Qosmio G20-115: TV Tuner missing 1 or 2 channels

Hello
Our qosmio g20 tv tuner missing 1 or 2 channels, I would understand if he did not get the channel with bad reception on our normal tv, but the channel is missing is one of the clearest of cases.
I did the scan twice and still no luck.
We have come an antenna on the roof and its been verified by a proffesional person and is in perfect order.

Anyone got any ideas on how to solve this problem?

In this forum, I see many people who have problems with the reception of the G20.
I can watch all English channels, but the quality is very poor.

If you use the G20 as a desktop like me, forget the G20 tv tuner and buy a freeview box (35-40 pounds).

"I get wonderful images of a free box satellite with a satellite dish, via s-video-in port"
and also, wonderful images of a "digital terrestrial DTT box" with a normal antenna, via the "monitor-in port.

If the antenna works fine with digital transmissions that are notoriously more difficult
to receive, it would be essential to correctly receive analog transmissions and, in my case, this is true for a normal TV,
but it is not true with the G20 TV card!

Is possible that you need an adapter "SCART to RCA", depending on what output a your decoder.

I can jump a decoder / to another using the utility:

"All the programs/TOSHIBA/utilities/image Enhancement Utility.
then I click on: 'Parameter input monitor' and I can choose: "Monitor-in" or "S-video-in.

The G20 is a wonderful machine with a beautiful screen, but in my opinion, he has a weak tv card.

Good bye

    These are the cables >

    Now for my question (s):
1 which of these cables do I need? Im just trying to figure out how to get my satellite tv or digital cable to work on my laptop.
2 antenna adapter (see picture) is not for coaxial cable, what can I do?
3 I did WINDVR more due to the upgrade of vista, Media Center Gets the job done but I don't know what to do... This guide has confused me even more > http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/using/setup/settop.mspx

    Hi ismael,.
I'll try to help with that, but it's a long way to the road...
I don't know what Tv system is used to Malta (Pal)?

The best way to set up your TV's with Media Center 2005 edition.
    Cables:
Check the back of your cable TV installation box and find the composite or SVHS output. If you have only the composite, you can use the composite cable of the posted image. If your TV decoder has the SVHS, so you should use, to the better image than composite. You must obtain a SVHS cable for this.
Look for the audio output rca, too. Mix with the composite cable for the audio Qosmio.

    But you must have:
1 control cable IR, for media center 2005 configuration as well as your TV decoder. It is cable connected to the remote sensor (see fact sheet on the back).

2 sensor for your remote control and configure it with the remote control of your TV decoder. In this way, you can control the receiver cable channels, using the remote control for your Qosmio G20 media center edition.
Recovery: you can change the channels on your TV decoder using the qosmio remote control.

    3. remote control for you media Center 2005, one that came with your Qosmio g20.

Open the TV on Media Center 2005 configuration and follow all the steps required for installation.
You must follow the guide, as is explained in the image you posted:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/using/Setup/SetTop.mspx

If you have all these cables, you can use the Qosmio player to watch TV. It is not tied to windows OS.
Here, simply connect the coaxial cable and let the Qosmio player search for available channels in your area. Qosmio player has the opportunity to set the colour TV system in any part of the world. all NTSC regions in all PAL regions.
If you have the remote control for your Qosmio, TV keys will work directly with the Qosmio remote sensor on board, without needing the external sensor of Microsoft.

    I hope this helps you

  • Qosmio G20: Problems with tuner TV and Qosmio player on Linux

    Hello!

I would like to install a Debian's Linux distribution based on my machine... But it looks like there could be some problems with a TV tuner and the qosmio player.
Is there someone who could help me with a viable solution for this?

    Lasse

    Hello

Well, you need a TV tuner driver, but the problem is the LINUX operating system.
There is no drivers for Linux. Toshiba doesn't supports Linux. In addition, you will not find also all the drivers.
All you can do is to use the Windows operating system. The Knoppix and Kanonix are very nice Linux distributions. You can run these Linux from the live CD. You n t need to install anything.

  • Qosmio G20 and Windows 7

    Hello

I have an old Qosmio G20-115 that uses the RAID controller for two hard disks. I tried to install Windows 7 (RC1) and Windows Vista, but I'm still stuck at time of installation of Windows, detect hard drives. After reading the various reports from this forum and others sources on the web, I tried many times to get setup to detect the discs using drivers from various different sources, but nothing helped.

Is there something more fundamental, that I hurt myself? What RAID parameters need to be defined in the BIOS when trying to install an OS? If someone managed to get Windows 7 (RC1) working on their G20? Someone at - it pilots have tested and they managed to get Vista/Windows 7 on their G20-115 s?

For any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

When installing Win7, you must have the RAID driver on a floppy disk or USB key. Win7 Setup prompts you for a custom storage driver.

You can get the RAID for Vista driver on the Toshiba site. It should work in win7.

