Question of chipset on Satellite A660 - 1 H 5

I recently discovered the problem of chipset in some computers laptop toshiba. Apparently, my laptop is affected by the problem. IM using the Core i7 2630QM.

http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/bulletinDetail.jsp?soID=2926784&PF=true

It says at the bottom of this page I have us communicate by Toshiba, if I bought the direct Toshiba laptop which I did not. I bought it on this site. What am I supposed to do? I can't find any information on how to return the laptop with a full refund and I can't find any info on my laptop because apparently there are more.

The link you posted is for US market, but I think that your laptop is not designed for the USA.
Where you bought your laptop?

I searched and not found this information.

  • Satellite A660 and Win8.1 - utility Chipset SW Installation

I have recently installed windows 8.1 on my Satellite A660 machine.

The question I have, is that I have to install an Intel Chipset SW Installation utility? (this is via windows update too)

What I notice sometimes is when you install it the fan starts about 70% mark even when the computer is idle. (room temperature is around 30 c/85F)

    Thanks to you all

    Hi wsb

I can see the Toshiba EU support page, A660 only is not supported for Win8/Win8.1.

  • Satellite A660: Comment and a question about button lighting / mute

    Note:

Hi, I'm the proud owner of a satellite A660-166 (3 days) and I installed everything from scratch on the win 7 pro because I got my laptop with a home (need pro for work) version... I met some problems, but this forum really answered my questions :) Never found such a useful for technical support forum. I wanted to express my gratitude and my support for everything you do for users :)

Problem: well, this isn't really a problem, more a curiosity... I had a few problems with the key eco, at this time there button lighting / mute was to mute... Thank you guys, I found out what needed to be done, I reinstalled the Flash card software and everything worked properly more the lighting button / mute has been for enlightenment now. I have nothing against that, I prefer it like this, but I wonder how to change that... I found some response on the use of toshiba wireless Assistant and the illumination tab... Because my laptop is fairly new, that I do not have a tab of enlightenment, I was wondering how to change the mute button if I want to?

Thanks, keep up the good work!

It's nice to hear that you found answers to your questions here. Many people here trying to help.

Back to your question: it is not easy to give a precise answer and I really put t know if you can change the settings of a single button. I think it has something to do with the registry entries, but how to change, that's another question.

If you use this button for lighting ON / OFF, you can use FN + ESC for the mute button so you have two options that can be used with a touch or quick key combination.
Can you please test and confirm that it works correctly?

  • Anyone know drivers installation for Satellite A660 - 11 M order

Someone knows the drivers the order of installation for Satellite a660 - 11 m?

I have some problem installing Win 7 pro (wlan don't work correctly,
a few minutes after the start of the computer laptop, neoconservative to run CHKDSK on C: of freezing).

Reading this forum seems to me that these are not new problems for users of Toshiba.

    Hello

Where can I find t an installation order on the official website of Toshiba Satellite A660 but as written Akuma, Chipset utility must always be installed everything first and then other pilots.

But the question is why you n t use Toshiba Recovery disk? It contains a ready to use of images (factory settings). Then you n t need to install additional drivers. ;)

  • What HARD drive I can use on my Satellite A660-13D?

    Hello

I'm looking for any compatible for a Toshiba SATELLITE A660-13D hard disk drive as the one inside is dead now.

This model comes with the laptop is a TOSHIBA MK6465GSX 640 GB, SATA 3 Gb/second 5400 RPM 2.6 revision

Official suppliers of Toshiba quoted me 130 euros por the same model.

I can't have such model through any other store or the internet.

There are a lot of different new TOSHIBA HDD in the market with the largest capacity and much less expensive than the MK6465GSK.

Can I install any new toshiba HDD on my SATELLITE A660-13D?

Is there any toshiba page where I can find out what toshiba HARD drive are compatible with my SATELLITE?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

    Fernando

What you need is 2.5 SATA HDD and it may be Toshiba but it may also be of some other manufacturers. You don't need anything special. If possible consult your dealer and they can help you choose one that suits.

Now, when you need a new HARD drive maybe you should think about upgrading with SSD. Disc SSD is much faster and use of SSD with your laptop will rapidly increase the performance of s for laptop.

More info on SSD, you can read on http://storage.toshiba.eu/cms/en/index.html

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • Satellite A660-1FH fails to back off with Win7 64-bit

Hi, a friend of mine asked me to watch his Satellite A660-1FH (PSAW3E). It is currently running windows 7 64 bit. There initially could not activate so I said I'd take a peek.

It just would not start the power on, it would go beyond the initial screen then cursor would appear at the top on the left and flash a couple of times and freeze. I started and you press f2 to view the bios and the HARD drive was top of the list so I pressed f10 and saved and started. starts fine then he thought may have been an accident that has caused and continues in windows and update for him.
then rebooted and froze! It seems when the restart is selected, it does not restart, everything freezes.

