Question of Master Pages

I'm wearing a book (first time).  I have master pages.  Master A for normal pages, for the title of chapter I Master B, which is a two pages with a quote on the left page and a nice chapter title page on the right.  These have the text in the text boxes.  Example of

C H A P T E R O N E (centered, with the lines above and below - this change with each chapter above)

(a chart that never changes)

1 (digital chapter - large fonts - change with each chapter)

Chapter title (this changes each chapter

From the text (pretty drop tank and text then normal)

The problem is that when I start a new chapter, I insert a few pages, take two of them and play Master B. This makes them identical to the Master B, with text and all of that.  I need to substitute it.  I figured out how to make on Chapter 1 and 2. In Chapter 3 I now find myself in trouble again. It seems that there are places where I always struggle against InDesign to be able to edit the text.

Any advice? What is the best way to proceed that works like a charm every time?

If they are behind something, it will be impossible to replace them unless you click on an area that is exposed. Another possibility is that they are on a locked layer.

  • Question of master page frames & text

    Hello, all. Question on master pages and blocks of text, if you don't mind.

    I was told that I didn't draw a text frame on the master page, the margins are going to be the same size as my block of text. OK, hooray, set up the master page without a framework text (and according to a number of additional templates out of this).

    It turns out that I had to change the margins later, after the original text, I have had paid. The text block in the pages that have not changed, and I had to resize them all by hand on the individual pages... I couldn't do it on the master page.

    What I did wrong, and how can I avoid this in the future? Part, of course, do not change margins after pouring text. Heh.

    All my best,

    Chryss

    You have to turn on the adjustment of the layout in the menu layout, before you make a change like that. Blocks of text that align with margin guides will resize with the guides (and of course, this will change the text of an image to the image stream).

  • Questions find master page on my project of Indesign.

    I use the demo version of CC 2014.2 to create my first paper. After starting it the week last (with full access to a master page), all of a sudden, the master page option went when I pull the document upward. Is it because I'm on a trial version of Indesign? Or am I missing an obvious way to back up the master page for my document back again?

    Nothing magical about this topic. Look under the window menu.

  • Question about master pages

    I have a book with a number of documents. In the first document, I want a master page that is not a running header text variables that are in the master page for the rest of the document. I don't know how to create that. I tried to create a new master based on the other, but was not able to edit the text variables in this new master.

    You must replace any item that is inherited from the master, if you want to edit or delete.

    Master Page Items question: I use master pages for a 60 page document and just found out that some of my master page items are multiplying! There are some boundaries on the pages, and some of them are constantly a quantity apparently without end on top of the other. For example, I replace to change the color of the border and notice a black there's below him so I deleted the extra and there is another and another and another... EEK. I can easily hide them, BUT I fear they will lead to complications in the case of pre-press printing. What is the cause? What can I do to prevent it? How can I get rid of the stack-up?

    It's always haapening, if you substitute any element on the page and later master you reapply the same or another master. I would NEVER say to replace any itme master page in the page. Instead create another master based on the first, make the substitutions and apply this master. Substitutions on the pages should be avoided in all cases, not only for the problem you described above, other issues of accessibility will also come into play.

  • Question about InDesign: master page items I delete will not be missing.

    I'm working on bringing a book, with chapters that are separate files. Of course, there are a master page with various guides that I use a lot, as well as a header running pretty standard with the names section and chapter and page numbers. As is standard practice, I would like to appear on almost all the pages, but not on the front pages of the chapters. (There are other times I might want to replace it, but that is the main). So, I Ctrl-Shift-click, then delete them when I put in place a new chapter.

    Problem is that they are not missing. Every so often, I open a previous chapter and find that these items are back on the first page of this chapter, and I remove them again. I only noticed this since I did the chapters in question in a book file so that I can keep an eye on my pages and synchronize styles more easily.

    My best guess is that maybe it has something to do with the aforementioned synchronization. I don't want these chapters to share the same master pages, but don't want to keep IDto re-application of the elements of their share to the individual pages that I have already manually the deleted since (sometimes more than once). How can I stop this from happening? (Or otherwise, if it is not the cause of the problem, what else could be and how to deal with that?)

