R61 intermittent rebooting

Hello. I have a Thinkpad R61, which has served me very well for about a year. I have a system to dual-boot with OpenSUSE 10.3 and Vista, and everything worked great until recently. In the last months, I started getting intermittent reboots to the system that I can't explain. They always appear when I run SUSE (which is what I use most of the time). The first thing that happens is that my computer hangs and will not accept any input, while the system restarts after about 10 seconds or more. After the system has restarted, the yellow light on the ethernet port turns on and flashes, which indicates a warning. Check/var/log in my personal directory shows:

dec 9 12:57:19 core of mercury: NVRM os_map_kernel_space: impossible to map 0xf0100000, invalid context!
dec 9 12:57:19 core of mercury: Uhhuh. NMI received for a reason unknown a0.
dec 9 12:57:19 core of mercury: you have a hardware problem, probably on the PCI bus
dec 9 12:57:19 core of mercury: dazed and confused, but trying to continue

If instead, I boot into windows, I get the same behavior and the following "Lenovo system Toolbox: error message

driver on Intel 82566 Gigabit Network Connection problem

Everything else works fine after the reboot. If I run the diagnostic box system tools on the PCI card, goes brilliantly (although I don't think that these tests are comprehensive). I can't imagine all that I changed which could have caused these failures. Thus, errors become much more frequent. Instead of an error once every two weeks, I get two each week right now. If someone saw, please let me know. I can't afford to be without my laptop for a long time, so if it isn't really a hardware problem, I don't want to send him off. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Resolved: I installed the latest NVIDIA driver for Quadro graphics card, and it works fine now. I had a few freezing problems in Vista lately, but that's a separate issue.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

    (1) make sure that you are on the latest firmware approved by your carrier:

    http://NA.BlackBerry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp

    (2) perform a hard reboot:

Whenever random strange behaviors creep, the best thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, this one suffers memory leaks and other... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

    (3) make sure that you do not have a ton of applications running in the background. Always close apps when you don't need them - not the back key or the red button, but rather the BBKey and selecting "close" or "exit".

    (4) see if you have memory problems:

  • Intermittently after the reboot, the option "Hide when minimized" in the Task Manager Win XP is too effective; the CPU usage icon does not appear in the notification area. Sometimes restart heals, sometimes not.

The Options menu of the Windows Task Manager includes "hide when minimzed ', to display an icon in the area of notification, but not on the traskbar. I leave that option checked all the time to control the percentage of processor; but sometimes without apparent cause, after I reboot there is no icon in the area. Is there a way to fix this?

    Hello ronks,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers community.

The reason for which the icon is not in the system tray is because the Task Manager is closed not minimized when you start your computer. To do this, you could do the following:

    -Go to my computer > C: > Windows > System32
    -Locate in Taskmgr
-Create a shortcut > right click on the shortcut > click on cut
-Navigate to my computer > C: > Documents and Settings > username (your username) > Start Menu > programs > startup
    -Paste in the startup folder

-Right click on the shortcut > click Properties
-Less run > pull down the menu and select Minimized > click OK > close window

Now every time that you restart the Task Manager will be launched in a minimized state.

    Hope this helps Chris.H

  • Intermittently, Firefox 7 stop the loading of pages, requires a reboot to fix. Why?.

During normal use, Firefox stops suddenly all pages in all tabs/windows loading. Each page load rest currently empty, with the message 'Connecting to _' usual. The new tabs or windows open or new page request, get stuck in the same loop. The program itself does not and, other than to not load the pages, normally. No change in behavior with all disabled add-ons. Seems to happen with any Web site, but seems to happen more often on pages with all the elements that take too long to load. Only the current workaround is to close the program and restart.

This isn't a router/connectivity problem, IE, and other programs can connect correctly while the problem occurs. Full system antivirus scan came up empty (Sophos/Ad-Aware/WinDefender). I think I start first of all having the problem with FF6, feels like it has become more common with FF7.

I have found a solution to this problem here (Finally, at least Firefox works again for the last few hours, don't know if it will prove to be a long-term solution or not).

As it says in the article linked, type Subject: config in the address bar, find Network.http.Max - connections and change its value from 256 to 48.

I have no idea why this works, but it seems. According to my resource monitor Firefox always seems to use a ridiculous amount of memory and disk, and my cpu fan is still crazy, but at least websites load again!

