Qosmio G20 - update Tuner TV digital?

Hello

I have the Qosmio G20 and unfortunately it only support analog TV. I wrote to the Japan Toshiba here and they said that it is not possible to upgrade the G20 to digital television.

It is the official manufacturer of advice, but as I know from experience, there is always another way around these things using third-party hardware and software.

Anyone have any ideas on how this could be done?

Hello

The Qosmio G20 series was delivered with different hardware compatibility.
Some of the G20 has been delivered with a TNT antenna + analog hybrid TV Tuner and DVB - T and other G20 supports only analog TV.

Well, if your computer laptop doesn t supports digital Tv then you can try to use the tuner TNT + external.
I sure you will find plenty of m offers in the internet.

    Hello
I have a G20 and have never been able to get a signal. I tried the terrestrial antenna and also my SKY box via the input RF1. Does anyone know what I might be missing?

Someone told me I might need a download from microsoft but was not sure that (they work in the PC World). I live in the United Kingdom, and although the terrestrial signal is not large, satellite should work surely. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

    Hello, Karen

As far as I know there is no need to download anything. If you want to connect your receiver to the G20, I recommend you to use composites in. On this path will be detected only one channel, and you need to change channels on the receiver.

Try to detect the right channel to the Qosmio and MCE player too.

  • Qosmio G20: update HARD drive internal

My G20 has 2 60 GB HARD drive.
I'll remove the No2 car that does not have windows for a bigger. It took me a bit to a source in the UK and I have a price of 199.99 gbp for a 120 GB drive. Does that seem reasonable for a real player Toshiba?

Due to another disk HARD 100 GB being 99.99 gbp. I don't know what to do either would drive as good as Tosh one? Also can I turn off the computer and exchange them because in my computer both drives are called Toshiba Raid.

I'm not clued up on Paolo etc any help or advice would be appreciated.
    Thank you

    Hello

The price of HARD drive depends not only on the size of the HARD drive, but also on the rotation of the disk, size of buffer.
I think that the Qosmio also supports S - ATA interface. In this case, you need a compatible SATA HARD drive.
In the user manual which must be preinstalled on your laptop, you will find instruction how to remove and install the HARD drive.

RAID uses 2 HDD. You can set it up as a mirror RAID-1 and RAID 0 stripping. When you use RAIND-1, data is stored twice so that even if there are problems with a HARD disk, the other HARD disk can be used to retrieve the data.
The additional HARD drive capacity must be equal to or greater than the capacity of the first HARD drive. Additional if you are using RAID-1 the operating system recognizes the slightest ability to drive HARD 2.
In this case, if you use a 60GB and a 120 GB OS recognizes it as 60 GB. The extra 60 GB of the second HARD disk cannot be used.

But all this s information you can find in the user manual.

    Hello

I found this Microsoft Knowledgebase document:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;555330

I don't know if it will help you to solve the problem in Italy, but you can check it out.

I also found this page that describes HDTV in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.
    It is said;
To check online what digital TV channels are available in your area, go to AntennaWeb Titan TV. The two Web sites provide tools to identify what digital TV channels are available in your area for live broadcasts.

  • Qosmio G20-115: TV Tuner missing 1 or 2 channels

    Hello
Our qosmio g20 tv tuner missing 1 or 2 channels, I would understand if he did not get the channel with bad reception on our normal tv, but the channel is missing is one of the clearest of cases.
I did the scan twice and still no luck.
We have come an antenna on the roof and its been verified by a proffesional person and is in perfect order.

Anyone got any ideas on how to solve this problem?

In this forum, I see many people who have problems with the reception of the G20.
I can watch all English channels, but the quality is very poor.

If you use the G20 as a desktop like me, forget the G20 tv tuner and buy a freeview box (35-40 pounds).

"I get wonderful images of a free box satellite with a satellite dish, via s-video-in port"
and also, wonderful images of a "digital terrestrial DTT box" with a normal antenna, via the "monitor-in port.

If the antenna works fine with digital transmissions that are notoriously more difficult
to receive, it would be essential to correctly receive analog transmissions and, in my case, this is true for a normal TV,
but it is not true with the G20 TV card!

Is possible that you need an adapter "SCART to RCA", depending on what output a your decoder.

I can jump a decoder / to another using the utility:

    "All the programs/TOSHIBA/utilities/image Enhancement Utility.
then I click on: 'Parameter input monitor' and I can choose: "Monitor-in" or "S-video-in.

The G20 is a wonderful machine with a beautiful screen, but in my opinion, he has a weak tv card.

