RAC/standby enviornment configuration - wise database

Hi, our final migration is to get very close. I put in place/all configured according to oracle MAA, and if all goes well, after migration, the system will be more stable than the previous enviornment.

However, I have a few questions here on the memory settings and others.
Our operating system is linux redhat 5. DB are 11.2.0.3
Primary 2-node RAC, standby 2 RAC nodes, as well as a stand-alone intelligence.

I would like your opinion good guys are the ones good enough? Our previous environments are AIX db 11 GR 1 material. Our two primary node RAC kept having node evicitons every two months looks like (previous DBA set up). and I don't want it in my new environment.

Thank you in advance.

Hello

Most evictions show cause of loss of network connectivity between the nodes, consumption of resources on the nodes that prevents processes like ocssd, oprocd and cssdmonitor.
can not read the voting disk, unforeseen failures or crashes...
Also if there is any inconsistency of patches on the nodes also can cause expulsion of node. so ensure some patches must be applied on all nodes and try to apply the latest security patches. Expulsion of node is not the only reason for some parameters of the SGA.

I installed the memory target = 43904M, not configured hugepage (SA do not know how and I don't know if it will benefit). Our application is a busy ticket office enviornment. I want to be sure the settings that configure cannot handle the load, no evicitons node, etc..

There are certain advantages with hugepages, the page size value can be set 2MB instead of 4 k also some memory used by hugepages will be spent.

I suggest you pass by with links below.
Very large memory capacity and HugePages - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b32009/appi_vlm.htm+
SGA-tuning with HugePages - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b32009/appi_vlm.htm#CACIBJBB+
* HugePages on Oracle Linux 64-bit [ID 361468.1] * +.

And the SGA size settings. This must be analysed once it goes Live , we can't predict now.
It purely depends on how buffer hit ratio, physical reads and so on... Once the direct sound, you can use advisors or the AWR reports to see any change in CMS/memory...

I'm sorry can be provided information not very useful. These days am not in contact with CARS. :)

  • Configuration of database event view 4.5

    I have some difficulties to the addition of the database of the event view 4.5. It's a SQL Express 2005 on the vCenter server. It is configured to listen on port 1433 static. I use SQL authentication and a SQL account. I've attached screenshots with the settings. I keep getting 'an error occurred' trying to configure the database that someone here knows what I'm doing wrong? I think maybe the name of the database must be in a different format, but I have tried different things without success.

  • Steps to upgrade spirit RAC Standby Database?

    Hi all

    I RAC environment with 8 knots (4 Linux) I have a knot like physical standby for this CAR.

    My oracle is 10.2.0.3, and I want to update 10.2.0.5

    Could you advice I do not like, when I googled I found that I must begin by Clusterware before then?

    Any recommendation?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    If you follow the second link I posted, all necessary measures are there, even if you have some CARS, it is explained here. Take a look at chapter "B.2 upgrade Oracle database with a physical Standby Database in Place", and if you have any questions post here.

    ARM

  • Mrp for RAC RAC Data guard configuration configuration

    Grid infrastructure: 11.2.0.4

    DB version: 11.2.0.4

    OS: RHEL 6.5

    Never configured dataguard to the prior CFR.

    We have a production of 3 CARS DB nodes and we plan to implement a physical standby 3-node DB with real-time applies for this prod DB.

    In a RAC database, we can only configure one mrp on the side waiting. Thus, apart from the day before, we decided to use Node3 to run MRP. We send redo all instances as stated above on the primary side

    Configuration side Step1.Primary

    Thus, in the all 3 instances of primary DB, we will configure LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 as follows.

    Again all 3 instances should now point to Instance3 Node3 break-in:

    ALTER SYSTEM SET LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 = 'service =acmsprd_dr0_tns delay LGWR SYNC AFFIRM = 0 DB_UNIQUE_NAME = acmsprd_dr0 VALID_FOR = (primary_role, online_logfile)' scope = both;

    Where acmsprd_dr0_tns is the following entry of TNS. As you can see, this name TNS tip to the side instance3 ensures

    acmsprd_dr0_tns =

    (DESCRIPTION =

    (ADDRESS_LIST =

    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = yrmst197 - vip3.apac.strcld)(PORT = 1521) .net)

    )

    (CONNECT_DATA =

    (SERVICE_NAME = acmsprd)

    (INSTANCE_NAME = acmsprd_dr03)

    )

    )

    Configuration of Step2.Standby side:

    Instance3 side Eve in Node3 in, start the MRP with real time apply

    sqlplus / as sysdba

    bootable media;

    change the database recovery managed standby database using the current log file disconnect;

    Nothing wrong with my steps above? Is there anything else I should do with respect to mrp?

