Qosmio G10: Monitor completely blackened

Hello!

I have a problem with my Qosmio G10, I turn on the laptop, the fan made a noise, and finally he logs in Windows. Meanwhile, I can't see what is happening, because the screen is blacked out. I hear just to log on Windows.

I tried to connect a normal PC monitor, in addition to press Fn + F5, which is the shortcut key for b/w display switch types.

If anyone has or has had the same problem and could help me, I would be more than grateful, as long as this problem is happening for weeks.

Hello

Have you tried to boot in safe mode?
Please check if this is possible and if it will not solve the problem of the display.

But if the note, then I suggest that there is something wrong with the display or a part of the screen for example: FL inverter.
In this case the best way is to contact Toshiba service partner because he could do a diagnostic test and it can get a good answer what part is default.

Good bye

  • Qosmio G10 begins with vertical lines on the screen

    Hello, can anyone help?

When I try to start my sign qosmio G10 comes on with vertical lines on the screen. And the screen goes black and I can only hear the fan.
In VGA mode, it begins upward, but always with the lines on the screen.
Is there something wrong with the video card? In my view, that there are more people with this problem.
    Toshiba offered little help?

I'm 'out out of warranty '. I need to by a new complete motherboard or y at - it another option? Replace the video card?

    Hello

Its a shame about the warranty because you ask the service partner Toshiba for the verification of the laptop and this procedure would be free. You know, the warranty would cover the audit of the laptop.

But I would say the external display connection and then you can check if the same vertical lines appear on the external display.
If you see the lines on the second monitor, then I guess it could be something wrong with the graphics card or motherboard.

I think that this procedure is the best way to find out what could be the problem, but anyway, I think you should ask a technician for assistance if you want to solve this problem.

PS: Have you tried to reinstall or update the graphics driver? I think you should do it but I don't know if it will help you, but you know Mr. try is free ;)

One of my friends had a similar problem with the vertical lines on other mobile manufacturing, and it was a WLan cable which was responsible for the strange lines on the screen.

  • Replacement card mother Qosmio G10

After replacing the card mother a Qosmio G10-120 original Win Xp MCE with the official update (FC43S1 A5A001749010 P000454980 jury), some problems have arisen:

    1. second HARD drive internal no more seen.
    2. all buttons stop "standby/disable rebooting the computer" do not completely take effect (office closed way unexpected but manual power button continues to show the color blue and portable remains active).
    3. always on cooling fan.

    Upgrade the motherboard consisted of:

    1. creation of new channels DMI Council (in particular "Model name" field was set to "Qosmio G10").
    2. loading the CD-ROM TCN0000006 official update tool.
    3. no recovery BIOS or EC/KBC.

    Any idea?

I m wondering how you did update the information in the DMI?
As far as I know that the Toshiba authorised service provider is able to update information DMI as the model name, version number, etc. using utilities and special tools.

I googled for the motherboard part number, you have deposited in your original thread, and it seems that this motherboard has been developed the Qosmio F15 series.
So maybe his bad card mother

  • Problem of graphics card on Satellite P20 552 & Qosmio G10

    Hallo,

    I have two 17-inch monitors computers laptop Toshiba as desktop replacement: 1 x Satellite P20 552 & 1 x Qosmio G10.
Both are dead graphics card problem.
The conclusion of my research on the WEB, it's the nVidia FX Go5700 card seems to be the weak point of these laptops.

On the Satellite Map dies slowly: during startup Toshiba logo disappeared but WinXP logo was very good load, then WinXP loaded with the screen not refreshing and the problem of synchronization, etc..
The Qosmio died suddenly: activities on the hard drive I guess load WinXP, but black screen (internal and external)!

I know that, unlike the desktop computer, the graphics processor is not a separate entity; It is built into the motherboard. My questions are:

    (1) who should be blamed, Toshiba or Nvidia?
    (2) how to prevent premature rupture of the card/motherboard?
    (3) the card/motherboard could be repaired?

    Hallo

I have red Satellite P20 304 and it still works well. Maybe you can offer this story to someone else, but I can say that Satellite P20 is great for laptop. I like it. Old, but still has an attractive design.
If you have no luck I can understand it but to talk in general and write about weakness is for me nothing more than absurd.

Nice questions here especially one. :)
1 - to blame someone will help any. Try to get the replacement and get it working again.
    2. There is nothing you can do. All you can do is to take care of the use of the laptop and do not overheat.
    3. as far as I know that something like this is not possible. In this case the motherboard will be replaced.

