Re: Question of GPU

I have hp dv6 7202tx desire and I want to upgrade to a GTX 780 M GPU previously GT630m. If it can be improved to the GTX 780 M on my laptop

Hi hery_downhill,

Welcome to the HP forum!

You have the best experience, I would like to draw your attention on Learn how to use the Forum and more.

It's unfortunate, but when I check your HP dv6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide of ENVY, I find no chips recommended replacement.  Therefore, you can not replace the GT630m by the GTX780m.

    Hi all

I'm about to set up a new system to be used mainly for After Effects CS6 and first CS6. I have some difficulty to choose good GPU... If anyone of you could take the time to answer these question for me... It would be greatly appreciated!

-J' read the GTX 7xx with structure of Kepler are not taken in charge/CUDA cores are not used, this is true for do they work well?

-Is this a good video card (with 1000 + CUDA cores) help only for speeding 3D drawn with RADIUS, or the overall editing experience will be faster as well? ("seen live" when editing 'normal video', as well as the final minutes?)

-What are the critical factors to look for in a video card for editing? (GDDR RAM, Base clock, memory speed, Memory Interface width, hearts CUDA memory bandwidth) I mainly work with 1080 p digital SLR video and video effects, not a huge amount of 3d text, etc.

-If I would choose the GPU as renderer, the work will be done only by the GPU, of goes it's just 'assist' CPU?

-So far, I think the GTX 760 would be a good option, what is your opinion on this map for the edition of EI? It would be a good choice or a 6xx GTX or GTX 580 will be a much better option? My budget for the entire system (without monitor etc.) is maximum. 1000 euros.

-Would be to buy an SSD to store the program files and project files, be useful? Or that does not increase the speed in the edition of too?

The system that I have on my mind so far, recommendations and changes are welcome...

For first GPU acceleration is completely different than the acceleration of AE Ray Tracer. The specifications and the ram and CPU GPU core/clock system absolutely effect the performance of the first reading. That means selecting the correct GPU comes from an acceleration of MPE of first and the flow of work/support used. The concept that comes into play here is the processing latency. An old card with 1 GB of vram and a single or dual core CPU may be able to read a single stream of 1080 by itself without any scale. However, as soon as effects or alterations of the frame are added, then the time it takes for data to the cpu, the buffer in memory to live and then process through the GPU is long to keep reading. The speed of the clock of the CPU, Ram and GPU/Vram come into play as to how long it takes to this complete piping process. The amount of threads and cores to decide how much data can process at any point in time. The more layers and effects to deal with the more data that must be processed in a segment of the time required for reading, changes of images. This is similar to the amount of water through a pipe. This may be increased either by increasing the size of the pipe or pressure of the water in the hose of the water how fast is introduced into the hose. These two aspects have their limits depending on where the water is coming and going and what are the minimum requirements. It normally takes a balance between both the pipe size and the amount of water/pressure sent through the pipe. However the volume of water required for any segment of time over two aspects need to be increased. That is to say this translates on clock speed corresponds to the water pressure and threads of equal size. DSS also have a significant aspect dealing with latency. The latency of the SSDS is a fraction of the mechanical controls. This means that the amount of time it takes for SSD drives to manage all of the read or write requests made by the application is significantly lower. This results in lowering of the amount of time reader queries affect the overall performance of playback in real time with how fast the files are written. Codecs with different data rate requirements, often times SSD drives are cheaper options to handle data rates normally requiring an important raid configurations that are expensive. SSDS also many more applications at the same time manage which means by putting more operations on a single disc. The result is often better performance with a calendar or more complex compositions.

Comments on GPU specifications not really have an impact are relative to the AE only. This is absolutely not the case for the first, SOUL and Speedgrade, or almost any other application to GPU acceleration.

  • Satellite L50-B-1F9 - question AMD GPU R7 260 m

    Hello

I bought this toshiba laptop with a double GPUT (Intel HD and R7 m260), but after a year of owning this notebook I stumled on this problem which I didn't know before.

My R7 card seems to be broken or not active for some reason any. When I go to hardwaresettings and disable my card intel HD and try to start a game, I find myself with a 5 ~ 6 IPS. However if the Intel HD adapter is enabled and that the disabled R7 my fps skyrockets to 70 ~ 80 fps. I find it very strange due to the fact that A7 card must be much greater than my Intel HD.

I searched for a solution on the internet but the only thing I tripped had other customers with exactly the same laptop and exactly the same problem. So I was hoping to find some help here

    Thank you in advance.

As you say; the laptop supports the internal graphics (Intel HD Graphics 4400) card, which is part of the Intel CPU and ATI GPU Radeon R7 M260 externally which is much stronger than the Intel HD graphics card.

It seems really strange to me that the external ATI GPU provides better performance.
I think it's just a mistake or a misconfigured system.
    Please check this YouTube clip:

It shows you how to switch to the ATI GPU and get better performance.

  • GPU on a budget for CS5

Hi, I have a question of GPU here.

I work with AVI files and AVCHD (body of Adobe CS4) and I intend to migrate to CS5 soon. Can you please advice me what should be the minimum specifications of the GPU to enjoy the feature of CS5 mercury? What brand?

