  I have problems to send for the free upgrade to windows 7 from vista, I bought a new compaq computer last yr. Someone gave me a free version of windows 7 to be sent to me as long as I apply before February 2010.

  But when I go to enter the codes that they need on the site (windows update), in that I can't find the right codes on my receipt or the box that my computer has been delivered.

  I tried with the codes they use on the site, but they do not seem to work.

On the free upgrade Web site it is said that the operating system can be upgraded to windows 7, according to the weather, I have vista (upgrade straigh) or xp (must be a stable cleaning). Now, my question is can I perform a clean installation with this upgrade? I know that normally you can perform a clean install via the insertion of the disc of the previous operating system media during installation, but as the Min 5101 is a netbook (no cd drive) I will probably install it via a USB key. It is very important for me to have a clean install.

  I n t have experience with this because I didn t buy such a phone compatible update yet, but I think that you need the serial number and the model number of the laptop. The two pieces of information you can find on the underside of the laptop.

  Because the computer has not been updated in quite sometimes, strongly suggest that first of all, using Internet Explorer, see whether the system can be analyzed by the OneCare security analysis - Safety Scanner for Windows Vista and Windows 7