What you can do is to check eBay from time to time. You may be lucky and you can buy used motherboard for a good price and exchange it.

  • Qosmio G10-100 - failed afer replacement with larger HARD drive HARD drive

Following a failure in a Qosmio G10-100 HARD drive, I replaced the HD 80 GB IDE current with a 160 GB IDE drive. After execution of the recovery of the DVD, new HARD drive has been formatted and installed the software (later proved by removing the drive and treat as an exterrnal disk on another PC).

However, on booting, the machine has recognized that it was another hard drive and it wouldn't let me go beyond the screen that offers alternatives (Safe Mode, etc.), nor what would allow me access.

    Counsel gratefully received

    > After running the recovery DVD, new HARD drive has been formatted and installed the software (later proved by removing the drive and treat as an exterrnal disk on another PC).

Sorry mate but I put t understand what you did exactly
You have installed the Windows operating system on the new HARD drive by using the recovery disk. Right?
Well, the recovery procedure has completed correctly? The operating system has been successfully installed?

Did repeat the installation of the OS?
If this is not the case, repeat!

  • Qosmio G10 does not work - some graphic problems

    Hello
I have a Qosmio G10 a few years back, within the first year of its use the graphics seemed to go crazy after using it for games.
Since then, I've left the but recently I dug to see if I can get it fixed it as my partner needs.

    1. whenever I start it I have a white screen with sound (I can get the screen each time by pressing F5 (current view).
    2. I tried the system restore cd, but when it finishes I wake a fragmented Windows screen with the beginning bar all over the place, and then it just freezes
    3. However, when I try a professional XP operating system to recover (I found somewhere), it starts up no probs apart from a few blue vertical lines on the screen, starting when I get on the desktop there is no probs although res is set to low and used to move (no graphics driver). Then I tried to load the Qosmio tools & utilities and can support all but the Chipset (that quite fragmented and I have to restart the whole process) and driver nvidia Gforce graphics that I assume will not charge because the chipset?

I thought it might be a cd of defective recovery but when I changed during a hard drive of new fresh on the wrapper started everthing briefly as it should do this before, he crashed any temptation of power again.

Pulling my hair out please help!

    Hello

    > 1. Every time I start it I have a white screen with sound (I can get the screen each time by pressing F5 (current view).
Looks like the screen is positioned on the external monitor and so nothing does not appear on the internal screen laptops. Perhaps this happens because of the changed settings in the properties of the graphics card.

    > 2. I tried the system restore cd, but when it finishes I wake a fragmented Windows start with the bar start screen all over the place, and then it just freezes
Usually the laptop should start correctly after the installation of the recovery CD. If the laptop freezes then a hardware problem is possible.

    > 3. However when I try an operating system XP Professional to recover (I found somewhere), it starts up no probs apart from a few blue vertical lines on the screen, starting when I get on the desktop there is no probs although res is set to low and used to move (no graphics driver). Then I tried to load the Qosmio tools & utilities and can support all but the Chipset (that quite fragmented and I have to restart the whole process) and driver nvidia Gforce graphics that I assume will not charge because the chipset?

In my view, your graphics card could malfunction. I come to the conclusion because the laptop works ok until the graphics driver will be installed. Without graphic driver installed the laptop seems to run I think GPU dysfunction could also be the reason why the laptop does not start correctly after the installation of the recovery CD. The restore CD already contains the graphics driver that controls the graphics card chip

So in my opinion, you should contact the ASP in your country for a control of the laptop.
Maybe the technicians could find the fault.

    Good luck

    Hello

Self-monitoring analysis and Reporting Technology (or S.M.A.R.T.) is a technology that allows a PC to in some cases predict future failure storage devices. This SMART technology is present in your drive, but by default is set to off on your drive. To use the feature S.M.A.R.T. would require you a software (or BIOS) which allows and monitors the Smart status of your hard drive.

HARD disk speed is unfortunately unknown to me.

I'm sure that the TV tuner is set to Pal if you will buy it in the United Kingdom and may not be changed for NTSC.

Qosmio G10 106 has 4 x USB ports and Bluetooth is not available.

  • Vertical lines on the Qosmio G10

My Qosmio G10 have vertical lines on the screen even on monitor external it show the same problems, tried to reformat using the supplied media center disc have the same problem also, system hangs when installing the video driver, try Booting to CD bootable always vertical BACK appear, I hope that the guys at Toshiba can give us a good explanation for this really upset by this problem our company buy 3 this G10 and two of the three have this problem.

