R & R left inoperable recovery XP

Hello. I ran into a question seeking to restore a backup. Here are my system details:

-T500

-Windows XP

R & R 4.2

I did a backup of my system on the server to my work. No problem occurred during this time. I was using my computer while he was backing.

Today, I tried to do a full restore from this backup. The restore process completed successfully, but when Windows starts it reports a "lsass.exe" error: "Security Accounts Manager initialization failed because of the following error: a device attached to the system is not functioning."

It has not changed material, other that I added a partition. In order to ensure that the partition thing wasn't the question, I deleted all my partitions (with the exception of the one Lenovo function) and allowed R & R to do what it pleased.

I did some searching for this error related and common reported the cause is that the NAT (SAM, Security Accounts Manager) file is damaged or missing.

I tried to start with "the last known good hardware configuration," which then caused a different error to come, also by lsass.exe: "when trying to update a password the return status indicates that the value provided as the current password is not correct."

So, my question is twofold: How can I get my PC works again without having to reinstall all my software and R & R is it reliable? I used Norton Ghost in the past and have had no problem making similar backup/restore processes. The company that I work uses R & R to make backups, but as my luck would have, I was the first to try to restore from a backup.

Thank you.

Len

Whoa... After about 1.25 days, my PC works again. Basically, I had to use another PC, with an external hard drive interface, to move the file "sam" from the repair folder to the working folder. Basically, cela reset all accounts of the user on the PC, but intact profiles. After joining the domain to my work, I was able to create a new account and reuse my old profile.

As part of the company, I am, traveling is sometimes necessary. I'm glad that it happened while I was at the office! I think that Norton Ghost looking pretty good right now!

  • NB550D - can't find Toshiba HDD recovery software

    Hello

Several days ago, I bought a Toshiba NB550D netbook. He had Windows Starter pre-installed, but I wanted to try Linux. I installed Linux and, of course, left the recovery partition. Now, I would return for Windows.

I would like to restore the software preinstalled on the hard drive, but I can't find the disk recovery software HARD Toshiba which could install on a newly installed Windows and restore the system from the hard drive. Where can I find it?

I have a whole score necessary for recovery, nothing moves or deleted.

    Enormously grateful for the help
    Toshiba NB550D user

    Hello

Toshiba HDD recovery software can be launched via the advanced version preinstalled Windows boot menu. In other words, this feature works with OS preinstalled only.

Now you have installed another OS (Linux) and this means that you can start t HARD drive recovery option more. HARD drive recovery partition is not enough to do.

Have you created a bootable USB key using the recovery media creator before installing Linux? If so, you can use this stick now to restore the original settings. If you don t have that stick you can order recovery media here:

It is in 2 minds as if there is even a recovery set in the box with the device, it is possible that there is a partition

The laptop is slow and the old man was doing the usual mush (navigation with no AV filter or spam) against my advice.

For any help or suggestion would be appreciated and if Toshiba watch, is it a regime in place for the drive to

    Hello

I think you have no chance because the Toshiba Recovery CD is mostly delivered with the laptop and you will find at the disk, only the drivers of Toshiba.
But these drivers, you can also download from the Toshiba page.

What you need, it's the recovery CD and this CD you can only order from the Toshiba service partner in your country. It s not very expensive.

However, the other possibility is to install the OS from the Microsoft Windows CD-ROM, and then install the drivers of Toshiba.
As I said above the drivers you can download from this site.

  • HD recovery folder / repartitioned Equium U400-124

My Equium U400-124 is a little and a couple of years, I have merged the two partitions to facilitate the storage of the data a bit. This left file recovery HARD drive in a folder named 'merged-partition-content' and all the rest of the main partition of C.

I now get to a point when I think that I should consider a return to factory default, but the boot process fails to find the folder in HARD drive recovery, and even if I used the hot spare when the computer was first purchased, how he would negotiate the new partition?

    Any ideas?

When the structure of HARD drive partitions is changed or moved from portable place original HARD drive recovery file will be confused and will conclude not just her more. For this reason, you are not able to start the installation of HARD drive recovery.

Now you can install Vista original image, I think, using recovery only DVDs.

