Question on choosing a second card GPU to speed up the rendering

Hi all.

I'm on first Pro CC 7.2.1 (for Windows) and I would like to add a second GPU card in the system, since CC PP supports several cards GPU for rendering.

My question is this: the 2nd GPU must be identical to the 1st? or may be significantly faster (or less) and still the two cards will work well together without problems (i.e. adding a card GTX-780 to a system with a GTX-660 card already installed in it).

Thank you very much in advance guys.

Each complex will have something that is the "bottleneck".  For example, if you have two kind of evenly matched highend cards, then the CPU will be your bottleneck.  If you have two different cards then the old card may not even useful to have in the system.  It really depends on your support and the workflow.  If as I do have media HD AVCHD, most of the time I got out DVDS and have a hex core CPU overclocked use usually some effects MPE accelerated, then a second card could repay.  I ran a 680 GTX and GTX 660 cards with my new GTX 780.  If you are registered on our site PPBM7 you can see my results, currently the fourth result belongs with a GTX 680 and a GTX 780 and one below which is with just a 780 GTX

  • Adding a RAID card to help speed up the export (and another question reader) in first Pro CC

First of all, I read the Page Tweakers export section because that is my main concern is. First my questions, then the background and my current and proposed configurations:

Question 1: Adding a hardware RAID controller, for example an LSI MegaRAID will sufficiently remove the burden of parity management CPU on my RAID 5 software that the CPU will jump of joy and export faster?

Question 2: If true for above, then compare thoughts on adding smaller SSD for either a RAID 0 or less two RAID 0 volume volume complete HDD RAID 5. In other words, I think the purchase of four Samsung 850 Pro 128 GB SSD to put in a four disk volume to handle everything (projects/media, media, previews, export cache), or split it into two volumes of two disks of each and divide the tasks, or keep the idea of volume four disc and previews and exports on my drive HARD RAID 5 array.

The 850 are valued at SEQ write: 550 / 470 MB/s so I could get around 2000 / 1500 MB/s read/write to a disk four RAID 0 or 1/2 who, if I divided in two volumes to minimize the volume of read/write at the same time, if it really matters with these SSD?

The Tweaker page made some comments. A split is carried out the tasks between different drives, rather than a large effective RAID can really slow things down. Because SSDS are much faster than a single HARD disk, I think its more accurate than so I'm leaning towards the configuration of four discs put OS & programs on the C drive, media & projects on media on SSD (2 disks RAID 0) Cache and D (HDD RAID 5), file exchange & Previews & export on 2nd SSD RAID 0 (or combine the two RAID 0 and their functions).

Just trying to get a point of view here, since I have not bought anything yet. Any experience/stories, I would be grateful.

    My current setup of training:

My D drive is a software RAID 5 consisting of four 1 TB Western Digital RE4 (RED) 7200 RPM hard drives with CrystalDiskMark SEQ read/write of 339 / 252 MB/s.

The C drive is 500 GB SSD (Samsung 840 (not Pro) and fact 531 / 330 MB/s.) My OS, Program Files and Page file are on C and media data/files/projects, etc. that are all about the RAID drive.

    Problem:

Current configuration allows for smooth installation, just export seems slow, usually taking between two and two and a half times the video length to export. Thus, a 10 minute video takes 20-30 minutes for export. 15 minute video can take 30-40 minutes to export. The first 10% of the export of re-encoding takes less than a minute (seems fast), but it becomes slower when the final 10 or 20 percent may hang for several minutes as my system is running out of steam. So, where's the waste?

I activated the hardware acceleration (because the GPU hack my GPU is not listed) and it can break through to 25% use a few times and eat up to 600 MB of VRAM (I have 2 GB of VRAM), otherwise it is slowed down export set. The CPU can boost at 50%, but it seems either too busy.

Our calendar is simple with two video and two audio streams (a little music and especially the voices), with simple transitions (jump cuts or cross dissolves). Sometimes, we fast correct color, so that could use the GPU? Also, given that we are filming in 1080 P 60 p and 1080 export 29.97 FPS, I think who is scaling and using the GPU. I know that without the GPU, it takes much longer. I excluded buy a faster GPU because it doesn't seem to be breaking a sweat. I just need to know if my system is a bottleneck at the level of the disk hard because I am using software RAID and my disks are slow and hardware RAID will considerably reduce the processor load so it can export more quickly.

