  I'll put up a 11.2.0.3 new install and I have a problem in my hands a little bit.
  
  While doing the installation, I created the asm on a partition disk in:

  oracleasm createdisk DATA /dev/sdb2

  Now, after rebooting, it may be the case when my score is not identified as/dev/sdb2 more instance cannot find the disc, so I need to tag it with something like

  e2label <partition> <labelname>

  to ensure consistent names after a reboot and my instance ASM will not fail
  
  My question is, can I I "remap" the ASM/dev/sdb2 < labelname > disc without having to recreate all over again? If so, how?

  The next steps so far are:
  -Once all the installation on the server programs I'm good to go with oracleasm
  --> Create disc on an unformatted partition/dev/sdb2
  --> install grid
  --> create diskgroup
  --> install 11 GR 2
  --> instance to create

  DO NOT use oracleasm - as I have said, it is expected to be close to retirement. If you don't want to be related to it.

  Make sure that the device has the appropriate permissions before you start.
  In the installation program, select ASM for OCR. in the lower right corner to select CHANGE DISKSTRING and configured to point to/dev/sd * and he sees only one with the correct permissions. It will ask you the name of diskgroup, and you select the sdb2 with REDUNDANCY EXTERNAL device. It will automatically load the initial configuration. Watch the udev.config to find out how to set permissions on startup

  I now have the weird behavior here. In other words, it intrigues me.
  
  I have only one instance of Oracle 11.1.0.7 ASM on an IBM AIX 5.3 TL 06 Server
  There no database yet configured to use this ASM instance as storage device.
  
  What I see here, is that any less than 90 M SGA_MAX_SIZE setting causes an error. SGA_MAX_SIZE 90 M is the absolute minimum on this server.
  
  Now the "problem":
  
  At the urging of normal-that is to say no ASM - AFAIK sga_max_size is the absolute maximum while sga_target can be adjusted upward for this size
  
  On my instance ASM every time I put only sga_max_size = 90M the instance starts as expected:
  SQL > startup nomount
  ASM instance started
  
  System Global area * 96026624 * bytes
  Bytes of size 2151248 fixed
  68709552 variable size bytes

  Now when I put SGA_TARGET also worth something strange happens.

  The answer is quite simple - ASM is currently not using the automatic Oracle 10 g database memory management feature. There was significant optimizations in GR 11, 1 material with regard to memory management, so there is no
  you will need to set the parameters of the SGA in GR 11, 1 material. ASM now operates the MEMORY_TARGET parameter and
  the default value of 256 MB is more than enough for the ASM instance. The management of processes (ASM)
  has also been optimized, so the setting process also should not be defined in GR 11, 1 material.

  You can reffer metalink note 265633.1 - there is a pdf document and that describes what needs to be set and what is not taken in charge.

  When the primary is on no - asm and pilot light is on ASM, then the first string, always belongs to the primary and then the following string is of course the day before... If your data files located in several locations, then you can add more as needed.

  An example below, you can mention '+ DATA' instead of '+ DATA/prodDB' If you use OMF and Oracle takes the directory based on the DB_UNIQUE_NAME you define, then disk group can do your job.

  DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT = "/ u03/app/oracle/oradata/prodDB ', '+ DATA ';

  1. is it true that the only (reasonable) to install DSO is to install the product called "grid Infrastructure? As far as I know, the answer is 'yes '. But GI seems to be so much more than ASM, although I don't think I want or need. Is there an easier way to get ASM?

  ASM is a feature of the Oracle Grid infrastructure Installation. So you will need to install IM using ASM.

  There is a GI installation which can be installed and configured in two different directions. For a Cluster or for a standalone.

  This option must be selected during installation.

  The installation of GI for a standalone is called Oracle Restart.

  GI for a Cluster installation is called Oracle Clusterware.

  The two options above have the particularity of the DSO.

  A lot of users here OTN tried installing Grid Infrastructure on RHEL6/OEL6 when it is not certified. Many questions appear.

