Why Toshiba release Eco Utility for NB100?

    Hi Lrrrr,

Just a simple question: what installation Eco Utility on your NB100?

But normally you don't need this utility of Eco. As much I know this tool only changes power settings Windows you can do it yourself too. It s a nice tool where you can reduce the energy consumption in a single click, but you can do it yourself if you create the own power profile or change.

  • NB100 - how to adjust the brightness of the screen?

    Hi all.

You just bought a NB100 - overall very very happy with it. Well built, good screen and very compact, etc.

You have some questions? The brightness of the screen is controlled by the Fn + F9/F10. I love that she's set on ' to Midway ' or less - in part to preserve the battery - but also because I find max brightness is actually TOO bright for me! But the reboot of the machine always seems to start up. Is there a way around this? There may be a firmware update (my machine seems to run version 1.90 which I believe is the most recent)?

I noticed other referring Fn + F8 discussions as a way to select Bluetooth/WiFi etc.? Mine seems to just control the setting of the fan and processor - fan speed "gray" setting gives clocked at 1.6 ghz and fan lights - while Fn + F8 activates / deactivates an icon fan 'white' - where the processor strangling up to 800/900 ish and the slows / stops (?) fan. [by the way I noticed some videos become "jerky" If you choose the lower setting]

I'm not 100% sure what Fn key + "pipe" (to the left of the formula 1)? The Fn + F1 turns on without wireless/wifi I know - but the key of "pipe" seems to be a symbol of Wlan (or is it the key to use for Bluetooth or GPS or other)? Sorry to sound so ignorant - but the user guide does not in this detail. I'm pretty sure that the machine, I have bought - that was one handed to new/refurbished Toshiba NB100 - model PLL10E - did not all BT/GPS etc - just the basic wifi which F1 comes on and goes off.

Last comment - and others have said - the main peaks are very difficult to see in the dark! The 'gray' color was definitely a design error! But I can live with that - either a usb light? or a few letters of stickon (white)?

    Greetings to all.

Hi, I think the best way to adjust the brightness is in the options of the properties of the energy available in the system tray icon. I don't know about the activation of bt and wlan, it seems that bt and WiFi devices are on the same circuit power, so not adjustable. Nb100 is a good inexspansive machine :)

  • NB100 - cannot boot from USB pendrive

    Hello

I wanted to try out Ubuntu netbook remix, so I downloaded and it loaded in my key USB of SB after making the md5sum test. Then I fixed on the boot order so the usb port would start first and rebooted my Toshiba NB100 with the pen drive inserted. When I start my netbook the first screen where you can press F12 and F2 for BIOS freeze for about 2 min then start windows.

I use a Kingston DataTraveler 4 GB USB key, I don't think it's the USB because as its bootable on my other laptop.

    Thank you.

    Hello!

This only happens with the USB or without USB too?

Have you tried another USB key? At the moment for me it sounds like the USB key is not compatible with laptops or isn't working properly.
Can you please try another USB key?

    Good bye

  • NB100 - failure and how to do a restore of the system startup?

I tried to do an update on my Toshiba NB100 11R (less than a month) and it failed, and now I can't start.

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Linux-based systems. Tried to boot from the CD (provided) with an external USB, disk drive and can not find anywhere to make a record of rollback/beginning of restore boot from, and I'm now stuck with a dead machine.

Any suggestions gratefully received! Thank you, Bill

When you turn on, press F12 repeatedly to access the boot menu - from there, you should be able to choose to boot from the recovery CD (not sure in your case if it counts as a CD or a USB device - trial and error I guess!).