  • How to see the TNT on Qosmio G20-129?

    Hallo,
I am a new owner of a Qosmio G20-129 with Tuner hybrid PCI DVB-T/analog.

I plug the antenna cable and I see the analog TV.
But: how I see dvb TV?

    Thank you
    Marco Molinari

    Hello

If you use a MCE, you must set up a TV signal. Go to settings and select general
Then the MCE installation and configure the TV Signal.
But not all areas, DVB - T have been supported.

  • Qosmio G20 - update Tuner TV digital?

    Hello

I have the Qosmio G20 and unfortunately it only support analog TV. I wrote to the Japan Toshiba here and they said that it is not possible to upgrade the G20 to digital television.

It is the official manufacturer of advice, but as I know from experience, there is always another way around these things using third-party hardware and software.

Anyone have any ideas on how this could be done?

    Hello

The Qosmio G20 series was delivered with different hardware compatibility.
Some of the G20 has been delivered with a TNT antenna + analog hybrid TV Tuner and DVB - T and other G20 supports only analog TV.

Well, if your computer laptop doesn t supports digital Tv then you can try to use the tuner TNT + external.
I sure you will find plenty of m offers in the internet.

  • Downloading and installing Tuner driver - Qosmio G20

Excuse my ignorance, but I downloaded a file zip on the Toshiba site containing files for installing a tv tuner driver (date updated 11.24.05) for my Qosmio G20 - 139 (PQG21E-01500NEN). The instructions say: '... .cochez the contents of the zip file for details of installation, but I can't find/identify a file that provides instructions on how (there are a few I clicked on this offer a warning about opening files, so, being a novice in these things, I chose to not continue).

Can anyone advise me on what file contains the installation instructions, or how I should go about installing this driver?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi Eduar

I t's not done this before, but as you can see there is no any file setup.exe and install the driver on the usual way. Go to device manager, chose the device and properties you can use the option of installing the driver.

You can also start the Add Hardware Wizard.

  • TV Tuner does not work on Qosmio G20

    Hello world!

I have a problem using a TV Tuner on my Qosmio G20. I have re-installed Windows Media Center with a DVD of recovery of product, plugged the antenna and made all configurations (set up the TV signal and scan for more services), but when I press the button to watch TV it says "decoder error - the video decoder is either due to a malfunction or not installed".

You have no idea what the problem might be, and who is this video decoder? Any help should be. Thank you!

  • Qosmio G20 - How can I get the tuner to work?

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Qosmio G20. :) It has windows xp professional installed.

I can access the Qosmio Player (by pressing the tv button) while the laptop is turned off. Get a snowy picture.

I donnot have a remote control. I'm from South Africa.

If anyone can help with the following text:

-Do I need a remote to tune to a frequency of psecific?
-If no, how I tune to a specific frequency without remote?
-How to access the user interface of the Qosmio player?
-The Qosmio accessible from Windows player?
Is there a guide on how to install and use the Qosmio player? If so, please provide the download link.

    Thank you

    Hello

    How do you watch TV?
Which player Qosmio do you have?
AFAIK the Qosmio Player versions 4.3 and older do not support the DVB - T signal.

Also I m not very good if you want to be able to receive TV channels in South Africa if this Qosmio G20 was released in European countries.
The point is that the internal tuner would not receive the signals due to the different PAL/NTSC settings.

    Regarding scanning of channels:
    Please check this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=25430

In order to run the scan, you need to start the Qosmio player, press the F1 key and enter the Setup program.
Here, you can do a scan. You n t need the remote!

The other fact is that the Qosmio Player is not Windows-based applications and you cannot start if Windows. If Windows is running while you use MCE (Media Center) instead of Qosmio player.

  • Qosmio G20 - sound and drivers tv tuner (digital)

    Hi all

I recently purchased a Qosmio G20 (490ls) to the Japan and nothing else that problems have had so far.
The original operating system that came with the computer is Windows XP Home Edition (Japanese). I can't read Japanese, but I have an English version of Windows XP MCE, so I don't think it would be a problem.

I could not install it correctly so I delivered to a technician and he accidentally deleted all (OS, drivers, etc) and I don't have a recovery of the original disc.

in any case, I gave him a new technology to install and they're almost finished except they lack 2 drivers - audio driver and tv tuner driver. European drivers are analog and do not work on the Japanese version, however, it needs digital drivers.

I desperately need a "digital sound driver" and a "digital tv tuner driver", if someone could help me out or point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated =)

    Thank you

    Hello Michael

I'm very happy you're here. Maybe you can give us some very useful information. I heard that just TV tuner to the Japan from be used worldwide without restriction standard.
    Do you know something?

Maybe this is the reason why you can't set it up properly. I am sure that the driver for your device is designed only for the Japanese market and it is possible that our pilot European doesn t work properly. Check the driver of OUR download site
