  Normally when Windows is installed after the "Master Boot Record" of Ubuntu, MBR, will be overwritten. You can boot from a LiveCD and repair the MBR. However, there are 2 different approaches.

  If you are not getting paid for it, you may want to have the owner that the equipment tested.  I doubt that all this is due to software on a recovery disc or Windows installation disk.  The prime suspect is the optical drive.  If clean you and problems persist then the unit needs a clean bill of health.

I had originally check my volumes a recovery when yosemite initially deleted to repartition my hard drive and reinstall windows. I really don't know what to do, any help would be appreciated.   All you have to do is just create a virtual machine in Windows 7 and you walk through the Wizard New VM just to leave the empty Windows product key on the Easy Install sheet and keep moving forward.

  Then once you have installed VMware Tools just follow the steps in Clean install Windows 7 with upgrade media to activate Windows.
