Put at the disposal of the VM network

Hello world

I am looking for help to allow me to make a virtual machine, I run on VMware Fusion available to my home network. Info as follows.

  • Running VMware on OSX Mavericks 6
  • VM is a Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS
  • VM has a Web site running on the local host that I can access on my Mac using the IP address of the virtual machine

So what I want to be able to do is to access the site hosted on the virtual machine on my iPad.

How do I get there?

Thanks a lot for any help in advance.

Best regards, David.

dairhyswilliams wrote: Yes 100% which is the correct IP address.

If you have assigned un.2 for the last byte of the IP address of the Virtual Machine, when it is set to NAT (share with Mac) you shouldn't have le.2 for the last byte of the IP address for VMnet 8, the default NAT virtual network, is reserved for the gateway.  Manually assigned IP addresses for the last byte should fall entre.3 et.127 as they are beyond the scope of the DHCP server IP address Pool.

Just an info...  You can avoid using the Port Forwarding setting to the VMS in bridge network adapter and then it's on the same subnet physical LAN IP is the host and you don't need to use the Port Forwarding!

I think that it shouldn't be a problem to upgrade the WLan card.
As far as I know its a card wireless network of miiPCI and you would need to also use a WLan card which would support the miniPCI interface.

  • HP 7520: HP 7520 will not connect to the wireless network

There is some additional information to

    http://forums.Xfinity.com/T5/home-networking-router-WiFi/HP-7520-will-not-connect-to-wireless-networ...

    on this issue.

Have several APs for a single wireless network allows the printer foolish law.  (Not a Repeater, a second AP connected to the local network with the same configuration of network for security, etc.).

I solved this problem.  In accordance with the discussion on the link, the problem is that the printer cannot connect to a wireless network if there is greater than 1 for a wireless network (SSID) name wireless access point.

This thread has had several useful suggestions, but what finally solved the problem, it's the second point has access to a mode where I can create a 'virtual' access point and, above all, a SSID associated.

Note that not all access points or routers support virtual APs, but this function seems to be more common over time.  Older models is not able to do that.  However, a new access point is sometimes cheaper than a new printer.

If you do not understand the jargon in the procedure below, I recommend that you find someone who does, then they can do it for you.

    Solution:

    1. On one of the wireless access on the network, create an a new virtual AP with a slightly different name SSID (for example < name of the network - > _1), on the same VLAN (usually VLAN 1).  You may need to put the AP in "multiple AP mode" or something similar, and then restart the AP.  All other settings (DHCP, security, mixed mode b/g/n, etc.) must be the same for the new SSID.
    2. Run the printer Wireless Setup and connect it to this new SSID
    3. Confirm that the printer can be seen by other devices on the network

    Tips:

    • Check the security is the same as the original SSID, Alternatively you can create a vector of insecurity in your network.  Do not WEP-128 when the other SSID uses WPA2 AES, for example.
    • The AP I had had several resets to make it work because of the mode and parameter changes.
    • If you connect the SSID but cannot connect to or be seen by anything on your network, check the new SSID/AP is in the same VLAN as the original.
    • Because the printer is not roaming, and the speed is not a problem for me, I used the access point that could support this solution, which is deeper and slower than my primary AP.  I have not noticed any problems.

The printer has been reliable on the wireless now on the new SSID, 48 hours.

I have not upgraded any software on a client of the printer (PC, Mac, phones).

I think that it is a positive confirmation that the problem is with the implementation of the printer of the stack of network and not with the driver or client software on remote devices.  The 802.11 protocols provide for a network name (SSID) wireless with several access points using different MAC addresses.  I suggest this HP look into this as a potential bug with their network printer for the 7520 protocols stack.

  • Can't connect to WIFI on all locations where the WIFI network is available

    Hello

It is a matter of compatibility between the WLan router and wireless network card.
If the wireless network adapter does not support the same Wlan standards then you will not be able to establish the WiFi connection.
Especially the hotspots (Wlan on airports, city, etc.) are not secure and that is why the laptop automatically connects to these wireless LANs.

The WiFi network at home or in the office is secure for most and you need a right encryption key to connect to these wireless LANs.

So I think you should check you settings router WLan configuration and usage of encryption right key, SSID, etc.

  • Satellite Pro A100 has "limited or no connectivity" & no connection to the local network

    Hello!

I + really + hope someone might be able to help with this - been going slowly crazy.

