Question about to reinstall vista with a separate partition.

Hello. I think I know the answer to that, but I wanted to check. If I create a separate partition to back up all my files, and then I restore the computer to the original factory condition, it will not erase this partition that I created, right? Thank you

Using the HP Recovery Manager disks or recovery, it will erase the data and the partition.

  • Upgraded to WIN 7 can reinstall vista with a new product key the use of dual boot even reinstall disk and computer

OK, so I've upgraded windows vista to windows 7 and now I want to reinstall vista as a dual boot. I understand that my vista OEM license is now linked to the 7 upgrade, but if I buy a new vista product key can I still use the vista reinstallation disc came with my Dell laptop. I do not know because the drive is a Dell reinstall the drive, but it is on the same computer. The disk is bound to the OEM key or a different key will activate again with her.

Dell drive is related to the OEM license and, normally, the motherboard.

If you want to dual-boot, you will need to buy a separate FULL Vista / / license-product disk key.

But I don't have an installation CD, there at - it another way to reinstall my Windows

    Hello

Here are the different ways to reinstall Vista

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

    Hello

you don't say that it is an oem license that is preinstalled in acer, hp etc or a retail license

If a retail vista license you bought yourself, you can modify any material you want

If it was a vista preinstalled oem license:

as long as you have the original motherboard installed, which should be ok

but as you changed the graphics card, you may be asked to make a reactivation

    in this case, read this:

  • 2 questions about "redevelopment" from Vista to XP

Someone I was talking about how much better my laptop worked when I "upgraded" from Vista home to XP Pro, and they wanted to do the same to theirs.
They had licensed XP Home on a thumbnail for a computer with power poor diet (or the motherboard, I'm not sure) that they elected to replace rather than repair it some time ago.

The person in question is not very computer, they asked me to proceed with the installation. When I reviewed the system, I found that the computer had a partition unused, called 'data '. The person think that the D drive was reserved for the CD, similar to the way that the reader appears sometimes on facilities without disks in older versions of Windows.

I'm not 100% sure you have the correct drivers for the NETWORK adapter (is it still called CARD of Network Interface when based and integrated?), so I'm going to install it as a dual boot in order to obtain all the necessary drivers. I found the instructions to do this, but as Vista is installed on the first partition, I have trouble if I choose to delete the VIsta partition after that XP, I get up and running because of the MBR and the boot loader? I remember that you can install on one partition other than the one with Windows NT-based, so what would be the correct way to remove the first partition Vista, once I have XP properly put in place?

Also, I think remember me something about the version of XP OEM (whatever it is) is illegal to install on another computer without count than the one for which it was purchased. Is this true? Have activation and WGA problems if I use this key?

Do you want to say that for these particular brands, and you mean by 'not turn on' the Windows Activation that disables Windows after 30 days, correct?

Well Yes. . Because if its a HP / Dell / Toshiba, Acer, the key will be in the restore cd / DVD (when install you it). And he'll know the diff, since the key is based on the model of the brand / and material. And if install you it on another system of your habit of material corresponding to the material to these portable computers or desktop computers

If you mean the license and the legality about it, so I'll tell him it's not legal, and he needs a copy that is not an OEM version.

Even if she was not preinstalled (on a laptop / desktop), it applies also to the OEM versions you buy.

It MUST only be installed on a system. You may be able to install it on other computers, BUT if you can activate it is another matter. If you can't, you will have 30 days to activate

  • Question about particular processor working with my PC.

Basically, I have a 1200-07w eMachines and I'm sure that a particular processor will work with my pc but I wanted to check before I bought it. The I am wanting to upgrade to the processor is an AMD Athlon 64 X 2-5050. I know Athlon X 2 works, but I wanted to make sure that the Athlon 64 X 2 is compatible as well.