How to fix this problem? That hurt that I could not create recovery discs? I would appreciate help with this problem.

    @lauriej

I'm sorry that you run also in this issue of recovery disc creation. You can also contact HP Technical Support at the 800.474.6836 to let them know that you have a problem, create the discs. As in the case of the CW4ZNS, the retailer may have created the disk but failed to give them.

You can also create your own disc of Windows 8, however. Perhaps this is a faster option for you.

Download the ISO of Windows 8 64-bit here

ImgBurnto burn the ISO to a disc.

If you need to use the drive, you will have to put the disc in, reboot and press F9 to the power of. Select your CD drive and start the installation. It will ask you the product key, and you can find that on the label of Microsft on the sides or the back of your computer. Once installation is complete, you will need to go to Your HP driver Page to download your drivers and software.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions on this

  • Problems of recovery. Help, please.

    Hello

I have the Hp Pavilion Dv3-4305se, which has the Windows 7 home premium 64-bit Edition.

I installed a game and started playing it then my phone locked, and I had restart it manually, after the reboot, (it started normally), but he stops just before the users page and used to give me a black page, I tried to make the recovery, but I faced the same problem.

I took it for someone who did a format (but left the recovery partition) and I installed a fake copy of windows 7 Professional. and now it works, but I want to do the recovery partition recovery and restore factory settings.

I tried to make the recovery, but I do not have the Hp Recovery Manager.

    Kind regards

PS: The recovery partition shows there 4.05 GB of free space of 33.75 Go.

    Hello

It may be that the recovery Partition is damaged or is inaccessible for another reason - your best option is to reinstall using your recovery DVD, as this will be not only to reinstall the original operating system, but also to recreate the hard disk recovery Partition.

If you do not have your recovery DVD, you can order a replacement set using the link below.

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

  • Why my PC does not recognize HD external & is why HP_Recovery (D :) when folder content is only 1.7 MB?

I have a desktop HP 64 bit PC which had a serious virus problem. My son has restored its system which was to empty his hard drive and lose all the programs stored on it.

The first time that I turned it back on this past a lot of time download and install updates. Earlier I turned it then turn it on again; once more the machine has passed a long time (more than an hour & half) download and installation of updates. While he was off, I plugged the external hard drive I had stored all my files to transfer them to its internal drive.

After I turned the PC back and waited until these updates have been installed, I opened "Computer" in the start menu. The external drive seemed not - only the following:

    Hard drives (2)

-OS(C:)-785 GB libre de 919 Go)

    -(D) - 0.99 free HP_RECOVERY of 12,06 GB

    Devices with removable storage (3)

    -DVD RW (e :)) Player

-CD drive (f :)) WD SmartWare)

    0 bytes free 442 MB / UDF

-[hp logo] CD (k) HP Smart Install player
    0 bytes free 16.0 MB / UDF

    "WD SmartWare" refers to the external hard drive, but the drive itself does not appear;

    IN ADDITION,.

Although HP_RECOVERY (D :) appears to be complete (12 busy Go, less than 1 GB free), its content - "Quick Installation Guide" and "Valorisation" files - contain less than 2 MB total content.)

    AND ALSO:

As I mentioned above, whenever I stop the machine it takes a long time to install updates and configuration as long when I power the machine back up (2 times so far). If this happen over and over again? (I'm about to turn off the machine again, and once more, he wants to install updates before you turn it off).

Any help/advice/suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thank you very much!

    -Joe

The HP recovery disk has a large Image of Windows which is hidden and cannot be displayed by the browser. In fact, you should never do anything with the recovery disc, any attempt to write a file could make inoperable recovery.

Attached disk open with the USB Manager and check to see if the drive is listed in the lower pane. The left box can identify as an outsider who will need to import until it is visible in the Explorer.

If the port is USB 3, it may need drivers load before a drive connected is displayed. After that a reconstruction, there will be a large number of updates to install, and they must be installed in phases is not uncommon to find updates are applied to a number of reboots. You can check the update history to see if specific updates fail, manually run the update to see the history option.

  • What happens when I restore my El Capitan mac to factory settings?

