Question on the addition of memory to Satellite A40

Hi people, have 40 I want to upgrade the memory to 256 to 1024. 2 questions,

1. where is stuck memory? Toshiba say under the lower panel (rear of) fan, I looked here and there are 3 copper pipes it... which I won't remove the chance.

2 (assuming I can find the memory slots) which is best modules of 2 X 512 or 1 X 1024 Module?

Grateful for any help.

Hello

This computer is fitted with modules supports memory of towing under the keyboard.
You can increase the amount of RAM by installing an extra memory modules as

PC2100 512 MB (PA3164U - 1 M 51)
PC2100 1 GB (PA3278U-1M1G)
PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51)
1024MO PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G)

I would have preferred a 1 GB module
To install memory, the laptop should be stopped and all the cables and battery should be removed.
Insert your fingernail or a thin object under the edge of the brace of keyboard and lift the brace. Remove the two screws fixing the keyboard and a screws of the metal structure.
Then, you will be able to remove the keyboard.
But be careful.
The full description will be published in the user's manual in Chapter 8 under memory

  • Where is the support of memory on Satellite 2450-SP295

    I have install memory expansion

Please, I beg you. Spoke Spanish. Thank you.

First all of the questions and comments in this forum from Toshiba are displayed in English
and I assume that all users can match only in English.

    Now to your question:
The Satellite 2450-SP295 is not known to me, but I found some info on the Satellite 2450 - S203.
Both units show very similar and should have the locations of memory under the keyboard.

If you want to upgrade the memory you have first of all remove the keyboard.
The keyboard is fixed by 2 screws that are placed under the thin cover above the keyboard.

  • Edit the modules of memory in Satellite M30X 165

The laptop has two memory modules with 512 MB of each module. I got an opportunity 1 gigabits.

Can I remove one of the 512 MB modules and install the 1 GB module to get total 1.5 GB of RAM or need two modules of the same size memory?

    I agree with user IronMan.
The laptop seems to support 2 GB of RAM, so the use of modules of 1 GB and 512 MB of RAM should be possible

  • Question about the extension of RAM for Satellite A50-522

    Hello

I have a Satellite A50-522, with a Pentium M 715 @1. 5 Ghz processor and Intel 855GME chipset. To expand its RAM I referred to the Spain/Toshiba support website and I bought the PA3313U-2M1G (1 GB SDRAM 166 MHz DDR333/PC2700) via amazon.com. It turns out that this RAM is for "Alviso chipsets" - which are those relating to the Intel Centrino processors with 9xx series express chipset. I called Toshiba/USA and they recommend the PA3313U-1M1G or its equivalent Kingston KTT3311 / 1 G (since it is impossible to find in the Mexico), instead of the one I already bought. They all seem exactly the same thing in their description, except for the note "alviso chipset.

    My questions are:
    (a) is the chipset of this computer, considered "alviso" type? and
    (b) if not, should I keep the RAM I bought already (PA3313U-2M1G for alviso chipset)?, can I have performance or compatibility problems? What are the risks of the use of this "alviso RAM' in a 'no-alviso chipset? I deeply appreciate your input.

    Thank you!

    Hello

The RAM modules for especially for chipsets alviso are not known to me, but the Satellite A50-522 certainly supports the memory PC2700 PA3313U-1M1G bar.
I guess the PA3313U-1M1G and PA3313U-2M1G are the same modules from memory.

PA3313U-1M1G and PA3313U-2M1G memory module are supported the same specifications of 1 GB - SO DIMM 200 pin - DDR - 333 MHz PC2700

I think you can use both modules without any problem.

  • Questions from the screen and keyboard on Satellite R830-181

    Hello

    I had exactly the same problem with it;
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=280934

I also explained what is it and how it over time in this topic.

To sum up; my screen and keyboard do not work in my Toshiba Satellite R830-181, 13.3 '' laptop.

    My questions;
    1. is it a motherboard problem?

    2. as it runs on an external monitor, I guess that the graphics card or processor is fine.
There is no damage on the screen, so I guess there is a problem with the connection of the power supply to the screen.

