PSG, MSC

What would be the difference of adding music to the "rocket" or mode?

MTP, or Media Transfer Protocol, is a method where the Fuze + is recognized as a device of media (player) of the computer.  This mode is supported by Windows Media Player 10 and later versions.

DPW does many things in the background, as the sides of the song, album art and playlists are a snap.

On the other hand, it has a dark side, if you want to control the camera directly in MSC mode, where the player is considered a device memory.  You can't do some small tasks, generate a list of files on the device (in print), and some editing apps are struggling to process the files on the device, such as MP3Tag.

Oh, the rocket + is not affected yet (I HOPE it will be) by this annoying "read card" - this mode when you put up may be considerably shortened, or even deleted, with PSG as part of the equation.  But, I digress.

If you have protected media, as in the music and audiobook tracks subscription MTP is required to transfer the license information.

Otherwise, you can use the MSC mode.  MSC is a necessity if you use Linux or Mac OS, or even if you import information during a cp/m as the Kaypro 10 machine.  Hehe.  MSC is a wonderful thing, allowing direct control.

To complicate matters, you can drag and drop into the PSG too if you wish.  Can't use PIP as the Kaypro situation.

Tonight, I'm using old school data navigation for Hubble, such a cool machine.

  • PSG - MSC, WMP, Winamp, drag-and - d├⌐poser that nothing works for me to create playlists!

    Hello

Was very happy to buy the 8 GB Sansa Fuze player and now I am totally frustrated with it.

I have 2000 songs and I put them on the drive by drag / move (player was still in the factory settings). I had well organized my songs into folders because the ID3 tags are not all good, and I don't want to sit and edit the tags of 2000.

Obviously the player does not function to browse the folders so I started looking in the creation of playlists and he hass nothing but frustration since then.

I read almost all of the discussions about this and tried modes of the MTP and MSC and everything. Nothing works.

Windows Media 11 and Winamp player always without success.

Here's what I want to do:

    1. create playlists for each folder, I added in the 'Music' folder on the rocket, using the files on the "rocket" and not my computer being the music that I have loaded on different media (external hard drive / CD / etc).

2 be able to navigate to these playlists and play according to what I want.

I'm not a geek, but I'm not a starter. So all sorts of solutions welcome.

Please help me. I really want to throw the player rather than scroll through the songs of 2000 or modify their ID3 tags.

Feeding you the Lil Monsta first.  It's OK, but the "rocket" can have problems, find the files if they are not correctly tag tags ID3v2.3 ISO-8559-1.

Music files display correctly when browsing the device?

The "rocket" recognizes a variety of bit rates, as long as the files are in mp3 or wma format.

What you need to do is to take the files you have created and edit the ID3 field data as you wish, to group the files if you want.  If the files are grouped together in folders, you can extract the files (or pull the source even if they are available on your PC) and work top with MP3Tag, available for free download.

I have not tried, but it may be possible to change the files on the device, and then save them to the "rocket" and delete the mtable.sys file in the root directory before you leave or disconnect the "rocket". What I hope will happen, is that the original ID3 tag database will be rebuilt using your tags edited.

I mention this workaround solution, since you have already loaded 2000 files on the device.

The sticky issue is the 'default', used when you load your music.  MTP mode out-of-the-box, by default the "rocket" at less than your operating system of the Sansa queued data to open a session of MSC mode communication, based on automatic detection.

The probability is higher that, since you mention WiMP11, PSG is the mode of choice.  The file mtable.sys in the root directory is not seen in MTP mode.

Have you tried to synchronize your rocket with WiMP11?  The synchronization process can work in the opposite direction, pulling songs from the device in the library of your Media Player.  Once there, you can use the "Advanced" tag editor to correct tags, but MP3Tag can work on whole batches of similar files for you, or it may even take your entire collection of, say, ID3v2 tags and rewrite as 2.3 with the correct character set.

Chicken can allow you to generate playlists on your PC and send the .pla playlist file to your Sansa. (No, the files are NOT duplicated in a teeny .pla file, here is only a list of files!)

