  • Qosmio G40 - no sound on HDMI

I can't get sound on my LCD TV connected with cable HDMI with my Qosmio G40. Help please.

    Hello

I found a very interesting document from Toshiba which provides a step by step instruction how connect a Qosmio G30 to a TV using the HDMI port and why there is no audio over HDMI on Qosmio G30 under Vista.

[No audio over HDMI on Qosmio G30 under Vista. | http://APS2.Toshiba-tro.de/KB0/FAQ7A01ZU0005R01.htm]

    _The paper said: _

    (1) open the "Control Panel" to click 'Start'-> 'Settings'-> 'Control Panel '.
    2) click on 'Hardware & Sound.
    (3) left-click on "his".
    (4) a window appears where you can select the playback device. Left click on 'device of digital output (S/PDIF).
    (5) after selecting the digital output, click on 'Set as default', then 'apply '.
    (6) now the signal must be properly transferred correctly to HDMI.

    Check this box:
    1. fix a television for the Qosmio G40 HDMI while both units are State in a "powered off the coast.
    2. turn first on television and then the Qosmio G40.

_Notes on the HDMI connection: _

-Not all TVs equipped with a HDMI input port have been tested for compatibility with the computer. Therefore, does not guarantee that the HD DVD-video content can be displayed on any TV with an HDMI input port. Contents of the DVD - video HD may not display correctly on some TVs.
-Qosmio G40 should automatically detect the HDMI connection and video output can be seen via HDMI to the TV.

    Hi mate

    Please take a look here:

The thread is on the same theme.
It seems that this is not a full version but only an update.
You will need to install the HD for Vista drive and then update Windows 7

  • Qosmio G40-108: bad quality video/DVD playback

I have new Qosmio G40 108 loaded with Vista Ultimate and am very disappointed with the quality of video/DVD playback compared to the older machines loaded with XP. Seems insipid depth bland, not really the color and not too strong. I tried another laptop of another manufacturer and pretty much the same thing!

What is Vista's fault? You want to try XP but blocks me when I boot with XP disc in. I would like to run the two to see if there is a difference. (Sorry to all if this appears as message repeated hurry but bad touches earlier - starting!)

I don't have a notebook, G40 but I use the Vista OS and I must say that the video and the quality of the DVDs is great!
Don't know what DVD software you use, but I use the WinDVD and Windows Media Player. Two applications provide the same quality.

    > I tried another laptop of another manufacturer and pretty much the same thing!
According to your own statement I don't think that there is something wrong with the Qosmio G40 laptop because you have the same opinion on the other non-toshiba computer.

PS; I wonder why you start always different threads on the same topic:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums//message.jspa?MessageID=107067#107067

However, if you wish, you can test the XP if the same phenomenon occurs with other OS.

  • No output from HD on HDMI out port on Qosmio G40

I read the DVD HD guide of my Qosmio G40 "only the computer display panel supports display with treatment high definition. When playback on a TV connected to the computer, the screen on television will be only ordinay screen and not display with high definition treatment. ».

I don't know if I understand the manual right. He says that I can't view HD DVD HD videos on a TV even if it is connected with HDMI output port? If this is really the case, where HD to HDMI?

I am very disappointed in this respect. Or I don't interpred bad manual?

    Hello

I think you have misunderstood something.
If you will connect Full-HD TV via a HDMI cable to the laptop, you should be able to watch HD-DVD in HD movies.

But due to technical limitations, HD-DVD can only be looked at on a device at the same time. To read HD - DVD on both devices at the same time is not supported.

Because of the important data stream when a HD-DVD is read, the machine can manage only a HD signal. If two devices have been accessed at the same time, the machine must manage two signals HD, which is not supported due to the technical limitations of the machine itself.

Therefore, it is possible view a HD-DVD on a single device at the same time. This restriction is valid only for the HD-DVD playback. The normal clone mode is not affected.

So you can choose between the laptop or TV, but not the two screens together

  • Qosmio G40 does not recognize CD/DVD

Qosmio G40 does not recognize CD/DVD, or sometimes it reads some DVD or CD. But it does not burn.
Once I managed to burn, but could not be able to read the CD.

All the world is facing this problem?
    What would be your suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

    This isn't a real problem.
These problems can occur using incompatible media or not fully supported.
I had this problem too. You wouldn't believe how many CD or DVD I used to know what media would be fine.

Finally I went to TDK's and for a long time I m really satisfied.

By the way; User manual you should provide some useful details on the compatible media. Check also.