    Thus, apart from the day before, the RFS process in each node will apply again he received primary for SRls independently to know if the mrp runs in this node. Right?

    Incorrect answer. RFS does not apply again as you said. RFS receives that again. However, RFS on all standby nodes can receive redo of any process of LNS on any node of the primary.

    It is the MRP which makes it apply, no RFS.

    Hi Brian,.

    You said

    "It is not necessary to attribute a SRL to a specific thread. This means that it is possible (and this is how I set up my backup RAC databases) for a SRL be used by any instance, no thread. »

    When you configure dataguard RAC DBs Eve (or primary DBs), add you the newspapers of recovery sleep without THREAD clause as below?

    alter database add standby logfile Group 1 ('+ ORL_DG1', '+ ORL_DG2') size 500M;

    alter database add standby logfile Group 2 ('+ ORL_DG1', '+ ORL_DG2') size 500M;

    alter database add standby logfile group 3 ('+ ORL_DG1', '+ ORL_DG2') size 500M;

    I dot does not specify a thread when creating my SRls. There is no reason to do so. Just that if you have X son of your primary and each thread has groups of newspapers make there, and then create of X * Y SRL in the day before.

    While you create the SRls, remember to create in primary school as well. You'll want them at the primary level to support the transition to the future operations.

    If this is the case, in any node Eve RFS can apply again to roll forward pending any newspaper in the standby database. Right?

    Often when people have discussions like this, it hurts ensure us that we are semantically correct otherwise, we can easily get confusing terms...

    In this case, RFS can write to any SRL, since they won't be assigned to a specific thread. And the SRL is not written in alternating as the ORLs. Then you can definitely see some of the SRL files never get used if you don't have enough flow to make to justify.

    I stay away from the term applies when the MRI because apply is that means MRP. Terms of mixing can sometimes lead to confusion on the road, that's why I would make sure to use the term appropriate to the discussion at hand. I started this answer indicating that RFS is not the 'applies' because of the way the term should be used. That I get to this part of your last post, I see that maybe we get mixed up words that's why I wanted to sort them.

    See you soon,.

  • Configuration of database running on the server with 256 cpu

    Hi all

    We have a rac 11.2.0.2 on Solaris 10 installation.
    The servers are 2 and a short configuration is:

    SQL > show parameter cpu_count
    VALUE OF TYPE NAME
    ------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------
    cpu_count integer 256

    psrinfo | WC-l
    * 256 *.

    There are a lot of settings Oracle automatically design based on the number of CPUs.
    In my case, this number is too high.

    For example, normally db_cache_size = 4 MB * cpu, in this case the result is 1 G of db_cache_size.

    The plan is to create several databases on this car, so the question is:

    Is there a way to design or to tell oracle a different number of cpu?
    and in general...
    You have some tips on how it is possible to configure a machine so powerful that runs a large number of instances?

    Thanks in advance

    Published by: Spugna on May 7, 2012 03:01

    Hi Spugna,

    Of course, as long as you use Oracle 11 g you can use Instance Caging to limit each database, the CPU usage. Although it is no longer applicable to the single server database or a CCR node I see no reason why not to use with RAC. Look here for more information:
    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E14072_01/server.112/e10595/dbrm007.htm

    You could also consider the consolidation of these different in a large database of databases if it is possible and there is no dependence application?

  • 11g RAC - RAW Devices Configuration

    Hello

    Please let me know if there is a difference in the configuration of RAW devices for 11g RAC compared to 10g.
    For example in 10g, we would separate RAW Devices for OCR, voting disk, ASM spfile, archives log files and database files.