Bought my A100 18 months ago in Australia while I lived there and had no trouble to connect to LANs and others with my wireless. Everything was shipped over to me (here in London) last week and everything seems to have gone pear shaped. The House I live in has Wireless Broadband comes with our Sky Cable subscription, working on (I think - there is no real marking on the device) a router wireless Netgear A/G dual band (108 Mbps 802.11 b/g network). My laptop model is: SatellitePro A100 (part No.: PSAACE-007002EN) and it works on the following network hardware (drivers installed in brackets):

    1394 net adapter (5.1.2535.0)
    Intel(r) PRO/1000 PL Network Connection (9.2.24.0)
    Intel (R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (10.1.0.13)

I used the Sky Broadband installation disc to set up the network, but every time I try to connect it tells me that I have "Limited or no connectivity" and will not let me online. I've been on the phone for Technical Support of sky for hours, trying to get this sort, but when I plug in the Ethernet cable to the laptop it will not even get to communicate directly with the router (i.e. put the IP address of the router in explore and view the settings of the router). My 'Connectivity Doctor' shows there is a problem with my wireless connection (which the network has not assigned a network address of the computer), but no problem with my ethernet connection and yet neither will allow me to get online and every time that I try to repair the wireless connection I get an error message saying that Windows could not renew the IP address.

I have disabled the Bluetooth, reset the router I don't know how many times and made sure that all cards have been activated and crosses without bad red and yellow exclaimation in Device Manager. All network devices seem to be "working properly" (according to the properties of the device).

After days of weeding through the proverbial haystack of resources online while at work, I think that the problem is either something very simple (i.e. a setting random advanced configuration). I read somewhere as you will need to 'install' the router on the system, and that is not "plug and play" as Sky Broadband seems to have deduced by phone... but I would have thought the installation CD has done this, as when I discovered my connections (when the Ethernet cable is plugged in), it recognizes the connection (it won't only ++ anything). If there is no specific process I need to follow in order to properly install the Netgear router (for which I am currently trying to see if there are appropriate drivers, I need to download), I'd appreciate a lot of the age of enlightenment! It could also be a question that I need to reset the network key in the security settings of the router, as there are already three computers in the House connected to the network... but of course I can not do without first sorting on why my laptop can still communicate with the router via the Ethernet connection.

    Points to note:
-My laptop runs on Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2
-The disc to install Sky Broadband installed Internet Explorer 7. the last time I was online, I think that I was still using 6.

If anyone could be of any use to solve this puzzle, you have earned yourself my eternal gratitude!

    -Danielle

  • HP Deskjet 3830: Printer connected by wireless worked well until someone joined the home network - looking for password now!

I created my HP Deskjet 3830 yesterday and it worked on wireless connection. At no time was I asked a network security key.

A colleague joined today to the home network (yesterday I was myself), and requested a key security network - to my surprise I was so.

I put my wireless network password, and he says that it is evil. I used HP Print and Scan doctor to confirm the password (I guess that's the same thing as a "security key" - it was OK, but I keep being told it's wrong.)

  • HP Deskjet 2540: help! Cannot connect to the home network wireless HP 2540.

So, I'm trying to connect my new wireless printer to my home network.  Yay!  I move into the 21st century!   Not so fast, Buster!

    Here's the run down:

I ran the installation CD, connected to a USB port when told to find my SSID, entered my password, he did his thing and then he said that I had the wrong password.  Perhaps. Ok.  Tried again with the same results.    Connected on the router (gateway of Technicolor), checked the password.  Nope, it did ' t change.  Tried again, and this time, I hit the button troubleshooting when he told me that I had the wrong password.

I followed the guide that he d/l would be after the presentation of the error report.  Run the test of wireless network from the buttons on the printer and it says "the WPA security password configured on your HP printer is not your wireless router setting."  I assure you, expensive printer, I have not.

Jumped on the router page configuration when you are prompted by the guide troubleshooting and ensured that MAC filtering has been set to 'allow all' which, according to the manual of the router assures me, will allow all devices to connect.  Made sure that the 2 GHz range was alive and Kickin ' and that DHCP is enabled in the IPv4 & 6 tabs.  I even reset the router as the troubleshooting guide said.  Ran the test report yet, not logged in.  It is then the troubleshooting guide abandoned and directed me here.