  • Automatic stop when you use the CD/DVD on the 1900-803 Satellite player

Ive had problems with my 1900-803 for the last 3 months. whenever I use the cd/dvd drive, my laptop turns off without warning after 15-20 minutes. It also stops if I try and play all the video files or scan my hard drive for viruses or spyware. is it because of overheating or any problem with drive

    Hello

I don t think that the player is responsible for the unexpected shutdown.
In my opinion it s an overheating problem.
Well, there could be several reasons for overheating problems, but usually dirt and dust inside the laptop is mainly responsible for overheating problems.
I recommend to check the cooling modules if they can work properly and then try to clean.
I use the vacuum cleaner to clean the fans on my laptop. Check this possibility.

  • Try to connect my Sony PVR/DTT player to my Qosmio G40

I'm trying to connect my Sony PVR/DTT player to my Qosmio G40 laptop via windows media player.
Once I have a picture on the S-Vidoe option in the set up TV signal and select next it say s it can not find the IR control cable and does not allow me to complete the whole upward.

What looks like the cable and where can I get a?. Thanks for your help.

Do you mean the control cable infrared?
AFAIK the G40 comes with different parts.
One of the parties should be the infrared emitter cable.

    It should looks like this:
    [transmitter infrared cable. | http://cache3.smarthome.com/images/8170s_n.jpg]

It is necessary if the decoders are no longer responds to IR commands sent from Media Center or if the laptop running MCE does not support the IR transmitter.

  • HDMI output on Qosmio G40 - horizontal line on the screen

I connect my Qosmio G40 to an 46F86BDX of Samsung LCD via HDMI. On all my films, when there is a shift, I see a horizontal line on the screen. Sometimes is in the middle of the screen, sometimes lower.

I tried my pc with another TV and a different cable, but the same problem. Someone knows the same thing?

    Thanx

    Hello

    > On all my films, when there is a shift, I see a horizontal line on the screen.

If I understand issue you this horizontal line appears ONLY on and external TV and ONLY if there is some faster movements of the pic.

If so, then I think it has nothing to do with G40 Notepad.
I have read that those issues could be related to the new TVs LCD then to watch movies in high definition.

I think you should read a few tests and reports on similar issues on LCD TVs

    See you soon

  • Qosmio G40 - 10F: cannot use IRDA

I recently received this Qosmio G40 - 10F and I read on the specifications for its IR. But infrared devices such as the transfer of my phone to the laptop does not work. There is no such IRDA device on Device Manager to activate. So I got the idea that I could check on the bios.
But I do not have the bios boot.
It is usually used to be the DELETE key on my computer but when I boot on the laptop, it does not indicate any key to boot to the bios.

I would appreciate if I could get help at the start of the BIOS or set the IRDA settings on.
    Thanx

I agree, esc should do the trick. :)

  • Qosmio G40 - 10Z: Question on the use of energy in sleepmode

When I turn my new Qosmio G40 - 10Z in sleep mode, with a full battery (and AC power off), I can't start the next computer. I can only start it up after connecting to power alternative. I get a windows message that Vista has not been closed properly and I wonder to start in safe mode or normal mode.

After starting the battery shows only 2% of the power. So, what is using power in sleep mode? Why is it not the way "sleep" not transferred into the State of hibernation when the battery is almost empty?
(New workbook, only vista and installed office and TV antenna is connected)

    > Ok, energy consumption in sleep mode is a problem: it takes about 20 hours before the battery is empty: is it a normal use of power in sleep mode?

Well, it s nothing unusual that the battery loses power while the laptop is in hibernation or standby.
If the WOL option (wake up on LAN) is enabled in the BIOS the LAN card use battery power all the time long.

    For more information, check this:
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB6B01N50013R01.htm

Regarding the sleep mode to crash: trying to upgrade Vista to the last State.
Go to the Microsoft page and download all the patches and fixes!
In addition, check if the BIOS update is available.
If so, try to update the BIOS, but be careful. The bad BIOS or bad update may damage the jury!

  • Qosmio G40-108-dvd/video playback quality

You just bought the Qosmio G40 - 108 loaded with Vista Ultimate. EAD all reports and went for the superb view report. I am very disappointed by the quality of playback on DVD and avi (divX, Xvid, h264). The colors are bland bland and not all that sharp.

Compared to my Toshiba 3 year, mid-range machine running Windows XP Home edition, it is pretty poor. I did not test anything.

Am I missing something or is it the fault of Vista. I tried to load Windows XP Home edition, but could not because it came with the message "blocked" since WXP is a downgrade. Can anyone help? Please, I beg you.