Finally, when you're connected in MTP mode, navigate to the music folder.  You can generate playlists at will, especially when they are already on the device using Windows Explorer in MTP mode. Choose a desired file, right click to create Playlist.  Rename this playlist as you want and open it.  Now, drag and drop all your titles in this list box.  Note Please!  You're not actually dragging the files in the list, just the TITLES go from there - how cool is that!

Two towers with lots of files: If you have a list, hold down the [SHIFT] key will allow you to extract all the files between the two clicks as a group, or now the [CTRL] will allow you to consolidate each individual file clicked until the release of [ctrl key].  Then, drag one of the files selected to the playlist, and all selected files will follow.

I prefer to drag these new playlists in playlist file, which makes them easier to find later, compared to the research of the multitude of files in the music folder.

  • Stuck on an artist

I have a Sansa Clip + and it is stuck on the reading of a single artist. I tried every button of the reader and is unable to play the rest of the songs. What should I do?

If you go down past artist, Album, song, etc. on the unit, on the next page, you should see the folders. Click in those and see if there is other material in addition to Glambert.

Or to help your computer to see what's out there, here is a step by step.

    Switch on the device.

Go to settings system/settings/USB Mode. You will see three: PSG, MSC and Auto Detect (which just passes between the MTP and MSC).

USB mode is confusing. It's the pipeline from the computer to the unit. The unit should see everything in his memory. But your computer can see a fashion at the time - so if you sent more than 500 songs via MTP and 11 through MSC, and you have your USB mode set to MSC, your computer will only see 11 songs.

If you have switched between computers, auto-detection may have sent the songs on via two USB modes.

So, try both and see if one of them does the rest of the visible files on your computer.

There is also the option of complete purge. If you have all your files elsewhere and you just want to empty the unit and start over, go to settings/system/Format settings. Will erase everything you put on the device and you can charge it again. I would say MSC - it's less complicated.

  • Sansa e260 deleted my music files

I deleted my file containing all my music. The music is always on the piece. I can play and there is no problem with my drive, but I can't see the music files, once I have plug into my PC. I just drag-and - déposer edit my songs. can it be fixed?

    Is the 4G 2 = e260

Well, if you have deleted the music folder, why you expect to see the files?

Try changing the USB Mode in the settings. There are 3 modes, PSG, MSC and Auto. Do not use Auto. Manually select the MTP or MSC. Search for your files. So always invisible, switch to the other mode, they should be visible now. Your computer can only see the files when you are connected in the same mode in which they were transferred in, not the other.

Another little thing... on the e200, the music folder series (and others) are "hidden". You must set Windows to "Show the hidden files and folders" to see them.

Maybe try to change your USB mode. Settings-> system-> USB mode... parameters it gives you the choice of the PSG, MSC and Auto-Detect(or Defect). MTP or MSC should allow you to find your songs... and then leave in this mode. Whatever this is added in one mode is invisible in the other, and the car can confuse the whole issue just

  • WMP11 will hang on the Sansa Fuze is connected

My wife made me the 4 GB Sansa Fuze for Christmas. When I tried to synic it with WMP, WMP crashes. In fact, it crashes every time that the rocket is connected. When it is not connected WMP11 works fine, all my music lists and the game are there but as soon as the rocket is reconginized by Windows, WMP11 closes or crashes right. I can get to the "FLARE" via the Explorer with no problems, it also loads and I can drag-and - drop files to it.

I have Real Player installed v10, but don't use it for music. I uninstalled and reinstalled WMP11, but it does not solve the problem. I found similar positions on WMP11, but they offer no help.

    I am running:

Windows XP Pro SP3 - up to date

    WMP11 - up to date

Sansa Fuze firmware version: 02.02.26A, USB Mode: automatic detection, but the problem is still takes place in PSG & MSC.

Any help is greatly appreciated. If I missed the solution in my research please point me in the right direction.

I'm under WiMP11 build 11.0.5721.5268 on this machine, slightly different, perhaps.  Take a look at this series of posts to Tech Arena.  The posts follow a nested formula, but the nuts and bolts are there if you scroll through them.

Looks like they found a problem with the DRM store.  The common question resembles a WiMP11 crash when a flash drive is plugged.  Let me know if it helps!

