Qosmio G30 and intel SSD - Windows 7

Hi, I'm new to the forum

I have a Qosmio G30 with Windows 7 32 bit - model G30 140 31F
I bought an SSD intel 160 GB because of the promissed 250 MB/sg reading speed, because I need for video editing.
I tried in Win Xp and now Windows 7 and it gets up to 120 MB/Sg

I guess it s because of the drivers but I instal the drivers of storage can´t intel matrix any version of it. I tried a lot of them and with the compatibility mode too. It gives me an error saying I have not the minimum requirement.

I have 4 GB of RAM and 2.0 Gzs centrino duo.
I have install intel ssd toolbox and it does not recognize the intel SSD drive as a drive intel to improve the speed and other things.

Please help me to get my speed in the car because it has to be and to have the TRIM option enable in order to have the life of my unit any longer.
I also have the latest firmware in the drive.

Thank you in advance.

DANI

PD: It coul be, perhaps, if our computer is a sata 150 controller in place a 300 sata controller? I don't know if the control is one of them in any case.

Hi Gazpachete,

I put t know how you managed now installing Windows, but Qosmio G30 is equipped with a SATA150 interface... This means that you will never get the 250 MB/s read speed of the HARD drive. You will get a maximum speed of 150 MB/s theoretically, but in most cases it of also a little slower.

How did you check the current speed?
But 120 MB/s is a good speed. You should be satisfied and it s faster than each computer portable HARD drive. ;)

    Hello

I bought my HP Pavilion in 2007 and in March 2010 I bought Windows 7 (64-bit) and Intel SSD X 25 - M 80 GB Gen2. And I noticed the wire that fell off my SSD performance.

I discovered that my computer doesen't interface use S - ATA but IDE on the SSD drive because of the map associated to the hard drive of my computer (an adapter that are used to mount the S - ATA drives).

And when my SSD drive use IDE interface, then Intel SSD Toolbox doesen't use TRIM function and then on my SSD performance fell.

I read that I should change it to AHCI mode in the BIOS, but I don't find it anywhere because I don't have "' access restricted and see all the features I want to see in a normal installation of BIOS.

Is it possible to "lock" the BIOS and put the drive in AHCI mode in order for my SSD drive work faster?

Check the Device Manager, expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and see if there is an AHCI controller installed, if there is then AHCI is enabled.

  • Virtual pilot his Toshiba Qosmio G30-10 b (for Windows XP)

    Hello
There is a driver listed on page Qosmio G30 - 10B Win - XP drivers, with the following data:
09/07/07 virtual Sound Toshiba Windows XP 1.03.17 World Wide
This driver is listed only in the page drivers Win - XP, and it is not listed in the page drivers Win - XP MCE.

Anyone know what it is, and if I install it in my new Win-XP Pro dual-boot setup?

    Thanks in advance,
    THERE

    Hello

Since all versions of Windows XP are the same OS just with a few changes on the Don t software you have to worry when you install the driver.
This would work without problem because XP MCE is just an XP with some more optional microsoft software, integrated in the system.
It s like you take a XP and install a 3rd party software Media Center on this issue.

Feel free to install the driver, it should run flawlessly.

  • Should Qosmio G30-204 - I install Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit?

    Hi people,

I have a Qosmio G30-204. I've updated the RAM to 4 GB. She has Windows Vista 32 bit installed currently.

I plan on installing windows 7.
If I install Windows 7 64 bit, or it must be 32 bits?

What is the difference between 32 bit and 64 bit anyway?

    Hello

If you have upgraded laptop with 4 GB of RAM, you must install Windows 7 64 bit. On all the 32 bit OS, you can only use ~3.2GB reason for the limitation of the 32 bits.

That's also the difference between 32 and 64 bits, the size of RAM supported. ;)

  • Qosmio G30-223 - utilities for Windows 7 64 bit

Are utilities such as 'Added value Package' or 'Config Free' running Windows 7 64 bit? They are given by Toshiba only download for Windows 7 32 bit.
    My Qosmio G30-223 computer

I was told that almost all software is running on Windows 7 64 bit. It's Ok as well to these utilities?
And if so, why not mentioned by Toshiba?

    Hello

You can try utilities for Windows 7 64 bit, but I doubt that they will work. Utilities are designed for OS 32 bit and no 64 bit OS.

In your case, I would check the Web from Toshiba site for 64-bit tools. For example, if you are looking for the Qosmio G50 and Windows 7 64-bit, you get the utilities they should work on your Qosmio also.

    Check this box!

My Qosmio G30 is already dead, I got an estimate from the official service, to repair my qosmio costs nearly 600 pounds. Is a design flaw. Go on the internet.

    Interesting links! Thank you.
I have to say then I must be lucky. My Qosmio G30 (German model) works well and without any problems

  • Problems of Qosmio G30 and vga/pcb

My Qosmio G30 has developed a problem of vga/pcb.
Toshiba engineers tell me the vga/pcb is damaged and must be replaced, but since it is integrated the entire motherboard must be replaced.
It costs nearly half of the cost of the original machine and a lot more than many new laptops from Toshiba.

Anyone have the same problem or meet someone have any suggestions.

    Hello Stafford

What to say? Perhaps you have simply a lack of luck with your laptop Qosmio. The fact is that the Qosmio is one of the most expencive Toshiba laptops and spare parts are pretty expensive.

Talk with a few different FSA in your country. Maybe you can do something to repair as a warranty issue.

  • W520 and Intel SSD 520 external casing replacement?