Is this solves the problem for someone else?

  • Computer hangs when rebooting and intermittently does not start power

When you restart the computer, it stops but does not restart. At the stop, the fan continues to run, and is turned on. To start the computer, hold the power for several seconds, waiting and power of the machine back on. Sometimes it takes several tries to get the computer to boot. Two things: there must be an easier way, and if I damage your computer in any way with this manual extinction?

    Hi head of I-d-10-T.

Try toclean boot to see if it's a program or process that is causing the problem to stop. Also, in Safe Mode, run your antivirus. If you do not have an antivirus installed, you can useMicrosoft Security Essentials to scan you computer.

  • Help: Exit HDMI DTS-DN850 intermittently stops working after startup. OK, after reboot.

Hello.  I recently started having problems with my SDR-DN850.  Almost every week or so, after turing the unit, no output is available via HDMI.  I get the error "to alert up to now' on the TV. No change on the receiver seems to make a difference (the first time this happened, I spent more than an hour of troubleshooting). After that I did the reset of the receiver (used in the power buttun until it), it works normally again.  Of course, I have to reprogram all my settings.  Then it works very well for a period of time, up to what happen.

Any thoughts before I have contact support?  It seems that it will be very difficult to correct because it generally works very well.  I fear an endless cycle of management of sending the camera, they are doing something, get back, reoccures problem after some time, send it again, etc.

    Thanks to a bouquet.

    Hello AutomaticEight,

Looks like the hand like a common problem where the HDMI output has been changed accidentally.  In the upper left corner of your remote is the HDMI output button.  If this button is pressed accidentally, you can as long as you mention.

Whenever you press the button, the output will be switched as follows:

    HDMI A - HDMI B - A + B - HDMI HDMI OUT

If you use only the HDMI A Output on your receiver STRDN850, being in the B HDMI or HDMI OUT both will appear as a No Signal on your TV.  You can check the current status on the display of your receiver.  To 'recover' the cycle of the HDMI return to your A. HDMI output

    Hope that this is sufficient,

    Chris

  • Firefox does not open Windows - intermittent - 10 pro

Once I click on the icon to launch the Firefox browser I momentarily have the little blue icon of waiting... then nothing.
I can use everything on the computer, including the border, IE, Chrome, and Safari.

If I go to Task Manager it shows Firefox without activity. I can summon a number of instances of Firefox all do the same thing... nothing.

If I finish all instances of Firefox in the Task Manager, then try to run Firefox again once it opens and works normally. I can run a number of instances, and they work as they should.

If I normally close all instances of Firefox, they may or may not work the next time I try to run Firefox (intermittent). If the browser does not, I repeat the closing the Firefox process in the Task Manager and then reopening it... It will work then.

I tried to do a clean install of Firefox without success. The same problem.
The new installation of Windows 10 pro (64-bit)

I have another laptop with Windows 10 with the same Firefox addons and same imported bookmarks etc. It works very well.

This is puzzling?? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thank you
    Peter

    Hi Fred,.

Thanks for your quick response. I tried your suggestion, but it did not work, but you got me thinking... Thank you.

What I did... I uninstalled Firefox and then deleted all the references in the window registry related to Firefox.
Then, I put the edge as default browser, restarted.
I then downloaded and did a new install of Firefox and set it as my default browser.
    Rebooted just to be sure.

    Yay! It works now.

  • intermittent problems / macbook air 2015 250 GB/8 G RAM / Yosemite 10.11.5

    Hello world

I have intermittent starting problems. Technician at the shop said that it is important to reproduce the problem so that they can provide recommendations for repair. This mac is still under warranty and if I want to do the repair, it must be respected, that is me being left without a computer for a few weeks. I tried several steps to solve and I'm not sure if it has been set of troubleshooting. Please see below for details.

13 July: tried to turn heard chimes, seen... progress bar on the mac, the computer stops

    • -restart the mac, called logo appears and it stops.
    • -J' tried reset SMC, it was answered, rebooted the mac, apple logo appears and it stops.
    • -WAITED 15 minutes, on the mac, it was completely start-up, but it stops after 10 minutes.

I went to the Apple repair center, controlling material by staff and it happened, reset the ESCM and LANDAU. For some reason, we couldn't reproduce the problem. It has worked well.

August 4: turn on the mac, punt managed could connect po... then he froze.