In a linked page, it comes to conflicts with the completed Revista codecs, I have not met with CCCP installed.  In fact, CCCP codec package improved performance, as I can see chapter data when a DVD is mounted.  Seized, DVD wouldn't play properly.

  • Computer is no longer registered on rocket music

Hello world!  I'm sure this has been posted before, but I couldn't find it through the search function.  My computer always saves my rocket (8 GB), but now it is no longer listed on the "rocket" music.

My drive was working fine this morning, but then I made the mistake of attaching the rocket during execution of Windows Media Center.  When I did, they say, the "update external media device.  I tried to cancel, but it wouldn't let me.

Now, when I plug my rocket into the computer, it says I used 6 GB, whereas before I had used only 2 GB.  What the devil does Windows Media Center on my rocket, how can I get down there, and what do I do to make my computer to register the songs that are out there?  (The computer records that 6 GB have been used, but when I open the files - music, podcasts, playlists, etc. - they are all empty.

Help, please!  I use my rocket constantly at work every day, so do not have it in perfect working condition feels sort of lack a member.

    Thanks in advance!

There are 2 modes of didffernt USB to add content (music, etc.), PSG & MSC. PSG is the Microsoft Transfer Protocol and is the method used on the "synchronization", music, etc. from your computer to your portable device. It's who I guess is when you plugged your rocket while Media Center is running. He "assumed" you wanted to (by default) 'sync' of this device, it now used 6 GB reading.

MSC or Mass Storage Class makes your device appears as just another flash, like a memory card or a USB storage device. The thing is, files added in a mode are not visible or accessible through your computer when you are connected to the other mode.

Now, just to make things even more fun... There is a 3rd setting on your rocket. Lovingly, I think of it as 'Auto-defaut '. This leaves the player and the computer detect & decide what USB mode to connect to. It will connect to the MTP by default, if possible, but if not, then MSC mode will be engaged.

So, I think Windows Media Center "synchronized" everything but the kitchen sink to your rocket, but you can't see this because you are connected (and search) in the other mode.

So in short, switch to the other mode USB and see if all of these files appear miraculously. Then, you have the pleasure of traverse and deleting everything you don't want. It may be easier & faster to just re - format the "rocket" and re-load your 2 GB of value, rather than trying to delete 4 GB a few files at a time.

And then, for the love of heaven, go into the settings of Windows Media Center and disable the function "auto-sync"!

  • Connection USB Z2 Xperia is not detected (after trying to update Lollipop)

    Hello world:

I get in most of the topics here, including (USB connection problem FAQ), but not found an answer to my problem. Find the post suggestions when you type the message topic a little clever novelty...

Well, I was happy to receive my mail yesterday regarding my availability of update available Lollipop Z2. SAT, open PC Companion on my Windows 7 laptop, make a backup of the settings (without photos or apps) and then to receive the update.

PC companion asked me to keep the phone unplugged, and that it would notify when connect me (Nice also)...

I started the download, but apparently the laptop came into fashion 'sleep' (not plugged into the wall), which was another reason for not having the phone connected (because of Z2 battery drain charge up to 100%)

The rest is blurry, but when I woke up the laptop, it stopped downloading at 51% and extending the.

A method to restart the laptop, but when I tried to connect the phone... nothing. Well, he is never detected by the laptop. Wireless Media Transfer option was still working, but it would not download the update (as if the USB connection is required). Tried to install it on another PC (with administrator privileges) and no go.

Never started phone update... works perfectly with this exception. PSG, MSC, USB debugging, nothing works). Helium does not work. Nothing!

I'm kind of crazy, since the update of the pacifier is not destructive (no fading phone data), but it seems that I will probably need to reset the phone.

    Help, please

Well, it seems that the problem is intermittent, as the PC has detected the phone and I was able to update to the pacifier. So.will hardware problem complete RMA. THANKS for all THOSE who have planted in. Please close thread.

  • advantages and disadvantages of the use of PSG vs msc mode?

I tried to find that answering this question somewhere else, but so far without success.  I recently got a Sansa fuse and this is the first time that I had to worry about the MSC vs MTP modes.