    Good bye

  • Qosmio G20 - sound and drivers tv tuner (digital)

    Hi all

I recently purchased a Qosmio G20 (490ls) to the Japan and nothing else that problems have had so far.
The original operating system that came with the computer is Windows XP Home Edition (Japanese). I can't read Japanese, but I have an English version of Windows XP MCE, so I don't think it would be a problem.

I could not install it correctly so I delivered to a technician and he accidentally deleted all (OS, drivers, etc) and I don't have a recovery of the original disc.

in any case, I gave him a new technology to install and they're almost finished except they lack 2 drivers - audio driver and tv tuner driver. European drivers are analog and do not work on the Japanese version, however, it needs digital drivers.

I desperately need a "digital sound driver" and a "digital tv tuner driver", if someone could help me out or point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated =)

    Thank you

    Hello Michael

I'm very happy you're here. Maybe you can give us some very useful information. I heard that just TV tuner to the Japan from be used worldwide without restriction standard.
    Do you know something?

Maybe this is the reason why you can't set it up properly. I am sure that the driver for your device is designed only for the Japanese market and it is possible that our pilot European doesn t work properly. Check the driver of OUR download site

  • Downloading and installing Tuner driver - Qosmio G20

Excuse my ignorance, but I downloaded a file zip on the Toshiba site containing files for installing a tv tuner driver (date updated 11.24.05) for my Qosmio G20 - 139 (PQG21E-01500NEN). The instructions say: '... .cochez the contents of the zip file for details of installation, but I can't find/identify a file that provides instructions on how (there are a few I clicked on this offer a warning about opening files, so, being a novice in these things, I chose to not continue).

Can anyone advise me on what file contains the installation instructions, or how I should go about installing this driver?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi Eduar

I t's not done this before, but as you can see there is no any file setup.exe and install the driver on the usual way. Go to device manager, chose the device and properties you can use the option of installing the driver.

You can also start the Add Hardware Wizard.

  • Qosmio G20-139 digital TV. [TNT] Freezes

    Hi all
Just had a G20-139... and I love it! BUT having a problem with Digital Tuner. The digital picture freezes for a few seconds at a time. and sometimes, he says that he has lost the signal. However I know that the signal is good. When you look at it with my normal [TNT] tv. There is a slight delay in the image received on the G20.
The image quality on the G20 IS SUPERB.
I have the latest version of the driver [1.02.1930]. Not tried the analog photos yet...

I wonder if anyone has had the same problem and if it
    has all the answers!
It's one thing to Windows? or the processer get too high workload. ????
Everything on "MY TV" works very well and it would be fantastic if this problem could be solved.

Thanks a lot for the imformative forum.

    Hello

You are right; Qosmio G20 is portable really nice. But why are you sure that the signal is good (strong) 100%? Did you use another digital tuner to compare the signal reception?
Did you use MCE or a Qosmio Player?
Maybe the digital tuner really loses the signal.

I found a really nice article on HDTV in Windows MCE:

  • Integrated digital televisions Qosmio G20 156

    My husband has a Qosmio G20 156.
Can someone tell me if there is available on this model digital TV reception. I hope to get a USB DVB - T for father's day, but looking at the specifications, it indicates that it has integrated digital capabilities.
I am sure however if his machine didn't and then we would have already plugged!
Can someone clarify for me, as I would like it to be a surprise.

    Hello

According to the website of specification Qosmio unit was delivered with Tuner TV FREEVIEW + analogue hybrid and DVB - T antenna.
I don t know where do you live, but the fact is that you cannot receive digital signals everywhere. The signal must be strong enough to receive digital channels.

  • Qosmio G20: MCE RPG and can't find any digital TV channels

    Thank you

    Hello

Are you sure that your G20 was delivered with a DVB - T tuner and analogue TV tuner not only 100%?
As far as I know the g-20 was delivered with a different hardware configuration

But if you camera supports DVB - T tuner, so I think that digital signal is not strong enough to receive the digital channels.

If you wish, you can consult this useful document on HDTV on MCE:

  • Updated tv card Qosmio G20 105

My beloved G20-105 came with an analog TV Tuner card and I want to update card Tuner TV DVB - T.

Is it possible and simple it is to get out the old and its replacement by a new?

Also where can I get one?

    Hello

In my opinion that's not really easy I think that it s not worth trying it.
Why? Because the TV tuner module is hidden somewhere in the notebook.

You will need to disassemble the whole to get access to this module.
You also need a compatible TV tuner module and a new Board of antenna that would correspond with the layout of the motherboard Qosmio G20.

These modules are not cheap and I think an external solution like USB DVB - T stick would be much cheaper and better solution for you.

    Welcome them
