  I am new to the arena for laptop and am the proud owner of the Qosmio G20 156 fantastic.

  I was wondering what people recommend doing the first thing when you receive... in what respect the sofware & operating system; Is it a good idea to perform a clean installation of Windows and the format of the HARD drive? I'm asking this is because some laptops come with a lot of junkware? If so, it's a very simple process using the recovery discs or I just would open the Pandora's box of possible complications?

  I'm quite proficient with installing the drivers etc.

  Well, it s beautiful that you're proficient with installing the driver, but is not everything you need to know.
  This device uses a RAID technology and you will need to also install the RAID drivers, etc.
  I don t recommend to format anything or install the new OS. Toshiba programs and applications are installed on the new Qosmio because it s a laptop top of range with many features. The latest features need these applications.

  But of course it s your device and you decided what and how is running on your laptop.
  I have this case you can use the image of Toshiba and you can remove some programs from the laptop computer in Add and remove programs

  It is a simpler way.

  It is hard to believe that the Qosmio G20 may have some problems with the saving screen graphics and slower running.

  In any case try check the energy saving settings and the use of the processor to maximum power. Check also running a process in the Task Manager and stop all unnecessary processes running. Don't forget that antivir application doesn t do any disk HARD analysis in the background.

  I put t know what cables and what made the 5.1 support desktop theater DTT2200 but the Qosmio supports headphones with S/PDIF out.

  I use the headphone jack on my satellite to connect the unit to the stereo.
  I use a cable with a connector on one end and RCA connectors (red and white) 2 on the other end of the cable.
  The two connectors, I connected to HiFi and taking helmet.

  I think you can also try to use the same way to connect external speakers for the Qosmio.

  Hi, I have a Qosmio G20. "Mr Nobody" was on my laptop and removed the program for her. I tried my Windows Media Player, but all I get is that there is no material for the sound.

• Qosmio G20 - 156 issue of battery internal

  Having sent the G20 back under warranty for a revision complete, I got it back and put it away. It was not used for 2 years after checking that everything was working ok. Now when I turn it on I get a back like screen and I like the internal battery is gone!

  I didn't even know that he was one who apparently runs out after about 5 years. Is this true and if so why didn't anyone tell you on this subject. It is also apparently only accessible if you remove most of the computer - is that correct and why is it so inaccessible?

  I think you mean that the BIOS battery (also called battery CMOS).

  Usually this battery is always charged when the AC adapter is plugged in and the laptop is turned on.

  As far as I know the battery must be charged for 18 hours in order to get fully charged. Therefore, connect the power adapter and leave the laptop running for a longer period of time (6 pm). Then check if the battery would be charged.
  If not, then the technician must verify and if necessary this part needs to be replaced.

• Qosmio G20 156 - code 39 CD player driver problem

  While trying to install a new version of Norton Internet Security, the drive started making a louder than normal noise and then I was told I should I uninstall all previous anti-virus software before continuing.

  After you have uninstalled the previous version of Norton 360, (Mat * un DVD - Ram UJ-846) CD/DVD drive has stopped working.
  No CD/DVD will run; "D:\ refers to a location that is not available" and I get the error message Code 39 "Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) ».

  Have tried uninstalling the driver but after resettlement, the same error message.
  Oddly, Itunes released the error message that ITunes is not properly installed and if I want to import/burn CD, I need to reinstall the software.
  I'm really not sure whether if it is a hardware problem software.

  Card SD & dvd stopped working after I tried to update the sd driver.

  I downloaded the module sd-secure-en - 20080916100011.zip in the list of drivers for my SD card and on the execution of the installation requires a missing file * SD Secure Module.msi. *.
  Is this a fault in driver installation, or should I have this file on my PC.

  I reinstalled the cardbus driver and the DVD ram driver. but not the SD card format drivers.

  My Qosmio G20 purchased recently (105) appears to 'lose her' after a certain protohistory of the time, and I have to reboot to get it working again.

  This problem very strange s. Never heard of problems.
  Before you reinstall the operating system with the recovery CD, I recommend checking the SoundMax Control Panel. In the power management tab you will find power for audio mode settings. It should check this configuration is compliant and if necessary trying to change power mode no energy savings.
  If it doesn't work try reinstalling the audio driver.

  If this don't solve this problem, well the reinstallation of the operating system would be a good possibility.

  I could find only Win XP drivers on the European driver for this old Qosmio Toshiba page

  I am connected using the S-video cable and the sound is displayed but no sounds, the sound is still coming from the laptop.

  You can use the S-video cable with additional cinch audio cable. Then the noise should come also from the TV.

  If you want to connect to the external audio system to be able to use the headphone(S/PDIF) outlet.

  As far as I know I have everything connected correctly, but I'm only obtaining from my front left speakers and rear no where elsewhere.