Our files are not huge in nature. Most of our clips are several MBs each. Total files in the project are between 5 GB and 10 GB for each video with Windows Media File export being 500 MB to 1.2 GB on average. Look using Panasonic Camcorders, so the original files are AVCHD, I think (.) MTS files?).

    Considerations:

    1. I think to buy (and future proofing) a LSI Logic MegaRAID 9361-8i is 12 Gb/s SAS and SATA (because some SSD current can exceed the standard 6 Gbps).

    2. I will not replace my current HDD RAID 5 as not in my budget to spend 6 or more large SSD. These discs are more important to me for temporary storage because I delete files saved once. I don't mind a few smaller SSD inexpensive if they can make a significant difference for editing and export.

I can only guess my RAID HDD is slow but the CPU is burdened by parity. I guess running RAID 10 would not really help.

    My configuration:

    my configuration:

    CPU - CPU i7 - 3930K @4.5 GHz

    RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR3 2133 @2000

    Motherboard - ASUS P9X79 WS LGA 2011

GPU - Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 OC 2 GB (performed the hack of compatibility list to activate hardware acceleration).

    Drive C - 500 GB Samsung SSD (programs and Windows 7 Pro 64-bit) 840.

D drive - four 1 TB WD RE4 enterprise hard drives 7200 rpm in RAID 5 software

Box - Cooler Master HAF X

CPU fan - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO with 120 mm fan

Power - series Pro Corsair AX 850 watts 80 Plus Gold

    Optical drive - Pioneer BDR - 208DBK

    Thanks in advance,

    Eric

OK, after overload of information on everything I tried (free), which might be my answer here. I went from codecs to export. When you use Windows Media File, Premiere Pro seems chugging along much slower than when you use the h.264 (not h.264 Blu - Ray). I don't know if it's because Microsoft has found a way to break it or what. But I'm the CPU usage of 70-85% on the 2 Pass of 2 as well as the use of the memory of 40% (or 12 GB). It exported in 14 minutes. Woo - hoo. I then did a similar test using Windows Media File. It took 31 minutes to export. The CPU has spent much of his time in the 30%, especially down in the 1930s mid-1940s with spike for memory usage was only 24% to 35% and 50%. Since then, I've read how h.264 codec is 'plu' for online files. It compresses better with less compression artifacts. He seems better, etc. Well, they both seemed on the same thing for me. I play both on my TV 70 "before I could comment further. In the future, I will consider a RAID controller and upgrade the HDDs to SSDS.

  • I can't find a compatible Nvidia graphics card and monitor system of the body/Neo3D 3D

Adobe first Pro CS5.5 / specification tecniques (http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/tech-specs.html) lists the graphics cards that can be used to accelerate video editing.  I want to set up a system similar to what Dave Helmly is described (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aqi_qivG82c) with a computer 3D monitor and 3D TV secondary screen.  However, the 3D monitors that I saw as an Asus (http://usa.asus.com/Display/LCD_Monitors/VG236H/#overview) indicate graphics cards Nvidia that no overlap with those specified on the website of the organization.  Also, I found no towers locally that come with an appropriate Nvidia card.  I found some that have a free PCIe slot.  I need two cards in any case; However, the graphics card that comes with some of these machines specifies a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1600.

    Here are my questions:
    (1) what Nvidia graphics cards are both supported by the Organization and support of 3D monitors?  I'm looking on the bad feedback?  The Alienware site does not specify which graphics cards are compatible.
    (2) if the integrated video card has a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1600, does mean that if I want resolution 1920 x 1080 for each of the two eyes I need format (output HDMI to 3D TV) alternate-frame sequencing?

I have not bought equipment yet, I am looking for options that work.  Thanks for your help.

