RAC on EMC block devices

I finished installing a 11g RAC on RHELv5 using block of EMC for storage devices.
During installation I partitioned the drive and changed ownership in oracle: dba

However, whenever I restart the server, the property features block is returned back to the root and therefore CRS fails to come. So I end up doing a manual change ownership and permission to bring up the CRS, ASM and, finally, the database.

Is it possible, can I automate this?

Thanks in advance.

You can configure this in udev permissnion file. In OEL5, it looks like:

[root@rick oracle]# tail -8 /etc/udev/rules.d/50-udev.rules
KERNEL=="sdb1", OWNER="root", GROUP="oinstall", MODE="640"
KERNEL=="sdc1", OWNER="oracle", GROUP="oinstall", MODE="640"
KERNEL=="sdd1", OWNER="oracle", GROUP="dba", MODE="640"
KERNEL=="sde1", OWNER="oracle", GROUP="dba", MODE="640"
KERNEL=="sdf1", OWNER="oracle", GROUP="dba", MODE="640"
KERNEL=="sdg1", OWNER="oracle", GROUP="dba", MODE="640"

    Hello

I have a PIX running version 6.3 (1). The PIX is configured to use a Server 3.1 CSACS AAA authentication and authorization more GANYMEDE +. The sensor is 2.0000 Sig46 running.

Before adding AAA for the PIX, the sensor has been able to connect and set up to Shun correctly. Since the addition of the configuration of the AAA for the PIX, I was unable to get the sensor to connect to the PIX for fleeing.

I created a login and password with rights admin for the IDS sensor connect to create leaks. I could authenticate and build manually fled via a Telnet and SSH connection using this connection. I tried to remove and re-add lock several times.

When I configure the PIX as a blocking Telnet device, I see the State of the Net as "initializing" device when you look at the statistics of the IDM. When I configure the PIX as a SSH blocking device-, I consider the State as "inactive".

Please let me know if you have any suggestions - if not I guess I will open a case with TAC. Thanks in advance for the help!

Make sure the PIX is in the list of allowed hosts. From the cli, type

    end of config

SSH - key host (ip interface pix)

Check that you have associated the pix of polarity

logical device. The logical device record contains the username,

password password and activate. Using IDM, it is selected in a

  • Error adding a blocking device (PIX)

    Hello!

    Thanks for the quick response.

Now, I get the following error when I try to add a blocking for my IDS sensor device:

Error: peripheral Net done errNotFound refers to a configuration of device of shun record that does not exist. Update of the configuration attempt was rejected. [0.3]

    No idea why this error?

The sensor knows the firewall IP, username, the enable password and the password for remote access. SSH is enabled on the firewall. I tried to add the firewall as a trusted host, but I get the error:

Error: socket connection failed [4 111]

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Bercy

    I guess it's a sensor of version 4.0 or 4.1?

So then the first error "Error: device Net done errNotFound refers to a configuration of device of shun record that does not exist." Update of the configuration attempt was rejected. [0.3]"is easy enough to explain.

The information of user name and password are configured as a "configuration of the device shun' give you it your own name made.

Then when you add in the Pix as a device to manage you adress exactly your configuration of the device previously created "shun" (the name you made up).

Not quite sure what the second mistake is.

I suppose that you run the command:

    Configure the terminal

    SSH - key host 10.1.1.1

(replacing with your pix address 10.1.1.1)

It will establish a ssh connection to your pix and

display the server's key. You must accept the key if it is correct.

If you do not accept the key NAC won't be able to connect to the Pix using SSH.

NOTE: The Pix may also need to be configured to accept connections from the ssh probe.

  • 11g RAC - RAW Devices Configuration

    Hello

Please let me know if there is a difference in the configuration of RAW devices for 11g RAC compared to 10g.
For example in 10g, we would separate RAW Devices for OCR, voting disk, ASM spfile, archives log files and database files.

Please let me know if configuring RAW devices in 11g is different from that of 10g.