I currently have El Capitan and wanted to reinstall my Windows partition because I needed more space, but after deleting the partition and to set up the new partitions, I came across some problems during the installation of windows, in which he said that the drive was GPT partition or something like that. I've lost 3 days trying different solutions in various sites, including this and have yet to make it work so I decided to just restore my Mac for its original OS and reinstall my Windows then just upgrade to El Capitan again.

    My questions are:

    1. it would be the first time that I do this, but from what I've read and watched, what are the exact steps to restore my mac to its factory settings?

    a. restart the Mac.

    b. hold the cmd + r

    c. Select utility disk under the window utility for OS X

    d. Select the partition (Macintosh HD)

    e. clear it for OS X (journaled)

    f. utility disc close

    g. click on reinstall OS X under OS X utility window

    h. click on continue

    i. choose my drive

    j. click on install

    2. what would be the OS X installed on my newly formatted partition? Would it still El Capitan (my current operating system before formatting) or Mountain Lion (the operating system original on my Air mid-2013)?

recovery of the Internet will reinstall the last interaction of the operating system that was available

the air of 2013 came with 10.8.4 when he left, internet recovery restore 10.8.5

No, you do not have an option to choose something else.

  • Activation of the new key pro OEM windows 7, I bought

I have an old Toshiba A200 PSAF6A-0SQ01N (from Australia) which was confirmed
the Toshiba Australia is comparable to EU model PSAE6E for drivers (just the background).
The laptop has Win Vista installed.

I bought a new Win 7 pro key with download of Windows through ebay and burned it to DVD.
Then I shutdown windows and it set in motion by pressing '0' for the recovery and wiped
HARD drive (but left the recovery on the HARD drive partition). Windows 7 pro installed without
probs and I have included all the necessary drivers.

Just to check a second time prior to activation - is that what I should do prior to activation
or is there something special that needs to be done because the key of Vista installed at the factory?

When you install the clean version of Windows it has nothing to do with the original recovery image and you can enable it when you want. Install all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities, and I'm sure that everything will be OK. I installed Win7 on P200 without any problem.

The only thing is that now, after the installation Win7 you won't able to install original Vista of the partition. Original recovery image can be installed with recovery disks (DVD) only.

Win7 works perfectly on this old machine, so in general, you no longer need Vista.

  • Re: M100 change HARD drive

    Hello

I have an 'old' Portege M100 and I suspect a broken HARD drive. The laptop freeze suddenly and sometimes crash with a blue screen. Most of the time it will not start at all. I managed to reinstall XP with my recovery CD twice, without change.
I would like to change the HARD drive, but I read somewhere that the BIOS is actually on the HARD drive itself. Is this true? If so, how can I swap the HARD drive then? I also fear that changing the HARD drive will make inoperative recovery CD?

    Don't want to lose the M100 ;)

    THX,

    Kris

    Hello

As mentioned, the BIOS is stored on the ROM chip which is part of the motherboard.
To update the BIOS ROM module must be flashed.

The other thing is that the replacement of the HARD disk is not really complicated.
To my knowledge, you need the 2.5 IDE HARD drive.
Bay drive HARD bottom of the unit and it s fixed with screws.
If you remove the cover of the HARD drive Bay, you can easily remove the internal HARD disk.

In some cases, it s in the cradle and you need remove the extra screws (2 on each side) so of to withdraw his support.

  • DST-short failed: Windows 8 will not start after windows update.

    Hi, hope you can help.

Laptop does not start (just goes to blank screen, not same logo).

    Start-up then F11 I get F11... Lower-left system recovery

Finally, it goes in the HP logo and prepare the AutoFix and then clears the screen after awhile and then crashes.

Commissioning market then F10, I get ESC... Start to break down on the left

Finally, I get into test extended to the system and get:

    Processor control spent

Verification of Smart Drive hard past

Short hard drive DST check Failed

    Failure ID: 0u7r6c-6hq7gq-mfpx1a-60tv03

    Product ID: c6m50ea #abu

Is there a quick glance upward for these error codes?

I've seen similar errors, but different failure of id, most say replace the HARD drive.

I reinstalled and reconnected the hard drive, does not.

Powered off, removed the power cord and battery and drained (hold down the power button for 30 seconds) and reboot to anything will do.

