  • How to activate the Sleep function to put the computer to sleep if a program is open?

I have Windows Vista basic on a desktop Dell 530.  I found that if I have a program or application running (such as I-tunes or windows media player) then the Sleep function will not put the computer to sleep.  How to activate the Sleep function to replace these programs and put the computer to sleep?

Note: This is how it was with windows XP, the Sleep function would put the computer to sleep no matter what was running, he was reliable, if you left the computer and I forgot that you had something running.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi kevino4130,

If you disable sharing on your computer (not only the power settings) of media, it should allow him to enter the mode 'sleep'.

See if that does not solve your problem and let us know.

  • Files on a share network stuck as 'read only' to put the computer to sleep.

By necessity, I use my 98 computer windows that the file server since tempting to access any shares of Vista will cause Windows 9 X to crash. It is already used as a print from the Vista computer server does not have a parallel port.

I worked on a Microsoft Word document and subject to frequent interruptions. When I put the computer to sleep before walking away from the keyboard, it isn't properly disconnect the Win98 system. Wake up to the computer, I am unable to save office documents, because they are locked for editing.

In addition, sometimes even after I close Word or Excel, the system is not disconnected. Even when I stopped all other computers, the Win98 system reports that there are still users connected to the system when I go to stop him so. Is it possible to force the Vista computer to disconnect all network connections before you put it to sleep or stopping then the Win98 system recognizes that no one is online and that all the files will be closed?

I really don't want to have to close a document that I am in the middle of working on when I have to walk away from the keyboard, but this seems the only solution to the problem. Leaving open is the main reason that I put the computer to sleep rather than stop it. Recording locally is not really a good option because I want files stored in one place, and Vista Home Premium does not support synchronized folders.

Any suggestions? I already use the Briefcase feature to save documents on a flash drive, do I have to use the drive in question and transfer it to the server through network disks? This seems to beat the goal of a network.

The affected systems are Windows 98 Second edition and Windows Vista 64 bit Home Premium =.

    Hello

Win 98 is a former client OS, server to call (or any other OS cleint) is nice, but this does not mean that they can be found on a peer-to-peer network and behave like a real server.

Under this situation (using Win 98 for a server) it is not advisable to change the files over the network. First copy them to the Vista Edit computer and then synchronize. Return using one of the many free synchronization applications that work on most of the windows releases.

    Example, http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Allway_Sync/allwaysync.html

There is no judgment of network functionality, if the Application is enabled and go to sleep while a file is open on Win 98 it will stay open. Closing the file needs to be done by the application.

  • Lose the FTP connection after you put the computer to sleep

I usually work in Dreamweaver on my Macbook. However, if I'm working on a Web site and decide to stop for a while (it's how I closed my Macbook), everytime I open my Macbook again, so lost FTP connection. Sometimes it comes back after a long period of time, and other times I can do return disconnection/reconnection airport several times. But most of the time, I just closed Dreamweaver and reopen it. If I do this, the connection works perfectly again.

Does anyone know how to avoid to have to close and restart Dreamweaver in order to maintain the FTP connection after having put a Macbook to sleep?

The FTP queue time is set by your web hosting provider.  I don't think DW has mechanisms in place to send empty commands to keep the connection alive, and even if it did, it would take the computer to be operational.  You shouldn't have to restart DW well in order to get a connection.  Simply by clicking on the login button in the files panel should do the trick.

  • Is there an F key that puts your computer to sleep?

There is a key on the keyboard that puts your computer to sleep?

N ° you must do it from the start menu or yuu can be programmed to go to sleep when you close the lid if it is a laptop.  You can also create your own keyboard shortcut that will put the computer to sleep (but this isn't an F key).

I hope this helps.  If you want more information, reply back asking questions about what you want to know.

Have Vista Home Premium. When I put the computer on the mode 'sleep', it closes and moves to the State of low consumption with the screen. But in a few seconds without touching the key or mouse it starts again. What is going on?

For this kind of issues Stand-By and hibernation, I tend to start thinking about video drivers.