If I buy a new screen I have my doubts it will work.

I'll probably send it to the service tech in my country (hard to find here reliable technology services Toshiba), however, I would like to know what may be the cause and if I can fix it myself.

What do you think guys? It is a power issue or a problem with the monitor itself?
If a power issue or something else rather than the screen, how can be fixed?
Same question applies to the keyboard.

    3. If I repair or fix myself, you think it will happen again? Because I think that this could be a faulty laptop computer of a certain series of production since someone else has experienced the same thing with this model.

can 4 - there be a relationship between the non-functional keyboard and screen?

    5. If this can be resolved with a replacement of the screen, that I need to find a laptop screen Toshiba R830 or I can buy any 13.3-inch screen?

As far as I know this model is not supported by the company more, so it is quite difficult to find a screen R830.
It is difficult to find a 13.3-inch screen, anyway, but still, if I can use the screen of another model which would ease my problems.

I need an idea on that.
    Thanks :)

    > 1 - is it a motherboard problem?
Not easy to say: If the external monitor works correctly then this isn't problem chart/motherboard.
The external USB keyboard works properly, if not motherboard problem too.

    > 2 - because it works on a monitor external I guess graphics card or processor is fine.
    Yes, that's correct.

    > If I buy a new screen I have my doubts it will work.
I do not recommend to buy the new parts before the defective parts has not been verified.

    > I'll probably send it to the service tech in my country (hard to find here reliable technology services Toshiba), however, I would like to know what may be the cause and if I can fix it myself.
Good idea to send it to Toshiba service partner since the guys would be able to control parts and fix it.

    > What do you think guys? It is a power issue or a problem with the monitor itself?
If a power issue or something else rather than the screen, how can be fixed?
    > Same question goes for the keyboard.

Don t think someone can tell exactly what's causing this according to me its just a bad luck material can start malfunction happens in every possible branch of industries (TV, computer, smartphone, cars)

can > 4 - there be a relationship between the non-functional keyboard and screen?
No, the keyboard is only connected to the motherboard, display is also connected to the motherboard, but there is no connection between the keyboard and the display.

  • Question about the Installation of XP on Satellite A100-307

    Hello

I have a Satellite A100-307 with problems to install Windows XP. Model PSAA9E-11F03XFR

The recovery CD is lost and I installed the laptop with a normal CD of Windows XP (sp2).

During the Installation of the monitor is black.

The Installation is without possible recovery CD?

I created an Nlite CD with XP, but the SATA controller not found or the breaking of the Installation.

    Help me, please.

    Vtobi

    Hello

essentially it s possible to install an of a real CD of XP/Vista OS, I think that this is the reason why Toshiba provides drivers on their driver download site.

How do you mean that the screen remains black? More precisely, the description would be better...
Another question: what SATA controller did you slipstreamed on the XP CD? I hope that you´re to the topic the A100 has an older controller (should be an ICH7M).

  • Update the second slot memory for Satellite M100-221

    Good day, everyone!

I'll expand the memory up to 2 GB (1 + 1 memory modules). But the second slot so that it is placed somewhere under the keyboard.
    1. exactly where?
    2. could you please help how to get it?
I really have no desire to take apart the whole notebook!
Maybe someone has the photos how to upgrade memory.

    Many thanks in advance.

Maybe this page will help you http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-M105/take-apart-notebook-1.htm

I have to write something. For RAM upgrade its slot on the low side and in manuals s is described how this should be done. I don't know if it is advisable to remove the keyboard because you can void the warranty valid. Maybe you should call the authorized service and clarify this before starting the disassembly procedure.

    Good luck!

  • Question about the management of feeding on Satellite P30

    Hi all

I ve just had to replace my hard drive on my Satellite P30 in which I lost everything!
Before that, I had a program including the fan speed and cooling c.p.f. set.
I thought that it was the Toshiba power saver but I tried to install this and it seems that it s not the same
program that doesn't do these things.

My laptop seems completely disable when I m a game,.
in the past I've refused the c.p.f. a level that seems to do the trick which I just can't do it now.
He was an icon that looks like a pile of Paolo if that helps.