But then I noticed in the manual of the printer there is a WPS function available!  WPS!  It's must be!   Pressed the button wireless to the printer for 5 seconds to put in WPS mode, press the button on the router... not good.  I noticed that on top of one of the many reports of tests wireless network there is a WPS PIN which was good for 5 minutes.  Got a new a new wireless network test report, went into the router WPS customer PIN login page, entered it... no good.  I tried again with the page, open and ready to go, just in case I took longer than 5 minutes.  Still not good.

So I thought I would at least give the option 'WiFiDirect' to try printing.  I printed the page "Use printer wireless without a router" by pressing the direct wireless for about 5 seconds, found the printer in the WiFI networks and entered the password to 8 digits when he asked for the WPA key.  I don't remember if he said it was the wrong key or what, but now it just says: unable to connect to the network.

All the test reports diagnostic results show the wireless on and functional.  Connectivity has not been executed, the SSID was found with no other network corresponding to my network name, with 12 other networks detected.  The settings part was not run and Security (in bold and in italics as in the report) down (in the report) since, I guess, he thinks that I have the wrong password.  Who, once more, I assure you that I am not.

So my question is basically this: now what?

Well, I told you a hundred times... Gateway devices are terrible for connectivity and wireless performance.   My suggestion is for connect you to put this bridge in full bridge mode device and buy a router of high quality that you have full control over and you.   I gave everything but peripheral gateway troubleshooting.

Hello.  I would like to know a little better on the domain network.  My computer is currently the Working Group on my home network.  I read on the domain network and it is said that

"If you have a user account on the domain, you can connect to any computer on the domain without needing an account on this computer." (from windows help and support)

Does that mean exactly?  This means that if my computer joined to the domain, other computers on the same network of domain can access all the files on my computer (the files that I have has not yet implemented to share)? or does this mean that other computers on the domain can connect to my computer as remote desktop? (I do not want that to happen...)

It seems like a lot that the office uses the domain network and I would like to know how it works.  I read some articles on the field and how to put in place and other things, but I couldn't specify my question.  I appreciate if anyone can help my answer.

    Hello

Using domain causes a topology around real server (like Windows 2008).

Companies use this topology because of the size of their system and the need for central control.

There is no advantage to using such topology for small home network.

If you use the parameter field and that you do not have a General with your network domain server will not work correctly.

I have a new laptop at home which has windows xp sp 2 is installed.  I am trying to connect to my wireless network.
    I get the following error;
The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration.  This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii or 26 hexadecimal characters.

I gave my father a new laptop computer this fall and he gave me one that had given him his friend... I've never worked with XP Pro...

We have several other phones on this account wireless at home.

You try to login with the wrong encryption method and you have this implemented extremely secure wireless network.

Have a computer connected to the router with an ethernet cable. Examples given are for a Linksys router. See the manual of your router or the router mftr's Web site. for the parameters by default if you don't have a Linksys. Open a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox and in the address bar type:

http://192.168.1.1 [Enter] (it is default IP address of the router, which varies from router to router then check your manual)

This will bring you to the login screen of the router. The default username is blank and the Linksys default password is "admin" without the quotes. Enter this information. You are now in the configuration of the router utility. Your configuration utility may be slightly different from mine. The first thing to do is to change the default password because * all * known default passwords for different routers.

Click the Administration link at the top of the page. Enter your new password. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE. Re-enter the password to confirm it, and then click Save settings at the bottom of the page. The router will reboot and show you the box of connection again. Do not fill in the user name and put it in your new password to enter the configuration utility.

Now, click on the link wireless at the top of the page. Change the network name (SSID) wireless by default to something, you'll recognize. I suggest that my clients not use their surname as the SSID. For example, you might want to name your network wireless network "CastleAnthrax" or similar. ;-)

Click on save settings and when you get the prompt that your changes were successful, click the wireless security link which is just beside the Basic Wireless Settings link (where you changed your SSID). Most computers purchased during the last 4 years have the wireless hardware that will support WPA2-Personal (also known as WPA2-PSK). This is the desired encryption level. If your wireless hardware is older, use WPA. Don't use WEP, because who is easily broken within minutes. So go ahead and set the Security Mode WPA2-Personal. Do this and enter a password. For example, you could use the password ' here be dragons, beware you scurvy dogs! The password is what you enter on all computers that are allowed to connect to the wireless network. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE.

At this point, your router is set up and if the computer that you use to configure the router will normally connect wireless, disconnect the ethernet cable and wireless of the computer should see your new network. Enter the password that you have created (exactly as you wrote it with all capital letters and punctuation) to join the network and start surfing. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