    • -made the hard reset, it fully charged, but it froze when I tried to log in
    • -did the reset once again, he lit. Clicking on my avatar, can you stop
    • – on return, he showed dashes flashing on the left side of the screen

    • -a tried to turn it back on, it showed the folder flashing with an exclamation mark.
    • -Restart the mac twice, but it showed the same thing.
    • -For access to the I tried the recovery disk, but it was inaccessible.

I went to the apple repair center, he showed the foder flashing with an exclamation mark. They tried to test the material (they have connected a cable to test), but the computer has failed. The technician said it's dead. I went home and did not want to send my mac for repair coz I was on a business trip.

August 5 - tried to turn back, until I did the reset SMC and he responded.

    • -He was able to start successfully, and he was able to log in. 15 minutes later, he stopped.
    • -Fact reset the PRAM and resetting the SMC
    • -in turn, and it has functioned and somehow solved the problem.

Now August 6, it still works very well, I ran the diagnostic Apple and it didn't find any hardware failure or display errors.

I don't know what to do. My mac is under warranty, but I couldn't replicate the problem and I'm not sure if it's a hardware or software problem. The technician at the apple Center said that it is better to reproduce the problem and observe the mac. I can't afford to be left without my cell phone. t

I installed the most recent application is the Vmware fusion (24 May), which is something I rarely use.

Hi Dabmeister, intermittent problems are difficult to diagnose.

As a first step, I suggest to use the Combo Update 10.11.6 to replace any system software that is corrupt.

    https://support.Apple.com/downloads/MacOS

The Combo update is a complete installation, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update, so you have to overwrite all files are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have previously applied. All your data and settings must be kept, but that said, you should always have a backup.

  • Equium A100-300 guard reboot

    Hello

I have an equium A100-300 that reboots intermittently, I took on the radiator and the fan and clean them as well as the new fat heat, I reformatted hard drive. When I can get it up and running everything seems fine, but then it restarts itself, a few times continuously or intermittently.

Sometimes when I disconnect AC power that I can get it to boot with just the battery, and vice versa sometimes it starts not high at all, it seems as if there is a bad connection somewhere but I have checked everything and can't seem to find anything wrong.

    Any response would be appreciated

  • Equium A100-027 - speaker works intermittently

    Hello

Has just developed a problem after my laptop Equium A100 - 027 for only two years.

Speakers began to intermittently fail. They worked last Thursday and then for a short time Friday. rebooting when I started the PC this morning but have stopped working this afternoon.

When I play a video (e.g. YouTube) there is no volume at all and yet when I open the volume mixer I see audio visibly displayed.

Any ideas on what the fix should be?

    Thank you

    Hello!

First of all, I would say you should test the helmet on the laptop. So you can determine if the problem is hardware related (internal speakers) or related software.

And have you checked for yellow exclamation marks Device Manager?

In addition, you should try to update the audio driver. You can find it on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

Moreover, what operating system you have?

    Good bye

  • Stops intermittently, then slowly gets worse - Satellite P30 133

    Hello
Since I bought this laptop in May 2005, he was always a problem of closing suddenly, and I'm still on the sector!

I did set it as high power and keep the CPU at 3/4, as well - this way the fans work best and the CPU do not overheat.

    That has been resolved.
Then it begins again (very rarely) without apparent reason.

I continue to 'all' of my computers updated (drivers included) and lately, when I started to make a disc HARD 'cloning' upward (to aid
Acronis) it starts back up and after a few minutes it stops. NOTE: I have done this since nearly 2005 with no.
problems and I have installed the latest update (Acronis), to try to resolve the problem.

The problem is the laptop, I use this program with other computers with no problems at all.
    Sometimes worked/sometimes not.

Lately (in recent weeks) he started to do it more often and I thought that the ext. HDD was gone (I don't believe it!) and I
replace the ext. (New) by another HDD, I had.
It worked very well. Then, the next time it does exactly the same thing (strangely, the other HARD drive seems recognized intermittently by)
Windows (I have connected directly using an IDE/USB cable).

    This isn't the end.

In recent days, I had this lapto stopping according to his good pleasure.
This morning, I turned on and after a few minutes, I found this out! -Please note that I too have a new battery.
Now, it starts, and as soon as she has finished loading windows it stops.
I disconnected external devices and still the same - there is no problem with the drivers.

