Question about a system restore?

It is a bit of a long story, but I think I want to do a system restore. I help a lady with her computer, and I think we have uninstalled some programs or something that has to do with the Agency because whenever we try to save a document and then open to the top it says the file is not a valid Win32 application. The only way to open the document is to go into Office or Excel 2010, click on 'File', then open it up there under "recent." My thought is to make a system before we restore have uninstalled items. Do you think it will work? Everything that we have uninstalled will return? In addition, if she has made changes to the documents since we uninstalled programs changes will be gone once we go to the previous date in the system restore? Thanks for your help!

Hello

It may work or uninstall/reinstall Office as you say that you think that you have uninstalled parts of the office.

"Ever wish you can go back in time following a bad fall? With Windows, you can.

Installation sometimes a driver or a program can make Windows run slowly or erratically. System Restore can return programs and system files from your PC to a time where everything worked, potentially prevent hours of troubleshooting of headaches. This will not affect your documents, images or other data. »

But after reading the tips from Microsoft, you should always have a backup of your files, that there is no guarantee given with the computer.

See you soon.

  • About the system restore

I used to install programs in the D drive.
Suppose I have install a program of 'X' in the D drive, while it is not working properly. So I decided to restore my system. According to my knowledge, System Restore will not affect drive D. When that will happen? Will be the program system files remove this 'X' of the D drive.
What should I do to remove this 'X' programs completely? I have to find the program files manually and delete or what? Please answer me...

Restore points are generally stored on the C drive (unless the D drive is the default or something else on different machines), so if something does not work to the point where it is with the program itself, then the program is more likely to be affected.

Section of the control panel uninstall programs should work with the program very well, because the installer must have updated the location of all the program files in a folder, the registry entry, no matter what the program uses.

It should appear as disk 0

This is for the Windows recovery environment (WinRE), also supplied with Windows Vista, only it has been available from the Windows Vista installation disc only, although some manufacturers make available on a partition separated on their factory facilities. In Windows 7, this feature is installed on all computers and is stored in the 200 MB partition if you are installing using a single partition scheme. However, if you are installing to a drive that has more than one partition, the recovery environment is stored in a folder at the root of your installation disc, so if you install to a partition with a label of C:\ she will be C:\Recovery.

  • A question about the system audio dv7 - 4198ca.

    Hello

I bought my HP Pavilion dv7 - 4198ca computer laptop yesterday, and after playing some mp3s on it, I started to suspect that the subwoofer is not working. This laptop is a HP Triple Bass Reflex Subwoofer, but I can't locate in Device Manager, or control panel Audio Beats. How am I supposed to access the subwoofers?

Also, I downloaded the latest drivers, but I still can't find the subwoofers.

    Thanks in advance.

You can try one of two things...

    (1) play with the acute setting in the sound-> properties of speaker-> tone and check... below is a screenshot of what I'm talking about...

    (2) change the equalizer setting in the HP Beat Audio Control Panel... Will launch it, select start - > Control Panel-> hardware and sound - > HP Beats Audio Control Panel

  • How can I increase the recovery of Windows system restore drive 7?

I have windows 7 ultimate and I read someone's question on the increase in the recovery of the system and I was wondering how to find it on my laptop and desktop? Because if I can and have better if restore points I ever need to go back which would help in the right now with my laptop, that my restore points back only 7 days. Which is weird, this laptop has been used longer than 7 days and I for 2 days.

And it is the same for windows 7 Home premium? So I could show my father and my brother as well :)
    Thanks Cortana :)

System Restore saves as many restore points as he shared.  When the allocated space fills, more older restore points are deleted to make room for the new.

Although SR in Windows 7 is much better than XP, I would always go back much more than a week.  Windows 7 warn you: on the first screen of the system restore, you will notice a link that says "search for affected programs.  Click here to get an idea of what problems might arise if you go ahead with the restoration.

Also, the list of restore points that shows initially cannot be completed.  Check the box "Show more restore points" to see the rest of them.

Here's how to adjust the space allocated to the restoration of the system (all Win 7 versions): http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/how-much-disk-space-does-system-restore-require

Here are answers to some common questions about the system restore.

Remember, the system restore saves its restore points on the same drive that is "protection". If this disc fails, both your system AND your backup disappeared.  Best practice would be to save the backups on an external support.

If you want to stay with built-in tools, see, for example:

  • Missing system restore points

Take a look at my system restore points, I found that it was not. There is no reason I know for it - system restore has been on, but being created no restore points - I turned it off and then new and now that it will create restore again points.

Something happened to me I was had been looking at some dodgy sites "make money on the web easily" just out of curiosity. Anyone know of any malicious dishes that destroys the restore points. It would be a sneaky way to stop the removal of spyware.