I have now no functionality on this pc. If I have to replace (1 TB) HARD drive, should I get HP, a set of recovery/usb disks (Web url?)?

    Any help/advice welcome

    Cheers, Rob

  • OS for HP Compaq dc7800p Convertible Minitowers boards

    Gentlemen (and the occasional Lady).

I just bought a minitour Convertible HP Compaq dc7800p computer on the cheap.

From what I see, it seems almost not modified from its original configuration. It has an Intel Core Duo E6550 2.33 GHz processor, 2 GB of DDR2 RAM, a 80 gig HARD drive and DVD read/write.

HARD drive appears to have already disappeared completely - not even a left system recovery partition - so, no OS.

I ran HP Insight Diagnostics on it and everything passed the comprehensive test.

Now that I am fairly confident that it will work properly, I need to choose an operating system. It comes with Vista Business and I can get a replacement from HP for $11.00 drive. I don't know what service packs, where applicable, the hot spare. This would be a factor because I am limited to 56 k modem and these service packs would take a loooong time to download. But, all things being equal, I'd rather have Windows 7 Premium. The problem is that all things are not equal! A copy of Windows 7 is around $90,00 of distributors such as Tiger Direct.

I'm accustomed to Windows XP and have never used later versions of Windows. It is popular wisdom that Win 7 is greater than Vista in many ways, but it is $ 79.00?

I want this computer to take over the online activities of my XP computer because XP is more dangerous. I'll keep my XP machine and put any contact with the outside world when I'm pretty confident with a new OS. The HP machine will not be called to lift heavy objects - but that could change over time, as the HP is easy to upgrade.

Given the description of my situation, it would be more prudent to get Vista Business on Win 7?

Extended support for Vista is scheduled for completion in 2017, where I would then face the same problem that I have now with XP and I would find myself looking for a new OS once again. Win 7 will be supported until 2020. In the coming years a new version of Windows will be better than Win 7 to the point where I don't want to change operating system before 2020? This HP computer will be obsolete before then as to makes it unusable?

There are a lot of these questions without reply. The essential is that I'm a good sobbing market and I eventually get more for my money on a copy of $11,00 of Vista or $90.00 for Win 7?

Beyond that, I have other questions, but I'll fix it in another post. I went too long in this one!

    Thank you for your interest!

    Hello:

I have a dc7800 CMT (E8300 processor) that I bought for my wife and upgraded to W7 because I got an upgrade to W7 pro I used no license.  I installed 8 GB of PC2-6400 memory and use a graphics Radeon HD 6570.

I have for all of Vista Business 64 bit recovery disc to restore the original operating system should I decide to donate or resell the PC some days.

I had the other dc7800 CMT (processor E6850) for my mother and order the recovery disks Vista Business 32 bit for it.

Now, you can have a choice of the floppies to install Vista Business 32 or 64-bit.

The set of recovery disks you get should have included SP1 (mine do).

Then you will just need to DL SP2.

It was the first thing I did once Vista was installed before that I made another anytbing to download the Setup file of Vista SP2 Standalone directly from Microsoft.

If you do not ever plan on installing more than 4 GB memory, then the set of 32-bit recovery diskettes will suffice.

I put 4 GB of memory in the PC of my mother because I had 4 x 1 GB of PC2-6400 memory, laying around.

Windows 7 is a better operating system.  I call it "Vista that works."

But really the main differences are:

1 Vista seems to use more memory to run than W7, so more memory, you can throw to Vista better it works.

    2. the disk defragment tool seems to take forever to work.

    3. a few other minor quirks which I was able to use a few settings to make it better.

I have used many of the settings on the link below and my mother PC works fine on Vista Business 32 bit.

    http://www.thewindowsclub.com/make-Windows-startup-run-Shutdown-faster

I have disabled Vista Disk Defragmenter and use free Auslogics Disk Defragmenter that works just great.

If I don't have a W7 license for use, I would have been perfectly happy under Vista Business dc7800 of my wife.

I run Vista Business on an old notebook nc6400 and it works very well on that too.

Then... IMO, I have just spend the $11.00 and go with Vista. If you like it, then you have saved $ 90 million.  If you have not, you buy W7, and you may have professional Vista recovery discs use one day as I want.