With all the debates of the MTP and MSC are and how to change the mode that it's in, what operating support systems what mode, etc etc etc...

I have not found anything specific to the Sansa fuse which tells me what mode is 'better' to use when I have a choice.  I know "better" is relative, but what are the advantages and disadvantages of each mode?  So far the only annoying I found on DPW is that you cannot use the option 'remove hardware safely' on most of the Windows OS, and that makes me a little nervous.  But it looks like one big annoying thing on MSC seems to be (?) that you can't always see what's on your drive when you are in Windows Explorer.

Any other pro and con on how choose (assuming you are using an operating system where you have a choice).

    Thank you!

Use MSC unless you have a subscription (Rhapsody, Napster, Overdrive) service which must transfer the information of DRM (digital rights misery), which only works with PSG.

  • File transfer using the PSG on a fedora 20 system

    Hello

I have a Sansa clip + and am having a few problems with files transferrring on the device from a Linux box using the PSG.

I'm running fedora 20 that automatically detects the device in MTP mode and it rises automatically.
What I read, it uses gvfs-PSG to connect to the device and the camera settles on a location, as:
    /Run/user/1000/gvfs/mtp\:host\=%5Busb%3A001%2C009%5d

I can see the files under internal memory/PSG in both file manager and command line.

However, I have problems of transfer of files from my computer to the device.
Using the file manager, it seems that I can copy MP3s from the computer to the device, but when I unplug the unit and look for the files copied to the device, that I can not find them.
Re-connect the device to the computer files that I copied are visible on the device.
Someone at - it an idea why I can't see the files copied to the device?

What I read fedora 20 uses a tool called gvfs-PSG to connect through the PSG. Did someone knows something about this tool and how does fedora use?
Anyone know how I can use it to transfer files to the device from the command line?

    ---------------------------------

I also read on the various positions that libmtp can be used for the transfer of files through the PSG. However I cannot connect using this, I guess because the device is already connected using some fedora method uses when it is plugeed in.
So I'm also trying to know a little more about what makes fedora when I plug a MTP device.
What process/process it TI that connects car when the device is connected?
What tool is used to mount the device when I plug?
How can I (UN) mount the device manually?
What is the difference between gvfs-PSG and libmtp? One other use?

Anyone know anything about the PSG on fedora 20? Or where I can be able to know about it? I came in white so far.

Why not use MSC in Windows and Linux? In my experience, PSG is enough glitchy in the two operating systems and there is really no advantage on MSC for most people.

  • Using (Playlists) SD Card in MSC Mode

    Hello;

In MSC Mode, Clip + and another removable drive to the SD card, as separate drives.  So if I were on a SD card, how would create playlists (m3u) which contain music of these two drives?  When connected to a computer, it is available drive letters; When it is not the case, however, there is no drive letters.  Therefore, I don't see how it can be "seemless" as someone mentioned.  I would use the MTP Mode, but I prefer not to as it is not flexible.

    Any thoughts?

In fact, you have a few questions here that need some explanation:

    1. Playlists m3u will be read & play songs of either of the reader memory internal or card SD, but not both. PLA format playlists is going play songs from two sources of memory. Personally, I use Winamp and MSC mode to create playlists .m3u. Then, I use a conversion program to convert the .m3u playlist a .pla one. This works. There are other means. I tell you, just the way that works for me.
    2. Reading 'Transparent', as has been mentioned here refers to the Clip + (or any player with a slot for SD card Sansa) and the fact that the player creates a database containing the songs of two memory locations using the information in the ID3 tags embedded in the files of the song and when 'Play All' (with or without the shuffle) is selected , will play files regardless of the location of the memory. Playlists are a different story (as explained in #1). The only difference is that if you use the folder view (in the menu music).
    3. MSC mode will allow your computer to see your player that separate the 2 discs, the internal memory and the card slot (if a card is inserted in time or not). Your computer sees your device in MTP mode as a single device requiring 'management' and does not assign a drive letter. You can still access two internal & external memories, but it is a "virtual". Also note that your computer can only see the songs in 1 mode at a time, so it is best to figure out which is best for you depending on how you plan to use the drive and all that transfer you the content in this mode 1.