    Thank you

It would be better to check with eMachines Support technique http://emachines.com/support/options.html where they know their systems better than we do and should be able to answer your question.  We have no information on what components go into what systems so we can really help you.  The best that we can do is refer you to the center of Vista compatibility where this component may or may not be listed:http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-vista/ (I checked but couldn't find) but that would be only you say about compatibility with your version of Vista (if it is listed) - not if it will work with your machine - and you should take note that using the wrong processor can cause damage to both it and the motherboard and other features as well - so maybe SOME before you install.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Error 1002 when about to reinstall Vista to new drive hard-pavilion dv9500

    Hey there,

First of all, a bit of background:

    • The computer (HP Pavilion dv9500 17 ") is about 4-5 years.  The warranty expired in 2010.
    • He was sent to HP before (about 2 1/2 years) within the warranty for a faulty NVIDIA card fried its motherboard and working perfectly, given that these parts have been replaced.
    • But lately, some of my files are missing and my computer starts on hibernate on its own and stops unexpectedly.  About two weeks, the hard disk provided with the system (a WD 3200BEVT Scorpio Blue SATA 2.5) began to collide and click on erratic and has not, showing me the 'Operating System' not found error from the start.  I have no reason to believe that this was due to anything other than a hard to die.
    • About three days ago I was able to start upward into the operating system, temporarily, in which I created a set of successful recovery discs using the Manager.  The version of Windows in question is Vista Home Premium 64-bit.  The machine is labeled as Windows 7 compatible.

I bought a hard drive from Amazon, a 5000BPVT WD Scorpio Blue SATA 2.5 and replaced the dead with her.  In the BIOS, the hard drive does not read for errors when pass the diagnostic test.  However, when you run System Recovery Manager, I came across the error 1002 when it is on the third and final drive and getting ready to write to the hard disk.

Now, when I try to retry it, the computer starts and after the F - key option screen it is just blank with a flashing cursor.

From what I've been able to find on the site to other situations similar to mine, I seem to have several possibilities as to why it went wrong.

    • Either my recovery disks are bad because the hard disk on which the recovery partition was conducting at the time of their creation was bad,
    • The recovery discs were bad anyway because the recovery on the partition information has expired long ago,
    • My new hard drive isn't called a DMI utility that is in conflict with its compatibility with my machine, although it is otherwise compatible.
    • Or maybe my computer is old and fecacked and there is nothing that can be done.

As previously mentioned, I'm no longer under warranty.  I've already spent money that I don't have on the new hard drive and now I'm worrying that it was for nothing.  I'm just curious if anyone, having heard my specific situation, can determine the question so I can get my class there.  If it's a question of having to order a new recovery discs, I think I can handle this.  Indeed, if a clean install of Windows would do, my friend has offered me his extra copy of Windows 7 because it turned out she didn't need her.

But if it is this exclusive utility, well, I can't afford the cost for sending to be tattooed out of warranty, and at that time, the question is whether it's just better put into place for a new machine.  Which is a shame because I was really hoping it would last me at least until I have been done with the junior school.  As you can imagine, not having no not my computer heavily paralyzed my ability to handle the six classes and work part-time in the heat of the season of final exams.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Model hard drive is a drive of 'Advanced' Format, you must return it and buying a hard drive that is not the type of advanced format, then recovery should complete without error.

  • Reinstall Vista with recovery DVDs

    Hello

I don't have much experience with things... But here's my story:

My sister (Satellite L300 10 q) laptop was running very slow after 2 years of use. Then she tried to reinstall everything to factory settings...
So we did a recovery DVDs with the Toshiba Recovery DVD tool, we started the computer with the disk in it... but nothing happened...

Someone said to start and go to start settings and select CD/DVD to start and so we did.
After that a progress of the installation came...
We had to choose a language and click Next and the system warned us that everything would be removed...
This is no problem, because it has saved his important files on an external hard drive.

After this progress of the entire installation, systems tried restarting, a blue screen came and if it restarts again and again... If we chose not to scan, it kept going on blue screen and reboot...

    We are really powerless...
What has gone wrong? And what can we do about it?

    Thank you

    Very interesting, I must say.

Thanks for sharing this information with us! :)

  • Question about changing from Vista to XP on Satellite A200

    Hello

5 months ago, I bought a laptop Satellite A200 - 1 M 5, but I face some strange and annoying inconsistencies such as blue screen after startup, inconsistencies with several programs or devices, unique discoveries registry keys, problem with microsoft register server, Mp telemetry and other inexplicable things that make you angry. In addition, Vista are so heavy for 'only' 1024 MB of memory.