    Hello

all first with 11.2. directly use the RAW devices is no longer supported. However, you can use RAW devices below ASM. So if you use ASM for data files, archivelogs etc, then the ASM disks can be RAW devices.
Second: A general comment on Linux RAW devices. Have become obsolete from CRUDES Linux devices (I think with RHEL 5.3), so I recommend the direct use of block devices (which is possible since 10.2.0.2).

    No to your question:
With 11 GR 1 material has not changed the configuration of the CRUDE devices.
With 11 GR 2, the configuration has changed. See the Grid Infrastructure Installation Guide for additional and accurate information (on the installation, rights of user etc.).

  • RAC interconnect switch?

    Hello

We are in the process of migrating from a single instance database 10 g to node 2 RAC (Windows Server 2008 OS, EMC storage with 2 SAN,...) and we have some doubts about interconnection.

We have difficulties in the choice of speed of interconnection correct for the interconnection network, difficulties in the choice of the switch/switches...

    1. because there are 2 knots and 4 Ethernet cables to connect, whether to use one or two switches? With the help of a switch can be a solution, but one switch become a big single point of failure.
    2. the question of whether we can get in performance if we use 2 switches (collage,...)?
    3. as mentioned, there are 4 cables Ethernet, it is recommended to use 1 GB current switches that we use for the public network or buy 1 GB to be used only for the private interconnect switches?
    4. can we use simple port 16 or 8 GigE switches?

Maybe you can tell me to some switches GigE and SAN (for nodes - storage connection) that you saw that they work without any problem with CARS.

How can we better deisgn for interconnection networks?

    user9106065 wrote:

The best technology for a company of interconnection, especially for Oracle RAC is Infiniband. No Gig-Ethernet.

Think about the following - one of the objectives of the interconnection is Cache Fusion. Allowing a single node RAC read data blocks to an another RAC cache node via interconnection, instead of having to hit physical disks to read data on disk blocks.

E/s typical connection is dual fibre channel 2 GB physical disks (old technology - fiber channels today is 4 GB and more). Your interconnection, which is supposed to be faster, it's 1 Gb Ethernet.

How does make sense, when your Interconnect is slower, with less capacity and latency than the access to the actual physical disk on the pole?

1 Gb for RAC interconnect is a failureof IMO.

Looking at what the sellers. UCS provides an Ethernet 10 GB as Interconnect. But then, Cisco has dropped support Inifiband and pushes GigE as the solution. Oracle database machine (and Exadata Storage servers) using 40 GB (two ports) Infiniband RDS running as a protocol for interconnection to the slowest place and more CPU intensive UDP.

If you look at the architecture of interconnection of 500 bunches faster and the largest in the world, Infiniband for interconnection are used by a total of 2 867 854 cores to a peak of 41,678,845 GFlops.

GigE is used by a total of 2 510 404 cores to a peak of 26,754,468 GFlops.

IMO - if you want a good CAR you need good Interconnect and storage layers. And for the first, it is without a doubt Infiniband.

    Hi Steve,.

RAW or block devices are supported only when upgrading an existing installation using the already configured partitions. On new installations, using raw or block device partitions is not supported by Oracle Automatic Storage Management Configuration Wizard (ASMCA) or Oracle Universal Installer (YES), but is supported by the software if perform you a manual configuration.

    The above information is corret.
In my opinion, which is always supported in case of upgrade.
I did not write this because being support block and raw devices on this version.
With the release of Oracle 11 g 2 (11.2) database and RAC Oracle 11g release 2 (11.2), using the database Configuration Wizard or Setup to store files directly on the block or raw devices Clusterware Oracle or Oracle database is not supported.

    # chown grid:asmadmin /dev/rdsk/cxtydzs6
    # chmod 660 /dev/rdsk/cxtydzs6

Since the oracle user is the owner of the software grid in my case it would be

    # chown oracle:oinstall /dev/rdsk/cxtydzs6

  • LabVIEW interface with multiple blocks of Festo module

I am trying to connect with a block of Festo, but I can't. Here are the details:

I'm under Labview 2012 SP1 with IndComm-DeviceNet 2.2 pilot on a 64-bit Windows OS. I installed a PCI 8532 card NOR. I see the map to the MAX.