I tried to use hirens resumed but it cannot see the HARD drive when it is started! weird. I got in the car and he ghosts for safety.

Earlier I installed 8 company windows x 64, and it presents the same question. the drive works fine in other pc so you need another piece of equipment. I had already updated the BIOS under win7 and checked all drivers.

I just got a strange win8 startup message saying that a boot or partition file was missing and could not start but him repressing the power button, it starts well.

It does not always restart under a clean install of win8. I came here because I found a post with the same or similar issue. Any suggestions? Thanks Mark

    > it just would not start the power on, it would go beyond the initial screen then cursor appears at the top on the left and flash a couple of times and freeze

The blinking cursor appears in the upper left corner indicates a malfunction or memory from HDD. I think you should check both sides.

You said that the drive works fine in another PC. Do you hear the HARD drive?
If so, then the HARD drive is OK and the RAM is probably the troublemaker.

  • Satellite A660 - do not find external DVD drive

Hey guys. Newbie displaying in total despair of and needing help! I posted in other forums without success. I bought a Samsung SH-D162D DVD drive in a USB enclosure to connect to my Satellite A660 via USB.

I can't get Windows 7 to find! When I plug in the USB cable, the ball comes up to say that it has been installed (sometimes), I can see it on for about 1 or 2 minutes then he falls. It is not listed in my hardware or anything. Its not found in disk management or my devices, so it is not a case to change the drive letter - I can't find the drive to change. I also tried to find upper and lower settings in regedit. Could not find them so couldn't remove them as suggested in other posts of this nature.

It is set to master, the IDE connector and power connectors are very good. Its got to be a cause of problem of Windows 7 it comes very briefly. In the minute or 2 sound, I can't do anything with it. It crashes right although it will open and close. I've google it and can't find anything. Mainly of registry issues, but they did not help.

Ive also connected to another laptop with XP and had no problems so I know the DVD Rom works very well and all the cables are ok. Ive tried all 4 USB ports on my laptop and also disabled all the parameters of energy. All with no luck. And I also all Windows 7 update.

This is exactly what happens to the power out of the Cabinet.

    1. I connect the USB cord then turn on the enclosure.
2 - I quickly click Start, and I can see the DVD Rom E player beside my computer laptop dvd rom.
3 - the green bar above starts to fill to the top, from left to right and gets to half way then suddenly disappears icon of DVD Rom and makes the green bar.
    4. He then flashes up in computers laptops DVD Rom icon with a player of Local E drive, but only for a fraction of a second.
    5. sometimes a balloon comes up saying peripheral installation, then the installed device successfully... but not every time.

And that's all. I'm at a total loss and the cant work, so any help is really appreciated!

    Hi Smee,

So if you have already connected the external hard drive on another computer, and it worked correctly, it seems to be a driver or compatibility between your external DVD drive problem and and your Satellite A660

It will be connected to the port USB then you tried to remove all the USB ports on the Device Manager? After that, you must restart your computer and the USB ports will be recognized automatically from the Device Manager. In addition, I would also try updating the chipset driver. New version, which you can download on the official website of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Have you also tested other devices on your A660 if they work properly?

  • Satellite A660 - 10 X sometimes won't start - screen black startup

    Hello

_sometimes_ my Satellite A660-10 x (PSAW3E) usually start.
I turn it on, you hear the fan coming, on the screen, you see a blinking cursor on the screen in the top left, it kind of more climbs to left and top over in the corner and stops. Nothing happens, after a while, I turn off the laptop.
If I do this 3 - 5 times then it starts. Sometimes it starts on the first attempt.

    What I tried:
Reinstall the PC since the partition of drive with Win7
Out of HARD drive in my desktop PC and CHKDSC running with analysis and correct errors.
Cleaning of all the PC of dust, fans etc.
    Pulling out / in battery/AC
    Check the memory (RAM)
Processor power management change the State of the minimum 5% to 100% CPU

I understand PC, but this day have no idea what can cause this. The only thing that comes to mind is that the partition at the beginning of the disk contains errors that I can't reach because there a boot partition, partition original installation and the rest which is the only one, I can not reach with CHKDSC.
I heard someone tried changing battery of motherboard (small round), it can it be?

It doesn't seem to be the disc or the problem of the LCD screen, or RAM memory.

    > I turn it on, you hear the fan coming, on the screen, you see a blinking cursor on the screen in the top left, it kind of more climbs to left and top over in the corner and stops. Nothing happens, after a while, I turn off the laptop.

Cursor blinking in the upper left is a well-known landmark and could be related to defective RAM or HARD disk memory problems.

Verification of memory could be carried out, and in my experience, these controls provide memory about the correct results. But even if verification of memory would not find any problem of RAM, it could still be a nuisance RAM.