For all the foregoing, I thought strongly to change my operating system from Vista to XP clearer and more coherent. However, I have no idea if the machine will cooperate very well with XP. Nothing will work properly? Incompatibility? Someone told me that, perhaps, the case of Toshiba flash cards will not work. But, if so, how can I manipulate for example brightness? Combination of FN will work?

Thanks in advance for the help

I think that your machine should work well with Windows XP Home edition. Many people use Windows XP Home edition on the mobile phones of Satellite or Equium A200 new and different. Before you start to do the BIOS update to the version of Windows XP designed home. It must be 5. XX. Check it out!

For the installation of WXP use CD Windows XP SP2 home edition installations. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com for assistance

BTW: before you start checking some threads here about installation of WXP A200 laptop. You can find a lot of useful things.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Satellite A350 - Question about RAM and Vista 32 bit - 64 bit

I bought a Satellite A350 Tiger Direct. He moved with Windows Vista 32 bit.
It is capable in my view up to 8 GB of Ram. Vista 32 bit does support 3.

All reviews on this laptop online say that it came with 64-bit and 400 GB of memory.
Mine came with only 230 GB of memory and 32 bit vista. I ran Belarc advisor, and he tells me that my computer is 64-bit ready.

Is this true? Why is - this me came not with Vista 64 bit?
I want to upgrade my ram but with 32 bits, which is not possible and according to Microsoft you cannot update 32-bit to 64-bit.
So should I buy Vista 64-bit upgrade? (for around 300 euros!). Is this in any way about this?

What are my options? I want 4 GB of Ram or more really bad...

What Satellite A350 do you have exactly?

    AFAIK the most recent series of Toshiba laptop pre-installed a dual operating system;
In this case, you can choose between Vista 32-bit or 64-bit.

To obtain the 64-bit, you will need to restart the laptop and have to press F8.
Here you must choose the option to fix my computer. Then select Toshiba HDD recovery and finally, you should see the option which would be you can toggle between the 32 and 64 bit.

Usually the Vista 32 bit supports 3.2 GB RAM.
Only the 64-bit Vista will be able to recognize 4 GB and more.

  • Re: Satellite A200: Question about the Windows Vista serial key

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 and I doubt, in everest, I can see the key of Windows Vista, but it's different to the Windows key in the tile to the bottom of the laptop.
I change anything in the laptop because I bought, I have use once the recovery cd, but I have not a pirate key or something like that.

    Why this different key?

    Post edited by: Admin

I agree with the user above.
The serial key you will find at the bottom of the device is not similar to the serial key that can be read using a few 3rd party applications!

But you don t need such series on your Toshiba laptop key.
The restore CD contains an image of Toshiba which is already activated!

  • Two questions about SP1 and Vista startup

    Hi all
    two questions:

    (1) I understand that if I want SP1 on my machine, I have to install manually, because it is not included in the automatic update routines?

    (2) my machine failed yesterday, I received a message "unable to start Windows. A recent hardware of software change might be the cause. "The only thing I can think is that before turning off the previous time, I inserted a USB hard drive to copy the files on it. But I continued to work normally on the machine. Another unusual event, it is the day before, it was very slow to start, so afer it finished start, I restarted.

When the system could not start, I tried several times, automatic procedures that always ended with "windows cannot resolve the issue automatically,
Contact your service provider. In the last attack, I also clicked on a 'Advanced tab' and restored the system, but it does not solve the problem. Then, this morning I turned on the machine again to write the exact error I have, and message instead, unexpectedly (and rather willingly), the machine starts normally. So, what could happen? Should I get my machine (which is less than one month) verified?
    Thank you!

    Hi polla.

    (1) Yes, Yes. You must download and install SP1 manually.

    (2) No, I'm Don t think that you should check. I would say: work with it and if the error appears, back up all your data and restore complete your system, so you can exclude any type of software problem...