The block of Festo is built with the following Modules: CPX_FB11 (communications module), 4 analog input Modules, 1 Digital module, 2 digital modules followed by 32 Festo valves. (Image below)

Using DeviceNet PXIPCI Basics.lvproj I did the following:

In the project, right-click on desktop > New > targets and devices > existing target or device, discover an existing target or device...

Expand the node of DeviceNet Master Interface, DeviceNet1 chosen and added to the project.

A click on the newly added DeviceNet/device target > New > targets and devices...

Expanded the Festo Block "CPX_FB11" selected DeviceNet slave device and added to the project.

Initially, I received an error card technique 'EDS file no assigned' I solved this by following the direction listed here.

However, I'm unable to "see" anything other than the CPX_FB11 LabView. The tree view of the devices lists not analog, Digital e / s or valves. I can't operate the Valves and IOs digital or analog. When I run the entire project VI they then expire.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hi Jesse,.

I'm not entirely sure what the specific problem was. I kept getting strange behavior. Errors in LabView and on my camera from Festo. The EDS files change. So, I did as any natural born THERE would be worker, I rebooted.

Here are the steps I used to get this project going. In doing so, I found that to set up a DeviceNet device in LV2012SP1, no need to manually enter the data in file EDS. There is a tool to load files EDS. It dealt with issues I had in the previous Forum posts: here about loading files EDS in LabView and here regarding setting up a DeviceNet network.

    Environment: Windows 7, 64-bit processor. IndComm 2.2 pilot. LabVIEW 2012 SP1

Starting with the example LabView project: "Devicenet PXIPCI Basic.lvproj.

Add a DeviceNet master to a LabView project

    1. The project: right-click on my computer

      1. Select new

      2. Select the targets and the device (s)

    2. Select the option "discover existing devices.

    3. Select the discovered device.

    4. Click 'OK' (Note: in this case, my master is a card PCI of NOR-8532)

Add a DeviceNet slave device to a LabView project

    1. Right-click on the master device newly added in the project tree

      1. Select new

      2. Select the targets and the device (s)

    2. Select 'discover existing devices.

    3. Select the discovered device.

    4. Click OK. (Note: in this case my slave is a block of Festo CPX-FB11.)

Load an EDS file to the slave device

    1. Right-click on the slave device

    2. Select "Sheet"... »

    3. Click on add files...

    4. Navigate to the location of the EDS file.

    5. Select the file.

    6. Click OK.

    7. In the left pane, expand the data sheet newly added up to reach the node displays the version.

    8. Select the version.

    9. Click OK.

Check the device and file EDS

    1. Right-click on the slave device

    1. Select utilities

    2. Select the Panel of Test online

  • Select the option 'Device status' in the field of category on the left.

  • On the right, select the slave device, you want to check.

  • Click on "check the device".

  • Read the errors/warnings or lack thereof.
  • In my case I had errors in my EDS file. Basically the slave device was not defined for the correct number of bytes of input/output in the EDS, i.e. a wrong configuration file. To fix this I had to change the EDS file.

    Edit the file EDS

To change the EDS file, I used EZ-EDS , which is a freeware, devicenet specific EDS editor of ODVA.

I did my corrections and saved my file EDS. (After having saved my original, of course).

Remove the installed Labview EDS file

    1. Navigate to the following location: C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\NI-IndComm for DeviceNet\Datasheet

    2. Remove the sheet (Note: there is more that one datasheet added manually.) Additional EDS files come with the IndComm driver. Find the EDS file for the specific device that you want to replace and delete).

    I restarted LabView.

I went through the steps above again and loaded my new EDS file.

I saved the project and came out of LabView.

I rebooted the computer and the slave device.

I restarted the project and launched a VI.