    Help, please?

If the laptop is full of dust, and I can imagine that P30 can be pretty dusty after so long, I don't think the air blower it will be clean again. I had P20 and after two years of use, there was so can dust inside and cooling grill has been blocked.

The laptop does not turn off, but it was strong enough and cooling fan was running without permanently.

Anyway, I don't know what program you used but for Toshiba P30 offered own tool to optimize the system and power consumption.

Did you find the name of this program?

  • Question about the extension of RAM on Satellite M30X 163

    Hello

I can install it as an extension of RAM on my laptop model?
I have now 2 x 256 MB (default factory equipment).
I'd appreciate any help about my question:
Type, frequency, the maximum capacity for each of the 2 slots?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

According to the specification for laptop, your laptop can handle with 2 GB of RAM and 1 GB of RAM followed the part number - PA3313U-1M1G. Put this number in Google and you will find info on this compatible RAM module.

To avoid compatibility problems, I recommend using the compatible RAM only.

  • Question of the use of battery on Satellite A200-1CR

    Hello again...

you have helped me many times, and I think once more... I did a search, but for the batteries, there is a mess...

I would like to know if toshiba recomments one way to fill and drain the battery so it holds in addition, with the passing years.
In the first battery I fill and complete emptying, 5 - 6 times a week and laptop was on the adapter time to rest...
But is it possible to use the battery and power adapter armonically without destroying the time the battery is holding its...

    What should I do?
Keep it always on the power adapter?
The battery full and empty about?

What I have now is that I can't put it in a closet... then I have to throw it away...
    What do you think?

    Sorry for my English...

    Hello

First to know that all batteries are covered under warranty for 12 months (one year) and more early any more later all batteries should be replaced because after a long period of use of each battery will discharge performance.

Well, you want to know how to manage the battery?
To be honest I have 3 laptops, and I never removed the battery if the power adapter is plugged.
But if you want, you can use the laptop without the battery if the AC adapter is plugged in but there is a risk that the laptop would be power off if you disconnect the cable accidentally.

However, the new generation of battery is more stable than the first batteries for laptops and in general it of not necessary to remove it when the AC is plugged.
In my opinion it should not affect the performance of the battery.

    See you soon

  • Question on the slots of RAM on Satellite P200

How to increase the ram to 2 GB (1 GB + 1 GB) to 4 GB?
Satellite P200 has 4 slots and I add ram 1 gb + 1 gb for the unused slots, or only 2 slots and I need to replace the ram of 1 gb + 1 gb to 2 gb + 2 gb?

    Hello

AFAIK all models of Toshiba laptops have 2 RAM slots. If you want to have 4 GB of RAM, you must RAM 2x2gb module.

If I remember well in users manuals description of the RAM upgrade on your laptop Satellite.

  • Question on the addition of other adapters

Hi, I have a Linksys one 2.4 G wireless router, I had to reformat my son witch pc was connected with a wireless adapter a Wireless Linksys WUSB54GS, its crises give me, I know that my ssid and key #, any step of ste to this connected, I hace the right drivers etc installed from cd mfg as well. Ty in advance.

PC you son, temporarily disable firewall on your computer, including the Windows Firewall and see if that helps.

With WEP, you must enter WEP "key 1" (found in the router) in your computer, not the WEP password or passphrase.

If you still have problems, follow these steps:

First of all, in the router give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you use "linksys", you can try to connect the router to your neighbor. Also set 'SSID Broadcast' to 'active '. This will help your computer to find and lock on the signal from your router.

In addition, in the computer, go to your wireless software and go to 'Favorite networks' (sometimes called 'Profiles'). There are probably a few listed networks. Remove any network called "linksys". Also remove any network that you don't recognize or that you no longer use. Delete your current network (this will remove all old settings.)  Restart the computer.  Return to "Preferred networks" and re-enter your current info from the network (SSID, encryption (if any) and key (if any)). Select your current network and make your network by default, then set it to auto login. You may need to go to 'settings' to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select 'Properties' or 'settings '.

If the above does not solve your problem, download and install (or reinstall) the latest driver for your wireless card.