It comes to my current card: MSI N250-GTS-2D1G-OC 1 GB GDDR3 PCI-E

    http://www.FutureShop.ca/en-CA/product/MSI-MSI-N250-GTS-2d1g-OC-1gb-GDDR3-PCI-e-video-card - n250-gts-2d1g-oc/10136155.aspx? path = 43a8c5e5a1a9380698ff458429e6507cen02

Given my workflow (2-3 video layers, color correction through the layers, for most AVI files), I notice a significant improvement if I spend such as GeForce 285 or should I rather stick to my current GPU and invest the money in the memory live extra?

    Thank you!

  • HP pavilion AMD 500 - 259 10 670: update video card

I currently run an A10 AMD 670 k with a very R 7778 jasmine and a radeon R7 240 2 GB GPU motherboard. I seem to other posts on this topic but I wanted to start another I have never someone with this configuration seen questions on gpu upgrades. I would like to know if a gtx 960 will work on this configuration of HP.

Thx for any help at all

    Greetings,

I'm running an EVGA GTX 960 4 GB SCcard in a 810-150se desire. Not exactly the same motherboard as yours.

This PC (810) was built in November 2013 and UEFI BIOS. Your PC is most recent. The 810-150se sport PCIe 2.0 PC so the new EVGA card is backward compatible and works fine.

I made sure that all previous Nvidia software and drivers have been uninstalled before installing the new card. This process, surprisingly, took about seven or eight uninstall and restarts until all previous versions of the Nvidia software had disappeared. Maybe it's not the case when moving from AMD, Nvidia, which removes several versions of the AMD software and drivers before installing the new graphics card.

Also disabled the start safe and active start inherited in the EFI (BIOS) before installing the new graphics card.

    See you soon

Hey I was wondering why you bought a 4790 (k) and not just a 4790? The R2 cannot be overclocked. To answer your question of GPU... (as long as you have a 330 Watt power supply) I ran a GTX 970 a few months with no problems at all and I am now under a GTX 980 and have had zero problems. Just make sure you buy a style of reference card otherwise you will have problems of heat.

  • HP Pavilion Elite m9340f replacement video card and power supply

    Hello

I bought my HP Pavilion Elite at Best Buy m9340f in 2009 and brought it to the Venezuela where I live now.

My video card, started making the noise of the typical fan geforce 9500gs can do. The temperature of the gpu is very high (from 73 ° c without playing or watching videos!), and I'id like to replace it as soon as possible before my material fails completely.

But the power supply 350w, to replace any video card decent needed to change my diet too. I have not the slightest idea of what type of power supply should I buy, and if I should replace the case too. My intention is to keep my cpu, my mother, my hard drive and my ram (purchase of a new system to the Venezuela is out of the question because of the barbarian prices in this country).

Then to take the questions in order, I'll here:

-I want another video card (geforce 9500gs is known for his failure, so I want to upgrade to a more powerful card)

-To do this, I need another power supply, so I need recommendations on the provision of market models which CORRESPOND to my HP Pavilion Elite m9340f or

-replace also the case: what kind of business should I need that corresponds to the motherboard of benicia

    Thanks in advance

The information below was previously published by Big_Dave in response to several other posters about their questions about GPU upgrades. Prices shown are in U.S. dollars and for American retailers.

Your PC has a 350 Watt PSU if below video cards will work:

    $50--->NVIDIA GT 430 9.6 Gbps - single slot width

    $65--->NVIDIA GT 520 8 Gbps - single slot width

    $80--->NVIDIA GT 440 25.6 GB/s - single slot width

$130-->NVIDIA GT 545 43 Gbps - location single width - could be hard to find but perhaps only in the store

$110-->NVIDIA GT 240 1 GB DDR5. 54.4 GB/s - single slot width. This card does not support DirectX 11 which is eventually used in some of the latest PC games but it's a great performer.

Review the performance of NVIDIA specifications. Look at the specifications of strip memory bandwidth and level of DirectX support.

I normally don't recommend video cards AMD for PC with a 350 Watt power supply as AMD provides 400 watts or more for most of its video cards.

It will be able to run programs of CS5 Production Premium smooth? It doesn't have to be blazing fast, good video editing now is really just a hobby since I was still in high school, but I intend to pursue a career in the film industry in my future. Also, I have a budget of about $1,700, I try to not spend more and more all the remains (blu - ray, os, monitor, case, etc.) comes to $1833 more transport ($1785 without) but any suggestions are welcome. In addition, one last question, the GPU will be enough? On the requirements page, he has this (very small) list of compatible GPUS and it is not very clear at all, but I think I saw where someone said that even a $30 GPU will be OK...

Today was my first contact with the results of a system of hexacore dual Opteron (total 12 cores) and IMHO results were disappointing. Of course, there are several differences in discs and the video card configuration, but in comparison with an i7 - 9xx system, it was really disappointing side MPE and the rest was also significantly slower than i7 systems. In about two weeks, you can see these results when PPBM CS5 can appear.