Also I noticed some automatic update of Microsoft had just completed installation - would this have deleted restore points? From what I read the auto create restore points updates not remove them.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Hello

    I found this info:

If there is no free disk space on the monitored system drive or on any of the available non-system drives, System Restore purges restore systematically points in all monitored partitions to free disk space. If the free disk space falls below 50 MB on any monitored partition, System Restore will stop watch and suspend.
Note: Some users have reported that using the Real Player One has been deleted and restore points. Please check your log to the system event viewer for events to restore the system to a volume error event.

But these are questions of Microsoft and if you want to learn more about these issues with the tool to restore the system you must check this information from Microsoft site:

  • system not recognize fonts after system restore

my system crashed and had to do a full system restore. I had 4 great programs that I use in my business (graphic arts) and 100 of fonts that all recognized. I used "navigator of police" to ensure that I had only 4 or 5 fonts loaded at once, but as already said 'ALL' my fonts were recognized and actually loaded 2 times (because my list of fonts was extreemly long in all programs on my system, i.e. of photoshop, sony vegas, Word, Fireworks, etc.).

Back to the problem, when reinstall programs on my system, I started to do the msg of error indicating that my registry was too full and reduce the amount of fonts in my registry. Huh???????????? What this means and why can I not load fonts in the system as they were only 72 hours ago?

Help! I have a wedding program for design and cannot access my fonts!

What was the FULL and EXACT error message?  I've never seen an error message saying the registry was too full before - and the fonts are not actually stored - they are in the Directory Windows/Fonts (although some that are used can be there).  If you have done a system restore complelte (which I assume you mean own installation) all fonts you added would have been removed in the process and you would only have the fonts that come with Vista.  You will need to re - install fonts as well as the registrywould have been recreated with the fonts folder.  If you are talking about a system restore then you only needed to reinstall all the programs installed between now and the restore point - not all of them.  I'm a bit confused.

You have more than the original set of fonts in the fonts directory by chance - check if it contains only those that come with Vista or that you have since re-installed.  If you have done a system restore and a recovery system, they should stilll be there and nothing should change.

Please explain exactly what you were doing and answering other questions above in your response.  You have now or have you ever used any product of Registry Booster, cleaner or Fixer?

    Thanks and good luck!

  • How can I recover the files and programs before a system restore? my document folders are all empty and my programs will not open!

How can I recover the files and programs before a system restore?  my document folders are all empty and my programs will not open!

I know they are there and hidden somewhere, but this restoration took my settings of the computer to 2004! We lost all our data, our software that we use to operate our company at home, our quickbooks that has all our financial data, family photos, videos, Outlook will work not so no e-mail, all turned in time and 6 years ' worth of documents have disappeared.

What happeneded was that I was trying to upgrade to quickbooks software when I got an error, I cancelled out of the facility, then restarted and that's when I got an error hal.dll something? I thought about a system restore would allow me to go back in time to just before when the error occurred, but he basically took my computer back to factory settings, so all the programs that I installed and paid hundreds of dollars for the past six years has disappeared, Microsoft Office and very expensive construction estimating software that we wil have to pay once AGAIN for If I can't get this program working properly.

    I am a fool! I can't believe what's happening.

Someone at - it instructions on how I can retrieve either the programs and data that I need specifically or how to go and seek shade from the files I read online on and restore my computer for about 12 hours ago?

    Thank you all!

    Sally in Georgia

Looks like you did a system rather than a system restore recovery.  If you have inserted a disc supplied with your machine and booted from it, you probably erased the disc and installed the original operating system provided with your computer.  Usually, a step in this recovery is to do a full format or quick of your drive.  If you did a full format, your data is permanently lost.  With a quick format, your data may still be there, somewhere but inaccessible by normal means.  Applications must generally be installed, in order to recover the files probably will not help unless you have the original installation media.  Your other data files (images, videos, financial data) may be salvageable, but at this point, it would be advisable to take your computer or your disk to a business/professional who is experienced with data disc recovery.  It will be cheap and there is no guarantee.

Impatient, remember investigate you a backup strategy for your computer and critical data.  Hard drives can go wrong with little or no warning.

  • Failure of system restore,

I had to reformat the CD four times now and every time that system restore works until I have a problem, and then he goes through the motions but appears as an unspecified error and no changes have been made. I tried it at the command prompt, but should not be the order. Restore Dell PC also fails to work when I do Ctrl F11. This has happened other times as well. The computer is working reasonably well, there is just something weird is going on with the modem and internet connection I thought about a system restore can fix. .. JED Stuart