You did not provide the requested information on your video drivers or the way in which your Stand By button behaves right now.

If you did a system recovery from the CD supplied with your system, drivers on the recovery CD may be outdated or you may have updated your system in the past - that's why it used to work.

I could go to the wide wide world of eMachines Web page and see if you have the latest video drivers and update your system if necessary:

    http://www.eMachines.com/support/drivers.html

Looks like you need VGA driver version 6.14.10.3889.

You can find your current version by following the previous instructions.

In the meantime, since you think that your system has a type of infection, I also recommend to do this:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

The scans by operating clean, then to solve any problems.

    1. Restart your computer.

We need the DMP file because it contains the single record of the sequence of events that led to the accident, what drivers have been loaded, and what has been loaded.

WE NEED AT LEAST TWO FILES DMP TO SPOT TRENDS AND TO CONFIRM THE DIAGNOSIS.

If you're overclocking (pushing components beyond their design) return you to default at least until the crash is resolved. If you don't know what it is that you're probably not overclocking.
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting in SafeMode (F8) with networking.
If you are overclocking stop.  (chances are that if you are unsure if you are, you are not)

  • Computer stops when the power to the computer to sleep, on computer virus problem

    Hello

When I put my pc sleep and wake him up, a window pops up saying that the machine has stopped unexpectedly, and then the pc automatically reboots by itself,.

after reboot, a window box comes in saying that the pc rebooted one... and that Windows will inform me what to do.  What happened yesterday and today.

I must say however that Friday evening, August 24, my pc was slow work, since a few days I noticed, but Friday it was slower, I could see that something

moving in often via the little blue wheel icon that shows that something is happening.

I "had" McAfee Total Protection in my machine since 08/05/2012 and last night I clicked on the McAfee to do a full Scan of my pc, because I thought there was something fishy in it.  McAfee Full Scan clicked, a blue page with white letters arrived, quick and deep that I saw Dump numbers going up to 100, then the blue screen came out and restarted my PC.  After reboot a small box of Windows came to say that the machine had stop unexpectedly, he

has run a control bar, when in fact something like 'your stop machine unexpectedly and windows will inform you what to do', something like that.  I then

new click the McAfee icon, click the full sweep, the same thing happens again anywhere.

Then, I went to the website of McAfee and talkative with Technical Support, he came into my pc to see for himself, he opened the Navigation button and had IP

address to which McAfee was 'downtime '.  He told me I had a virus in my computer... He gave me a phone # to call for assistance in the removal of the virus. I called, the man

did not come into my PC to see, he said, I had to pay $89. something taken him. I closed with him, went with the customer, aksed for my refund...

sad situation, but I withdrew my PC with McAfee.

I've downloaded Malwarebytes, checked my PC had 2 Trojan horses, you click on Remove to remove the.  Still had Malwarebytes in pc, I went to Trend Micro, which I had before in my pc for years and renewed my Sub. with them and has installed. After doing a full Scan, no virus.

I made a 'machine checking if' work properly AM early this morning.

This afternoon, August 25. I opened my pc, the audit began, time + after pc restarted normally, then all of a sudden the blue window came with white letters, dump numbers went up to 100 then pc rebooted, Windows little box came "... unexpected" and normal ran pc after.  Worked a bit on the pc then place to sleep so I could go somewhere, when I clicked on the mouse to wake up, as I always do in the pc, it awakened, blue page with while that the lettering came, took place on the same things as above.  PC ran good, had to go eat, put the pc to sleep, came back same thing occurred again

I searched what happens and found nothing.  I went to the community, there nothing either.  So I'm here today to help hoping that you know what is happening.

Thank you for your time and your help.

    Hello

Currently, you have a program full-time antivirus installed on the computer?

If you do not have one, I suggest you to install Microsoft Security Essentials.  Follow this link to download.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/products/security-essentials

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Run a Scanner online from Microsoft.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.
The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Method 2: To remove the virus manually, see the article:

How to remove a computer virus?
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/how-do-I-remove-a-computer-virus

Important: The Troubleshooting Manual in the link above steps show you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