A few final thoughts on the PC in general...

    1. make sure emulation sata in the BIOS storage section is set for RAID and IDE not.  RAID will be performing hard drive because it can take advantage of the native command queuing in RAID mode and it cannot in IDE mode.

Many of the dc7800 are used in enterprise environments and have been downgraded to XP Pro. I would not be surprised if a large number of defined system IDE controller administrators when they set up their corporate images, because if they understand not drivers SATA RAID/AHCI necessary necessary in their corporate images for this and later models, their image it not install if the BIOS is set to RAID mode.

It is the only native command Queuing does.

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_Command_Queuing

    2. set the boot order to boot from the hard drive first.  Who's going to shave a fraction of a second startup time.

You can always press the F9 key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to boot from another device.

  • Another Partition windows 7

    HIII all,.

I just bought a new computer hp laptop. It is "Hp pavilion dv7-4071nr 64 - bit" and it is only 3 left (C: /), recovery (D: /) and HP_TOOLS(E:/), but I need another left to save my own files, so if the (C: /) no matter what problem I can get to my own files safely.

Is it possible to have a new partition, irrelevant with (C: /) and without formatting my laptop or lose the other recovery partitions. I hope someone can help me with this.

    Thanks in advance.

    IM

If you use disk management there are 4 partitions, one is hidden from the Explorer 4 partitions is the maximum in Windows, you will need to delete the partition recovery or tools and then add this space on the C partition, and then cut the portion of C for the new 4th partition.

There is no real benefit to do so and you would lose access to partiions recovery and tools.

. Now make your recovery disks.

I suggest that you use the built in recovery tools manufacturers to create a recovery disc or create a system image. I noticed that the upgrade to a later version of Windows can make your inoperable recovery partition.

    Creating a system image:

You can use this to easily restore your installation of Windows 7, if you decide to come back.

  • Replacement has no HARD drive

I have a T61 with the Seagate 160 G 7200 RPM HARD drive.  The HARD drive has failed which led to the infamous BSD.  I was unable to use the recovery & rescue integrated as it fails, likely due to HARD drive problems.  So I purchased and installed a WD 320 G 7200 RPM Scorpio Blue SATA HDD.  I also called Lenovo and bought a set of rescue & Recovery CD.  When I launched the R & R set, it reports an error on Disc1 and continues to run in the recovery process, but dies with the error "there are no file list of modules.  In desperation, I reinstalled the original disc of 160 G and re-run R & R.  He was running very well and turned on my T61.  But I trust is more than HARD drive since he already had bad sectors.  So, I put the new 320 G disk HARD back in and I tried R & R once again.  I had the same error 'there no module do list file.  So, the mistake of R & R is related to the new HARD drive.  Hmm, I thought that I could clone the old 160G for the new 320 G HARD drive.  So I put the old 160G HARD drive in a USB enclosure and the new 320G disk HARD in the Bay T61 and run Acronis to clone from the old to the new.  As you can imagine the clone fails due to errors of area on the old HARD disk.  So, I'm stumped on how to get the T61 running with the new HARD drive.  Any ideas why R & R fails with the error "there is no file list of modules?

Well, I think I've solved my problem.  "When I was using the R & R disc set, an error will be generated on the recovery of the product 1 disk saying: ' the wrong volume is mounted" and telling me to reinsert the disk recovery & rescue original.  So, I then inserted the R & R disc and click 'Retry '.  The recovery process would then immediately ask product Recovery Disk 2 and start the process.  7 discs later, I would get the error "there is no list of modules file" and the process could fail.

This time, on the first 'bad volume' error, I left Product Recovery 1 in the drive and clicked on continue.  Now, the process has continued and the rest of the product disc 1 (which it didn't when I followed the instructions in the error message).  After that, everything flowed on properly and moved to the Windows installation that is running now - fingers crossed.

So, there's something funky in this error "wrong volume".  As to why it occurs with a nice new HARD drive and does not work with old HDD failure and why the error is not treated correctly by the resumption of the process, I have no idea.

BTW, the docs that come with the unit R & R are quite sad.  They do not match the process at all.  For $50, Lenovo could have done better.