Hi Dennis, you need one of the Quadro graphics cards to do what you want (use the Nvidia 3D output). GTX cards will be released to a secondary 3D display, but only side by side and more to the title. I have a GTX 480 which I use with the body and Neo, main monitor is 2560 x 1600 (non - 3D), my secondary monitor is a Sony 32 "3D TV on which I discovered 3D since the timeline and FirstLight mode side by side. To be honest, I change and cut in 2d mode and really only use the monitor 3d for the color calibration (which is different for 3D 2D because of the need to reduce areas of contrast high which cause ghost images) and for the z depth of positioning for the composition and titles.

  • That second Y500 GPU is still on!

    Hello

    I've got Y500 with double GT650m windows 8.1.

I noticed a little this fan of the second GPU of my laptop is still on. Even when Iam just looking at Desktop and not doing anything on my laptop. Is this ok the second GPU work permanently?

With SLI systems you are stuck with using the cards SLI (cannot be used on board) so yes it is normal that the two cards will be on. The second card should not really do much is not required, but it will still have the power.

Hi, first of all thank you for the research this post ~!

I got a craving for my friend last year, and this model use an old card wireless (Atheros AR9485) that is not supported bandwidth of 5G. I'm looking for a replacement that could support 2.4 and 5 G band.

Model (based on the identification of auto for the HP Web site):

    Envy15t CT0 k100

    Model: G0T59AV

    Series: [personal information]

Some positions, said there will be compatiablity question if I buy a card at random, so could someone help me with this? Maybe give me a model which can be integrated in this situation?

HP partsurfer web page below, based on the model of my machine, I found some info, but really not sure whether this is the right one.

    http://PartSurfer.HP.com/search.aspx?SearchText=G0T59AV

Thank you again to finish reading my problem! THX!

    Hello

From my research, no whitelist more for new HP laptops (manufactured after 2014). Sounds like your machine has only 1 antenna so you can use the second one on the list.

    Kind regards.

  • Card GPU for Dell M420 or M620

    Hello

I'm relatively new to blades and had a few questions re: using expansion mezzanine cards.

I'm looking at establishing a RDS farm on some Dell spare blades (m420 preference, or even m620s).

I would like to use remotefx, which as I understand it requires a GPU card. That is available for these blades?

If there are other aspects to the introduction of these blades?

    See you soon,.

    Huw

    Huwy,

The only blade that current supports the use of the GPU is the M610x, which is located in the M1000e enclosure. The VRTX blades can support, because the VRTX has the PCI ports on the system board.

So it is not currently an option to get the GPU card to work on the blades of 2 model.

Let me know if this helps answer your question.

  • Choose which video card to use

I have a Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720. In Device Manager it shows that I have the 4000 Intel HD Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce GT 650 M.

I am playing the new game Star Wars Battlefront, but it crashes whenever I try to launch it. I went on a site called Can You Run It and run their system detection utility, it says I have the Intel graphics card which does not have the minimum system requirements. How to make the game to use the NVIDIA card?

I tried to disable the Intel card and restart, but that did not help.

    Thank you!

You cannot disable the Intel GPU - and it will show always primary, as all the passes of video data through it--even that of the nVidia GPU (which is just a coprocessor).

Right click on the game icon and you should see an option to run with the nVIdia GPU.

You must also have an optimus nVidia control panel you can use - right click on an open office area or search for it in the control panel.

  • I get the message: Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements. Visit the Web site of the manufacturer of the video card for the latest version of the software.

Photoshop has been giving me the warning:

Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements. Visit the Web site of the manufacturer of the video card for the latest version of the software.

Also other programs are affected.  I suspect a recent download of Adobe.  Can anyone HELP.

No, it has nothing to do with updates of Adobe. There is a problem with your video card driver.

Go directly to the Web site of the manufacturer of the GPU for updates (not Microsoft, not a System Builder).

  • Question about activation of Flash cards

My laptop is a Satellite PSB3E 200. If I click on the Flash cards in the start menu, the cards are activated and they were seen with the FN button. However from my pc once more that flash cards are not activated.
In order to solute the problem I downloaded and installed the utility from the site of Toshiba flash cards.

However running the driver I got notification of the serial number is not valid. Who can help me?

I don't really know what model of laptop you have, but what you can do is remove the additional package of the system and install the latest version available on the Toshiba download page.