    Please let me know if configuring RAW devices in 11g is different from that of 10g.

    Hello

    all first with 11.2. directly use the RAW devices is no longer supported. However, you can use RAW devices below ASM. So if you use ASM for data files, archivelogs etc, then the ASM disks can be RAW devices.
    Second: A general comment on Linux RAW devices. Have become obsolete from CRUDES Linux devices (I think with RHEL 5.3), so I recommend the direct use of block devices (which is possible since 10.2.0.2).

    No to your question:
    With 11 GR 1 material has not changed the configuration of the CRUDE devices.
    With 11 GR 2, the configuration has changed. See the Grid Infrastructure Installation Guide for additional and accurate information (on the installation, rights of user etc.).

  • RAC and standalone 10g EE databases on Solaris containers, ¿certified?

    Hello

    I said to check if it is possible on the same server running Solaris 10 coexists a RAC database and a stand-alone database, two g 10 EA.

    Containers would be used, therefore, with regard to the information to the I saw on Metalink, databases that are not CARS are certified to work on global and non-global containers and Oracle RAC is not certified nor supported in local containers.

    So, I think that the only option would be to install RAC on the global zone and the standalone database on a non-global zone.

    And my question is, if we should go for this configuration, it is certified and might have the support of Oracle?

    Thanks in advance.

    You're right, rac is not supported in solaris zones/containers. I think what you're suggesting (instance of rac and clusterware in global and sometimes unique area in containers) is supported, but please consider that your rac database could get expelled from the cluster for a reason or another which means a reboot of the server that would take also down all instances of monkey.

    If you are on SPARC CMT you can use LDOMs.

  • Configuration/ACS database consolidation

    Hello

    I have two ACS servers.

    One is the 2.4 version and the other is the 3.0.2 version.

    My wish is to install a third ACS 4.0 server which will replace the other two.

    I had planned the following steps:

    1 - upgrade versions 2.4 (srv1) and 3.0.2 (srv2) for 3.0.4.

    2 - export using tool CSUtil configuration of these two servers data;

    3. manually consolidate all data;

    4. install the new server with the version 3.0.4.

    5 - import using CSUtil data consolidated on the new server.

    6 - update the new server after version 4.0 recommended upgrade path.

    All comments on these steps?

    Y at - it no special mechanism/tool to consolidate the configuration from two separate servers for GBA?

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

    Ricardo

    Ricardo,

    We cannot export devices with csutil. What we can do is to search for devices on GUI and download a CSV of the search result.

    DBSync does not database between ACS servers synchronize. DBSync uses a csv file to add devices/users in bulk. So if we create a CSV of users and devices we can import in ACS. More info about dbsync to: -.

  • Turning to Oracle RAC to the only Oracle database

    Hi all

    We are responsible for "make a copy" of Oracle RAC database a customer and our plan is to finish with the FCAC and allows you to host a new unique Oracle database. Very few of us familiar with CARS and looking for suggestions on how to do it (without affecting the source JAR).

    Can take a full expdb of the source database and simply use impdp to import into the standalone database server?

    Comments/suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Can take a full expdb of the source database and simply use impdp to import into the standalone database server?

    It is an option. Data pump does not care if the source and/or destination is CARS or a mix. If the database is too large, it can take a lot of time to complete.

    Another option is to use the DOUBLE of RMAN feature. And another option is to restore the database from a backup.

  • P6 Configuration of database API

    Hi all

    I try to install the Java API of P6 (local mode only), and I have problems with the database Configuration step. Anyone seen this before?

    The P6 database is on a Microsoft SQL Server 10.0.2573

    I get all the details ID password etc, and then when I hit the next button, it just hangs and the only way to shut down is to close the associated console window.
    I use pubuser but have also tried it with a server admin user.

    I ran a trace on the SQL Server and it seems to connect to SQL Server fine, but then does nothing else.
    It also shows the disconnection when close the console window.

    If it helps at all, when I run the 'general' demo, I get
    ERROR - Configuration was not found in the database
    ERROR - Configuration was not found in the database

    which I guess because the db configuration has not been yet defined upward.

    New development API P6 so I'd appreciate any help, even if it's just point me in another direction.