I was able to communicate with the device. That is something that I had not been able to do before. And, in doing so, I discovered how the device speak and why were not each module. (I have a standard for my block devices EDS file, as it appears that LabVIEW is not capable of a modular system that requires an EDS file for each module. I could be wrong on that last part though, as there may be a setting on my real device. But it is unecssary in my project. So I do not consider this further.) Because I was using a standard file of the EDS, only a single slave device showed, and so the data for each module are in the stream of bytes returned to the DeviceNet network. Addressing each module is a question of analysis the bits and the bytes appropriate.

    Thank you

    Tennessee Paul

  • WRT1900AC - devices shown on the network map is not all visible in Windows 7 Explorer

I just bought the router 1900AC as substitute of plugin for my previous WRT54GL router using DD - WRT.

Each of the Linksys routers is configured for an IP 192.168.2.1 and each is configured to assign the device of intellectual property within this subnet.

Each router works (not at the same time of course) when it is attached as a secondary router behind my Telus ActionTec V1000H DSL Modem/Router.  All my LAN devices with Gb ports are now much faster.  Internet speeds are tremendous.

However, with the new 1900AC, my PC under Windows 7 router only see each other in the network of Windows Explorer pane.  In the content pane, I see my two Western Digital MyBookLive and my printer HP Laserjet devices, as well as media devices on my network.  But if I try to access a file (such as Notepad) and I select the network node, only the other PC appears in the list.

The network of the 1900AC map shows all devices without any problem.

The old WRT54GL router has also had no problem display all network devices.

Can anyone suggest how I can do all the devices visible to my Windows 7 Explorer?

WD (MyBookLive and MyBookLiveDuo) devices are connected to the ethernet ports.  Tablets connected via radio (a 2.4 Mhz and the other double 2.4 / 5.0 Mhz).

After rally for second level support technology of LinkSys and waiting for their call, I saw what I knew, and since all devices appeared in the plan of network from the router, but not in Windows 7 is the router, or my windows firewall should block devices.

My McAfee control center using I dropped the firewall and refreshed the Win7 network view - and all of a sudden all of the appliances were visible.  Problem solved.

Then, I entered a new rule of connectivity that disable the firewall for all devices in the range * 198.162.2, introduced the firewall to the top and then restarted my PC.  All devices have remained visible after restart.

Since each Windows PC has its own firewall, I repeated the process for my second PC.

I have concluded that when Windows 7 sees a new router assigns a new network name and the network name does NOT inherit from the previous router settings - even if the routers have identical IP addresses and assign IPs client on the same subnet.

For the benefit of third parties, if the router sees your devices but your windows PC does not work, drop your firewall and refresh your network view.  If the devices will be displayed, you must configure your firewall to let all devices in your same subnet.  This should apply to any firewall on any version of windows, I suspect.