After having done that, everything should work well.
Please let me know if it works for you.

  • question pxi_trig FPGA with multiple cards

I'm trying to get several cards to control and drive the same pxi_trig line.  The goal is to have all the cards to follow the same trigger line.  When a card is said to occur, other cards should detect it.  I found a similar problem discussed here, http://forums.ni.com/t5/PXI/pxi-trig-problem/m-p/1013201, but I try to avoid having a master / slave relationship.  Again I want any card capable of steering the trigger.  If I understand that the problem has been resolved with the method "Set exit help", I don't see the expected behavior.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Thatguy,

It seems that what you're doing should work.  As long as you reference the same trigger, they will all use the same physical wire from the PXI backplane.

I don't follow the logic of sense, though, but I guess what you're trying to do is to determine if this card tries to lead the line, while the value"Set out".

One thing to note when the line is not used, it is drawn up.  I don't know if this could be what you see or not.

    What behavior do you see?

  • question about H8-5134 video card driver

I bought this and is trying to figure out why the fps on the sims3 is low and someone said to check for new drivers.  the driver listed in the dxdiag is 8.17.0010.1140 as of 11/14/2012 is the amd radeon hd 7570 dedicated video card is not part of the motherboard.

It is one of the software on the hp site, but it said that its original driver if yes why is dated after the i have installed and the driver itself is higher, then it installed.  and also to be as amd vision has hp logo motor control I can't uninstall and instlal ati catelyst control I can?

And it is the normal procedure, but in the last months starting with HD 7xxx video cards, HP has been the installation of exclusive video cards, and not too many people know this change.

It is a matter of concern for gamers like you, who need the latest video drivers.

Some people come to remove these cards and installation details those who operate with the power supplies in the PC. Then they can use the latest drivers AMD directly from AMD as in the good old days.

To do this, a BIOS setting must be changed in order to circumvent beeps error video memory before starting upwards.

Not a big deal, but people do not know either.

Please refer to this post to the subject to change the BIOS setting if you ever decide to install a video card in retail.

Will work any SDHC and SDXC card will work more likey as well otherwise your system it the latest material and the o/s. just make sure it is class 10 rated. If you can afford the card GET more bigger that they are equal to 128Gig that I found but still waiting for the 2 TB version.

  • Upgradable GPU? Graphics for the next models?

    Hello!

I think to buy a satellite M40 that precisely fits my budget. The only problem is the X 300 128 MB graphics card which is in fact the slowest in ATI series x is there a possibility or the possibility of an update of the graphics card or through society, either with an authorized service provider? I know that there is the X 600 in some models that would be a good change from the X 300. The X 300 and X 600 will be available/expandable so that they can be changed? (I know that sounds a little crazy, but some other laptop producers are already doing something similar. But I will not buy another laptop...)

My second question is about the GPU by Toshiba next models that are coming in the next few months. Does anyone know if Toshiba will keep the X 300 on their models, or if they use a card more strong as the X 600, X 700, or even X 800? I prefer wait a month or so to buy something that I regret buying after a few months.

Thanks in advance for your help,

[Edited by: admin on 30 June 05 07:22]

    Hello Antonakis

Sorry, but the replacement of the graphic card or same CPU is not possible because the graphics card is fixed on the main map. You can upgrade just RAM or HARD drive.

One of my friends has the same unit. It's a beautiful machine with display fabulous and beautiful design. If you buy, be careful because tools & utilities CD is not available, and you can create alone. To create your own start the Toshiba Assist and go to Protect & Fix.

Sorry but I found no information on some future project and new hardware components that can be used in new models of laptops.

    Good luck!

    I have a problem with my G50.
On starup display only works for 2 or 3 seconds after it is black, I connect to an external display and using FN + F5, I can see everything on the second screen, if I turn to the internal using FN + F5 display, it works just the same 2 or 3 seconds.

    Thank you

    Hello

Looks like an internal display of FL inverter delivers hardware problem but I think that it s display.
It s certainly not display card problem because the external monitor works properly so I think that s no GPU, but screen FL inverter.

I recommend to ask a technician of Toshiba laptop for a detailed audit of the part material