I decided to upgrade my W520 the Intel SSD 320 to 520 SSD Intel.  I tried the 520 in an enclosed and theW520 does not recognize the drive.  I am trying to determine if the problem is the controller in the external case Thermaltake BlacX or was it simply the problem of having the drive in an external enclosure? (In other words, it would work in a different case).  I got an OCZ Vertex 3 that would work not in external enclosures, so I'm inclined to think this is the Forum as being both the Vertex 3 and Intel 520 uses SandForce controllers.

Suport of Lenovo, I called and they told me that the only way I can copy the disc's to buy their Ultrabay III of A 0, 65623 adapter and copy the disks inside the machine.  I use older software of Casper and I don't think he would have Renesas USB 3 drivers, if I boot from a CD and trying to copy my old hard drive backup.

Obviously people do that.  And, if the Ultrabay III adapters are not available at this time, they must do without them.

How can I copy my data from the old drive to the new drive?

    Thank you!

  • Qosmio G30 - white lines on the screen and BSOD

    1. I have a Qosmio G30
2 operating system Windows XP MCE
and I have problem "white lines on the screen ' when windows start to load after that I got the"blue screen of death"and restart the computer.
I try to get back, but unfortunately came with the laptop recovery CD doesn't seem to work...

Whenever I finished to recover I have "windows loading files" and once this is done, it shows me the so-called "blue screen of death"...

    Hello

I m afraid. I have bad news for you ;(
I think you ve you have a problem with the hardware in my eyes, there might be something wrong with the GPU chip.
The white lines on the screen could be related to a faulty graphics card and get the BSOD error due to a hardware malfunction or software serious questions

I m sure that the recovery CD does not contain software problems and therefore only the fault of hardware could be the reason for the lines on the screen and the BSOD.

In my opinion, you should contact the ASP in your country for assistance if all goes well you guarantee is valid.

    Good luck

  • Qosmio G30 - fan was blasting and evil

Yesterday when I got home I started my Qosmio G30 and I think that the fan was blasting and struggling to be honest, although I only realize that afrer do some reading this morning. In any case, I have used the PC for about an hour and then left running with 1 application running while I went out.

Back a few hours later, the laptop didn't stop it yourself, but there are two generic boxes that had arisen indicating to stop the laptop and return it for service.

By the sounds of it the fan had stopped working together and the computer has been deadly quiet. I restarted and still once the fan wasn't working at all, and even if the laptop loaded in windows, I immediately stopped him again.

I am afraid that the laptop has not closed itself down when the fan is not, and if she has not done this, any damage likely to be caused, even if he did load in windows?

Looks like fans have a great generation to the top of the dust or the fan has failed.

Send the laptop to an ASP, they can check the fans and remove dust for you.

  • Qosmio G30-176: BSOD when installing Windows Vista Edition full

I have my wisdom(??!!) I bought a Toshiba Qosmio g30-176 with preinstalled Windows XP MCE 2005. The plan was to install Windows Vista Ultimate on drive D: (do the dual machine boot XP & Vista). I've updated the BIOS today on the Toshiba site and I ran Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor.

I started the upgrade of Vista (custom) and installed the Toshiba RAID drive C: Qosmio (driver C:\toolscd\raid) driver. Installation starts copying the files from the Vista installation disc. This completes OK.

The upgrade then continues to "unpack"(?) ". files - part way through this restarting of the o/s.
To restart the Qosmio stop with the blue screen of death and the "SESSION3_INITIALIZATION_FAILED" message "STOP: 0x0000006f (0xC000009D, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000).

    What is the error?
What should I do to fix it?
    Thanks - Alan E

    Hello

You perform an upgrade or a new installation of OS?
If you have tired to upgrade XP to Vista you must first remove some utilities Toshiba XP because some XP tools are not compatible with the new Vista operating system

  • Qosmio G30-204 - no sound after upgrading to Windows 7

    Hello
I have a Qosmio G30 204, I installed Windows 7 Ultimate edition but I have no sound. I feel that she has a Sigmatel chipset onboard as a Codec has been installed.

Can anyone provide a link to some drivers who can actually work.

    Thank you very much
    H.

    Hello

You must visit the Toshiba Support Site.

Once there, you click on "Support", then "Download Drivers".

Specify in the drop-down list what brand/model of laptop you have and the operating system.

It will come with a large list of drivers for your laptop.

Find audio and download and run.

    I hope this helps.

  • Cannot start windows on Qosmio G30

    Hello

I have a Qosmio G30 and I can't start windows XP MCE. When I start the computer, I see first is the screen "Qosmio" and there is no problem but when Windows starts, I see the logo and the background is filled with white dots. After that, windows logo disappears and the lines is still there. Finally, the screen goes black.

I formatted the computer and reinstalled windows, everything worked fine until I rebooted. Unfortunately, the problem is still there.

I can connect to windows if I hit F5 when booting up and then choose "safe mode".

    What can I do?

    Hello

Have you installed the operating system from the recovery CD delivered?
I asked because it sounds a little like a graphics card or graphics driver problem.

    > I can connect to windows if I hit F5 when booting up and then choose "safe mode".
This is possible because the graphics driver is not loaded in windows safe mode and OS uses the common Microsoft driver.

I would recommend the boot safe mode and then delete the preinstalled graphical driver.
The new driver can be downloaded from the page of tosh.

But if this procedure doesn't help and the strange lines appear again, I guess that the malfunctioning of the graphics chip
In this case the laptop must be checked by a technician

  • Qosmio G30 - how to upgrade the BIOS?

    Hi vip78!

I agree with Akuma but another question: why you want to update the BIOS? As you already wrote this update is a bit risky and that s right so this update should only be done if you can see a few problems with the laptop. Otherwise I wouldn t do an update of the BIOS.

Maybe there is another solution for your problem ;)