TIA here is some additional info: uname - a - Linux 2.6.18 - 53.1.4.el5 #1 SMP Wed Nov 30 00:45:55 EST 2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux ls-l/dev/sd * - brw - r - 1 root disk 8, 0 16 Dec 13:49 / dev/sda brw - r - disc 1 root 8, 1 Dec 16 13:49 / dev/sda1 brw - r - 1 root disk 8, 2 16 Dec 13:49 / dev/sda2 brw - r - 1 root 8 disc 3 Dec 16 13:49 / dev/sda3 brw - r - 1 root disk 8, 4 16 Dec 13:49 / dev/sda4 brw - r - 1 root disk 8, 5 16 Dec 13:49 / dev/sda5 The PE2950 can see all LUNS: SANsurfer FC HBA CLI v1.7.0 Build 12 LUN information Menu 1: display specific LUN information 2: view all LUN information 3: return to selection Menu Note HBA : 0 to return to enter main Menu: HBA 2 0: QLE220 Port 1 WWPN 21-00-00-1B-32-1F-6F-E9 Port ID 01/01/00 - Port nom_peripherique: 50-06-01-61-3A-60-2C-F9 Port ID: 04/01/00 - product seller: DGC Product ID: RAID 5 product review: 0220 LUN: 0 size: 1012.00 GB Type: SBC-2 block device Direct access (for example, magnetic disk) WWULN: 60-06-01-60-C1-AE-1E-00-FC-26-A2-2C-5C-AB-DC-11 seller of the product : DGC Product ID: RAID 5 product review: LUN 0220: 1 size: 1013.00 GB Type: SBC-2 block device Direct access (for example, magnetic disk) WWULN: 60-06-01-60-C1-AE-1E-00-5C-4A-FB-3B-5C-AB-DC-11 seller of the product: DGC Product ID: review product 5: 0220 LUN RAID: 2 size: 1031.00 GB Type: block SBC-2 device Direct access (for example, magnetic disk) WWULN: 60-06-01-60-C1-AE-1E-00-84-0D-42-18-5D-AB-DC-11 seller of the product : DGC Product ID: RAID 5 product review: 0220 LUN: 3 size: 1031.00 GB Type: block SBC-2 Direct access device (e.g., magnetic disk) WWULN: 60-06-01-60-C1-AE-1E-00-20-F3-EC-90-30-AB-DC-11 seller of the product: DGC Product ID: RAID 5: 0220 LUN product review: size 4: 1031.00 GB Type: SBC-2 block device Direct access (for example, magnetic disk) WWULN: 60-06-01-60-C1-AE-1E-00-85-0D-42-18-5D-AB-DC-11 seller of the product : DGC Product ID: RAID 5: 0220 LUN product review: 5 size: 1020.00 GB Type: SBC-2 block device Direct access (for example, magnetic disk) WWULN: 60-06-01-60-C1-AE-1E-00-E2-6F-F3-37-5D-AB-DC-11 Hit to continue:-Port nom_peripherique: 50-06-01-68-3A-60-2C-F9 Port ID: 01-00-00 - product from the seller: DGC Product ID: review product RAID 5: 0220 LUN: 0 size: 1012.00 GB Type: SBC-2 Direct access (for example block device (, the magnetic disk) WWULN: 60-06-01-60-C1-AE-1E-00-FC-26-A2-2C-5C-AB-DC-11 seller of the product: DGC Product ID: review product RAID 5: 0220 LUN: 1 size: 1013.00 GB Type: SBC-2 Direct peripheral access of block (for example magnetic disk) WWULN: 60-06-01-60-C1-AE-1E-00-5C-4A-FB-3B-5C-AB-DC-11 seller of the product: DGC Product ID: RAID 5: 0220 LUN product review: 2 size: 1031.00 GB Type: SBC-2 Direct access (for example block device (, magnetic disk) WWULN: 60-06-01-60-C1-AE-1E-00-84-0D-42-18-5D-AB-DC-11 seller of the product: DGC Product ID: RAID 5 product review: 0220 LUN: 3 size: 1031.00 GB Type: SBC-2 block device Direct access (for example, magnetic disk) WWULN: 60-06-01-60-C1-AE-1E-00-20-F3-EC-90-30-AB-DC-11 supplier of product: DGC product ID: RAID 5 product review: 0220 LUN: size 4: 1031.00 GB Type: SBC-2 Direct access (for example block device (, magnetic disk) WWULN: 60-06-01-60-C1-AE-1E-00-85-0D-42-18-5D-AB-DC-11 seller of the product: DGC Product ID: RAID 5 product review: 0220 LUN: size 5: 1020.00 GB Type: block SBC-2 Direct access device (e.g., magnetic disk) WWULN: 60-06-01-60-C1-AE-1E-00-E2-6F-F3-37-5D-AB-DC-11 modprobe.conf:-alias eth0 bnx2 alias eth1 bnx2 alias scsi_hostadapter megaraid_sas alias scsi_hostadapter1 qla2xxx install qla2xxx/sbin/modprobe qla2xxx_conf; / sbin/modprobe-ignore-install qla2xxx remove qla2xxx/sbin/modprobe - r - first time - ignore-remove qla2xxx & {/ sbin/modprobe - r - ign ore / deleting qla2xxx_conf ;} options qla2xxx ConfigRequired = 1 alias scsi_hostadapter2 qla2xxx_conf alias scsi_hostadapter4 qla2400 options scsi_mod max_luns = 255}