    Create a different master page based on your primary master page for these pages. Do not make substitutions on the pages of work.

  • Beast Master Page question

    Although I've been using Framemaker since 1992 (Unix) and progressed to fly from unix to windows, macintosh and return to windows.  I currently use Framemaker 9 on Windows XP and I still feel like a newbie sometimes. The question was which is rampant in me for years and some I think that the answer might be accomany a Duh answer? quickly followed by a head slap

    Is it possible to include pages in true landscape mode in a single framework document?  By true landscape I do not mean a block of text rotated on a portrait page. To create a book my perceived solution (two diferent framemaker files {a landscape and a portrait]) may be confused when creating a 100 page document where 25 or more are pages in landscape mode and generally they are not consecutive. One of my latest projects required a book with 52 individual photos. (In Word (sorry for the curse on the forum), the project has a single file.)

    Any help would be appreciated and I promise no Homer SImpsom response will be provided

    Look in the help file online something like "assignment of master pages to the pages of body containing paragraph tags.

    But the basics are:

    1. Create a master page to landscape.
    2. Create a single paragraph tag you will use to call the master page. Generally, this should be some position, but can be anything.
    3. Map the tag of paragraph to the master page by using the Mapping Table in the reference of the document page.

    I found, in general, it works very well for situations where you really don't have a landscape between the portrait pages page. It becomes clumsy fairly quickly if you need to put in place a series of pages in landscape mode. If you need to do this, I set up a separate document to landscape and then import it into the parent file as an insert text - make sure to preserve the landscape on the importation of setting preferences sheet shaped. Or go to the other approach, you mentioned - page groups of each type, implemented as component files in a book, set up to resemble a single chapter.

  • Newbie question: select a region on a master page?

    Hello

    I need to select and delete the images of footer of a master page (actually a gap of two pages) and want to learn so if someone could tell me a command or commands I can try to understand to use it. Basically a specific MARQUEE select the bottom eighth page or so - I searched with each quarter I can think, but what I found seems to take care of something else more involved.

    Thank you

    Gary

    I wrote a sample script for you to play with:

    doc = app.activeDocument;
    pageHeight = doc.documentPreferences.pageHeight;
    page = doc.pages[0];
    pageItems = page.pageItems;
    bottomPortion = pageHeight / 8 * 7;
    bottomItems = [];
    for(c=0;c bottomPortion){
            bottomItems.push(pageItems[c])
        }
    }app.selection = bottomItems;

    This script will select any element with a lower edge that extends beyond the low 8th front page.

  • Question of the Master Page Architecture

    New site needs a main page of the company, which then directs the customer to choose one of the two store restaurant locations which each will have its own pages with its options, somewhat different from the other chain store location.  What architecture will better serve this kind of situation?

    The name of your master pages are not relevant. Only, you see these names. You will need to set the page name in the page properties.

    I don't know what you mean by levels? On the plan view? If so, I would have probably a three-page senior level (hand, store 1 and 2 to store) and then direction from there. But it's really hard to say without knowing how many pages you have etc.

  • Question page vs Master Page

    Is it possible to insert different information in different pages, for an empty text boxes, applied to a Master Page? If so, how? Or each specified page just needs to be a double Master Page of its own?

    Any idea is appreciated.

    I think that we must learn the concept of pages, masters and layers.

    On a master, you will need to place objects that repeat on every page, but not any type of content. On the mask belongs to a block of text with the page number marker, life headers, section marker, background, all on different layers.

    Only if you have created a primary text blocks they should be on the master are other placeholder not suppoesed to be on the master.

    On the page is all that is part of the content.

  • Back and front master page of questions when drag/reorganization of pages - photo, CS6

    I have a novel/book exceeds everything that a document (as opposed to ID book) and I used the existing templates and styles of a previous book.