I am with you and a guy MSC through & through. PSG has its purposes (content DRM such as Rhapsody, etc.) and the fans, but MSC you gives the user much more control and is easier all around.

  • MSC 'CLIPP.

Hi all. Thank you for this forum.

I use 01.02.09 by Sansa Updater. I reinstalled the firmware manually.

My computer does not connect to my Clip + unless I'm in MSC.  When the Clip + is connected, my computer affects both the internal drive and external SD card even slot drive letters without the SD card into the slot. It's funny, too, that the drive internal is labelled and spelled "SANSA CLIPP.

My computer shows the root directory of the internal memory with files and the following files - MTABLE, WMPInfo, RES_INFO, SYS_CONF, version.sdk

When I open one of the folders, as not to say MUSIC, there are no files shown in the folder, even if there are a crapload of music on my Clip +. The internal drive has 2 907 MB of free space.

If the gadget gods are with me, please give me a solution easy without having to do a format.

    Pozz says:

When the Clip + is connected, my computer affects both the internal drive and external SD card even slot drive letters without the SD card into the slot. It's funny, too, that the drive internal is labelled and spelled "SANSA CLIPP.

This is normal mode MSC. And no, the spelling is not incorrect in Windows Explorer. The extra 'P' means yours is a Clip +. The symbol "+" is not allowed.

If you don't see all the music when you are logged in this mode, the player must have at the same time connected in MTP (probably in Auto Vice) which allowed you to put music on it. Your computer cannot see what has been added to PSG while the drive is connected to the MSC and vice versa.

Many people have connection problems during the use of the PSG. And stay away from automatic default altogether. Unless you really need the PSG for DRM crippled, like Rhapsody or Overdrive/Audible audio books content, I suggest the formatting of the player, switch manually to MSC and re-load everything. Yes, it might take a while depending on how all memory of the player is, but once you do,'s done it. And you have other login problems.

  • 1 gigabyte of invisible music in MSC mode

Hi guys. I see my Sansaclip as a storage device usb with the root of my memory of 2 GB internal/computer/Sansa clip files on the internal memory are: Albums, audio books, music, playlists, podcasts, recording, service - as well as a file devicon. I put music on the Sansa when buying a months ago, and it's been great. Now, I tried to find these albums, that the excellent work on the Sansaclip, remove some of them, but this is not possible. The mentioned files are all empty, except for the music folder with 4 testsongs files delivered with the Clip. However, the internal memory is full, and I have obviously checked 'show hidden files/folders', so is not the problem. Where the Sansa Clip hid all the music, and what I can do to be able to see him again? The problem would be that I loaded the music of win2k and I now use winxp? It seems absurd, because it is simple mp3 files, but given this player cache by far just 1 GB, everything is possible. Appreciate your help.

See my response here: free space decreases slowly.

It seems that your machine Win2K wrote files in MSC mode, while the XP computer uses of the PSG.

  • mode MSC e250 presents itself as the 2 discs with 0kb and unknown file formats

I have an e250 v01.00.12A and when I put in MSC mode and connect to my computer, it shows two disks, each completely empty and with a size of 0 and an unknown file system. The system setting menu has NO option to reformat the drive. I'm trying to install Rockbox or even just update the firmware, but I am completely at a loss on how to address the issue. I tried using the Sansa Updater into recovery mode, but nothing has worked. Manual updates don't work because I have no way to get the files on the device in MSC mode.

    Thanks for the help.

Too bad. I have it. I updated the firmware and formatted (Sansa.fmt) in recovery mode. I had to do it twice, for some reason; the first time he totally ruined the memory and it would not connect in control or PSG in addition to showing as 0 MB in the settings menu. Tried again, and it works fine now. Thanks for the help, c1u31355!

  • Question about MTP/MSC modes

I believe that if you select the MTP and browse the contents of your music via your PC, you can see the files transferred via MSC - and vice versa, if you select MSC, you can't see the files transferred via PSG - is that correct?

If so, let's say that you have transferred files to your Clip via MTP and others by MSC - you will see of PSG and masters of the files when you browse through the clamp itself, but only one or the other if you browse a PC?

    Thank you...