Of course, I can't say with certainty, if his RAM related question or maybe its related to other defective part.
Fact is that this problem is caused by problems of material and in the worst case that the motherboard needs to be replaced.

  • Satellite A660-149 - how to synchronize with my iPad?

    Hi all

You just bought an iPad 2, but the Satellite A660 will let me sync to it. After that 90-minute in the apple store, we determined it must be the PC, because it would not also sync an iPad store, and my ipad syncs on their Macs.

I did a complete reinstall of itunes, after deleting everything and have also downloaded the latest updates to the bios for laptop. Any help would be appreciated!

I think you should put this question to the Apple support and not here in the Toshiba support forum.

But I've got an iphone and a laptop series Satellite has and can synchronize the data on your laptop and iphone without going through all the questions
I had some problems installing the most recent iTunes but it has nothing to do with the Toshiba laptop.
I couldn't uninstall the old itunes due to registry problems in windows
I cleaned the registry with ccleaner and once installed the itunes once more.
Then I could follow the synchronization

  • Satellite A660 - limited to 2 MB/s USB key

I have a Satellite A660 PSAW #C - 047017. Transfers of files with several sticks of memory appear to be limited to 2 MB/s. Theoretically, it is much more than an order of magnitude higher. Anyone else encounter this?

    Hi Bookworm123,

Can you post more information about this behavior? What operating system you are using and if it s the version preinstalled Windows of Toshiba or not.

Generally support USB itself is a function of the speed of transfer of files on USB support

Have you checked the Device Manager for the yellow exclamation points on the USB ports? I would try a chipset driver in your case and it can be downloaded on the official page of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

    Check this box!

  • Satellite A660 - USB 2.0 ports are inadmissible

My laptop series Satellite A660 is a month old and worked fine so far. However, I turned on the machine and all the three Ports USB 2.0 are inadmissible. I Shut Down and restarted the computer - no change.

(Windows 7-16 Bit OS) Control Panel - manage devices - it is said that all USB Ports 2.0 are recognized and working. In fact, NO device in one of the three (3) USB2.0 Ports are actually be recognized or working at all - there is no answer. Interestingly, the port eSATA/USB combo of 1 one works and responds correctly.

    Can anyone help?

Should I just send it was pushing the shop? Yes, it's still under warranty.

    Hey,.

    > Should I just send it was pushing the shop?
No, I think that it s just a USB driver problem.

In your case I would reinstall the chipset of the official website of Toshiba driver. Also, you have the latest version, try to reinstall it because it contains the USB drivers and maybe it's something wrong with her s.

After installation of the chipset driver test it again. If it doesn t work to remove all the USB ports on the Device Manager and restart your laptop. The USB ports will be reinstalled automatically.

What version of BIOS you have installed?

  • Satellite A660 - 11 M - drive HARD recovery is not possible

    Hello.

I bought the satellite A660 - 11 M two months ago. A week before, he started to cause a problem that when turned on, boot HARD drive is not possible in the first place and boot priority option page is shown. Only after that I have reset a start command, it started.

To resolve this issue for good, I decided to format the HARD drive using the HDD recovery procedure. Unfortunately, I had to cancel this procedure after 2 minutes, and the start-up is not possible at all since then. He continues to display the message "Boot failure" etc. and staging to the BIOS screen. So, I can not access the recovery procedure even if I keep the F8 key. I am afraid that a recovery on the HARD drive partition can have been damaged due to the forced cancellation.

I have not created a DVD of my own laptop recovery, and the only option seems to buy one from Toshiba (https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx). Before you order a recovery disc, I would ask if my problem can be solved using the disc. Anyone who has experience with the recovery disc could advise me? Another question is to know if a standard warranty let me send to Toshiba ASP? Thank you for reading.

    Hello

    > Another question is to know if a standard warranty let me send to Toshiba ASP?
    Warranty only covers hardware issues.

Question you seems to be related to a software problem.
Therefore, I doubt that installation of the OS would be covered by the warranty.
You should order the recovery disk and must attempt to define the notebook back to factory settings.
Then you should check the features of the laptop.

    Good luck

  • Win XP on Satellite A660-1

    Hello.

    My question is:
How can I install Win XP on my laptop?
I'm looking for drivers on my Satellite A660-1 for Win XP, but I can't find anything :(

    PLS, help.

    Hello Kröt

Toshiba offers drivers for operating systems that are supported only. We have the year 2011 and new notebooks are designed for new standards, so it's time to look forward and use the latest technology.
I assume that the percentage of users of Windows XP Home edition on the new models of laptops is so low that there is no need of support for Windows XP Home edition.

If you want to use WXP why you n t use some old laptop model? I mean spending a lot of money for the most recent material and you want to then go back and use the old operating system, there is no sense to me.

You can try to find some googling autour drivers but I'm pretty sure you will never be able to have 100% well configured OS. What you can try to use VMvare and virtual OS.