    When a chapter ends on a page (on the back) left side of the spread, I want to start the opener next chapter on the right side (front) very next propagation.  When a chapter ends on a straight line (front), then I want the opener of the next chapter to start on the next spead on the side left (back).  I mainly use a page of mater (2 pages) for the first chapter game and a master spread 2 separate page for content pages.  I'm trying to achieve a layout of book/novel with none of the white pages.

    I tried to create master pages 1 page and application to "undo" spreads, but that seems not worked either.  I 'allow pages from one document to shuffle' unchecked.

    On the attached page, I tried to delete the blank page (master set to 'none'), but when I do, it just creates another page in its place.  When I try to drag and drop the opener of the next chapter to the right of the last chapter ending, it adds a blank page in front of it or removes one of the content pages.  The "son" of text are perhaps the cause of issues?  Any ideas?  Really hope there is a solution that does not start.

    I would be grateful for the advice!

    Thank you

    Of course, simply change the document face to the non-connected format to, and all pages will use half left of the master spread.

    He may be little cleaning if you have asymmetrical margins or prevail on all main objects.

  • Question of the Master Page

    I have a form with two templates.

    How can I insert a new page in the Master page 2?

    When I try to insert a page I get a new Master Page 1 page!

    Thank you

    Click the page in the hierarchy, and then go to the Pagination of the object Palette tab, the option - the default value is top of next Page - click the menu drop down and go to the Page and select the name of the Master Page that you want to.

  • Master page text frame, CS3 question

    I use a master page to an inside page of the chapter has a couple of different text blocks: one for the header, one for the text and one for the folio, etc..

    I made a change to the largest block of text, where will the majority of the text. Rather than update the pages, I now have a dotted line showing me where the new 'top', and I need to drag each individual up to respond to this text block. I know I'm doing something wrong, because it's crazy.

    School me! What Miss me? Not to mention that the brain cells?

    Thankee,

    Chryss

    The main text blocks can be useful or a waste of time. I almost never use them for content of the body, instead the margins of adjustment to the size of the text block. ID will use margins to create new images on all pages it adds.

    That said, if you threw text in the frameworks of masters and the images on the live page is not updated when you change the master, it implies that you have already changed the size of the image on the live page. It is unlikely, in my view, if my guess is that you are not really masters executives. It's pretty easy to think you are, but to make a new image instead.

    The idea is to look at the loaded cursor and see if the form is modified to include the parentheses. They indicate you want text in an existing framework. If the frame is bounded or crossed by guides, it is important to click in an area away from these guides. ID will use the entire frame. If, however, you click on a guide, ID will ignore the existing frame of master and make a new one. One way to tell is to drag the form part of framework filled the page and see if the main frame is always present (dashed lines).

    Allowing the page layout setting can help in a situation like this, if blocks of text actually affect guides, but there is no guarantee, and it must be turned on BEFORE you make a change to the document.

    If you provide more information, and perhaps a screenshot of the page master, we can give a better answer.

  • How to identify the master page of replacement

    I think that this forum must be broken. Surely questions have been over the years who use the term "ignore".

    Anyway, every time I move a master page for the body, I get the message asking if I want to maintain the substitution. I looked and looked and did not find that on the page of the body is the substitution of the master page.

    How will I know which chokes on Framemaker? I use FM 12 in Windows 7.

    Thank you!

    Hi Nancy:

    I know! We must put our detective hat and grab our magnifying glasses to understand. You can put it on a list of gifts here: host.

    From my experience, once removed, always removed. Are back you (or someone in your office) do anything to add in without knowing it? For example, by selecting the single page framework model and makes it a little more time to accommodate an additional line? If the framework model is just a fraction of a different point in the frame of the page master, it generates the message.

  • Unable to find the function "move to the foreground master page". Where can I find it?

    I have a master page with a clear navigation menu. But if I add a slideshow full screen on my homepage, the navigation menu is in the background. I know that there is a feature where you can get the content of the masterpage in the foreground, but for some reason, this feature does not appear in the drop-down list < object >. The version I used is the version 15.2. My question is: How can I get this feature appears in the drop-down list object so I can use it?

    Thank you

    Koen Leenen.