  When it has been certified by Oracle, it remains several notes on MOS that will help you follow the main steps for a successful installation.

  I think you should use OEL 6, since Oracle Linux 6 has been certified by Oracle Corporation, you have all the support on this product.

• question about the operation of the ASM

  I use as storage oracle 11 GR 1 option matter and ASM. the sys user is Administrator of the ASM, but I am not able to access ASM instance with the sys user. If I didn't know oracle, then I have access instance asm, asm dg operation etc, I thought that ASM admin is one who can perform an operation on the instance asm and asm dg etc that I should always user use 'oracle' for the operation of the DSO. cant I use user "sys" to it.   Recently, we have applied the patch on one of our instance ASM, we've reached ORA-04031 on ASM instance. Oracle, we propose to apply the patch and one of my colleague came with these steps and

  (1) the o Specifies the oracle House and s specifies a path for the command "srvctl stop home" store the State of the resources. in this case, command (srvctl stop home - o) stops anything running oracle home.

  (2) rootcrs.pl with - unlock flag unlocks the CRS home and make it ready to patch.

  (3) the - oh indicator command opatch specifies oracle home to work on. This takes precedence over the ORACLE_HOME environment variable

  (4) - patch flag of the rootcrs.pl command specifies the oracle home is upgraded and lock it.

  (5) control of House o srvctl start will start the oracle home and all service runs from this House.

  I installed oracle 11g r2 rac with asm into two nodes. Operating system is hp-Unix.
  
  I installed oracle11g Active Data Guard using the single database only.
  
  The RAc and Active Data Guard works very well.
  
  I do not have set up Data Guard Broker.
  
  NB : RAC node1 is running using spfile that is in the disk of the ASM (+ DATA / spfiledcpdb.ora) but node2 is running using pfile.
  
  Question: how to open the node 2 use spfile, who will remain in ASM disk as node 1?

  Change your PFILE file to specify that IFILE = 'location_of_spfile. '

  OR

  use STARTUP PFILE = "location_of_spfile."

  Ensure that the spfile has the specific parameters of 2nd instance defined properly.

• Slowness of the ASM

  Dear team,
  I made a new installation of Oracle RAC using Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11.2.0.3, included with the DSO, on 7 of IBM power servers. the installation was successful.
  
  While creating storage on the database instance, I noticed that this process takes too long and the flow of the DSO is 0.07 Mbps (response time 450 ms), then a tablespace with 40 GB took more than an hour to create.
  
  In addition, I also noticed a slow when opening enterprise manager, as if the e/s of the DSO is too low, noting that the storage is configured in RAID 10 and the ASM SGA_MAX = 272 M
  
  I did a test of mounted file system on a LUN and copy a file with size 40 GB; I noticed that it goes too fast.

  We have a node RAC on Redhat 5.2 3. It works well but I find that all 3 ASM databases are not open. I guess it's OK for them is not open, but is it a bad idea to ahe that open them. I want to leave it open so that I can ask some views of the static dictionary.

  The ASM instances cannot be opened because there is no database instance - they are in a State of mounting. And you shouldn't question the views of any system except that are allowed for the ASM instances (such as v$ asmdisk etc.).

  From a little over a month (I think), Safari started freezing regularly whenever I want to open new tabs or switch between tabs. I found myself to leave the program several times per day / hour. I can't identify any specific common cause (other than my MacBook being old) or any new software or updates that might have initiated the question. At first I thought he might have many tabs, I tried to open, but recently it happens even with only a few tabs open.

  I worked through the steps I found in this forum and others: empty the cache, start in safe mode, etc nothing works.

  Based on the previous suggestions, I have downloaded and run EntreReport which I included below. The note and maybe just a distraction, but EntreReport has crashed three times tonight, before he was able to produce the sub report. I ran the report after restarting my system with no other programs running.

  Suggestions are welcome at this stage because I want to start using Chrome or Firefox because I like the transfer procedure between my devices.