I put t know if you meet here someone of the Toshiba because this community is only a user to user forum, but I'll try to give you an opinion.
It seems that there must be something wrong on the graphics card on the map.

You don't have a lot of options... try to communicate with the service authorized in your country guys
Probably they know something more about it

  • Qosmio G10: analog video capture camcorder

    Help, please

I'm new on this forum and the Canada. I bought a Qosmio G10 earlier this year, but had only one chance to try to use it to capture and convert my tapes of videographic V8 recently with no success.

I tried Toshiba support without hope. I tried the registery for creator VinDVD patch 2, but still he does not see my video input of the camera stream. I tried the two S-video and composite inputs with no result. Anyone with a similar experience?

    I appreciate your help.

    Ministry of education

    Hello

If you use the S-video in jack so be sure that it of really a s-video-in and not OUT port.
But the most important parameter is placed in the development picture Toshiba utility.
My friend had used the Qosmio months and this utility was preinstalled on your laptop.
That I myself can remember he was placed in the folder utilities from Toshiba. Anyway, look on your operating system for this tool.

Then enter the monitor input parameters. There you should be able to define the scope settings and select the external input parameters for video, camera, game etc

    I hope I could help

  • Qosmio G10 does not start

    Hello world
I have a qosmio G10 since less than a year. It was just perfect.
But now it won't start, but I'm unable to identify the source of the problem. (I have some experience with hardware problems, but...)

When I push the Start button I have the ear of the DVD player running, the lights of the HD for a second and then the laptop seems to be turned on, but HARD drives do not seem to work (there is absolutely nothing on the screen, no boot screen at all). I am able to open the drive of DVD/burner to be able to exist even on the battery.

Someone will be kind enough to share a few tips? (The FN F5/F1 key does not help)

    Thank you

    Did you hear one beep?
This unique short beep is displayed if the device succeeded the POST (power-on-self-test) and the material is ok.
The BIOS of the motherboard will occur always a POST during the power up, usually, this test is required to ensure its correct operation of the system and if a
failure of the POST will identify the failure and emits a sound signal to ask the technician to take remedial action as soon as POSSIBLE.

In your case, it s perhaps something wrong with the display. Try to connect the external monitor to the laptop.

In addition, you can try to remove the battery and unplug the power adapter for a while.
After several time try to connect the AC adapter again and try to start the laptop.

If it doesn't help then I would really communicating with the Toshiba service partner in your country for the control of the laptop. Usually, technicians start some tests diagnostic and are able to locate the very fast fault.

  • Lack of graphics Qosmio G10

    Hi guys,.

I have a problem with my Qosmio G10 with graphics. Image on the screen is completely wrong. Pictures on the screen are distributed in different places that appear in different points of the screen. This bug begins just after power on the laptop.

For example the QOSMIO logo is shown in different points of the screen in the following mode:
In left hand side of the screen are part of M, I and O, then BONES and part of M, then to the right of the screen are Q that is cut to the two parties and the left side of the o.
All things are displayed in the same way.

Pleas help me with that, if that's possible?

    I thank in advance

    Hello

It s very sad to say but it looks like a graphics card problem!

In this case, you will need to contact the ASP in your country for assistance. I guess that the motherboard needs to be replaced because the GPU chip is fixed on the Board of Directors and cannot be eliminated in the unique setting.

I hope you ve purchased a new extended warranty because the replacement of the motherboard can be a bit expensive :(

Contact the technicians and ask for more details!

    Good luck

  • Qosmio G10-105: the screen is black

I was asked to look at a Qosmio G10-105 by a friend who claims that it functioned very well until one day "the screen went black.

It seems to start fine but there is absolutely no image on the screen with backlight, no and no image "Dim". The problem is that when I plug in an external display there is also no image at all however becomes the external display backlit, but that's all.

Can I assume that this is neither the inverter, backlight screen or I get no image on an external display?

Is it likely to be the graphics card? If so, is it replaceable or it is part of the motherboard?

    I tried 2 external displays

Any help / ideas would be appreciated...

    Thank you
    Rob

    > Is it likely to be the graphics card? If so, is it replaceable or it is part of the motherboard?
Hmm. It really looks like a graphics card problem
It was a good idea to connect the external monitor to check if the same problem would appear on the second screen that there is a simpler way to find out if this problem could be linked to the TFT screen or the graphics card.

The GPU chip set on the motherboard and in most cases (in your case too) the whole motherboard must be replaced :(

Unfortunately, but it looks like an expensive affair :(