What I mean is that AMD is not the processor of choice.

You can never have enough memory. According to the mobo, 6 or 8 GB is about less convenient, but there is a significant profit to move to 12 or 16 GB. The old rule that just use a $30 card, is no longer true with CS5. MPE provides gains enormous, but at a price.

If you go to the 'Panorama' tab at the top of the page, a drop-down list appears with the items that may be worth reading, one of them on the rules of storage and another on Raids. Take a look.

  • Question GPU on Qosmio G30

I have a problem - it seems that the GPU is fried on my Qosmio G30.
But the problem is that I bought my laptop in Russia and now I'm in the United States.

So the question is - is it possible to repair my unit in the United States?

    Hello

All Toshiba laptops are covered by a warranty one year international limited in the workshop.

Since it is an international interest, the laptop could also be repaired in the United States.
    That s my personal opinion.

But everything else should be clarified with the authorized service provider.

So, my recommendation is. Contact the ASP United States and ask for later handling.

    Goodbye & good luck

  • E30 GPU Intel HD Graphics P3000 and GTX560Ti... Question?

I managed successfully to adapt to an Asus GTX560Ti CUII 1 GB DDR5 card in the tiny bowels of my E30.

I also upgraded to an ACE 'Black edition' 650BR 650w POWER supply unit. things work well for the moment in any case.

I use the GPU GTX560Ti to an iRay CUDA renderer in 3DS Max 2013.

    Question...:

Can I operate the monitor off the chip integrated Intel HD P3000, while having the GTX560Ti recognized by the E30 in the form of secondary card?

I tried the BIOS setting for 'Video' of the 'AUTO' to "IGD" or what was the abbreviation for switching internal GUI. Then I plugged the via VGA in connector of the card mother VGA monitor to the rear. It starts up fine, but when I run 3DS Max 2013 he couldn't find the map GTX560Ti on the inside.

I can run BIOS 'Video' as 'AUTO', and the GTX560 card works well as a main card. I want to just run as a secondary card, in order to free up memory cards to render iRay rather than be a Windows display adapter.

    Any help or ideas?

    Thank you

Well with the IGP as primary; from the start the desktop both resident boot Asus graphic apps (SmartDoctor and GPUTweak) have both reported the lack of card. I went to start 3ds Max and entered in the dialog iRay, scrolled down and where the GPU was usually selectable was now empty. I assumed, and quite, not companies in the PC card.

    Anyway, I seem to have fixed "memory" problems to tweak some settings in Max;

memory and performance parameters/bitmap /Render options/bitmap proxies on and systems / make with proxies.

(This adjustment clips and reduction textures not visible within the limits of the object they are applied to so that it loads less bitmaps in memory cards)

I also used a third party called PolygonCrusher application to reduce the number of polygons and so faces to load into memory too. That dropped the polygons around 50% without any significant artifacts.

Everything works fine now, and on doubts, I also like boost GUI I get in applications to use as primary GTX560. Maybe when the budget of departments is reset next year I'll put in an order for a 2 GB card, but for now I think I've got it sorted at a performance level that is achievable.

    Thanks for your help, Erik

  • GPU question

    Hello!

I was snooping through my desktop specs and have discovered that I can use one chip integrated as my GPU and other. I'm not too familiar with PC hardware, but that's mostly why I'm here.

    My PC: a4317c

    A built-in chip: nVidia GeForce 6150SE

My question is, if I were to buy a 7870 PowerColor (http://www.powercolor.com/Global/products_features.asp?id=446), it would be compatible with my desktop computer?

    That's all for now.

    Thank you

    Peter

    Peter, welcome to the forum.

No, it will not work for two main reasons: 1) it is 9.5 "in length which may be too long to enter in the space provided (I recommend not more than 9".) and 2) requires a power supply (PSU) at least 500W of power.

The power supply of the computer is only 250W.  Therefore, an upgrade of the power supply would be necessary, too.  I love OCZ and Corsair PSU's.  They will provide clean and stable power to the computer.  You should buy one with at least 500W; 600W is better for future updates.

Here are the specifications of the card on Newegg.  I use Newegg because they have the best list of all their product specifications.

I would recommend XFX, EVGA, Sapphire and video PNY cards in that order.  I came to this conclusion, many hours on amateur / overclocking forums.  If you are looking for another video card that you like, let me know.  I'll give him once.

Please click on "BRAVO", if I helped you and click on "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.

I looked and looked on the site of Dell and in my textbooks and I can't find what is my 8500 power supply?  It is 460 watts?  I hope not :)

Is the motherboard AMD Crossfire capable?   Do you think that there is enough physical space to hold 2 7850 cards?

    Thanks for the help!

    Tina

    Hi Tina,

The power supply comes with 8500 XPS is 460W.

The motherboard is not able to AMD Crossfire. You will have to perhaps change the motherboard and the power supply for the Crossfire configuration work. You may also change the chassis the chassis 8500 XPS is not large enough to accommodate a motherboard capable of SLI or Crossfire configuration with two graphics cards.

I hope this helps. Answer please if you have any questions.
