Qosmio E10: The drive only reads DVD-R double layer / DVD + R

Hey all,.
I was wondering if someone could forward that request to the person responsible slimdrive firwmares to Toshiba.
He finds that the carpet * a UJ-830 s drive not reading DUAL LAYER DVD-R / DVD + R (although it reads DVD-ROM OK DVD9).
This disc, Mat * a UJ - 830 s equips the Qosmio E10.
I have searched everywhere for a firmware update without success, so Toshiba are my only remaining chance.

There is an update of the firwmare in of the Qosmio E10 driver section but that's UJ - 831S (and it does not work on UJ-830 s) :/
Thanks for reading.

Hello

AFAIK this unit has a DVD Super Multi drive and it must use media suite:
CD-ROM (Read) CD - R(read/write) CD - RW(read/write) DVD-ROM (read)
DVD-R(Read/Write) DVD - RW(read/write) DVD + DVD + R(read/write) RW(read/write) DVD - RAM(read/write)

In addition, these speeds are available:
Maximum speed CD-ROM(24x:read) CD-R(24x:write) CD-RW(10x:write) DVD-ROM(8x:read)
DVD-R(8x:Write) DVD - RW(4x:write) DVD + DVD + R(8x:write) RW(4x:write) DVD - RAM(3x:write)

Maybe this drive can t use the double layer? I think he uses a normal DVD

Good bye

  • Solutions to the problem of CD/DVD drive cannot read DVD discs

This article will tell you 3 ways to solve the problem of the CD/DVD drive do not read the DVD disc. Please the process step by step.

    Solution1. Clean the DVD disc

If your Player cannot detect the DVD disc, the first thing you need to do is to clean the DVD disc. Use a soft and dry cloth (not painted) to wipe the disc from the center of the disc to the edge. Please take care to not to use a paper to clean the disc with a circular motion, it will scratch the disc.

After cleaning, inert the DVD on the drive to see if it works, if the reader can't read the disc, use a cloth of cotton wet with water or alcohol to clean the disc. After the disc dry, inert re the disc on the drive. If the reader can read, the operation is complete. If this isn't the case, please turn to the option2.

Option2. Check the disc to see if it has been damaged

Draw the DVD from the drive and check if there are some scratches or small cracks on the disc. If the disc is damaged, please try another DVD disc to see if the drive can read. If the drive cannot recognize the new disk, there could be a problem with the CD/DVD drive. Please turn to solution 3.

Solution3. Clean or repair the CD/DVD drive

When a CD/DVD drive has been used for a long time, its ability to play disc will only get worse. Then, the reader can not read some discs, or blocking your computer in the middle of the reading disc. This is usually due to the aging of certain parts of the disc, CD/DVD player dirty.

Open the drive to check if the DVD reader accumulates dust and dirt, if so, the cold air from the hair dryer allows you to clean the inside of the DVD drive. Be sure to not blow on the optical sensor orally, or clean it with a cloth of cotton with water or alcohol. After cleaning, insert a DVD disc on the drive to see if it works. If still no, you need to call the s command customer service or take the reader to a computer repair shop.

Why do you need the driver for a DVD player?
As far as I know the drive uses the standard Windows drivers and it s not necessary to install any other drivers.

  • Satellite Pro A40: CD-RW/DVD drive cannot read DVD

    Hello

The reader combo CD-RW/DVD on my Satellite Pro A40 (14 months) stopped reading DVDs (DVD - R or the video, have not tried other types), although it can play DVDs some time. I've cleaned the disc by using a cleaning disc. I think the problem started when I upgraded the OS to WinXP SP1 to SP2, but not sure. I tried CD - R and CD - RW writing and no errors were reported, but the CD that result are unusable (can't be read in the drive, with the LED blinks a few times and then to infinity).

Someone has an idea how solve this ptoblem? Thank you

    Richard

    Hi Richard,

I suggest that you go the Device Manager on your laptop and then remove your devive DVD-ROM in the list. When you have done this and then select the option "Find new hardware" and allow Windows XP Reinstall the device and associate the appropriate driver.

  • Cannot find the drive "D" (CD/DVD)

    Hello

There was a D drive on my laptop before and now there isn't.

I have no idea how he disappeared. The reader is for both CD and dvd discs.

Now, when I put the discs in the drive, they start charging, but finish. I also can't find the drive in "My Computer".

Could someone help me on how to recover the drive?

    Hello

You mean that the CD/DVD drive?
In the first case, you should check if the CD/DVD drive appears in Device Manager.

If you see a yellow exclamation point next to the CD/DVD drive, then you must remove the STRANGE since the Device Manager.
In addition, you should access the registry using the regedit command and should remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

After this procedure to restart the computer again!

  • How can I find the driver for a DVD PC with XP and Service pack 3 Player

24/07/2012, I bought Microsoft Office 2010 home and student.  The DVD on my PC wouldn't read the disc to install Office.  I called Microsoft and technology who have downloaded it told me that the driver did not work on the DVD.  I looked at everything on my computer and it all States that everything works correctly.  I need to know how I can find the drivers on my computer.  A search provides all kinds of things to sell to download, but I couldn't find anything to tell me how to locate the drivers.  Is there a way I find them and archive them without having to buy something or to download something that I can see what who and where they are and determine whether any of them are defective?

    Thank you.

It is not a problem for the responses of the Office forum, but try this: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us

The computer can play other DVDs besides the desktop with what drive it is having a problem?  If not, it's a player or a Windows problem.  If Yes, then this particular desktop drive might have a problem (dirty, defective, etc.).  If it turns out to be a disc problem, MS supports will replace him.  http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

Or, just to work around the problem by downloading the installer here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-office_install/here-are-the-download-locations-for-office-2010/ac67aa2f-dc1c-46f4-8b1d-ca00b3f02a18

  • DVD/CD drive will read DVD but not CD

My DVD player plays DVD but not CD.  Whenever I try to play a CD, the player is a kind of hum noise.  Finally, the Player opens and a popup tells me to insert a disc.

I tried a system restore and the automated Microsoft fixit tool.  Nothing has worked.

    I use Vista Ultimate.

    Any ideas?  Thank you.

    Hello

Step 1: Please make all underneath the same if you've done it before as it's often the total of the process which
    solves the problem.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). Therefore, it is not unusual for 1 or 2 rooms with not so work that others do it properly.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are some registry entries
that the troubleshooter does not, and those who "could" be the cause.

Check with your system manufacturer Maker and device for possible firmware updates and the good
    Your player registry entries.

Here are the keys in my opinion, are those in question - for the reader of CD/DVD subkeys of course that he will be
other subkeys in these keys. Be sure to ask specific keys involved as well as the parameters.

  • Not able to install the driver for CD/DVD drive

    CD - dvd burner driver

accidentally remove my cd - dvd burner driver while upgrading windows vista to windows 7. tried to download from Sony eSupport and only can be updated with windows vista, is there any other driver that I can download to solve my problem? If it is fake where I?

CD/DVD players use fairly generic drivers. Reach:

    Start-> Control Panel-> Device Manager.

Expand the tree next to CD/DVD players. Right click on the CD drive and select uninstall. Wait for the driver to complete uninstallation then right-click again and select "Update driver software".