The other day, when he stopped and I rebooted, windows told me that he had a problem with the Audio driver I have
installed by using the link provided.

Apart from that, I am completely in the S *.
    No help, no idea.

Battery and power supply are new and functional very well!
Instead of spending money (I didn't) on insurance which is a shambles and never used (!), I could have bought a Mac.

You can be very good with computers these days, but they are "mostly" worthy and all your efforts to keep them well - do
all your backups etc. are of no use and I am a person tidy by nature! What can we do? Use my old 386 or 486 - both still
well after 20 years of work?
I don't have a back facing upwards and I use it for business too.

    Hello

First of all it s very sad story and I understand your frustration
It of always awkward and painful if a laptop or a computer desctop don t run as it should.
Sometimes I wish that we would live ;) in the world of free software

    However, you deliver.
The close automatically and low suddenly may be related to problems of overheating.
I found that your P30 runnig for 2 years, so during this period the dust and debris could prevent cooling properly running modules.

Usually fans and fans of cleaning should improve the situation, and it helps to solve this problem. In addition, should be added the new thermal grease which is placed between the CPU and the cooling plate. This allows to absorb the heat generated by the CPU.

I put t know if you have enough experience to do something like that. So I recommend you to contact a technician of the laptop to help her.

PS: This is a user forum and you will encounter only Toshiba users who are trying to help other users. so I think that you shouldn't t expect any direct response from any people Toshiba ;)

    Best regards and good luck

  • WiFi, signal excellent, no interference but intermittently drops, needs to restart

I have two desktops running on my home wifi system, one is one HP, the other a Dell.

The HP is the closer to the top and has full signal strength bars, the Dell is rained off and half bars. I used the wifi inSSIDer monitoring program to check that I'm using a wifi channel that has all the other competing strong signals on it.  I changed wifi channels anyway to see if the problem changes and it does not work

The problem: from time to time, as often as once a day, the HP will lose wifi. If I wait a very long time (30 minutes or more), it will return itself. I normally reboot to get it back as soon as possible. It always returns with a restart, and once rebooted I'm good to go until the next day.

This loss of wifi only occurs on the HP, Dell has no difficulty on the network even if one gets a much weaker signal. At the same time, the ch has been the only WiFi (until I'm the Dell) and it had this problem all along.

Is there some setting wifi on the HP that could be causing this intermittancy? Is there some wifi setting that could find the signal immediately without having to reboot. Using "solve problems" (right click on the wifi icon) can not find the signal. Happens about once a day (not at a given time of the day) I saw with it, but it's annoying.

    Hello

You can buy a WIFI card for replacement on eBAY for less than $10.  Could you say something, about the performance and reliability of the card.

I suggest get back you to the original HP driver.  If this does not help the problem then replace the WIFI card.

The part number you posted of HP, HP p/n 638403-001, is for the 5390 RT and not a 6390.  You should correct your information to avoid confusion.

  • Conversion of Vista/XP on R61 problem

    Hi all!

It's my first time here and I really hope that someone will be able to solve my problem because I'm already desperate.

Recently, I bought the Thinkpad R61, model NF5DEPB with Windows Vista professional. I met problems with connecting to network wi - fi, an essential software for me did not work so I decided to convert it into Xp Pro. I have 3 CDs, labeled:

-Rescue and recovery CD for use with Microsoft Windows XP

    -Product recovery CD

    -Complementary product recovery CD

I followed the instructions provided by Microsoft Windows XP inserted, Rescue and Recovery CD Manual Conversion Kit, he opened a workspace, choose options were slightly different than the one given in the manual, but I chose the one that was the most appropriate in my opinion, kept pressing Next and then he asked a second CD (manual says it would be extra recovery disk) , I inserted it and it didn't recognize it. Then it does not recognize any CD of these 3, then in system information, I noticed that my HARD drive is off somehow, I can not boot from anything else that this workspace, the CD of rescue and recovery always opens, I can not restore any system, I can not finish installing impossible to reinstall Vista yet once, unable to restore the original settings HARD drive coz it tells me I have no HARD drive and I have no idea what to do now.

Is it possible to solve this problem, or only support can help me now?

    I'd appreciate any help!

    Good, solved =)

It turns out that there was some kind of a bug during reboot and the conversion could not continue, I had to repeat all several times until finally a way this has worked.

  • ProBook 6450 b-Win7 freezing intermittently - every 3-4 seconds, for a fraction of a second

    Hey,.

My Win7 64 bit 6450 HP ProBook b continues to stop responding (as if the gel) intermittently - for the fraction of a second after about 4 seconds.

Although he retains receiver input, for example if I type, nothing appears on the screen, but as soon as he comes back to life, everything they touch I pressed on will show on the screen. Same thing is on mouse clicks - say, I click on a tab in the browser, it will not pass here (or if I click several times, it shows even "not responding"), but after it becomes active, the right window will be shown, or Ctrl + F appear after slight delay. The most annoying side effect is frequent disturbances on web-surfing (probably because that when submitting the query retrieves the service goes dead!).

He got a freshly installed Windows7 (only five days) and I ran Windows Update as well. It's a working machine, and VS2008 is the heaviest software there... Apart from that he has MS Office, a couple of browsers, code - compare, Messenger, etc., our own software and do not forget the antivirus as well.

--> Yes, I turned off all unnecessary services, and put into service is obtained only the necessary applications, but for some reason I dared not stop / uninstalling HP services etc... Could be the culprit?

--> Yes, I put the Windows configuration for optimal performance (for programs).

--> It does same when nothing works, for example to test, after the reboot, I opened Notepad and start typing... the problem was there.

--> In safe mode (I checked with the networks on), he did not show it.

--> chkdsk /r and sfc/scannow said NOT everything was bad.

--> I tried to look at the resource monitor too for awhile (for memory), but it no never come in red color.

--> (Again...) Only the "necessary" services are running, everything is disabled / stopped.

    It's a HP ProBook M520 6450 b, Intel (R) Core (TM) i5 CPU, @2.40 MHz 2.40 GHz, installed Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB (3,80 usable), having a 64 bit Windows7 professional.

Any help, advice, suggestion would be great.

    Thank you

    Yogesh

    Hey...

As noted in any other forums, it came out as a hardware problem. Replacing my hard drive fixed it - now my ProBook and Windows7 - both are worth the money paid for it.

I had done almost everything - stopped all services, almost all uninstalled, but still the problem persisted. This one is a work laptop and only solution given by our IT team (to the problems that you can't solve yourself) is to format and reinstall everything, whereas I was looking here for some advice on this site saner. But then one day even start Windows stopped (started taking hours and days), I had to go, and told me that the hard drive of my 3 weeks died / is dying.

They replaced - new hard drive and a new Win7. I lost some data, but have found my peace (and speed)!

  • Intermittent: No Internet connection

On my HP TouchSmart 600-1055 running WIN7 64 bit family professional, I have intermittent problems. Sometimes the icon that looks like a bar graph in the lower right corner contains an asterisk to inform me that even if I have a wireless connection to my network, I don't have access to the Internet. The only way I can get access is to restart the computer.

Is there a command that I could run for re - initialize connectivity without having to reboot? Closing the connection and then reconnect in do not solve the problem. Troubleshooting can't find any problem. Open the network sharing Center was not so far assistance. There may be an option that I have to reset?

I really need a command that deletes this diagram to bars and resarts connection from scratch. I turned my router Cisco Linksys switch to no effect. I haven't touched my Bell modem 2701HG - G high-speed, because my connection is stable. This problem does not occur on any of my other computers on my network.

I also ran the HP Support Assistant, but everything seems OK, once I have an Internet connection. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

First of all, thanks a lot for taking the time to answer. I've delayed until I have studied it more in response to your suggestions.

You suggested a weak wireless signal. This computer is about 4 feet apart, so the signal strength is excellent.

Your comment that some parameters of intellectual property made a mistake was probably the cause of my problem. First of all, I have disabled my wireless and opted for a wired connection. Nothing like a direct cable connection to solve all my problems. Have a computer without problem a few days calmed me enough to try again. I redefined my wireless Internet connection. This product icon barchart containing an asterisk. Then I ran the Ethernet troubleshooting, wireless and other network cards. This allowed me to activate my wireless connection. Finally, I created a restore point. Creating a restore point has become my favorite after all command change s/w.

So far so good. Maybe the wireless knows that if she does not behave I'll replace it with a wire.

Your comments and your similar problems were exactly what I needed to hear. It would be nice if HP could allow some restore settings by default for each h/w device. MS has done this for IE.

Once again thanks for your help to solve this problem.
